Kagome: Now look at what you did! You made her cry!

Tsukikage: Shippo…..?

Shippo: Yes?

Tsukikage: Go do your part….

Shippo: *nod* Lady Tsukikage doesn't own the cast of Inu-Yasha. If she did, she'd be rich! But she isn't. The cast is owned by Rumiko Takahashi!

Inu-Yasha and Kagome were loudly arguing while Kouga was forgotten. It quickly ended with a…

"Sit sit sit sit sit sit sit…" She took a deep breath and continued "Sit sit sit sit sit sit sit sit SIT!!"

Kouga peered down the 10-foot Inu-Yasha-shaped hole "Ouch" he mumbled. Kagome stomped into the forest.

"B-but K-kagome…"

"SIT"

Moonlight: On to Chapter two!

Chapter Two: Oh, Starry Night

Waiting for Kagome to come back, Kouga sat down by the fire. When Inu-Yasha finally became unstuck, he jumped into a tree branch to sulk. Everyone else besides Shippo was asleep. "Where's Kagome?" Shippo wailed. He then jumped up to Inu-Yasha and yelled into Inu-Yasha's sensitive ears "You better not have made kagome so mad that she left, dog boy! Or else you'll hear it from me, got it, dog boy?!" Kouga couldn't help but to smirk `the kit is rather possessive of Kagome... As if she was his mother...'

Inu-Yasha batted Shippo away

"Shut up, you stupid squirrel!"

"I'm a fox, stupid! A fox. Do you have knotholes for eyes?!"

Inu-Yasha got up and angrily retorted "You know what? I don't have to put up with you! Tell that wench when she comes back that I had some business to attend to!" With that, he was gone. Kouga rolled his eyes `such an insolent puppy. And he says he's not! Feh. He acts more like one than any other hanyou.'

An hour later, Kagome sleepily walked back to the campsite. As she began to unpack the ramen for dinner she asked, "Where's Inu-Yasha?" Shippo just shrugged "He said something about have some business to do or something like that..." Kagome paused from taking out the ramen packages, "Oh... I better go look for him then..." Kouga looked up at her, "Forget the dog turd. What is this stuff, anyway?" Shippo piped up, "Kagome called it "instant ramen". They come in different flavors. This one's... beef! My favorite!" Kagome gave a small smile and began preparing the ramen. `Does Kagome truly love Inu-Yasha and I'm only in the way? It seems to be unrequited love to me since Inu-Yasha continuously insults Kagome...' Kouga continued to ponder where Kagome's affections laid. "Here, Kouga." Kouga looked up. Kagome was offering him a bowl of ramen while Shippo was cheerfully eating his own share. "Try it." Kagome encouraged, "Maybe you'll enjoy it." Kouga took the bowl and sniffed it. It smelled ... GOOD. Kouga began to eat.

Moonlight followed Kagome when she ran off after her argument with Inu-Yasha. She watched as Kagome ran to a big, flat boulder, crying as if her very heart would break. Kagome collasped on the boulder and continued to cry. Quietly, Moonlight jumped down from her perch in the trees. She looked at the young girl who held Kouga's heart. `Should I help her? She seems nice but she's also ruining my changes with Kouga...' While Moonlight was debating weather or not if she should interfere, she sensed a group of powerful youkai coming. `Shoot! How could I forget! Inu-Yasha called her a "shard detector." So the two of them must be gathering the shikon shards! And she probably has many of them too! I better go help her...'

During this discussion in her head, Moonlight briefly touched each of the three shards she wore on a chain. Each of them belonged to her parents and her sister. Her father had tried to rape her sister several times. Her sister, Luna, told her to be careful and about the times he tried. Their father tried to rape her again but his time, her mother intervened. Moonlight obeyed her mother and ran to hide. But only for a moment. She ran to Kouga's father, the pack leader at the time. She told him what was happening but he didn't believe that a person such as her father would do such a thing. But, thankfully, Kouga was running to tell his father something. "Kegasu's attacking his mate, Shina, and his elder daughter, Luna. His younger daughter was nowhere to be found!" Kouga's father quickly replied "Moonlight's right here", and ran to where Moonlight told him they were. When they arrived, they saw Luna lying unconscious, apparently been thrown against the wall, and Kegasu fighting Shina. Kouga's father ordered Kegasu to give up the shard and cast him out. Shina, died from her wounds and her last wish was for the shards to be given to her younger daughter and that the two sister lived together peacefully. Luna gave Moonlight her shard and the shards their parents had as their mother requested. What the pack found strange was when the corrupted shard from Kegasu was given to Moonlight, it was immediately purified.

Moonlight looked up at the sky to gaze at the stars. Like she did every possible night she could since she was just a pup. She closed her eyes, remembering a particular song she used to sing while thinking about Kouga…

*I've waited all my life
For the day when love appears
Like a fairy tale in days gone by
He will rescue me from my fears*

`Will I ever tell him how much he means to me?' Moonlight wondered `Will he even care?'

*And now I feel him standing close to me
And how can I tell him what he means to me
My heart stands still - has he come?

Oh starry night
Is this the moment I dream of?

Tell me, is he my own true love?

Every night I think of him
Here in my lonely room
Waiting for my prince to come
Wondering if he'll be here soon

And I sit patiently, waiting for a sign

`Does he love me? Or is this the one-sided love I heard so many people talk about? Where I give my love, but it's not returned?' Moonlight couldn't help to wonder.

`Is he my true love? Or is he another Kenji? By my Goddess, this is confusing!' Moonlight was confused about her feelings again. `Maybe I should ask Laur-chan. But then again, she already has a mate…'

How will I know
Will his love show?
Is he my own true love?*

Moonlight shook her head, trying to get rid of the memories. She softly asked Kagome "Daijoubou desu ka?" Kagome jumped with a startled "Eep!" Moonlight held out her hand, "Come on, you DON'T want to sleep on a rock. Trust me, it hurts!" Kagome looked at Moonlight, "Why are you helping me? Why aren't you attacking me like any other youkai would?" she demanded. Moonlight tilted her head, "Well, maybe because I'm not any other youkai. Do notice the differences." Kagome nodded and then suddenly gasped , "You have three shards!" Moonlight laughed, "Yes, I can see that. My name's Moonlight of the Western Lands wolf pack. What's yours?" Kagome blushed, "Sorry for not introducing myself. Watashi wa Kagome." Moonlight nodded, "It's a pleasure to be finally introduced to you." Kagome looked at her strangely, "Finally?" Moonlight smacked herself in the head, `Shoot! Wasn't supposed to say that! Baka, baka, baka, baka, baka!' "I... um... kinda overheard your conversation with my pack leader. But don't tell him! He'll have my hide!" Kagome smiled, "So, Kouga's your pack leader? That's ni-" Moonlight suddenly hissed "Shh! There's a group of youkai coming! I can sense them!" Kagome's eyes widened, "How many?" she whispered. Moonlight spread out her ki, "About 25... Coming up from the south. They're still about a half mile away" She turned to Kagome, "Can you fight?" Kagome showed her the bow and arrows she always carried with her, "I'm a miko" she added. Moonlight processed this information and nodded, "Go up a tree and hide. Then they won't be able to know where the arrows are coming from!" Kagome began to climb a tree, "Be careful! They have at least two shards among them!"

Moonlight waited for the youkai to appear, `Shit! At least two shards? Not good. I hope Kagome's ready...' That was her last peaceful thought before the youkai arrived. They were a variety of white tigers, nekos, and snake youkais. "Well, well, well... Look at what we have here..." purred one of the cat demons. Moonlight didn't reply. It was a custom for the youkai to taunt each other during the fight. Moonlight that it was just a waste of breath. Seeing that the white wolf wasn't going to reply, they attacked.

Moonlight quickly took down a bunch with a "Claws of Venom!" Arrows with a bright blue aura flew out of every direction, striking the youkais. Moonlight quickly made several illusions of herself when the youkai were searching for the source of the arrows. `Hmm... Now if one of the youkai attacks an illusion, there will be a big...' Moonlight thought as a cat demon attacked one...

*crackle crackle crackle*

BOOM!

`Boom' she finished. She giggled at the astonished youkais. Well, the REMAINING youkais anyway. `How amusing!' Her thought was cut short when Kagome fell out of the tree when the tiger slammed into it from the blast. Moonlight ran to catch her but she knew she would never get there in time. She suddenly saw a flash of silver plush Kagome from the air. She was surprised to see Sesshomaru, Lord of the Western Lands holding Kagome. While she stared, he simply intoned "Behind you." Moonlight swiftly turned and slashed the youkai with her sword, Themis. Sesshomaru took down several with the Toukijin. Finally the last demon was a snake you. Moonlight calmly said "Go. Tell your master not to bother me anymore. Go before I..." She trailed off when the youkai streaked off.

Moonlight looked back at Sessho-maru and Kagome. "Arigato, Sesshomaru-sama. For catching me" Kagome said, blushing. Sesshomaru nodded in acknowledgement to the thank-you and swiftly left. Kagome continued to stare at the direction he left. Noticing this, Moonlight couldn't help but to tease Kagome. "hmmm... Looks like someone's falling in ai, ne?" Kagome's blush grew darker and she stammered "L-love? I-iie! I'm not!" Grinning knowingly, Moonlight she nodded and said, "That's what they all say... Go back to camp, Kagome, it's getting late..." She turned to leave but when she received no reply, she turned around again. "Nani?! She's already asleep? She should really go back before her friends get worried" She tried to gently nudge Kagome awake. But when that didn't work, she said "Oh, hi, Sesshomaru!" Kagome bolted up "Huh? Where is he?" See Moonlight alone, grinning, she narrowed her eyes. "He's not here is he?" Moonlight shook her head, still smiling "It's time for you to go back to camp before your friends and Kouga get worried and start looking for you. Remember, don't tell Kouga okay?" Kagome slowly got up and nodded, "Well I guess, ja ne!" Waving, they both left for different destinations. Kagome to the camp and Moonlight to her home with the pack.

Tsukikage: Chapter 2 completed! I'm currently working on another story but I'm writing it out first. Chapter 3 should be up in a few days!

Kouga: Okay. Before she starts crying, review!

Moonlight: Yeah… I guess they can be…

Kagome: I think it's just so we don't say the "s" words…

Tsukikage: that could be true….
