InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Lost Innocence ❯ Questioning Kagome ( Chapter 9 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

God, I'm pissed off!! I almost had the chapter finished... and then my laptop just blacked out. There was just a black screen and I had to restart my laptop. And when I turned it back on, all of the chapter was gone!! ::sigh:: So please excuse that this chapter is late.

Anyways....It's the 1st of January... My birthday is in a week! I'm gonna invite Vaughn, Dennis, and Emily to the movies for my birthday. Not that you know them... Well, they're my best friends from my old neighborhood. Yes, Vaughn is a name. It's a guy's name in Russia. My friend Vaughn is Russian.... and Dennis isn't a russian name, although him and Vaughn are cousins... hmm... why isn't Dennis's name russian like Vaughn's is?

*sigh* Enough of me babbling on and on about my friends... On with Lost Innocence!

"Moushi, moushi," Inu-Yasha answered after he flipped open his cell phone.

"In-Inu-Yasha??" Kagome asked through tears.

"Kagome? Kagome, why are you crying??" Inu-Yasha asked in his worried tone.

"It's my mother. Sh-she's... dead," Kagome replied, tears streaming down her face.

"Oh my, Kami-sama. I'll call the police. And I'm coming over," Inu-Yasha said and hung up the phone.

"B-B-Big Sister??" Suzuna asked as she walked towards Kagome, and hugged her legs.

"I'm sorry, Suzuna," Kagome dabbed her eyes with a tissue,"that you have to see me like this." She picked up Suzuna and put her in on her lap. Suzuna put her arms around Kagome's neck, giving her a hug.

"It's otay, Big Sister," Suzuna sobbed into Kagome's hair. "I cry, too. See?"

Kagome couldn't help but smile through her tears. 'Suzuna is so innocent,' Kagome thought to herself. "We all do, Little Sister, we all do."

A few moments later, Inu-Yasha was at the front door. He knocked a few times. "Kag-chan, it's me, open up." Kagome picked up Suzuna, walked over to the door, and opened it. Inu-Yasha quickly stepped inside.

"Hello, Kagome," he greeted sadly. "Hello, Suzuna."

Suzuna's head came out of her sister's hair, she turned to him and said,"Hi, Yashi," through her tears, and reached out to him so he could hold her.

"I called the cops," Inu-Yasha said to Kagome as he received Suzuna in his arms. "They should be here within five minutes."

A tear fell out of Kagome's eye, and streamed down her face. "Kagome..." Inu-Yasha whispered. Suzuna sensed another one of Kagome and Inu-Yasha's lovey dovey moments so she jumped out of Inu-Yasha's arms.

"I be back wraiter," Suzuna said in her usual baby accent. *A/N-When she said "wraiter", she was trying to say "later"* "I need to fink about Mommy awrone."

Although Inu-Yasha and Kagome were both sad, they smiled at Suzuna. "She's so sweet," Inu-Yash told Kagome as Suzuna left the kitchen.

"Yes, I know. It saddens me," Kagome said, turning away from Inu-Yasha as tears streamed down her face,"that she has to go through this. She never met her father. And now her mother has died."

Inu-Yasha took Kagome's wrist and turned her around. "Kagome..." he said softly. "Don't be sad," Inu-Yasha brushed a tear away from Kagome's face,"it'll be alright. Suzuna and you will be alright."

Kagome pulled away. "I wish it were true... I wish everything you just said were true..."

"Don't talk like that... it'll be alright. Have I ever told you wrong?" Inu-Yasha asked, feeling quite sure of himself.

Kagome had to laugh at Inu-Yasha's pride. "What's so funny?" he asked her.

"You're so full of yourself," Kagome teased.

Inu-Yasha laughed. "Can I help it if I'm always right?"

Inu-Yasha and Kagome stopped laughing and looked into each other's eyes. They got closed there eyes, and kissed. Inu-Yasha and Kagome wrapped there arms around each other and continued kissing for ten more seconds before the police knocked on the door. Kagome and Inu-Yasha pulled away from each other and blushed faintly.

Kagome walked over to the door and opened it. "Hello," she greeted and motioned for them to come in.

The two policemen walked in and her, Inu-Yasha, and them sat down at the kitchen table. "Hello, Miss Higurashi, I believe it is?" the chubbier, named Debido, asked.

"Y-yes," Kagome said quietly.

"We got a call saying that umm...a female in her early thirties has died," the tall, skinnier one named Micheru

"Yes," Kagome said again.

"How old are you, Ma'am?" Officer Debido asked.

"F-fifteen, Sir. But my birthday is in a week," Kagome answered nervously.

"Was the lady that died your mother, Miss Higurashi?" Officer

Micheru asked.

"....yes..." Kagome whispered.

"Enough with the questions, guys," Inu-Yasha told the policemen.

The policemen gave Inu-Yasha a look as if to say "stay out of it" but stopped asking Kagome questions. Kagome and Inu-Yasha walked into the living room and looked on the couch and saw Mrs. Higurashi, pale, lifeless, and she still had a beer bottle in her hand.

Kagome winced and turned around and leaned on Inu-Yasha and sobbed softly. Inu-Yasha patted her head softly. "It's okay, Kagome. She's in a better place now," he whispered in her ear as the police offers called the ambulance on their walkie talkies.
