Me Love" ~ Tatu
(Chapter 1):
Kagome's Point of View~~~~

"I really don't get it Sango. After all of our time together, and he still doesn't show the slightest bit of interest. I helped him to gather almost all of the shards of the Shikon Jewel, and I helped him defeat every evil we have come across. Yet he still only sees me as a friend. Sometimes I think he doesn't even see me as that. I don't get it Sango. What am I doing wrong?" I put my head down. Sango was used to my complaining, and complaining didn't help me at all, but Sango always seemed to make me feel better.
"Don't worry Kagome. Inuyasha is a jackass. I know that isn't what you like to hear, but he only cares about how he feels. The sky could fall down tomorrow and Inuyasha would still keep his emotions inside. That is just how he is Kagome." Sango put her arm around me and tried to comfort me.
"I know, I just keep hoping he will let me into his heart, but I guess its a loosing battle. I should just throw myself into oncoming traffic." I stated holding back the urge to cry.
"Eh? Traffic?" Sango looked up at me puzzled.
"Oh, umm, never mind." I momentarily forgot that we were in Feudal Japan, there was no traffic.
"Speak of the annoying little creep." Sango looked at the anger welling up in my face, "I mean, hey Inuyasha!" she called smiling at him as he walked up with Miroku. I gave her a stern look and made sure there were no tears on my face before standing up.
"Hey guys! Did you find the Shippo?" I asked collectedly. I was used to pushing my emotions aside when Inuyasha walked into a room. Then again, even if I tried I could never concentrate on anything with him near me.
"I have no idea where he could be Lady Kagome. We have looked everywhere. I think he is hiding on purpose." Miroku stated sadly.
"What if he got kidnapped, or eaten my wolves?" Sango's voice started shaking, she buried her face into Miroku's chest. He gently held her and whispered calming words. The couple made me sick.
"Kagome, would you like to go double check the hut with me?" Inuyasha asked me. His question startled me, I nodded without even fully realizing what he said.
"Okay, guys we are leaving to look some more. If you decide to look too, come back to the hut in like an hour!" Inuyasha barked at the couple. He scoffed and began walking back into the woods.

It was mid-day, there was a strange feel in the air, I could sense a storm coming. Inuyasha must have sensed it too, because he shivered slightly at a low rumble from somewhere behind my vision.
"A storm is coming, I can hear it in the distance." I stated, breaking our tense silence.
"Yeah I know, I can sense it too." Inuyasha's response wasn't cold like it would normally have been. He was almost acting human.
"Is it that time of the month?" I asked looking curiously at him.
"No. What is that suppose to mean?" he looked at me with an expression of concern.
"Your time of vulnerability, is it soon?" I asked again.
"Oh, no. Two weeks." He looked straight ahead as he moved branches out of the way and stepped gingerly over tree roots. I nodded in response.
Silence again. I hated our silences. I never knew why it was so hard to talk to him lately. I just couldn't bring myself to talk of anything. I tried, but I just couldn't find a suitable conversation topic. My thoughts were disrupted when I heard a low growl from behind me.
"What is it Inuyasha?" I asked, thinking it was him who was growling. Inuyasha looked at me, he was still standing next to me.
"What are you asking me for?" he turned around rolling his eyes, behind us a tall wolf-demon stood with Shippo in his arms.
"Kagome!" Shippo declared.
"Shippo!" Shippo leapt out of the demon's arms and hugged me closely.
"I was so scared you had died! Thank you so much Kouga for returning him." I smiled at Kouga who returned the smile with one of his own.
"Oh its wimpy wolf!" Inuyasha scoffed through his words.
"You sound disappointed mutt-boy. Sad that you didn't get to be the hero?" Kouga smirked at Inuyasha, basking in his jealousy.
"Why haven't I killed you yet?" Inuyasha unleashed his Tetsegia.
"SIT!" I yelled as loud as I could, Inuyasha fell face first making a two foot imprint of himself in the dirt.
"Where did you find him Kouga?" I asked, stepping aside to avoid Inuyasha as I walked to Kouga.
"He was roaming a cave that my clan was trying to use to get out of the storm that is approaching. We didn't know if we would get back to our village in time and thought that the cave would be a good hiding place. We found the little guy here and I recognized him as your companion." Kouga stated proudly.
"Well, thank you for returning him to us. We missed him terribly." I stopped to hug Kouga, as a token of my gratitude, "Where did you go?" I directed my speech to Shippo who jumped over to Inuyasha, who was now back on his feet.
"I'll tell you when I think of a good excuse." he stated as he smiled at me. I smiled back shaking my head slightly.
"We better go tell Sango and Miroku we found the little runt." Inuyasha said as he put his tetseiga back into it's sheath.
"I am not a runt you half-breed!" Shippo yelled. That was a mistake. Inuyasha chased him around the forest yelling for Shippo to come back so he could beat him.
"I don' t know what I would do without their amusement." I stated to Kouga.
"Yes, they are amusing, indeed." he said back distractedly.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked him. Kouga and I had become rather good friends, despite the constant hatred him and Inuyasha displayed against one another.
"Why wont you be my mate Kagome?" he asked pleadingly.
"Kouga, I am too young to be a mate. I've told you this, and I really don't feel like discussing it again." I told him most of the truth, leaving out that I was madly in love with his closest enemy.
Inuyasha stopped chasing Shippo, who jumped back on my shoulder. I looked over at him, trying to tell him with my eyes that the reason I would never love Kouga was because I loved him. Of course he stared at me slightly confused. I looked away and blushed slightly.
"I have to go Kouga, I am sure Sango and Miroku will want to know that Shippo is alright. Thank you again." I hugged Kouga closely and began to walk back to the well, where we had left Sango and Miroku. Inuyasha glared at Kouga who took off in a blur of brown and black.
"I don't know why you are so nice to that dick-head!" Inuyasha yelled as he caught up to me.
"He can be nice. Besides he saved Shippo." I retaliated.
"I didn't need saving Kagome. I knew what I was doing. I was never lost at all." Shippo said calmly.
"Oh, so you are Inuyasha's side too! Why do I bother?" I yelled loudly. I felt Shippo jump off my shoulder.
"She is scary when she gets defensive." I heard him whisper to Inuyasha, out of the corner of my eye I saw him nod.
"Sango, Mirok- oh my gods!" I noticed that two of my best friends were disrobed rolling heatedly in the grass. I grabbed Shippo and covered his eyes. Inuyasha stopped to stare.
"I didn't think humans could do that." He said thoughtfully, tilting his head slightly to the right and then back to the left. I slapped him gently on the arm and pulled him away from the scene. He struggled to stay rooted to the spot.
"What, they didn't even notice we were there." Inuyasha complained.
"How would you like it if you were, busy and your best friend stopped to watch you?!" I barked back.
"I wouldn't care, I have no modesty." he spat back.
"Ugh, men!" I walked quicker through the condensed trees. We arrived back at Lady Kaede's hut and I went inside angrily.
"Uhh, Kagome, can you take your hands off my eyes now?" Shippo asked nervously.
"Oh, sorry Shippo." I took my hand down from his eye and set him gently on the floor.
"I really don't see what you are getting so bent out of shape about." Inuyasha said as he walked into room.
"I just don't think it is right to gawk at your friends when they are busy engaging in such activities." I stated calmly.
"You were upset before that. I could hear your heart beat, it was uneven. What is wrong?" he looked at me from across the room.
"Well, it was Kouga." I said calmly, and took a ragged breath before continuing, "You see, he still wants me to be his mate and I think he is a nice guy and all but I am not ready to be a mate, plus I am kind of in love with someone else." I looked at Inuyasha, expecting him to scoff, or walk out of the room in bordum; but this time he took me by surprise.
"I think Kouga would be a great mate." he said plainly. My heart sank. If he was this calm about it obviously he didn't return my feelings of love. Before I could conclude my hypothesis however, he continued, "I just don't think he is a good mate for you Kagome." he said in the same plain voice.
I smiled to myself, maybe there was a chance that he returned my feelings. I was going to come out and ask him what he felt about me but Sango and Miroku walked in. I saw Inuyasha glance at me smiling and I shook my head in response.
"Shippo!" Sango screamed in delight. Shippo allowed himself to be hugged by her and Miroku rubbed the top of his head as though he were petting his dog.
"Shippo here decided to go exploring alone, in a cave. Kouga was nice enough to bring him back." I stated before Sango could ask what happened to him. Inuyasha gringed at Kouga's name.
"Miroku, I am glad you two are back. I need your help with something." Inuyasha said nervously.
"You need my help? You are asking for help of your own accord? Are you sick?" Miroku asked, jokingly feeling Inuyasha's head.
"Shut up ya pervert!" Inuyasha spat back. Miroku laughed and agreed to help Inuyasha. Inuyasha walked out the door and Miroku followed leaving me to talk with Sango.

Inuyasha's POV~~~~

"So what did you need to talk about my good friend?" Miroku asked calmly.
"Well," I began to tell Miroku, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't even know exactly what I wanted to discuss.
"Yes?" he questioned, his voice holding a bit of concern.
"Kouga 'saved' Shippo. When he did, Kagome was so happy, and she hugged him. I know that seems dumb, but, I really think she has a thing for him, and I don't want to loose her." I admited.
"Well, Inuyasha, I hate to break this to you, but you don't own her. If you want to have the right to tell someone else to back off, you have to claim her as your mate." Miroku spoke gently, he wasn't taunting me, which helped the situation a lot.
"I know that!" I barked angriliy anyway, "I just, I don't know how to love Miroku. I've tried to tell Kagome so many times how I feel, but everytime I do," I paused, sighing to myself, "I just end up yelling at her. Hurting her."
"Yes Inuyasha, we are well aware of your tactics with women. But you see, you can fix that." Miroku said sitting down on the grass.
"How?" I asked pleadingly.
"Well, you have to learn to allow her into your life. If something is bothering you, be willing to open up and tell her, if you think an outfit looks particularly cute on her, give her a compliment, without a deragatory remark in the process." Miroku said eyeing me sternly.
"What do you mean by that?!" I yelled.
"I mean, don't say 'that looks nice Kagome. Of course it would look better on someone cuter'."
"I would never say that!?" I spat defensively.
"You said it just last week!" Miroku retalitated.
I thought for a moment, "Oh yeah, opps."
"Just be a nice guy, I am sure somehow you can figure out a way to be nice. Just act like me." Miroku smiled, in what he considered to be a dashing way.
"You want me to become a perverted lecher?" I asked bemusedly.
"I resent that." he stated calmly, "I just meant to do what I do."
"I don't think I can get into those kinds of postitions Miroku." I said smiling to myself, thinking about his earlier prediciment.
"What do you mean by that?" he asked, blushing slightly.
"Nothing. Thanks for your help. I will try this... being nice thing." I turned to walk away but something still bothered me.
"I want her to be the one to show me love." I stated, almost under my breath.
"Perhaps she can yet. It isn't like you are dying." Miroku said.
"True, but I feel our time together is running out. The shard is almost complete. What happens after that?" I looked up to the far-away sky. The clouds swirled around, as I looked up at the dark clouds surrounding the sun I felt raindrops.
"We better get back." I said sorrowfully there were still so many things plaguing my thoughts. I began to walk away from the well and buckets began to poor down around me.
"Great, now I get to be a drown rat. I am sure she will fall for me then." I stated angrily.
"I think she already is Inuyasha." Miroku stated, more to himself then to me.
"What? Tell me what you know monk!" I grabbed Miroku by his robes and lifted him into the air.
"I don't know anything Inuyasha, it is just a hunch. Now can we please get inside?" he asked gazing at me. Obviously my scare tactics were somewhat lacking in the desired effect. I let him drop to the ground as I sulked my way back to the hut.
"Oh you poor things got caught in the rain." Sango said in a motherly tone as she ran with a towel to Miroku. I shook my hair off, much like a dog, getting her all wet to.
"Opps sorry." I smiled mischeviously laughing to myself.
"Here Inuyasha." Kagome put a towel over me and smiled kindly.
"Thank you." I looked at her curiously. "That was really very kind of you." I bit my tounge, for some reason I wanted to say something mean. But I knew I wouldn't have meant it even if I said it.
"Okay, so where is your evil joke against me?" Kagome asked backing away from me.
"What do you mean?"
"You gave me a compliment. You must have some backsass you want to say. Like, 'that was really very kind of you, you stupid wench' or 'then again you should be kind to make up for your lack of beauty'. Come on Inuyasha, I can take it." Kagome looked at me, almost as though she basked in my derogatory comments.
"Am I really that mean to you Kagome?" my heart sank with how much she expected me to be rude, "I am sorry Kagome, I was just trying to be nice, and make sure you knew that I appreciated your kindness." I wanted to go outside and sit on the roof, like I often did, but since it was raining I just sat in the corner, not talking to anyone.
"I am sorry Inuyasha. I, I didn't mean.." Kagome stuttered and even though I couldn't see what she was doing, her voice sounded as though she were about to cry.
"It's okay Kagome, I don't expect an apology. I understand that I am a jackass." I spat, for the first time realizing that I was pooring my heart out to her.
"You aren't a jackass." Kagome said in protest.
"Maybe this isn't the place to have this conversation." Sango interrupted, I turned around to look at her, and she was nodding her head toward Shippo.
"Right, well, I didn't feel like talking anyway!" I yelled.
"I am going to make something for us to eat." Kagome said, she sounded angry.
I stared at the wall for the rest of the night, only stopping for about ten minutes to eat ramen with the rest of the group. Then I immediately went back to staring at the wall. I was startled late into the night by someone. It was Kagome, she came over and sat down next to me and rested her head on my shoulder. She muttered goodnight and she didn't move. When she had fallen asleep I layed her down on the floor, proping her head up with her pillow. I had the urge to kiss her, so I did. I gently brushed my lips on her forehead and said goodnight. I saw her roll over gently as I layed down beside her. "Good night." I whispered into the night.
