Kagome's retreating footsteps faded as the band picked up and started their next song. Sango watched her retreating form with confusion. How could they have met? She shrugged and turned to Inuyasha. “So you've met?” she stated.
Inuyasha shrugged and replied curtly. “Yeah, I suppose, if you could actually call it meeting. We ran into each other in the elevator.” He shrugged again and looked toward Kagome, who was now sitting in a booth in the back of the bar. “Is she usually like this?” he paused. “So uptight?”
Sango chuckled to herself. “Yeah, pretty much,” She said as grabbed his arm. “Come on, lets go talk to her, I don't care what happened between you two.”
“Feh,” He said and followed her dragging his feet slightly.
Kagome looked up sharply as she heard footsteps coming towards her. Her smile turned into a scowl as she saw Sango and Inuyasa approaching the table. Rising to her feet she turned to Sango, ingoring Inuyasha completely. “Hey Sango, sorry about walking off like that,” She said gently. “I don't know what got into me.”
“It's no problem, we all get like that sometimes.” Sango said cheerfully. “Anyway, as I was saying before, this is Inuyasha, the new real estate agent in our company.” Sango gently pushed Inuyasha forward causing him to stumble and bump into Kagome.
Kagome's smile turned into a frown as he ran into her. “Excuse you,” she said curtly and moved out of the way.
“Feh, if you weren't standing in the way I wouldn't have bumped into you,” Inuyasha snapped and straightend himself.
“Well, since your head is so big, you should have seen me and moved first.” Kagome snapped back.
Sango stood there a smile on her lips as she watched the two bicker back and forth. “I knew they would like each other,” she mused to herself. She glanced around the bar, a scowl falling upon her face as she spotted Miroku. Miroku was googling at the waitress's chest and probally making rude comments. “I'll see you two later, I have to go take care of some business,” she told the still bickering persons and stormed off to smack Miroku.
“Well, if you weren't a bitch then you would have heard me say I was sorry,” Inuyasha yelled at the now furious Kagome.
“Well…Well…”Kagome sputtered unable to come up with a retort.
“Well? Oh is the high and mighty Kagome unable to come up with a retort?” Inuyasha laughed.
At this Kagome choked out an angry scream and kicked him in the shin. “Take that you inconsiderate bastard!” She yelled and stormed away..
Inuyasha grabbed his leg and fell into a chair. “Ow! Damn that bitch!” He swore under his breath rubbing the spot where she had kicked. “Dammit Inuyasha. You fucked that one up, get up and go after her, you really didn't mean to make her mad, just wanted to tease her a bit.” He mumbled softly and rose to his feet. He quickly scanned the area and his eyes fell on her and he gasped slightly. “wow,” he breathed taking in her beauty that he never really noticed before. Gathering up his courage he limped his way over to her.
Kagome fumed as she oredered a beer. “Who in the hell does he think he is?” She almost said allowed and took a swallow of her drink. “Ughh!” she muttered and turned sharply only to find her face in somebody's chest. She blinked and thought to herself, “Wow…nice and firm,” Coming to her senses she took a step back and mumbled an apology. “Sorry,” She looked up to see who it was and her eyes narrowed. “Oh, Its only you. What do you want now? Come to call me some more names?” She said as she brushed past him.
Before she could get away he gently grabbed her arm. “No, I just wanted to say…” he paused unable to make the word come out.
“Yes?” she said with an irratated sigh.
“uh…I just wanted to say Happy Birthday,” he replied letting go of her arm and walking away.
Kagome blinked and watched his retreating form. “Thanks,” she said softly and walked off to find Sango. She found Sango sitting next to a very red Miroku. She smiled softly. “Hey you two.”
“Hey Kagome,” Sango said sending daggers at Miroku daring him to say something. Miroku srunk away and gave Kagome a nod.
“This has been a wonderful party Sango. Thank you,but I think I'm going to head out, I'm tired and want to relax.” Kagome said.
Sango nodded, “Alright, good night Kagome, I'll drop all your gifts off at your house tomorrow.” Kagome nodded, gave them a smile and walked off and out of the building. Unnoticed in the back corner Inuyasha watched Kagome leave the building, a look of saddness flashed in he face but was quickly replaced by a smile before anyone could see it.
