~ “That way!” Kagome yelled pointing as she rode on Kilala's back with Miroku and Sango, InuYasha had refused to carry her on the pretence that he need to he free to fight immediately ~
Having stumbled upon his brother, exlover and love of his life-which he'd stupidly turned away from InuYasha didn't know what to do. He'd always known he and Sesshoumaru would met again but he'd kind of figured they'd once again be enemies so having found his elder brother vomiting he was at a loss.
Watching Sesshoumaru rise with a grace and dignified air that no one should have after being as violently ill as his brother had been only seconds before InuYasha had to say he was impressed. His brother looked good, ethereal, with a glow to him most sick people didn't have.
“If you're here for a fight, brother, you'll have to come back another time,” Sesshoumaru said looking at his brother…the father of the pup he now held in his `womb'. Just the sight of the younger male hurt, his rejection of Sesshoumaru bringing an annoying burn to his eyes. Those golden orbs so like his own, their fathers…their pups, widened and as he looked on his brother sniffed the air and frowned.
InuYasha could have sworn he'd smelt a feminine hint to his brothers scent, a feminine hint he'd only ever smelt on breeding women…pregnant women.
Before he could voice his confusion Sesshoumaru turned and began to walk away though not before he caught a hint of the pain his brothers' cold mask was failing to hide. Shocked he stood frozen only to bolt after his brother just as his friends came through the bushes.
“Sesshoumaru!” he called knowing better than to yell after the older demon, he knew how much it pained his love. Braking out of the forest InuYasha was once again taken a back by what his elder brother was doing.
He was kneeling by a creek, his back to the half-breed, drinking. He watched with fascination as his brother swished water around his mouth, spat it out, repeating those actions a number of times before finally to face his half-breed lover.
Just as his pack broke through the thicket Sesshoumaru replied “Yes little brother,” the sneer that would have, should have accompanied those two words not there, just a slight bitterness. “InuYasha what are you doing chasing Sesshoumaru around?!” Kagome snapped glaring at the silver hair competition for her loves affections.
Ignoring the girl InuYasha went to ask his brother if he was all right when a rather vicious looking trio of boar demons stepped out of the bushes, immediately attacking Sesshoumaru.
Instead of fighting back; as was expected, his brother hastily stepped backwards, into the creek. A soft gasp torn from his throat as his only hand went to cover his stomach were his beautiful pup lay growing, changing…waiting.
His slightly panicked gaze going quickly to InuYasha; who rushed to intervene, Tetsusaiga already draw as he put himself between his mate and the advancing trio. “What's this? Pretty puppy Sesshoumaru getting protection from a half-breed mutt?” the largest boar snorted.
Looking away, unable to meet any of the gazes in the clearing Sesshoumaru sighed as his instincts screamed at him to leave, to protect his unborn.
“You are not worthy of this Sesshoumaru's time,” he said coolly re-meeting the boars black gaze.
“Yeah, right,” it sneered as its snout flexed, “high and mighty dog boys gone and got himself with pup!” it grunted its eyes gleaming as it grinned at the flush on the lords high cheek bones.
“That matters not,” the daiyoukia replied glaring coldly at the demon. When the boars renewed their attack InuYasha quickly dispatched of them, though they were harder to kill than most and tossed the three shards to Kagome. Turning back to his silent sibling InuYasha asked softly “Sesshoumaru are you alright?” which earned him a glare, one that lacked any punch.
Turning on his heals Sesshoumaru began to walk away only to have InuYasha snap at him, “Hay don't you walk away from me without answering you cold heartless bastard!” Which hit more than one nerve.
InuYasha knew better than anyone that he was no where near cold nor was he heartless, heartbroken mayhap but not heartless. So enraged by those words, so cut that his brother could still think of him that way Sesshoumaru turned, his tail and hair flaring at the fast movement and glared at the younger demon not realising that tears were collecting in his long dark lashes.
“Heartless am I? I'm not the one who walked away, ran away, from their mate, let alone their pregnant one!” he snapped his hand coming to rest on his slightly distended stomach, a habitual gesture he'd recently gotten.
“And I will do as I please because you walked first so if I wish to leave your presence I damn well will!” he all but cried as his tears began to flow both from his mates nearness and from the overload of hormones that were making his emotions nearly impossible to control.
Turning on his heals he ran no longer caring what they thought of him.
“Sesshoumaru! Wait!” he heard his brother call but like so much he ignored him as a pulse beat rushed through him and he knew instinctively that his pup, now a third of the way through its development, was trying to reassure him.
I love him, pup, and he hates me and though I know he has every right to wish me death it still hurts, he thought to his young and was pleasantly surprised as his pup sent him another wave of warmth and comfort.
Pausing mid run Sesshoumaru once again felt a cold rush of fear that burned through his body, now that he was expecting he wouldn't be able to fight.
One; his yoki would be very depleted along with some of his physical health, especially as his pregnancy progressed.
Two; his every instinct was to flee; the incident with the boars moments ago had proven that.
And lastly any type of abdominal wound could potentially harm his young and much to his distaste he was lonely, he wanted another of his kind, one that would have instincts more or less identical to his own.
He'd wanted this with InuYasha, had most of his brothers life.
But if anything happened to his pup he'd die, just as the deaths of his mother and father, estranged though they were had killed him, for not all deaths are physical.
One of the main reasons for his hatred of InuYasha was actually based on his fear that should he let his now beloved brother into his already battered heart InuYasha would destroy him.
Using his sleave he dried his tears, he walked over to the cliff edge he stared at the setting sun not moving a muscle as InuYasha and his wolf prince friend came into the clearing.
“Oi, Ru!” InuYasha snapped and his breath caught as he watched his elder sibling turn, the setting sun making his brother shine, as a gentle breeze moved the long strands of his long silver hair and leaves and small flowers moved around him.
Looking like that even Koga, who though not homophobic was strictly straight had to admit the demonic lord was beautiful, a true sight to see and a small smile touched Kogas face when he noticed were the lords hand was.
It rested on his stomach, gesture the lord had made often in the brief meetings during the chace, his face though mostly blank had softened , his eyes not cold but warm as they searched InuYasha's face.
Evidently he found what he was looking for because he began to speak.
“Yes, InuYasha, I am carrying your pup. I…sigh…I know you hate me, I cannot blame you for this after everything we've been through, I've put your through,” his gaze dropped as if he were trying to draw answers or words from the patchy, rocky ground.
“I hope that the feelings you have for me don't pass on to our pup, that you will find it in your heart to do what I could not,” Sesshoumaru said so softly that only InuYasha, Koga and Shippo and Kilala both of whom had just arrived, could hear. The three humans in InuYasha's pack watching on blindly.
“Sesshoumaru…I…I don't hate you,” InuYasha said his hurt plain as day on his expressive face.
Giving a bitter bark of laughter which caused everyone in the clearing to jump Sesshoumaru said “How can you not,” his burningly brittle gaze on his brother. “First, out of stupidity or desperation I make you believe I hate you, when I don't. Then I allow you to mate with me without telling you of the possibility of a pup!” the lord said as tears once again spilled forth.
“I have taken so much from you. I even tried to take the one thing father left for you by father. Kami knows out pup my hate me too and I…I will never be able to blame either of you for it is my own fault!” Sesshoumaru said chocking on a sob.
“So now you know,” he said his voice falling back down to a whisper “You know that your `cold' and `heartless' brother is the idiot you named him years a go and that he bares your pup.”
“I have given you the information I set out to give you, do with it as you will,” Sesshoumaru said as his pinkish cloud surrounded him, taking him away.

Interesting Naraku thought as he watched the interplay between the mated brothers, Sesshoumaru's evident breakdown had brought even more information into the playing field and it was making all his plans fall to pieces.
Something he did not relish.
No, but that Sesshoumaru could bare pups was a little bit of information he doubted many had known before the lord had rocked up with a belly full of baby.
Yes, he could use this to his advantage.
Yes he could he thought as he watched Koga turn to the stunned younger brother…
