Chapter 4

Inuyasha awoke to the feeling of someone staring at him. He frowned and opened his eyes. He saw a beautiful girl, right before his eyes, staring at him and poking him occasionally. He chuckled at her insistence on waking him up and laughed more when she fell on her butt, startled.

“Sorry, I didn’t know you were awake already…” The young girl blushed and picked at the floor. He was about to respond when something made them look towards the door.

Something happened that made both of their smiles fall. Yelling could be heard from the room across the hallway.

“You fucking bastard!” A shrill woman’s voice rang out, shattering the peace…

“No, honey…I’m sorry!” Naraku’s voice could now be heard. Inuyasha growled at the sound of this man’s voice. He was angry with Naraku for what he had done to Kagome.

“You’ve been sleeping with other women in my bed! Then you have the nerve to tell me that you are sorry!? I don’t think so!” She sounded very, very, angry. “When I come back home next week, I want you gone! Do you hear me? Gone!!” The woman screamed. Pain and the feeling of betrayal were evident. “And you!” They assumed she was talking to said ’whore’. “I hope you feel wonderful about yourself! Get out of my house you fucking little whore!” Yeah, she was defiantly talking to the whore.

The two could hear things being thrown and obscenities being screamed. They, then, heard the front door slam, a car’s tires squeal, and crying coming from the room across the hall.

Kagome was choking back sobs and Inuyasha gave her a confused look.

“My mom…Naraku…and his whore” Kagome explained burying her face in his chest. Once her crying subsided she took a deep breath and looked in to Inuyasha’s eyes. “The sad thing is…” Kagome sighed, “This has been going on since he began living here, if not before. She would never believe me when I tried to tell her.” She shook her head sighing and wiping at her eyes.

“Why would she take all of that hurt?” Inuyasha asked confused.

“Because, after losing my father my mother went in to a bout of drinking, you see. And Naraku, he brought her out of it. Now she’s successful and she thinks she owes it all to him…But he beats us, Souta and me, I mean…mostly me…and he sleeps with other woman…he even…brings home three at a time sometimes.” Kagome looked in to Inuyasha’s eyes once more and sniffled.

Knocking was heard at the door. She motioned for him to hide in the closet. Fore, you see, she wasn’t supposed to have boys sleep the night, especially without asking! After he had hidden, Kagome hastily opened the door. She saw her mother standing there with Souta supporting her. She looked like, well…To be frank, she looked like shit. Poor little Souta was almost falling from the weight. This caused a giggle from the girl. He shot her a skeptical glare

“Sis, I’m going to help mom get ready for work. I was just making sure that you were up.” He looked around the room suspiciously, shrugged and struggled to walk off, taking his mother with him.

Kagome shut the door shaking her head with a slight giggle. She walked over to the closet and opened the door. Inside, Inuyasha was standing with his hands over his eyes and undergarments surrounding him and on his head. ‘What the hell?’ He moved his hands and shot a pleading glance at her.

“Help…Me…” He managed to stutter out before dropping to the fetal position.

“Oh my god! Are you okay!?” She couldn’t help the giggles that escaped her. Blushing and with laughs emanating from her, she removed the poor boy from the pile of undies. “Next time, don’t rummage!” She teasingly scolded, wagging her finger at him. He blushed, shrugged her off, and set off to find the bathroom.

“I’m leaving!!!!!!!” A voice rang out through the house. Their mother had a suitcase and her credit cards and was waiting by the front door.

The young boy sighed. “This is life…” He sighed again and walked back upstairs to Kagome’s room.

Knocking interrupted Kagome from searching through her closet. She quickly threw a large tee shirt over her and answered the knocking. She saw her younger brother standing before her and let him in.

“Kagome…Mom’s leaving…” Kagome just shrugged, she showed no indication of doing anything about it.

“Tell her I’ll be down as soon as I get dressed, okay?” The young boy nodded and set off on his task. Kagome walked back to her closet and picked out a pair of jeans and tank top. She wandered to the bathroom and knocked lightly on the door. A head of silver hair poked out and amber eyes blinked at her in response. “Come downstairs and meet my mom Inuyasha.” He nodded and followed her.

Her mother was impatiently waiting for her to come down and was about to scream at her when she heard the footsteps…No wait…Two sets of footsteps. ‘Now who could that be?’

Next, on…Life, Kagome’s mom meets Inuyasha and says her little goodbyes. Stay tuned for future updates! : ) School’s out! Rock on!
