The End or the Beginning?

"So you see, Mama, he loves me and I love him. We want to be married. Will you give your consent, Mama? Onegai?"

Higurashi-san was quiet for a moment or two. "Where will you live, Kagome?"

InuYasha answered, although the question was intended for his beloved. "We've thought of that," he said. "We will live in the Feudal Era."

"What if the well closes up when you've finished your quest?" Higurashi-san had a worried look on her face. What if she could never see her daughter again? What if she would never meet her grandchildren? With Kagome's looks and InuYasha's cute little ears… they were BOUND to be adorable. She would not allow it.

"Well. When the quest is over, we will have the Shikon no Tama. I will wish for the well to remain open. I no longer wish to be full demon as the one person I love more than anything in the world loves me just as I am. A pathetic hanyou." He smirked. "We'll visit often."

Higurashi-san thought about this for another moment or two. She had every intention of letting them wed, but she loved to see the hopeful look on her daughter's face and the nervous twitch of her future son-in-law's fuzzy ears. But before she could speak, Kagome added, "Oh, and Mama? Um… well. We're going to make another slight change."

Kagome's mother's eyebrows shot up. "And that would be?"

"Mom, I love InuYasha. Very much. He told me that he would be happy with me for as long as I lived, even as I grow old. He's immortal, Mama. No matter how much hr tells me it won't matter, I'll grow old and die and he won't look a day older than twenty-five. When he, hesitantly, mentioned a way for me to become immortal… I jumped on it. I accepted. I will become a hanyou shortly after we marry."

InuYasha: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

Me: What?!

InuYasha: Kagome's going to be my mate, baka. AND she's becoming a hanyou? Did I mention I loved you Kate?

Me: Yeah. Doan get all sappy, you silly puppy. You're not mated yet. What if I choose not to go through with it? What if you're ceremony becomes Hojo's?

InuYasha: Number one… you're a die hard I and K-er and Number two…YOU HATE HOJO AS MUCH AS I DO!

Me: I'm such a hopeless romantic.

InuYasha: Thank the gods!
