Well, this is chapter 18! I hope you like it, I put lots of thought into it...


- I do not own Inu-Yasha, sadly. But I do own Suzuna and Maririn, so hands off.
eighteen - A Run-In with Kikyou
awoke the next morning to the phone ringing. "Ehh... what...?" she mumbled and answered the phone quickly. "Moushi moushi."
Kagome?" the deep voice asked.
sat up. "Yes, Inu-Yasha," she smiled. "This is her. What's up?"
smiled, relieved that he was correct. If it was Sango she would have gone into a rant about how he should know the voice of his own lover; pregnant women defidently are not nice. "Oh, nothing, I just wanted to hear your voice and see how everyone's doing. How's Maririn?"
walked over to the crib, seeing that Maririn wasn't there. She knew where her daughter was. "Maririn's with Grandmother Kaede. Well, honey, I'm sorry, but I must leave you. I have to take a shower."
sighed. "Okay, Darling. I'll be over later today. I love you, bye."


Kagome was just getting out of the shower, she heard the doorbell ring. She sighed with a hint of a smile; she knew it was Inu-Yasha. Kagome quickly ran into her room and got dressed into a long, black skirt, a black, short-sleeved shirt with fishnet sleeves. After Kagome had applied her eyeliner and lipstick and had her hair done, she ran downstairs. "Hi, Inu-kun," she all but purred when she hugged her lover. "I missed you."
hugged her back with a smile on his face. "I missed you as well. So, did you tell everyone about our engagement yet?" he asked as they parted.
blushed. "No, Inu-Yasha, I'm sorry. I wanted to tell them when you were here..."
grinned. "No need for apologies, Kagome. You don't have to explain anything to me. I, too, wanted to tell them together."
made Kagome's smile return to her lovely face. "Would you like to tell them now?" she asked.
Inu-Yasha considered this. "After I see Maririn."
told Inu-Yasha to wait right there. She then walked up the stairs and into her grandmother's room. "Grandma," she told her with a bow. "May I please see Maririn? Inu-Yasha would like to see her."
cooed at the baby one last time before handing her over to Kagome. "Maririn was a good baby this morning," she reported. "And a very happy one, too."
smiled at her grandmother and then at Maririn who, in turn, smiled back. That's when Kagome realized that she hadn't seen Suzuna all morning. "Where's Suzuna?" she asked.
and Sango took her out for a little while to see the My Neighbor Totoro Movie out in theaters," she explained as she followed Kagome down the stairs.
okay. Grandma, Inu-Yasha and I have something to tell you..." she began as she put Maririn into Inu-Yasha's arms, her voice slightly shakey.
smiled; she knew that they were going to get married, and perhaps that last night Inu-Yasha had purposed... "Yes?" she asked, a twinkle in her eye.
Kagome began. "Inu-Yasha and I are... well, we are going to... umm... get married." She said get married very fast. Why was she so nervous to tell Grandmother Kaede about her engagement, anyway? Not even Kagome knew why...
Kagome!" Kaede practically screamed with excitement and gave her granddaughter a hug. ((Heh, acting like a teenaged girl, eh?? :-p))
looked slightly confused but then laughed and hugged her grandmother back. "Heh, thanks, Grandma."
the wedding??" she then asked and pulled apart from Kagome.
she looked at Inu-Yasha and then back to Grandmother Kaede. "We don't know yet..."
nodded. "That's okay, no rush! I'm so happy for you two!"


and Inu-Yasha put Maririn in a stroller and took her out in the neighborhood for a walk. As they were walking, they saw Kikyou and Koga. "Oh, great, look who it is," Kagome whispered to Inu-Yasha with an eye-roll. Kikyou and Koga had forgotten about being nice to Kagome since her mother had died, apparently.
Kagome, and Inu-Yasha," Kikyou sneered when she saw the two. "So you got pregnant, huh? And you call me a whore?"
rolled her eyes. "How do you even know that this is mine?" she asked as she and Inu-Yasha stopped walking.
do you think I'm an idiot?" she asked in a matter-of-fact tone. She ignored Kagome's "yes" and then continued. "First of all, you dropped out of school. 2nd of all, helloo, everyone at school is talking about how you got knocked up because you couldn't keep your legs closed."
mouth practically hung open in shock. So she's getting the reputation of school whore, huh? Before she knew what was happening, she had shoved Kikyou down on the ground. "I can't keep my legs closed?? You're the one who got an abortion, you skank!" Kagome then turned to Inu-Yasha. "C'mon, Inu-kun, let's go." She and Inu-Yasha continued down the sidewalk while Koga was at Kikyou's side.


Kagome and Inu-Yasha got back from their walk, they saw Sango and Miroku in the living room. "What, do you live here now?" Inu-Yasha asked Miroku when he and Kagome took a seat on the couch, Maririn in his arms.
Inu-Yasha," replied Miroku sarcastically. "Very funny. Since when are you and Kagome engaged??"
and Kagome's eyes became wide. "What?! Who told you?!" Kagome asked in surprise.
Kaede told us," Sango informed Kagome. "How come you didn't tell me??"
facial expression changed from content to angry. "We just got engaged last night and we wanted to tell you ourselves, we didn't want you to hear it from Grandmother Kaede. We're sorry." Sango nodded and was quite understanding for a woman eight months pregnant.
what happened while me and Inu-Yasha were out on our walk," Kagome said excitedly with Maririn over her shoulder. "We ran into Kikyou and she actually had the nerve to call me a slut!"
Gods, look who's talking, that stupid whore, Kikyou!" Sango replied. "You've only been with one man while she's been with too many to count!"
know!" Kagome agreed. "And so I shoved her to the ground and called her a skank. Heh, gods, it was fun."
fun. Lucky; I never got to beat up Kikyou!" Sango replied with a hint of a smile.
where's Suzuna?" Kagome asked.
upstairs in her room; she's been waiting for you," replied Miroku, answering Kagome's question.
nodded and handed Maririn to Inu-Yasha. "Watch her while I go say hello to my baby sister." She walked up the stairs and into Suzuna's room where she was greeted enthusiasticly by the room's owner.
Sister!!" Suzuna squealed and wrapped her arms around her legs in a hug. "I missed you so much!"
smiled and picked up her younger sister. "I've missed you as well, Imouto-san."
what I saw in the movies!" Suzuna exclaimed when Kagome set her down, and then answered before Kagome had a chance to reply. "My Neighbor Totoro!! It was such a good movie, Big Sister!"
bet it was," Kagome replied with a smile. "I'll tell ya what. Since Sango and Miroku got to take you to the movies, tomorrow I will take you out for ice cream. How does that sound?"
made Suzuna's smile spread from ear to ear. "You bet!" she replied in her usual baby accent.


I MAY make Lost Innocence longer than 20 chapters, but I may not. Who knows 'cause I sure don't. But don't get your hopes up. Well, if you read Cutting Emotions, I have it all written out, I just have to transfer it to my computer and post it. Well, I hope you enjoyed.
