Chapter 2:
"Like Clockwork I Commit the Crime":
Kagome's POV~~~~
I woke up early the next morning, I was laying in Inuyasha's arms. He looks so angelic when he is sleeping. I gently got up, trying not to wake him. I had to go home today, to get more clothes and see what I had missed at school the past few days. With any luck Hojo will have found someone else to be obsessed with. I thought to myself. I gathered all my belongings and placed them into my bag quietly. I kissed Shippo on the cheek, somehow he seemed to know if I didn't before I left. I wrote a little note to everyone telling them I would be back by tomorrow at the latest. I then double checked to make sure all my things were packed before I walked out of the hut.
It was a gorgeous spring morning. The birds were chirping loudly to each other, and flying over-head. It was a picture perfect day, only one or two white, wispy clouds in the sky. Other then that all was blue. The ground was still wet from the nights rain and my shoes made a sloshing sound as I walked to the well.
"You didn't think you were leaving that easily did you?" I heard Inuyasha's voice call from behind me.
"Gods! Don't scare me like that!" I yelled at him, not really meaning to yell.
"You think you are just going to run off whenever you feel like it?" he barked.
"Well yeah! I have to get some more clothes and I do have school to check on!" I spat back.
"You can't leave me whenever you want." Inuyasha seemed as though he wanted to yell it, but he spoke calmly.
"I am not leaving you, I am just going home to get some things, I will be back tomorrow, if not later tonight." I said gently.
"No! I wont let you leave!" Inuyasha blocked my way into the well quickly getting in my way every time I tried to jump in.
"I'll come back Inuyasha," I thought of something that would get him to move, "Gee Inuyasha, I didn't know you loved me so much." I smiled as I saw his face contort in confusion.
"What I don't love you! I need you to get the rest of the jewel shards! In fact I almost hate you Kikyo." Inuyasha's eyes grew wide inside his head as he began to stutter. "I didn't mean to say that Kagome."
"It's okay." I smiled at him sweetly, "You said you hated Kikyo, therefore you don't hate me, so it doesn't matter to me." Inuyasha looked at me as he thought about it. He laughed at himself and sat on the edge of the well so that he didn't fall to the ground. I smiled with him, but my laughter was half hearted.
"Please let me go Inuyasha. I promise I will come back soon." I stared down at him, gods he was so cute!
"Okay, fine." he stated looking disgustedly at the ground. He got off the well and motioned for me to pass.
"Thank you," I bowed slightly as I passed him, but before I could jump in the well he grabbed my arm. "What are you doing?" I asked curiously. Suddenly I was floating through the blackness, I had fallen into the well.
I closed and then reopened my eyes when I landed on the well floor. Well that was weird. I thought to myself.
"I already told you, you aren't leaving me." Inuyasha said climbing up the well.
"Inuyasha! It isn't right for you to be here!" I yelled climbing up after him.
"What do you mean it isn't right? I've been here before." Inuyasha said defensively.
"I know, but," I saw determination in his eyes. It puzzled me as to why he would want to stay with me, but I gave in. "Oh fine, just don't do anything, bizarre."
"Like I would!" he looked at me reassuringly.
I walked through the shrine and up to the main house. I called through the house, letting everyone know I was home.
"Oh Kagome! You have perfect timing!" came my mothers voice, "Your friend Hojo is here to see you!" she called joyously. I closed my eyes, praying to wake up and be back in Feudal Japan. I opened my eyes to see my mother walking toward me.
"Oh hello Inuyasha!" she said joyously. "Come on Kagome, you have a guest, mustn't keep that adorable boy waiting."
"Mother!" I said, she knew I kind of liked Inuyasha, and she bit her tongue after that. Inuyasha followed close behind, wondering what could be so great about this human boy that my mother was so in love with.
"Kagome!" Hojo leapt off the coach and hugged me.
"Hi there Hojo. How are you?" I asked returned the hug feasibly.
"Oh I am sorry, was that to much for your back to handle?" he asked with great concern. I tried to recover and make sure he knew I was fine.
"Oh no not at all. I just haven't seen you in so long it surprised me." I smiled happily at him and then looked to Inuyasha who was staring at Hojo. If looks could kill Hojo would have been dead ten times over.
"Hojo this is my," I paused thinking for a moment, what exactly was he to me, "friend. My friend Inuyasha." I said, deciding that we were becoming close and we were friends.
"Hello Inuyasha, my name is Hojo. I am a friend of Kagome's from school." he smiled at Inuyasha holding out his hand. Inuyasha went to reach for it and I put my hand down him to stop him.
"Oh Inuyasha you don't want to shake hands, your hands are all dirty from the mud." I smiled nervously. The ears weren't bad enough, but if Hojo saw Inuyasha's claws I would have some explaining to do.
"How can his hands be muddy? We have been having a drought here for months." Hojo said questioningly.
"Well, you see, he isn't from around here, he is from, uhh, away." I kept lying, not being able to explain the situation to Hojo.
"So Hojo, you like my Kagome?" Inuyasha asked, breaking me away from my lies.
"Your Kagome?" Hojo asked.
"Yeah! My Kagome! You got a problem with that you puny human." Inuyasha spat.
"Puny Human?" Hojo looked to me for answers.
"Yes, Inuyasha gets defensive. He just means he thinks he is better then you. And I am not his Kagome because he never asked me to be." I emphasized my words looking at Inuyasha coldly, then turning to smile at Hojo.
"Oh, good, in that case, would you like to go to a play with me? It is opening Friday with encores all weekend, so we can catch it any day you want. Oh, but it is an Opera. The noise wont hurt your chronic ear-infections, will it?" he asked beginning to whisper. I made a mental note to tell grandpa to stop making up lies about my heath conditions.
"No it wont Hojo, but I can't this weekend. I beg your forgiveness." I put my hand on his arm gently.
"You don' t have to beg to this guy Kagome. If he has a problem with it I'll rip-" I put my hand over Inuyasha's mouth and whispered in his ear, "Humans in my time are not used to death threats! Control yourself!" I turned again to smile at Hojo.
"I understand that you don't want to date me Kagome. Why don't you just say that instead of making up excuses?" Hojo turned to walk away.
"Hojo! The truth is, I have to go with Inuyasha this weekend, him and I have a task we need to finish and I don't know if we will finish it in time for the play. I am sorry. I also apologize for my inability to go out with you. I am a really busy person and my weekends, and most of my weeks get filled up really fast. I am sorry." I looked at the ground for sympathy, not expecting Hojo to do what he did. He walked over to me and before I could react he had his lips touching mine. I was so shocked I just stood there. My mother had gone into the kitchen for something. I heard a low growl escape Inuyasha's mouth.
"THAT IS IT HUMAN! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!" Inuyasha unleashed his Tetsegia as Hojo broke his kiss.
"What the fuck is that thing!?" he yelled seeing the blazing light, "Pardon my language my dear Kagome." he added as a side comment.
"No problem," I said hurredly, "Inuyasha put that away! Please!" Inuyasha advanced on Hojo. "Inuyasha! No! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I heard Inuyasha, and his Tetsegia, flop against the floor five times. I realized that one was enough to suffice and I felt extremely bad for doing that to Inuyasha.
"Hojo you better go home. I will talk to you at school tomorrow." he nodded his head and ran off out of sight.
"I am so, so, so sorry Inuyasha." I tried to help him off the floor but he pushed my hand away as he stood shakily on his own.
"Thanks for that Kagome!" he yelled sarcastically.
"I am sorry, I didn't want you to kill him." I said defensively. Inuyasha put his Tetsegia back into its sheath.
"Whatever. Ouch." he said as he stood up straight.
"What, what's wrong?" I held on to Inuyasha's shoulder, trying to support him.
"My back, my back, ouch." he complained loudly, I had never heard him complain about pain. I felt terrible.
"I am so sorry Inuyasha, let me get you to my room." I helped Inuyasha up the stairs and into my room. I helped him to lay down on my bed and came back minutes later with a bag of ice, and a heat pack.
"Which one do you want?" I asked holding up the two options.
"What are they?" he asked curiously.
"Oh, right, sorry, umm hot or cold?" I asked trying to make things simple.
"Hot." he said easily. I put down the bag of ice and walked over to him with the heat pack. "You might want to turn onto your stomach." I said gently. Inuyasha turned onto his stomach and I placed the heat pack on his back.
"Well, it wont do much good with your shirt and cloak on." I said in a matter-of-fact voice.
"You think I am going to get naked for you? You're dead wrong!" he yelled back.
"Oh don't flatter yourself! Just take off your shirt!" I yelled back.
"No!"
"Now!"
"No!"
"Fine, I'll take it off myself! I stripped off the hanyou's clothes before he could move to stop me. I placed the hot-pack on his back and watched as the tension in his back eased almost immediately.
"See, I told you." I smiled at him even though he couldn't see me.
"I am going to go get you something to eat, I will be right back. Please don't move." I said to him as I closed the door and walked down to the kitchen. I didn't eat with my family, instead I brought the food up to my room so I could eat with Inuyasha.
"You can eat with your family Kagome." he said in a softened tone.
"No, I want to eat with you, if I didn't I wouldn't have come back up here." I smiled at him and took another bite of my bread.
"You mean you actually want to eat with me? You are spending time with me on purpose?" he asked giving me a confused look.
"Yes, why does that shock you?" I asked him in the same tone he had given me.
"Well, I don't know. After seeing you with lover boy, I just thought that you might not want to be with me anymore." Inuyasha said, slurping down some more Ramen.
"What do you mean 'be with you anymore'? I am only with you as a friend in the first place. If you want me to be more then your friend you would have told me by now." I said looking up at him from my spot on the floor. If he were going to admit his true feelings he would now.
"You are right." he said simply. That was it? 'you are right'? I should have known he didn't care about me like that. He just doesn't want me to be with anyone else, but at the same time he doesn't want me. Is he trying to make me miserable? All these thoughts floated in my head as I noticed Inuyasha put down his bowl.
"All done?" I asked. He nodded his head in response. I took his bowl and my plate and brought them back downstairs. I returned and he was on his back.
"Inuyasha! I told you to lie on your stomach." I looked at him with a motherly expression.
"I can't sleep on my stomach, I get sick." he complained.
"Fine." I went into the bathroom and changed into my pajamas. When I came out I took out my sleeping bag and made myself a bed on the floor.
"Kagome?" he looked down at my make-shift bed.
"Inuyasha?" I replied.
"Why aren't you sleeping on your bed? After a few days of being without it wouldn't you want to sleep on it?" he turned on to his side, supporting himself on his elbow, and looked into my eyes.
"You need it more then I do. I almost killed you with my command earlier." I said with remorse in my voice. I still felt really bad for doing that to him.
"I wont bite you. You can sleep with me." he said calmly.
"It's okay Inuyasha, I am sure you hog the covers anyway. I am used to this good ol' sleeping bag." I smiled at him reassuringly.
"No, please. I wont be able to sleep if you aren't in your own bed." He moved as close as he could to the wall, allowing for more then ample room for me to lay down. Seeing that he wouldn't give in anytime soon I agreed. I made a deal with myself though, that I would move back to my sleeping bag after he feel asleep. "Thank you." he said as I climbed under the covers next to him.
He looked into my eyes and I stared back into his. Deep amber pools, I could see myself through his eyes, even passed that, I felt as though I could see into his soul.
"What are you looking at?" I asked trying to break my thoughts up. That had no effect though, I couldn't see, hear, I couldn't feel anything but his presence surrounding me.
"I am looking at how gorgeous you are." he said deeply, in his voice I could tell he meant every word.
"You are delirious Inuyasha, get some sleep and we can leave after scho-" my speech was cut off as Inuyasha's mouth connected with mine. Every sense in my body stopped. I couldn't feel anything but him. I didn't know what to do, he gently placed his tongue in my mouth, caressing my tongue gently. "Inu-" I cut myself off, I couldn't move, I wanted him to keep going. I finally realized I had been laying there like a goon and I kissed him back. I allowed him to lay over me. We continued to kiss passionately, he slowly moved down to my neck, gently sucking it all over. I moaned slightly at the touch of his tongue, the feel of his breath on my skin. He reached up my pajama's and gently began to play with my breasts. I moaned again, trying to stifle my noise. "Kagome, I love you." he said gently bring his head up to look into my eyes. "I love you too," I replied smiling at him, this was the best moment of my life.
Inuyasha lifted my tank-top over my head revealing my uncovered breasts. I could feel his body gently rub against mine. He moved down my neck and gently began to kiss my colar bone. He then moved down my chest kissing my breasts tenderly. He swirled his tounge gently around my nipples and I moaned outloud, pushing my body up against his. I wanted him, I needed to have him. I moved my hands down his back, rolling my hips up to him, trying to tell him that I wanted him. Inuyasha made to remove my pajama pants he slowly pulled them down and caressed his hand gently up my leg, to my knee and then up to my thigh. He was about to pull off my panties when-
"Kagome, I was wondering if when you got home from school you would- OH MY GODS! WHAT THE FUCK!?" My mother threw her hands over her mouth and I covered myself with my blankets. Inuyasha immediately went limp as he sat as far away from me as possible on the bed. I had never heard my mother swear. That frightened me.
"Mother, I am, I don' t know what to say. I am sorry." I tried to show my remorse, but I couldn't, because I wasn't really sorry, I wanted Inuyasha to seduce me. I was encouraging it.
"Get out of my house! You will not defile my daughter in my house you disgusting demon! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!" My mother yelled at Inuyasha. He grabbed his shirt and cloak from the floor. He looked at me apologetically, and before jumping out the window he stopped to hear the rest of what my mother said. "You will never go back to that Feudal hell! I forbid it!"
"NO! You can't do that! You can't keep me from my friends, and from my mission!" I yelled back at her.
"Oh yes I can, you will go to school and you will come straight home, I am not going to put up with this any longer. Allowing demons to take away my daugters vir- it won't happen!" she spat back.
"You can't keep me here! I wont let my friends down!" I had put my clothes back on and was now standing yelling at my mother. "Inuyasha," I paused, emphasizing his name, "and everyone else, are the only people I feel as though really connect with me. They need me and I need them! You can't keep them from me!"
"Yes I can, and I will! You are grounded until the day you graduate and then I don't care how you ruin your life, but you will not ruin your life while you are under the age of eighteen Kagome!" she spat at me.
"You can't do this. You can't keep me from them for a year." I sat back on the bed, subconciously accepting my defeat. I let tears roll down my eyes, I looked to the window, but Inuyasha was long gone. "I love you." I whispered under my breath.
"What did you say?" my mother asked as she was about to leave my room.
"I said I hate you!" I looked up at her, anger raging in my eyes. "You are controlling me, and I hate you for it!"
"Well hate me all you want. You will thank me one day when you realize that getting mixed up with that type of crowd isn't good?"
"You would rather me go to school and hang out with materialistic girls who only care about which boy is hotter? Or hang out with guys who think that the more dope you smoke the better a person you become!?" I stood up again, I didn't mean to dis my friends, but it was all true.
"It's better then hanging around no good half-breeds, perverted lechers, and whinny slayers." she cursed under her breath.
"I thought you were a better person than that mom. I really thought you understood, that no matter who or what you are you could still be a good person. But I guess you are just as shallow as everyone else in our time! Well, I wont tolerate it! I am leaving and never coming back!" I grabbed my bag and ran past my mom out the door.
I walked quietly into Sota's room. I gently woke him up. "Sota... Wake up."
"What is it Kagome?" he asked sleepily.
"I am leaving, and I am not going to come back. I will miss you so much Sota." I cried deeply onto my brothers head as I kissed him gently on the forehead.
"Why aren't you coming back?" he sat up, wide awake.
"I can't live here anymore. Please don't be angry with me. I still love you and grandpa with all my heart. Take care of Grandpa okay?" I gave my brother a hug before continuing, "and probably about once a week I will come to the well. I want you to come there and visit me okay? Let's say about twelve every Saturday." I tried to smile at my brother, who just nodded, still not understanding what was wrong. "I love you Sota."
"KAGOME!" I heard my mother yell through the hall.
"Good bye!" I ran out of my brothers room and down the stairs. I ran out to the shrine, my mother was right behind me.
"Kagome! GET YOUR SKINNY ASS BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" she yelled. I ran into the shrine and jumped into the well without looking back.
I landed on the other side, half expecting my mother to be there yelling at me, but I was alone. I climbed up the ivy ladder to the other side. It was really dark out. Just as dark as it was at home. I walked through the woods, turning on my flashlight.
"Fuck, my batteries are dying, I'll ask Sota to get me some next week." I mummbled as I walked through the forest in the dark, conserving my batteries. Lady Kaede's hut came into view. I let out a sigh of relief. Soon, I would be with people who cared about me, who didn't care who I loved. True family.
I walked up to the hut, expecting everyone to be asleep, but instead I saw Inuyasha outside talking to Miroku.
"Just shut up Miroku! It doesn't matter anyway. Who cares if her mom makes her stay there forever? It's probably better this way." I saw Inuyasha sit down on the ground. I suddenly felt tears roll down my eyes.
"Inuyasha, surely you don't mean that. After all, you almost made love to this women, you have to go rescue her from her torturous mother." Miroku replied.
"I was just in heat, I didn't care who I was fucking." Inuyasha spat. My mouth dropped open in pain. How could he say something like that? How could he do this to me? He told me he loved me. I walked out of the bushes, determined to put him in his place.
"INUYASHA!" I was trying to be calm, but my anger was too strong, "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE SAYING? YOU LYING MISERABLE SCUM BAG! YOU SAID YOU LOVED ME, AND NOW YOU ARE SAYING YOU WOULD HAVE FUCKED ANYTHING!? YOU ARE A DISGUSTING FILTHY MUTT! I CAN'T BELIEVE I EVER STOOD UP FOR YOU! MY MOTHER WAS RIGHT ABOUT YOU, DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT SUCKS THAT SHE WAS RIGHT!? I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO ME. I CAN'T BELIEVE I ALMOST SLEPT WITH AN INSECURE ASSHOLE LIKE YOU. YOU SLIMY PRICK, GOD I HATE YOU INUYASHA! I DIDN'T MEAN IT WHEN I SAID I LOVED YOU, I TAKE IT BACK I HATE YOU I HATE YOU" I began to cry even harder, because I knew I didn't really hate him. I had to convince myself that I did though, " I! HATE! YOU! SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, I heard him hit the ground numerous times but I didn't stop I kept screaming at him until Miroku held me in his arms and I broke down crying. "FIND YOUR JEWEL SHARDS YOURSELF YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKER!" I yelled again as I continued to cry. I pushed Miroku away from me, "tell Shippo I'll miss him, and say goodbye to Sango and Kirara. Good bye Miroku." I ran away from the hut and didn't look back.
Now what? I thought to myself. I can't go home because mom hates me, I can't go back there because I can't stand Inuyasha and what he has done to me. What is left for me? Nothing. I might as well kill myself and get it over with. I leaned on the well, trying to think of something that would get me out of this hell I had created for myself. I heard a low growl and I turned to look, I was face to face with Kouga.
