I was completely lost in what had been happening there, they were both shooting daggers at each other as I tried my best to analyze the situation. It was as if Inuyasha tried to protect me from Naraku and it seemed like Naraku thought I was in danger. I was afraid to move since I might cause them to lose their concentration, I heard my door being open and I heard a sigh.
“What do you want Naraku?” Kikyo asked, I looked back and she folded her arms.
This is why you broke up with me?” he gestured at Inuyasha with his flower bouquet, Inuyasha rolled his eyes.
“Now you know how stealing feels like?” Inuyasha asked with a defying look, Naraku charged but I immediately got in the middle of them and Naraku stopped half the way through his punch.
“Don't,” I whispered to Naraku and he sighed; Inuyasha pulled me behind him again.
“You're lucky Kagome is here, Inuyasha.” He said staring with anger at Inuyasha… he was such a sweet guy, why was he acting this way?
“What do you want Naraku?” Kikyo repeated… she hates not being the center of attention; she walked towards her boyfr… ex-boyfriend. “I told you it was over,”
“I need to talk to you… please?” his voice became gentle as he answered Kikyo; she looked at Inuyasha who was standing protectively in front of me.
“There's nothing to talk about… I told you what happened between us and how it came to an end, there's nothing to explain.” Kikyo said as she looked at me, her eyes flickered to Inuyasha for a second and finally they settled on Naraku.
“We… I need this talk… I know it isn't important to you but it is for me, would you please do it? For me?” he practically begged and it hurt me to watch him being such a puss but it seemed to trigger something inside my sister.
“Fine.” Kikyo replied and went inside, Naraku followed her and intentionally hit Inuyasha with his shoulder.
“Son of a…!” I grabbed Inuyasha's hand before he could start a fight and he looked at me with anger before his features become softer again; he sat back on the porch.
“What was that?” I asked concerned and he sighed before rubbing his hand through his hair.
“Trouble, that's what it is…” he mumbled and I placed my hand on his knee… I realized how intimate my gesture seemed so I immediately removed it but he just grabbed my hand and I tried hard not to blush. “Are you… blushing?”
“No,” I answered and I tried not to blush even more but I felt my cheeks hotter, I was obviously failing but he seemed to enjoy it since he let out a few chuckles. I decided to change the subject. “Why were you acting like that with Naraku?”
“It's something I'm not very proud of.” He sighed and I was about to ask again when I saw he was going to continue. “I used to live across town and I used to go to school there until this little incident with him happened… it involves our band as well.”
“Your band?” he nodded.
“Our old drummer used to be Naraku and he also used to be the lyricist. I met him when we were 16 and we were playing just for fun. We did things separated; he wrote the lyrics I composed the melody, together we made great songs and now… now, I've got nothing. Anyway, we used to party almost every single day since his father owns this big record company called…”
“Yeah, Onigumo records… I know about it.” I interrupted and he nodded once again.
“Well, that meant we could go inside any club or any bar we decided and we usually would spend our whole night inside a club… Miroku got really caught up in that lifestyle. We sold him the rights of our songs to him since we thought it would be a pretty good idea, we were going to record an album once we were 18 but then Miroku decided to enter to rehab because of his problem with s…” he stopped and stared at me for a few seconds before gulping, “um… well… he… um… there was…”
“If it's about him being a... sex addict, I kind of know…” Inuyasha sighed relieved.
“I thought I had ruined it… as I was saying, Miroku entered to a clinic to treat his problem and I was left with Naraku who told me his father had sold the songs to various groups… and guess who got all the credit.” I shook my head in disbelief; Inuyasha picked up a rock from the ground and toyed with it.
“But he couldn't…”
“It wasn't even Naraku who got credited,” Inuyasha hissed as he clenched his fists. “It was his father but he didn't say a thing… I confronted his father and kicked his ass so hard he's going to remember it in his next life. Naraku, of course, took his father side and we had a big fight… I think I even mentioned of what he was going to die of so we just broke our band and I decided to start from a scratch once Miroku came out of rehab.” Inuyasha took a deep breath.
“And that's when you met Bankotsu, right?” I asked and he shook his head.
“Not exactly, you see Onigumo wanted to get rid of me and he didn't want any bad press so he did what every other man with money would do… he talked with the school principal and I was expelled from school which meant I wouldn't be getting near him in a long time.” He sighed heavily as he threw the rock away.
“What did you do?” he half smiled.
“My father had a fit and my mother was in tears so I suggested to be sent to a boarding school across the sea… I went to a boarding school in Switzerland to finish my studies and when food sucks and your family rarely checks up on you, you have nothing more than music…” I smiled a bit as I saw his lip slowly curving up. “I skipped school and I spent my days in the music shops listening to CDs for free and buying one once in a while so I didn't get kicked out… I also got a job at an instrument shop and I learned everything I needed to know about instruments, you can even ask me how to play an accordion and I would know.”
“But if you finished your studies there, why are you still in high school?” I asked curiously and he let out a chuckle.
“Since that didn't count as 12th year because I didn't have the amount of assistances it required me to approve I had to redo the last year of school. My family was more than happy to tell me they had moved so my brother didn't have to move into a dorm room… I knew that it was more of what I had done but I didn't say a thing and let it go, I had to go to a new school anyways and I ended up in your school, the only thing I don't regret out of this whole experience.” He gently grabbed my hand and I smiled. “As for Bankotsu… he's my brother's friend and he's a really good drummer, that's all.”
“How old is your brother?” I asked intrigued, Inuyasha didn't mention his brother often and when he did… well, it sort of reminded me when I talked about Kikyo.
“Two years older, he's the apple in my parents' eyes… whatever Sesshomaru does; it should be bathed in gold and preserved for the future.” I laughed and he joined in.
“I know how you feel, everyone in my neighborhood and in school praises the ground Kikyo walks on… it's very annoying, you feel as if…”
“As if you'll never be as good as they are because they did everything first.” Inuyasha finished and I nodded as I stared at the ground, he sighed. “It sucks… that's why I reached out to music, it's the only thing Sesshomaru can't do.”
“I wish Kikyo had a flaw… she's perfect, in every sense of the word. You name something and she can do it.” I smiled when I felt his hand cup my cheek, forcing me to look at him.
“She's not perfect for me…” he whispered and I bit my bottom lip before smiling. “Um… you're probably not interested but… tomorrow there will be another band practice at my house, you and Sango can come and…”
“I'd love to.” I admitted and he smiled, I was about to melt at the sight of his grin because it was genuinely of happiness unlike the ones he displayed for Kikyo.
“Alright… I'll come and pick you up, okay?” I nodded and he kissed my cheek gently, I knew I was blushing but this time I didn't care, Inuyasha shot me another irresistible smile.
I stared at him until he got in his car and drove away, I couldn't help but to let out a dreamy smile crawl on top of my lips and I immediately felt a soft kick coming from inside. I could tell my baby could sense my excitement and I rubbed my stomach softly as I let out a sigh. My phone started ringing and my heart skipped a beat at the thought of Inuyasha calling, I didn't check the number and immediately picked it up.
“Missing me already?” I asked flirtingly and the answer wasn't what I expected.
“Kags, I just saw you at the mall… why would I miss you?” I felt utterly embarrassed and then Sango gasped. “Oh, you thought I was someone else! Inuyasha!”
“No, I was just…”
“Don't try lying to me Kagome, now spill the details.” I sighed heavily as I turned to knob and tried to get inside; it was locked so I went back and sat down on the porch.
“Inuyasha knows,” I finally let out and then I heard a gasp meaning she caught my hint. “And we talked about it and some other things… what about you? Spill the details…”
“After Miroku revealed his problem to me, he told me how much he has gone through and it wasn't easy for him… and then I show up and expect him to have sex with me just because I can't wait.” I heard Sango had some trouble sharing it.
“So what did he do?” Sango giggled.
“It's more like what I did… I told him everything was alright and that I wasn't giving up on him, I told him… I told him I love him.” My eyes widened at her statement, Sango wasn't the type of girl who would just go out there and shout she was in love… I had never heard her say those words before.
“Sango…” I said softly and I heard her laugh and sniff.
“And he said it back!” I realized she was crying out of joy and I smiled, my friend's happiness was worth more than anything in the world. “I'm so happy Kags! Yesterday I was crying because I thought he didn't want me and now it turns out to be the opposite… a man like him, even with all his fucked up problems, it's worth my time.”
“I'm glad to hear that Sango,” she laughed some more and sniffed again.
“So… Inuyasha knows?” she said and I sighed. “C'mon, I just told you everything that happened to me… you better let me know what happened between the two of you.”
“Where should I start?” I mumbled and heard the door unlock and a loud slam, Naraku came out angrily. “Wait, I'll call you back.”
“Hey Kaggy,” he greeted as I hung up. Naraku plastered a fake smile.
“Is something wrong?” I asked and he chuckled sourly.
“Kikyo doesn't want to see me again and I have no idea why…” he said and sighed, I bit my bottom lip and he let out another set of chuckles. “It's obvious Inuyasha likes you and yet she still believes she has a chance.”
“She broke up with you for him?” Naraku sighed.
“Don't say it; I hate the sound of it. Worst of all of this is, I actually thought she just needed some time… I thought we had our future planned, I… I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her…” I felt terrible listening to his story so I patted his back, he smiled at me sympathetically. “I love you, you're like the younger sister I never had…”
“And you're the brother I wished I had…” he laughed a bit before hugging me for half a second and walking away.
“Take care of yourself… and of your sister,” Naraku said as he formed up a sigh.
“I'll try,” I replied softly as I watched him go away; I felt sorry for him… I really did, he loved Kikyo so much yet she was willing to let him go to fight for someone who didn't love her back. “How sad…”
“It's not sad, it's life.” I looked back and saw my sister standing at the door; Kikyo stared at me for a moment before speaking again. “Get inside, it's getting cold and getting sick isn't good for the baby,”
“Did you seriously break up with him for Inuyasha?” I asked softly as I followed Kikyo inside, I was scared of my sister's reaction but she simply sighed.
“My relationship wasn't perfect anymore and it's better to cease it than to suffer for the lack of happiness… and about Inuyasha…” she turned to look at me for a second before turning her eyes towards the floor. “… Time will tell me what it was,”
I was about to ask Kikyo what she meant by it when my phone started ringing and before I could greet my friend was already speaking.
“You promised details!” Sango half screamed and I smiled… my talk with Kikyo could wait.
“Where should I start?”
