Well, I suppose this isn't a VERY important chapter, but hey, the old, she's mad at him and he's mad at her but they both don't want to be mad thing going on. Wait, I think I just confused myself...
~~~ ^.^ ~~~
The next day, Kagome woke up early and got dressed, she went downstairs and waved as her Mother left for work. She made herself a small breakfast, and picked at it a little. She cleaned all the dishes, and then mopped the floor. She gave the cats a bath, then took them out to dry off as she hung up the laundry. Even though they had a perfectly good drying machine, her Mother liked to save as much money as possible. Once she was done she took the now extremely fuzzy cats back inside, and fed them a bit of tuna. Once she was done vacuuming the whole house, it was time for lunch.
Kagome forced herself to eat a thick, loaded sandwich, and then she picked at some pickle chips. She cleaned her dishes, and then watched some day time television. She checked the laundry, and then swept the porch and around outside some. She was bored. Kagome decided to do some gardening and she walked down to the gardening store a few block away from her house. She went inside and smiled to the sales lady, who as watering some plants. She picked up a few small flowers, and a small bag of fertilizer. She even picked up a cute little sign that said 'Momma's Garden'.
When Kagome got home she continued gardening. Once she was finished she took a shower just to pass some time. When she got out she walked around in a towel, brushing her hair and dancing and singing to music videos. She looked at the clock, and sighed. It was only three thirty? What the hell? Oh well, she continued to dance as she put her hair up and got dressed in the front room. She even picked up one of the kittens and danced with him on her shoulder. Kagome stumbled when she heard the phone ring. She put the cat down and picked up her Capri's, walking to the phone.
She sat down and picked up. "Hello?" she asked.
"Um, yes, Kagome?" she recognised Inuyasha's voice.
"Hi." Kagome said. "This is Inuyasha right?" she said making sure.
He laughed a little. "Last time I checked, yah. Um, I was just... Just calling you know. No real reason. You're not busy, are you?" he asked.
"Oh, no, not busy. I was just getting dressed." she said folding her Capri's and putting them in her lap.
Inuyasha paused. "Well, I thought that, maybe we could go see the house today, instead of Saturday. I mean, I'm just bored. I need something to do." he sighed. "You wanna go out?" he asked.
"Are you asking me out on a date, Mr. Soma?" Kagome asked smiling.
Inuyasha laughed. "Only if you say yes." he said.
"Well, I suppose I don't have much better to do. Shall we say, five?" she asked.
"Sounds good." Inuyasha said.
Kagome smiled. "Jeans and a tee, or dress and heels type going out?" she asked.
"Oh, I wasn't thinking anything fancy, unless that's what you're up for." he said a little bored. "I was thinking, like, burgers, or pizza." he said.
"Well, the rich boy likes normal people food?" Kagome asked. Inuyasha chuckled. "Pizza, sounds good." she said smiling.
"Great, I'll pick you up at five, we can go by the house and I can take you to Alma's." he said.
"Okay, bye." Kagome said.
"Bye." Inuyasha said, he hung up the phone and smiled. He went back into the bedroom and looked outside, he loved the penthouse. He had to bribe the woman who had been here just to move to the floor below. Inuyasha loved the penthouse, it was the best. And he always had the best.
He went to the closet and took out a pair of jeans and a green t-shirt that had a hazard sign on the front. He looked at himself in the mirror, and took the shirt off. He scanned through his shirts. Inuyasha took out a black t-shirt. Simple, clean. Perfect. He looked at himself in the mirror. Did he look okay? Why did he care if he looked okay?! Argh! Inuyasha ran his hands over his face up and down a few times, then he ran his fingers up into his hair. What the hell was wrong with him?
Inuyasha went to brush his hair, and then he tied it back, it was windy today. Today should be nice, Mother was keeping Father very, very occupied today, he knew because she had ended the the conversation that morning with; "Look, I'd love to chat, but I really want to go have nice hot sweaty sex with your Father, okay?" He didn't plan to call her back, he had known this past week that she would be in heat soon, and his Father would be all over her for at least a few more days.
~~~ <.< ~~~
Kagome rushed upstairs when she got off the phone. She pulled on a pair of khaki Capri's and took off her stained t-shirt. She went through her drawers. White shirt? Blue? Hmm. Yellow? No, that looked like crap. White? Kagome took out the white shirt and put it to herself. No, they were going out for pizza. But it looked so cute... And she felt like wearing blue today. She took off her khakis and took out a pair of blue cotton ones. She put them on... they were a little tighter than she remembered.
Kagome decided on neither blue Capri's, or a white shirt, instead she went with a blue dress. It was nice, proper, and tight around her breast and hips. It loosened around her thighs, thankfully. She spun a little, and smiled, tying a white scarf around the strap of her purse in case she wanted to pull her hair back later. She went downstairs and went into the kitchen, she began to color code a bag of M&Ms as she waited.
While she was sitting there, she wondered why she was going out with him today. Why did she want to go out with him? This was the man she was being forced to marry. The man she'd have to spend the rest of her life with. Oh well, she didn't know his cell phone number to tell him not to come.
Five o'clock rolled around and no Inuyasha. She sighed, and brushed her hair for a while. At five ten she heard a knock on the door, and she turned the tv off as she went out into the hall. Kagome opened the door and smiled. "Hey." she said.
"Hey... ready to go?" he asked taking his sunglasses off.
"Uh, yah. I just need to call my Mom first. I thought she'd be home by now." Kagome said.
"Okay, I'll wait out here." Inuyasha said, Kagome nodded and went back inside. Inuyasha stepped off the porch and then looked at his feet smelling a cat. It was only a fuzzy little kitten, female by the smell of it. He smiled, and bent down, stroking her back with his talons. He could hear her purring loudly. Even though Inuyasha was half inuyoukai, he did like cats. He didn't like living with one, but he liked them.
Kagome came back out when Inuyasha sat down and picked up the kitten. He looked back up at her and she smiled. "How'd you get out?" she asked the cat.
As though understanding her, the kitten meowed pitifully, and rubbed herself on Inuyasha's chest. He picked her up and the kitten pawed at his nose. Kagome sat down with him. Inuyasha blinked his eyes quickly at her, and the kitten's head moved closer to sniff his eyes. She put her paws up on his eyes and he laughed pulling her away. She meow, and tried to get back to the flickering things on his face. "Here, go to her." he said putting the female kitten on the porch between them
Trixie ran over to the door and slipped inside meowing. Kagome smiled. "She normally doesn't even let Sota touch her."
"Cats love me." Inuyasha said shrugging.
"Do you have any pets?" Kagome asked.
"Oh, no. No, I'm too busy to keep a pet. I've got a couple dogs out at the family home, but I gave them to my cousin two years ago." he explained.
A moment later both kittens appeared at the door, and they slipped out heading right for Inuyasha. Kagome smiled and scooped them up. "Okay, inside with both of you." she said standing. She took them inside and locked the door. Inuyasha stood. "We can go now." Kagome said smiling a little.
Inuyasha started away and Kagome followed. They walked over to the huge set of stairs and Inuyasha just looked down as Kagome began down to the car. She looked back up at him. "Come on." she said. Inuyasha jumped off and Kagome looked to see him fall and land gracefully at the bottom. When she reached the bottom he opened the car door for her. "You leaped all the way down here, and let me go on my own?" she asked getting in the car.
"Most people get freaked out when I jump around with them." he said closing the door and going around.
Inuyasha got in and started the car. "Okay, so," he said looking at Kagome. "I'll take you to see the house, then we can go get something to eat. If you want we can stop by the shops my Mother recommended for furniture. But only if you're up for it." he said. Kagome shrugged, and smiled. Inuyasha pulled out and started down the road.
"My Mom said she likes you." he said conversationally.
Kagome nodded. "She was nice. Your Dad though... he was..." she said awkwardly, scratching behind her ear.
"He's a hard man to please. Don't let him get to you." Inuyasha said smiling. "The best thing you can do, is just be yourself. Honestly." he said.
Kagome nodded, and fiddled with her seat belt a little. She felt awkward again. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Inuyasha glanced at her. He smiled. "You look nice." he said, obviously trying to start some sort of conversation.
"Thank you." she said smiling, pushing her hair behind her ears. "It's not much, I didn't feel like getting all dressed up today." she said shrugging. Inuyasha nodded understandingly.
"My Mother said she'd like for you to come by the shop sometime, so she can get you a custom designer dress. She does it for most of her good friends. And she wants me to make sure that I get you some nice jewelry to wear, from her shop of course. She likes people wearing her jewelry out, since her name isn't very big yet." he explained. "Sesshomaru buys some things every once in a while, for his high class whores of course." Inuyasha said boredly. "Mangy bastard, he's married you know. But he couldn't keep his dick in his pants. He's either very loyal to you, or he's not. And turns out, that he wasn't loyal to the woman he was marrying.
"He had sex with one of his whores right before the ceremony. But, Kagura didn't find out until a few hours later. When she found out she went ballistic, and smashed everything in reach. Sesshomaru tried to reason with her, but she wouldn't listen. He had sworn that from then on that he'd be faithful, because they were to be mated, they were already married, she had wanted a wedding. But she only slapped him and left. I don't think he's seen her since." he said shrugging.
"Did you say, Kagura?" Kagome asked, looking at him.
Inuyasha glanced at her and nodded. "Yah, didn't she ever tell you?" he asked her.
Kagome shook her head. "So, so Sesshomaru's the 'Fucking Mutt' she's always ranting about when she gets drunk?"
Inuyasha shrugged. "Probably." he said.
"Well, that explains a lot. Does your brother like the extremely materialistic, attention demanding, loves to be worshiped kind of women?" Kagome asked.
"Yah, see my dad and Sesshomaru share a lot of views on women, no offense. Both of them think that if a woman does her part in a relationship, cook, clean, raise the children, then there's no reason not to treat her like a queen. Sesshomaru treated Kagura like a queen, but I don't know how he took it, she probably gave it up night and day." Inuyasha said laughing.
"Can't a guy just like treating his girl well without her fucking him constantly?" she asked.
"Not, with my brother, trust me. There was definitely something everyone else wasn't seeing." he said quietly.
Kagome let it go, she'd ask Kagura about it later, and there was no way she was going to forget either. The rest of the drive was fairly quiet, Inuyasha asked a few questions, but Kagome only gave simple answers. When she started seeing bigger yards, and small fields of grass, she smiled. Living in the city, you didn't get much of nature. But the rural area died down, and soon they were back in a city area.
They turned and drove along it for a few minutes, then they turned away and around a corner to another road. It took another few minutes, but Kagome soon saw the crane, trucks, and workers buzzing around a half finished house. She noticed that it wasn't as far from Tokyo as she had thought it would be.
"We're here." he said smiling as he pulled into the long drive, he parked, unbuckling and getting out of the car. Kagome followed, and looked around, some of the workers noticed them, some didn't. They were soon approached by an official looking man
The man walked up and smiled, as he got closer, Kagome noticed that his ears were very pointed, and his eyes were and unnaturally bright yellow, almost, white even in the light. "Inuyasha, how are you?" the man asked as he took off a white cap.
"Fine, fine, I just came to check on things." he said quietly. "Mairan this is Kagome." he said, turning to Kagome.
"Oh! Hi!" the man said, stepping over and extending a hand. Kagome shook his hand, and found it a little difficult to pull away. "Oh sorry," the man said as he took his hand back. "You know what they say about suction hands." he joked. Kagome had no idea what the man was talking about, she smiled and nodded.
"Well it's great to see you, Inuyasha. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see?" he asked.
"Well, do you have the blue prints handy?" he asked.
They stuck around for about half an hour, Inuyasha and Mairan showed her around, pointing to where what would be.
Once they were back in the car Inuyasha smiled to her. "What do you think?"
"It'll be nice when it's finished. Very nice." she said looking
"Mairan's a family friend, his Father designed the palace up north." Inuyasha said, trying to make conversation. "He lives two or three miles from us, with his youngest sister and wife." he explained. Kagome nodded, staying quiet.
"You don't like being around me, do you?" he asked.
Kagome looked at him. She shrugged.
The small corner restaurant he took her was a quite cosy place, name Alma's. With smooth dark red stone floors, each table sitting out a green rug of it's own. There were a line of pizzas sitting under heat lamps and a nice salad bar. Kagome and Inuyasha went up to the counter, the young man who ran the register was transporting dough from the back when they walked up, he said he'd only be a minute. They could see into the kitchen, three people working on pizzas routeenly.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Let's just get our own pizza." Kagome suggested.
"Salads?" he asked, she nodded. "Bread sticks, cheesy bread?" he asked.
"Cheesy bread sounds good." Kagome said smiling.
"Pepperoni?" he asked.
"With black olives?" she asked smiling, he nodded.
When the young man came back Inuyasha ordered, then they took their plates for the salads and went over to the island bar to get them. Kagome made hers quietly, watching as Inuyasha put a variety of toppings on his, including pickles, green olives and a lemon wedge. She smiled and then started over to a booth by the wall. He followed, and sat down opposite her.
"Nice, isn't it?" he asked looking around at the green walls and old fashioned lighting. There was a big television across the room, a few children from separate groups were sitting at a table in front of it watching cartoons quietly. Kagome nodding, taking a bite of the crisp salad.
"So," Inuyasha said queezing his lemon over his plate. "I was thinking, that until the place is done we can stay at the hotel, and then move into the house." he said. Kagome nodded quietly. "You know, you can talk to me." he said quietly, leaning onto the table on his elbows.
"I know." Kagome said, smiling a little at him.
Their meal was quiet, Kagome only listened to Inuyasha talk mainly, and she made sure to get the rest of the pizza in a to go box for a midnight snack. When he ordered mini dessert pizzas for them, he looked at Kagome and smiled. "Well, Kagome I was thinking, about Tuesday. If you want a wedding, even a small one, it'll be okay with me." he said quietly.
Kagome looked at him. "Your mom?" she asked.
Inuyasha nodded. "She convinced me." he explained. "If you want a proper wedding, it can still be arranged, it'll be rushed, but we can do it."
"No." Kagome said shaking her head a little. "I don't see the point." she said honestly, looking straight into his eyes. He was confused. "I think weddings are for people who want to be married-"
"Kagome I want to get married." he said quickly.
"People who chose the person their marrying. You may not want to accept it, but I don't want to marry you." she said shrugging. "I was in love, and you ruined that for me. He wanted to marry me, make me his bride. But no, my Mom sits me down on my nineteenth birthday and tells me she knows how serious we were about each other. And she told me that I had to break up with the man of my dreams, because I had a fiance already. You ruined my life, whether you want to accept, or believe it." she said, coldly.
Inuyasha stared at her. "Kagome, do you think it's me whose forcing you into this? Don't you think I've had love before? But as soon as I felt it I broke it off, because I knew you were there. Don't try to play with me, as though I'm the bad guy. I'm the one who's giving you a home, furniture to sleep on, and from Tuesday on, I'll be putting food in your mouth, and clothes on your back. Don't even play the pity card on me, about how I ruined your life. My life was ruined since the moment I was conceived." he said, he was starting to get angry.
She didn't know how good she had it. She was going to one of the wealthiest families in Japan. She would have a nice place to live, money to spend how she wanted, and a husband that would take care of her. She had it way better than some of the people he had to deal with when he was working with his Father.
"Well don't play the pity card with me, just because your a hanyou." Kagome snapped. "At least you knew about me. At least you are the one who gets to be in control when we get married. 'What the husband says goes. When the husband is hungry you cook for him. When the husband says clean, you clean. When the husband says you do something, you do it. When the husband wants you, you give yourself to him.'." she said, reciting perfectly as she had heard it.
Inuyasha stared at her. He stood, and headed for the counter to pay. Kagome stayed where she was, sipping her drink. She didn't want to get married, she didn't want to live with him, she didn't want him at all. And she wasn't going to lead him to any other conclusions. When she heard him call her name, she got up and walked over to the door, he led her out and to the car, not bothering to open her door for her this time.
He started the car as she sat down, and he pulled out of the parking space while she was still closing her door. He didn't look at her as he drove down the roads, turned, and headed back towards Tokyo. Kagome stared out the window, they were in one of the most uncomfortable silences she had ever been in.
He kept his eyes on the road, Kagome couldn't read his emotion, and that bothered her. Normally she could tell exactly how someone was feeling, but Inuyasha, it was just a negative, yet emotionless face.
When he pulled up at the bottom of the stone steps, Kagome didn't move. She looked at him, he had his hands on the steering wheel, staring at the road in front of him. "Look-"
"Shut up." he interrupted. "Don't talk to me right now. I'll pick out the furniture, one of my parents will call you either Sunday or Monday, have your things packed and ready to be moved by Tuesday afternoon. Get out." he said, she hated that tone, it was the same as his face, negative, yet emotionless.
"I just wanted to say-" Kagome began, but Inuyasha looked at her, and she didn't like the look, it was worse when it was directed at you.
"Get out." he said again, quietly.
Kagome got out of the car, and he peeled away, she sighed. She hadn't meant to hurt his feels that bad, had she? She turned, and went up the many stone steps to the shrine yard. She went over to her house, and inside quietly.
When her Mother went to say something, she stopped, seeing the look on her daughter's face. Kagome felt bad about talking to him like that. He really was a nice guy. But, she didn't want to fool him into thinking she loved him, or had any feelings for him, because she didn't other than thinking he was sexy. She left her pizza with Sota, and went upstairs to her bedroom. She sat down at her desk, and picked up a pen. She clicked it, watching the metal tip come out of the plastic. She clicked it again, and again, and again and again.
She didn't know how many times she clicked the pen, but when someone knocked softly on her door, she stopped, and tossed the pen away. She watched it hit a book, and roll back towards her. "Come in..." she moaned quietly.
Sota came in, and walked over quietly. Kagome put her head in her hand, balancing it's weight on her elbow. Her brother leaned on the desk. "Wanna talk about it?" he asked softly.
YES! Her mind screamed. She wanted to talk about it, yell about it, scribbling it out on a blackboard, anything! She just need to get it out. All of it. Everything. And, who better to talk to then her family? Her little brother, who had, upon hitting puberty in a house of two women, turned out to be the best listener ever.
Kagome sat on her bed with him, and he put his arms around her shoulders. Kagome loved how he didn't ask questions right away, he let her think, he let her ponder quietly. After four or five minutes, he tipped his head and leaned it on hers. "So... tell what's wrong. Staring from the beginning." he said. Kagome leaned her head on his shoulder, and sighed. Slowly, she started to pour her feelings out to her personal therapist. Sota listened, and listened, and when she nearly began to cry, he listened.
When she was done, she had her head in her hands, crying softly. Sota rubbed her back. "You know what Mom says, the love comes later." he said, sounding too much like a parent. Kagome didn't like that. "I mean, Mom and Dad's marriage was arranged, and look at their past, they fell in love and had us." he said smiling. "Give 'em a chance, Kags." Kagome laughed, he and Miroku always called her that. Of course, it was much better than other things people had called her in the past. And thinking of Miroku, Kagome hadn't talked to him in a few days.
Sota rubbed her shoulder. "He didn't seem too bad when I met him. He can't have been too bad when you were alone. How about you and him go see that fire show? Kerri's in it, you know. She's in the background, but still in it." Kagome shook her head, she had seen the show several times when Kerri and Sota were dating, and didn't want to sit six inches from Inuyasha for two hours to watch it again. Besides, he was a youkai, he'd probably seen cooler things.
"Oh, and thanks for the hamsters." he said quietly.
Kagome smiled, she had decided to get him something that was slimy, or scaly, or had claws. Now the only problem would be keeping the cats away from the poor things. She lost her smile slowly, and leaned on him. "But what about Inuyasha? What am I gonna do?" she asked.
"Well, if you really felt uncomfortable, why don't you just take Miroku with you next time you see him?" Sota suggested. Kagome looked at him, that sounded like a really, really good idea.
~~~ >.> ~~~
The next day, at two, Kagome drove with Sota out to the airport. Miroku had jumped on the first flight back from America when Kagome called him. He had been on vacation with his Mother and Aunt, but he would never abandon Kagome in her time of need.
Kagome was waiting outside the entrance, leaning on the car while Sota scanned radio stations in it. She heard a yell, and looked up.
Miroku looked great, he was only wearing a pair of jeans and a button up white shirt, but he still looked great. From his short pony tail, to his flip flops, Kagome's best friend was a hot guy.
Kagome giggled and threw herself into his arms.
"How are you? I missed you soo much!" Miroku yelled, kissing her cheek. "Oh, and Mom sent a gift for you, you're gonna love it. It's in my luggage though. I'm sending them to your house, I'm staying there, right?" he asked, Kagome nodded.
Miroku hated being home alone for long periods of time, and his Mother wouldn't be back for another week and a half.
"Great! Okay, so this guy, he's actually a hanyou?" he asked, taking his sunglasses off and putting them in her hair. Kagome loved how he got right to the main topic.
"Yah, but, let's get going." Kagome said walking around the car.
Miroku put his carry-on in the back seat and opened the passenger door, looking down at Sota with his hands on his hips. "Hey Squirt." he said smiling. He took off his shoulder bag and pointed to the back seat.
"Love you too, Miroku." he said getting out for him. Miroku ignored him, and sat down in the front, setting his bag between his legs.
"Buckle up." Kagome said pulling her seat belt over her front. Sota followed, but Miroku rolled her eyes. "It's the law and there's cops at each entrance and exit." she said shrugging. He pulled the belt across himself as Kagome began to drive, and buckled it.
"God, I get seated next to this creepy guy who kept staring at my crotch the whole flight. Fucking weirdo. I was damn near about to hit him. Although," he said fiddling with the air conditioner as Kagome pulled out the side entrance. "I guess he couldn't help it, I mean, the stewardess was staring at me too." he said shrugging. Miroku was a very vain man, much like Kagura.
The ride was fun, Miroku telling stories of his trip, and how his Aunt had gotten drunk and kissed a telephone pole very passionately. Plus Kagome was informed of all the beautiful shopping spots and strip clubs, and how his Aunt had to translate everything for them. And of course, much to Sota's liking, Miroku told Kagome about a nude beach he had gone to, and how wonderful it had been.
When they got home Mama had a nice dinner waiting for Miroku, who had eaten little in the past sixteen hours. Considering he had been called last night, and got on a plane this morning, he hadn't had much the chance. And he didn't trust most of the air plane food.
Miroku of course, went to put comfortable clothing on, and Kagome went upstairs with two bowel of ice cream to eat while they talked.
Miroku was Kagome's emotional ladder, and her best friend in the entire world. It was nice how she could scream and holler about men all day, and normally he'd just explain that that was how men worked, not try to calm her down, or tell her it'd get better. Though sometimes it was like having a girlfriend instead, other times he was just like her big brother, but it was always like having her other half.
~~~ <.< ~~~
Kagome and Miroku did nothing all weekend, they ate, watched TV, laughed, and had fun. Of course they worked out a little, but then they went right back to having fun. On Sunday night they went out, and Kagura took them to a club uptown. It was an exclusive place, and Kagome and Miroku had no hope of getting in if Kagura wasn't there. All three of them forwent the dance floor and went right up to the third floor balcony. Kagome leaned on the railing by the wall, looking down past the second floor balcony to the dance floor. There were so many people, meshing together and dancing to the loud rock music playing. There were several colored lights on the ceiling, moving around on the people below.
It was strange, the first time Kagome had come here, she didn't understand what a youkai playhouse was. But now she understood. During the day, the majority of youkai were civilized, calm, collected people. At night, they flocked together and partied. But Kagome wasn't stupid enough to go down onto the dance floor, she'd be too scared of any of the males rubbing against her and not taking no for an answer.
Kagome drifted away from the railing, walking back to the booth where Kagura and Miroku sat. Kagura looked extra radiant tonight, donning a long, thin red dress that clung to her figure and black stilettos. Kagome was very jealous of Kagura's beauty, she had beautiful, red eyes, and purely jet black hair. Perky breast, and round hips. Kagura sipped on champagne while Miroku downed the rest of his wine cooler. Kagome though, decided not to be consuming alcohol tonight, and she picked up her bottled soda as she sat down.
Miroku looked great as well, wearing a light blue button down shirt, and tight white pants. It was funny how he could dress in anything, and loo great. Thankfully he was putting off trying to get laid, he wouldn't have much luck in a place like this.
Kagome, had also gone with simple clothing, a very loose, almost too flimsy black skirt and a white halter top. She had also tried leaving the house in flats, but Kagura had convinced her to wear a pair of white stilettos, stilettos that were starting to kill her feet. She didn't like her outfit, the top was too top, and the skirt was too flimsy.
Besides, she was to be married in only two days, the last thing she needed was to get a crush on any men who hit on her tonight. But even though there were some humans in this place, she was sure none of them would catch interest in her. Kagome leaned backed against the seat, and closed her eyes. "Let's go home." she said quietly.
"Not a chance." Miroku said smiling. "I'm having fun, even if we're not doing anything, it's cool to even be here. You guys hungry? Man I am hungry..." he said leaning his head back.
Kagura signaled one of the waitresses and took a menu for Miroku, who scanned over it eagerly.
Kagome ran her fingers into her hair. "Why can't we go home? We've got food there."
"So?- Kagura you okay?" Miroku asked.
Kagura looked very nervous, looking over Kagome's shoulder. She took her eyes away and swallowed a lump in her throat. "I'm fine." she said quickly. "Do you know what you want?" she asked Miroku, who shook his head.
"Don't." Kagura hissed when Kagome went to turn around. But Kagome didn't listen, she turned her head, and saw a familiar figure sitting up at the bar talking quietly with two women who were giggling together.
"Oh... hey, it's Inuyasha's brother." Kagome said smiling. "Your husband..." she said turning around again, Miroku's drink spraying out of his mouth over half the table.
Kagura's eyes widened, she clenched the tablecloth. "I don't know what your talking about." she snapped.
"You're married?!" Miroku shouted, choking on his drink a little still.
This of course, got Sesshomaru's attention, and Kagura turned her head away from him pretending to be very interested in her glass.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Miroku asked, not even trying to be quiet.
"Why don't you shut up?" Kagura snapped.
"Funny," said a deep voice over Kagome's shoulder. She looked up to see Sesshomaru standing there, looking very fine in a pair of black slacks, black dress shoes, and a dark blue button down shirt. He looked so proper, yet so incredibly seductive. "How easily humans can become intoxicated. Don't you think?" he asked Kagura.
"Should I call you brother from now on?" Kagome asked tilting her head up at him.
He looked at her for a second, as though wondering if he should eve acknowledge her presence. "No." he said dully.
"How's Rin?" Kagura asked.
"Fine."
"Who's Rin?" Kagome asked. "Wanna sit down?" she asked Sesshomaru.
"No," he said walking over to Kagura. He bent down and whispered into her ear.
He walked away, and Miroku giggled with his buzz. "Bet he's got a huge cock..." he said quietly.
Kagome always did wonder about his sexuality...
~~~ >.> ~~~
Monday morning, Kagome was sitting in the living room sewing a pair of Sota's jeans when she heard the phone ring. She walked over and sat down, picking it up, holding the needle and thread in her hand.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Um, hello. May I speak to Kagome?" a nice lady voice asked.
"Yes, this is Kagome, who's calling?" she asked.
"Oh, hi Kagome. It's Mrs. Soma." she said.
"Uh- hi." Kagome said setting the pants to the side. "What can I do for you?" she asked.
"Oh, well... I was calling to tell you that we're planning to pick you up tomorrow, and take you down to the courthouse. You know, so you can sign the papers and everything. And, after that he's taking you to the hotel." she explained.
Kagome nodded, and scratched behind her ear. "Um, did-... did Inuyasha say anything... I mean about-"
"About when he took you out?" she asked. "Yes, that's why I'm calling instead of him. He was very hurt by what you said, frustrated would be a better term really... Now, he's not around so I can speak clearly about this. Inuyasha's life has been hard, and he's almost gotten used to people giving him pity I think. The fact that you didn't give a damn, frustrated him, because he likes acting as though he has a harder life than anyone else. My son isn't perfect, he's far from, and he still has a lot to learn about other people, and how women work, how you work.
"I'm not sure how to say all this, I'm bad at speeches. But all I can tell you is that he really does want to get married. And he likes you, so you have, very little to worry about." she said quietly.
"I know." Kagome mumbled. "I mean, he's cool and all, but I'm just not ready to pretend that I want to marry him. I don't, and I wanted that to be clear to him."
"I think, deep down he understands that. But, we can talk about Inuyasha face to face, I don't like being personal on the phone. Now, tomorrow Inutaisho will come to pick you up, I don't know when yet. He'll take you down to the courthouse, you'll go before the judge, blah blah, you know. We'll all go out to dinner, you, Inuyasha, me, Inutaisho, and your Mother and Brother. Then, Inuyasha will take you back to his hotel room. That sound okay?" Mrs. Soma asked.
"I guess." Kagome mumbled.
"Well, we're also going to move some of your things, so you'll need to have them packed. I think Inutaisho is having a few movers do it."
"There's not a lot of things, it'll all fit into a car. It's not like I'm taking my bed or anything." Kagome said shrugging.
"Oh, well alright, I'll tell Inutaisho. I suppose I'll see you tomorrow then?" she asked.
"Yes." Kagome said nodding.
"Okay, I look forward to meeting your Mother. Make sure everyone is ready by five?"
"I will." Kagome said.
"Bye then." Mrs. Soma said.
Kagome hung up, and sat for a few moments, then she picked up her needle and thread and continued to sew Sota's jeans. She sighed heavily, so, the day was just around the corner then. Tomorrow, she'd be a wife, and tomorrow night, she'd fill the part. Kagome tried not to think about it too much. She wondered where they would eat dinner, and how Sango would react when she saw Inuyasha's ears.
~~~ <.< ~~~
Tuesday morning started off well. Kagome woke up, took a shower, and brushed her hair for an hour or so as she went to her closet to see what she would wear today. It had to be something nice, nothing too flashy, or thin. Sango had woken up a little sick, but after a couple cups of coffee and a shower she was fine. Then they all enjoyed a large birthday breakfast for Kagome, and she opened her presents smiling and happy to be with her family.
But of course Mama wasn't doing too well, and every time Kagome turned around or looked over she was getting a strange, sad look from her Mother. Who would bow her head, and find something to do.
Kagome knew this must be hard on her Mother, after all, she'd be frantic if a day rolled around and she suddenly had to let go of her baby girl.
Sota though, seemed all too calm. He spent most of his time Tuesday morning playing with his hamsters before and after breakfast, he had gotten some tube attachments to their small home, and put it up on the tall dresser so the kittens couldn't get up on it. At least, they couldn't yet. But of course, he lover watching them roll around in the clear plastic ball. Kagome sat with him for a while, then she heard her Mother calling her name, and she went downstairs.
Mama was by the door, there was someone outside. "Kagome, there's a package for you." she said stepping aside.
Kagome went to the door, there was a middle-aged man standing with a large, thin black package with a thin silver ribbon around it in his arms. "Ms. Kagome Higurashi?" he asked. she nodded. "This was to be delivered today for you." he said handing her the box, and a pretty white paper shopping bag at his feet. "Sign, please." he said.
"Who's this from?" she asked as Miroku eagerly took the packages.
The man took back his extended clipboard and looked at it. "A Mr... Soma, I. Soma." he said handing her the board and a pen.
"Inuyasha Soma or Inutaisho Soma?" she asked, shocked.
"Dunno, Lady. I get the package, I get the paper, and I deliver it, that's my job. If you want to know his name, or if you need a different size in something, please call the store. The number and address is on all the tags. Here." he said taking out the yellow piece of the form and handing it to her along with a pink business card.
"Holy Shit! This stuff is from Silver Leaf! Who's it from?!" Miroku screamed. Kagome closed the door and ran into the kitchen. "This is like- one of the most expensive stores in Tokyo! Look at this!" he said trying to keep calm.
Miroku already had the bag open, and now he was tearing into the box. Kagome let his as she went into the bag. She reached in, removing some of the tissue paper. She felt around, and then pulled out a gorgeous shoe. Her mouth dropped open.
"Holy shit..." Miroku said quietly.
"What is it?" Mama asked from the doorway.
"Diamonds!" Kagome screamed. "Diamonds on my shoes!" she added. The thin top straps of the spike hell had three little diamonds, as did the ones across the toes. "Five an a half karats on both of my shoes?! Eleven karats?! On my shoes?!" she squealed once she took out the other shoe, looking at the little tag on it.
Kagome looked at Miroku, who was completely speechless, looking into the open jewelry box in his hands. "Miroku? You okay?"
He nodded, turning it around.
Kagome's eyes widened, and the shoes suddenly became very unimportant, they dropped to the table as Kagome lunged forward. "I think I just had an orgasm." she panted, petting the pretty jewelry.
She would have said it was a necklace, if the simple word could explain the beautiful artwork. "Are these, real?" Kagome asked. Miroku nodded. "They're gorgeous." she whispered. She took the small advertising card from the top of the box. " 'Our Sleek Feline line was introduced to our store in May of 2006. Artist Jusoya Urai designed each set personally. This White Feline set is one of three in the world. Each earring in comprised of three, one point five karat diamonds. The White Feline necklace in comprised of sixty four .75 karat diamonds, and
" This set and similar sets can also be acquired by request, please contact store manager and owner Izayoi Soma in person to place any requests. For any questions/ comments please call our Tokyo store...' " Kagome read quietly.
"That's... point seventy five... times sixty four... three one point five karats..." Kagome fell into a nearby chair. "Eleven on my shoes. That's like, almost sixty four karats..." she whispered.
"Oh Kagome, look." Miroku said as he removed something long and red from the long box.

Can anyone guess what the long red thing is? I can. ^.^

The next day, Kagome woke up early and got dressed, she went downstairs and waved as her Mother left for work. She made herself a small breakfast, and picked at it a little. She cleaned all the dishes, and then mopped the floor. She gave the cats a bath, then took them out to dry off as she hung up the laundry. Even though they had a perfectly good drying machine, her Mother liked to save as much money as possible. Once she was done she took the now extremely fuzzy cats back inside, and fed them a bit of tuna. Once she was done vacuuming the whole house, it was time for lunch.
Kagome forced herself to eat a thick, loaded sandwich, and then she picked at some pickle chips. She cleaned her dishes, and then watched some day time television. She checked the laundry, and then swept the porch and around outside some. She was bored. Kagome decided to do some gardening and she walked down to the gardening store a few block away from her house. She went inside and smiled to the sales lady, who as watering some plants. She picked up a few small flowers, and a small bag of fertilizer. She even picked up a cute little sign that said 'Momma's Garden'.
When Kagome got home she continued gardening. Once she was finished she took a shower just to pass some time. When she got out she walked around in a towel, brushing her hair and dancing and singing to music videos. She looked at the clock, and sighed. It was only three thirty? What the hell? Oh well, she continued to dance as she put her hair up and got dressed in the front room. She even picked up one of the kittens and danced with him on her shoulder. Kagome stumbled when she heard the phone ring. She put the cat down and picked up her Capri's, walking to the phone.
She sat down and picked up. "Hello?" she asked.
"Um, yes, Kagome?" she recognised Inuyasha's voice.
"Hi." Kagome said. "This is Inuyasha right?" she said making sure.
He laughed a little. "Last time I checked, yah. Um, I was just... Just calling you know. No real reason. You're not busy, are you?" he asked.
"Oh, no, not busy. I was just getting dressed." she said folding her Capri's and putting them in her lap.
Inuyasha paused. "Well, I thought that, maybe we could go see the house today, instead of Saturday. I mean, I'm just bored. I need something to do." he sighed. "You wanna go out?" he asked.
"Are you asking me out on a date, Mr. Soma?" Kagome asked smiling.
Inuyasha laughed. "Only if you say yes." he said.
"Well, I suppose I don't have much better to do. Shall we say, five?" she asked.
"Sounds good." Inuyasha said.
Kagome smiled. "Jeans and a tee, or dress and heels type going out?" she asked.
"Oh, I wasn't thinking anything fancy, unless that's what you're up for." he said a little bored. "I was thinking, like, burgers, or pizza." he said.
"Well, the rich boy likes normal people food?" Kagome asked. Inuyasha chuckled. "Pizza, sounds good." she said smiling.
"Great, I'll pick you up at five, we can go by the house and I can take you to Alma's." he said.
"Okay, bye." Kagome said.
"Bye." Inuyasha said, he hung up the phone and smiled. He went back into the bedroom and looked outside, he loved the penthouse. He had to bribe the woman who had been here just to move to the floor below. Inuyasha loved the penthouse, it was the best. And he always had the best.
He went to the closet and took out a pair of jeans and a green t-shirt that had a hazard sign on the front. He looked at himself in the mirror, and took the shirt off. He scanned through his shirts. Inuyasha took out a black t-shirt. Simple, clean. Perfect. He looked at himself in the mirror. Did he look okay? Why did he care if he looked okay?! Argh! Inuyasha ran his hands over his face up and down a few times, then he ran his fingers up into his hair. What the hell was wrong with him?
Inuyasha went to brush his hair, and then he tied it back, it was windy today. Today should be nice, Mother was keeping Father very, very occupied today, he knew because she had ended the the conversation that morning with; "Look, I'd love to chat, but I really want to go have nice hot sweaty sex with your Father, okay?" He didn't plan to call her back, he had known this past week that she would be in heat soon, and his Father would be all over her for at least a few more days.
~~~ <.< ~~~
Kagome rushed upstairs when she got off the phone. She pulled on a pair of khaki Capri's and took off her stained t-shirt. She went through her drawers. White shirt? Blue? Hmm. Yellow? No, that looked like crap. White? Kagome took out the white shirt and put it to herself. No, they were going out for pizza. But it looked so cute... And she felt like wearing blue today. She took off her khakis and took out a pair of blue cotton ones. She put them on... they were a little tighter than she remembered.
Kagome decided on neither blue Capri's, or a white shirt, instead she went with a blue dress. It was nice, proper, and tight around her breast and hips. It loosened around her thighs, thankfully. She spun a little, and smiled, tying a white scarf around the strap of her purse in case she wanted to pull her hair back later. She went downstairs and went into the kitchen, she began to color code a bag of M&Ms as she waited.
While she was sitting there, she wondered why she was going out with him today. Why did she want to go out with him? This was the man she was being forced to marry. The man she'd have to spend the rest of her life with. Oh well, she didn't know his cell phone number to tell him not to come.
Five o'clock rolled around and no Inuyasha. She sighed, and brushed her hair for a while. At five ten she heard a knock on the door, and she turned the tv off as she went out into the hall. Kagome opened the door and smiled. "Hey." she said.
"Hey... ready to go?" he asked taking his sunglasses off.
"Uh, yah. I just need to call my Mom first. I thought she'd be home by now." Kagome said.
"Okay, I'll wait out here." Inuyasha said, Kagome nodded and went back inside. Inuyasha stepped off the porch and then looked at his feet smelling a cat. It was only a fuzzy little kitten, female by the smell of it. He smiled, and bent down, stroking her back with his talons. He could hear her purring loudly. Even though Inuyasha was half inuyoukai, he did like cats. He didn't like living with one, but he liked them.
Kagome came back out when Inuyasha sat down and picked up the kitten. He looked back up at her and she smiled. "How'd you get out?" she asked the cat.
As though understanding her, the kitten meowed pitifully, and rubbed herself on Inuyasha's chest. He picked her up and the kitten pawed at his nose. Kagome sat down with him. Inuyasha blinked his eyes quickly at her, and the kitten's head moved closer to sniff his eyes. She put her paws up on his eyes and he laughed pulling her away. She meow, and tried to get back to the flickering things on his face. "Here, go to her." he said putting the female kitten on the porch between them
Trixie ran over to the door and slipped inside meowing. Kagome smiled. "She normally doesn't even let Sota touch her."
"Cats love me." Inuyasha said shrugging.
"Do you have any pets?" Kagome asked.
"Oh, no. No, I'm too busy to keep a pet. I've got a couple dogs out at the family home, but I gave them to my cousin two years ago." he explained.
A moment later both kittens appeared at the door, and they slipped out heading right for Inuyasha. Kagome smiled and scooped them up. "Okay, inside with both of you." she said standing. She took them inside and locked the door. Inuyasha stood. "We can go now." Kagome said smiling a little.
Inuyasha started away and Kagome followed. They walked over to the huge set of stairs and Inuyasha just looked down as Kagome began down to the car. She looked back up at him. "Come on." she said. Inuyasha jumped off and Kagome looked to see him fall and land gracefully at the bottom. When she reached the bottom he opened the car door for her. "You leaped all the way down here, and let me go on my own?" she asked getting in the car.
"Most people get freaked out when I jump around with them." he said closing the door and going around.
Inuyasha got in and started the car. "Okay, so," he said looking at Kagome. "I'll take you to see the house, then we can go get something to eat. If you want we can stop by the shops my Mother recommended for furniture. But only if you're up for it." he said. Kagome shrugged, and smiled. Inuyasha pulled out and started down the road.
"My Mom said she likes you." he said conversationally.
Kagome nodded. "She was nice. Your Dad though... he was..." she said awkwardly, scratching behind her ear.
"He's a hard man to please. Don't let him get to you." Inuyasha said smiling. "The best thing you can do, is just be yourself. Honestly." he said.
Kagome nodded, and fiddled with her seat belt a little. She felt awkward again. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Inuyasha glanced at her. He smiled. "You look nice." he said, obviously trying to start some sort of conversation.
"Thank you." she said smiling, pushing her hair behind her ears. "It's not much, I didn't feel like getting all dressed up today." she said shrugging. Inuyasha nodded understandingly.
"My Mother said she'd like for you to come by the shop sometime, so she can get you a custom designer dress. She does it for most of her good friends. And she wants me to make sure that I get you some nice jewelry to wear, from her shop of course. She likes people wearing her jewelry out, since her name isn't very big yet." he explained. "Sesshomaru buys some things every once in a while, for his high class whores of course." Inuyasha said boredly. "Mangy bastard, he's married you know. But he couldn't keep his dick in his pants. He's either very loyal to you, or he's not. And turns out, that he wasn't loyal to the woman he was marrying.
"He had sex with one of his whores right before the ceremony. But, Kagura didn't find out until a few hours later. When she found out she went ballistic, and smashed everything in reach. Sesshomaru tried to reason with her, but she wouldn't listen. He had sworn that from then on that he'd be faithful, because they were to be mated, they were already married, she had wanted a wedding. But she only slapped him and left. I don't think he's seen her since." he said shrugging.
"Did you say, Kagura?" Kagome asked, looking at him.
Inuyasha glanced at her and nodded. "Yah, didn't she ever tell you?" he asked her.
Kagome shook her head. "So, so Sesshomaru's the 'Fucking Mutt' she's always ranting about when she gets drunk?"
Inuyasha shrugged. "Probably." he said.
"Well, that explains a lot. Does your brother like the extremely materialistic, attention demanding, loves to be worshiped kind of women?" Kagome asked.
"Yah, see my dad and Sesshomaru share a lot of views on women, no offense. Both of them think that if a woman does her part in a relationship, cook, clean, raise the children, then there's no reason not to treat her like a queen. Sesshomaru treated Kagura like a queen, but I don't know how he took it, she probably gave it up night and day." Inuyasha said laughing.
"Can't a guy just like treating his girl well without her fucking him constantly?" she asked.
"Not, with my brother, trust me. There was definitely something everyone else wasn't seeing." he said quietly.
Kagome let it go, she'd ask Kagura about it later, and there was no way she was going to forget either. The rest of the drive was fairly quiet, Inuyasha asked a few questions, but Kagome only gave simple answers. When she started seeing bigger yards, and small fields of grass, she smiled. Living in the city, you didn't get much of nature. But the rural area died down, and soon they were back in a city area.
They turned and drove along it for a few minutes, then they turned away and around a corner to another road. It took another few minutes, but Kagome soon saw the crane, trucks, and workers buzzing around a half finished house. She noticed that it wasn't as far from Tokyo as she had thought it would be.
"We're here." he said smiling as he pulled into the long drive, he parked, unbuckling and getting out of the car. Kagome followed, and looked around, some of the workers noticed them, some didn't. They were soon approached by an official looking man
The man walked up and smiled, as he got closer, Kagome noticed that his ears were very pointed, and his eyes were and unnaturally bright yellow, almost, white even in the light. "Inuyasha, how are you?" the man asked as he took off a white cap.
"Fine, fine, I just came to check on things." he said quietly. "Mairan this is Kagome." he said, turning to Kagome.
"Oh! Hi!" the man said, stepping over and extending a hand. Kagome shook his hand, and found it a little difficult to pull away. "Oh sorry," the man said as he took his hand back. "You know what they say about suction hands." he joked. Kagome had no idea what the man was talking about, she smiled and nodded.
"Well it's great to see you, Inuyasha. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see?" he asked.
"Well, do you have the blue prints handy?" he asked.
They stuck around for about half an hour, Inuyasha and Mairan showed her around, pointing to where what would be.
Once they were back in the car Inuyasha smiled to her. "What do you think?"
"It'll be nice when it's finished. Very nice." she said looking
"Mairan's a family friend, his Father designed the palace up north." Inuyasha said, trying to make conversation. "He lives two or three miles from us, with his youngest sister and wife." he explained. Kagome nodded, staying quiet.
"You don't like being around me, do you?" he asked.
Kagome looked at him. She shrugged.
The small corner restaurant he took her was a quite cosy place, name Alma's. With smooth dark red stone floors, each table sitting out a green rug of it's own. There were a line of pizzas sitting under heat lamps and a nice salad bar. Kagome and Inuyasha went up to the counter, the young man who ran the register was transporting dough from the back when they walked up, he said he'd only be a minute. They could see into the kitchen, three people working on pizzas routeenly.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Let's just get our own pizza." Kagome suggested.
"Salads?" he asked, she nodded. "Bread sticks, cheesy bread?" he asked.
"Cheesy bread sounds good." Kagome said smiling.
"Pepperoni?" he asked.
"With black olives?" she asked smiling, he nodded.
When the young man came back Inuyasha ordered, then they took their plates for the salads and went over to the island bar to get them. Kagome made hers quietly, watching as Inuyasha put a variety of toppings on his, including pickles, green olives and a lemon wedge. She smiled and then started over to a booth by the wall. He followed, and sat down opposite her.
"Nice, isn't it?" he asked looking around at the green walls and old fashioned lighting. There was a big television across the room, a few children from separate groups were sitting at a table in front of it watching cartoons quietly. Kagome nodding, taking a bite of the crisp salad.
"So," Inuyasha said queezing his lemon over his plate. "I was thinking, that until the place is done we can stay at the hotel, and then move into the house." he said. Kagome nodded quietly. "You know, you can talk to me." he said quietly, leaning onto the table on his elbows.
"I know." Kagome said, smiling a little at him.
Their meal was quiet, Kagome only listened to Inuyasha talk mainly, and she made sure to get the rest of the pizza in a to go box for a midnight snack. When he ordered mini dessert pizzas for them, he looked at Kagome and smiled. "Well, Kagome I was thinking, about Tuesday. If you want a wedding, even a small one, it'll be okay with me." he said quietly.
Kagome looked at him. "Your mom?" she asked.
Inuyasha nodded. "She convinced me." he explained. "If you want a proper wedding, it can still be arranged, it'll be rushed, but we can do it."
"No." Kagome said shaking her head a little. "I don't see the point." she said honestly, looking straight into his eyes. He was confused. "I think weddings are for people who want to be married-"
"Kagome I want to get married." he said quickly.
"People who chose the person their marrying. You may not want to accept it, but I don't want to marry you." she said shrugging. "I was in love, and you ruined that for me. He wanted to marry me, make me his bride. But no, my Mom sits me down on my nineteenth birthday and tells me she knows how serious we were about each other. And she told me that I had to break up with the man of my dreams, because I had a fiance already. You ruined my life, whether you want to accept, or believe it." she said, coldly.
Inuyasha stared at her. "Kagome, do you think it's me whose forcing you into this? Don't you think I've had love before? But as soon as I felt it I broke it off, because I knew you were there. Don't try to play with me, as though I'm the bad guy. I'm the one who's giving you a home, furniture to sleep on, and from Tuesday on, I'll be putting food in your mouth, and clothes on your back. Don't even play the pity card on me, about how I ruined your life. My life was ruined since the moment I was conceived." he said, he was starting to get angry.
She didn't know how good she had it. She was going to one of the wealthiest families in Japan. She would have a nice place to live, money to spend how she wanted, and a husband that would take care of her. She had it way better than some of the people he had to deal with when he was working with his Father.
"Well don't play the pity card with me, just because your a hanyou." Kagome snapped. "At least you knew about me. At least you are the one who gets to be in control when we get married. 'What the husband says goes. When the husband is hungry you cook for him. When the husband says clean, you clean. When the husband says you do something, you do it. When the husband wants you, you give yourself to him.'." she said, reciting perfectly as she had heard it.
Inuyasha stared at her. He stood, and headed for the counter to pay. Kagome stayed where she was, sipping her drink. She didn't want to get married, she didn't want to live with him, she didn't want him at all. And she wasn't going to lead him to any other conclusions. When she heard him call her name, she got up and walked over to the door, he led her out and to the car, not bothering to open her door for her this time.
He started the car as she sat down, and he pulled out of the parking space while she was still closing her door. He didn't look at her as he drove down the roads, turned, and headed back towards Tokyo. Kagome stared out the window, they were in one of the most uncomfortable silences she had ever been in.
He kept his eyes on the road, Kagome couldn't read his emotion, and that bothered her. Normally she could tell exactly how someone was feeling, but Inuyasha, it was just a negative, yet emotionless face.
When he pulled up at the bottom of the stone steps, Kagome didn't move. She looked at him, he had his hands on the steering wheel, staring at the road in front of him. "Look-"
"Shut up." he interrupted. "Don't talk to me right now. I'll pick out the furniture, one of my parents will call you either Sunday or Monday, have your things packed and ready to be moved by Tuesday afternoon. Get out." he said, she hated that tone, it was the same as his face, negative, yet emotionless.
"I just wanted to say-" Kagome began, but Inuyasha looked at her, and she didn't like the look, it was worse when it was directed at you.
"Get out." he said again, quietly.
Kagome got out of the car, and he peeled away, she sighed. She hadn't meant to hurt his feels that bad, had she? She turned, and went up the many stone steps to the shrine yard. She went over to her house, and inside quietly.
When her Mother went to say something, she stopped, seeing the look on her daughter's face. Kagome felt bad about talking to him like that. He really was a nice guy. But, she didn't want to fool him into thinking she loved him, or had any feelings for him, because she didn't other than thinking he was sexy. She left her pizza with Sota, and went upstairs to her bedroom. She sat down at her desk, and picked up a pen. She clicked it, watching the metal tip come out of the plastic. She clicked it again, and again, and again and again.
She didn't know how many times she clicked the pen, but when someone knocked softly on her door, she stopped, and tossed the pen away. She watched it hit a book, and roll back towards her. "Come in..." she moaned quietly.
Sota came in, and walked over quietly. Kagome put her head in her hand, balancing it's weight on her elbow. Her brother leaned on the desk. "Wanna talk about it?" he asked softly.
YES! Her mind screamed. She wanted to talk about it, yell about it, scribbling it out on a blackboard, anything! She just need to get it out. All of it. Everything. And, who better to talk to then her family? Her little brother, who had, upon hitting puberty in a house of two women, turned out to be the best listener ever.
Kagome sat on her bed with him, and he put his arms around her shoulders. Kagome loved how he didn't ask questions right away, he let her think, he let her ponder quietly. After four or five minutes, he tipped his head and leaned it on hers. "So... tell what's wrong. Staring from the beginning." he said. Kagome leaned her head on his shoulder, and sighed. Slowly, she started to pour her feelings out to her personal therapist. Sota listened, and listened, and when she nearly began to cry, he listened.
When she was done, she had her head in her hands, crying softly. Sota rubbed her back. "You know what Mom says, the love comes later." he said, sounding too much like a parent. Kagome didn't like that. "I mean, Mom and Dad's marriage was arranged, and look at their past, they fell in love and had us." he said smiling. "Give 'em a chance, Kags." Kagome laughed, he and Miroku always called her that. Of course, it was much better than other things people had called her in the past. And thinking of Miroku, Kagome hadn't talked to him in a few days.
Sota rubbed her shoulder. "He didn't seem too bad when I met him. He can't have been too bad when you were alone. How about you and him go see that fire show? Kerri's in it, you know. She's in the background, but still in it." Kagome shook her head, she had seen the show several times when Kerri and Sota were dating, and didn't want to sit six inches from Inuyasha for two hours to watch it again. Besides, he was a youkai, he'd probably seen cooler things.
"Oh, and thanks for the hamsters." he said quietly.
Kagome smiled, she had decided to get him something that was slimy, or scaly, or had claws. Now the only problem would be keeping the cats away from the poor things. She lost her smile slowly, and leaned on him. "But what about Inuyasha? What am I gonna do?" she asked.
"Well, if you really felt uncomfortable, why don't you just take Miroku with you next time you see him?" Sota suggested. Kagome looked at him, that sounded like a really, really good idea.
The next day, at two, Kagome drove with Sota out to the airport. Miroku had jumped on the first flight back from America when Kagome called him. He had been on vacation with his Mother and Aunt, but he would never abandon Kagome in her time of need.
Kagome was waiting outside the entrance, leaning on the car while Sota scanned radio stations in it. She heard a yell, and looked up.
Miroku looked great, he was only wearing a pair of jeans and a button up white shirt, but he still looked great. From his short pony tail, to his flip flops, Kagome's best friend was a hot guy.
Kagome giggled and threw herself into his arms.
"How are you? I missed you soo much!" Miroku yelled, kissing her cheek. "Oh, and Mom sent a gift for you, you're gonna love it. It's in my luggage though. I'm sending them to your house, I'm staying there, right?" he asked, Kagome nodded.
Miroku hated being home alone for long periods of time, and his Mother wouldn't be back for another week and a half.
"Great! Okay, so this guy, he's actually a hanyou?" he asked, taking his sunglasses off and putting them in her hair. Kagome loved how he got right to the main topic.
"Yah, but, let's get going." Kagome said walking around the car.
Miroku put his carry-on in the back seat and opened the passenger door, looking down at Sota with his hands on his hips. "Hey Squirt." he said smiling. He took off his shoulder bag and pointed to the back seat.
"Love you too, Miroku." he said getting out for him. Miroku ignored him, and sat down in the front, setting his bag between his legs.
"Buckle up." Kagome said pulling her seat belt over her front. Sota followed, but Miroku rolled her eyes. "It's the law and there's cops at each entrance and exit." she said shrugging. He pulled the belt across himself as Kagome began to drive, and buckled it.
"God, I get seated next to this creepy guy who kept staring at my crotch the whole flight. Fucking weirdo. I was damn near about to hit him. Although," he said fiddling with the air conditioner as Kagome pulled out the side entrance. "I guess he couldn't help it, I mean, the stewardess was staring at me too." he said shrugging. Miroku was a very vain man, much like Kagura.
The ride was fun, Miroku telling stories of his trip, and how his Aunt had gotten drunk and kissed a telephone pole very passionately. Plus Kagome was informed of all the beautiful shopping spots and strip clubs, and how his Aunt had to translate everything for them. And of course, much to Sota's liking, Miroku told Kagome about a nude beach he had gone to, and how wonderful it had been.
When they got home Mama had a nice dinner waiting for Miroku, who had eaten little in the past sixteen hours. Considering he had been called last night, and got on a plane this morning, he hadn't had much the chance. And he didn't trust most of the air plane food.
Miroku of course, went to put comfortable clothing on, and Kagome went upstairs with two bowel of ice cream to eat while they talked.
Miroku was Kagome's emotional ladder, and her best friend in the entire world. It was nice how she could scream and holler about men all day, and normally he'd just explain that that was how men worked, not try to calm her down, or tell her it'd get better. Though sometimes it was like having a girlfriend instead, other times he was just like her big brother, but it was always like having her other half.
~~~ <.< ~~~
~~~ >.> ~~~
Monday morning, Kagome was sitting in the living room sewing a pair of Sota's jeans when she heard the phone ring. She walked over and sat down, picking it up, holding the needle and thread in her hand.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Um, hello. May I speak to Kagome?" a nice lady voice asked.
"Yes, this is Kagome, who's calling?" she asked.
"Oh, hi Kagome. It's Mrs. Soma." she said.
"Uh- hi." Kagome said setting the pants to the side. "What can I do for you?" she asked.
"Oh, well... I was calling to tell you that we're planning to pick you up tomorrow, and take you down to the courthouse. You know, so you can sign the papers and everything. And, after that he's taking you to the hotel." she explained.
Kagome nodded, and scratched behind her ear. "Um, did-... did Inuyasha say anything... I mean about-"
"About when he took you out?" she asked. "Yes, that's why I'm calling instead of him. He was very hurt by what you said, frustrated would be a better term really... Now, he's not around so I can speak clearly about this. Inuyasha's life has been hard, and he's almost gotten used to people giving him pity I think. The fact that you didn't give a damn, frustrated him, because he likes acting as though he has a harder life than anyone else. My son isn't perfect, he's far from, and he still has a lot to learn about other people, and how women work, how you work.
"I'm not sure how to say all this, I'm bad at speeches. But all I can tell you is that he really does want to get married. And he likes you, so you have, very little to worry about." she said quietly.
"I know." Kagome mumbled. "I mean, he's cool and all, but I'm just not ready to pretend that I want to marry him. I don't, and I wanted that to be clear to him."
"I think, deep down he understands that. But, we can talk about Inuyasha face to face, I don't like being personal on the phone. Now, tomorrow Inutaisho will come to pick you up, I don't know when yet. He'll take you down to the courthouse, you'll go before the judge, blah blah, you know. We'll all go out to dinner, you, Inuyasha, me, Inutaisho, and your Mother and Brother. Then, Inuyasha will take you back to his hotel room. That sound okay?" Mrs. Soma asked.
"I guess." Kagome mumbled.
"Well, we're also going to move some of your things, so you'll need to have them packed. I think Inutaisho is having a few movers do it."
"There's not a lot of things, it'll all fit into a car. It's not like I'm taking my bed or anything." Kagome said shrugging.
"Oh, well alright, I'll tell Inutaisho. I suppose I'll see you tomorrow then?" she asked.
"Yes." Kagome said nodding.
"Okay, I look forward to meeting your Mother. Make sure everyone is ready by five?"
"I will." Kagome said.
"Bye then." Mrs. Soma said.
Kagome hung up, and sat for a few moments, then she picked up her needle and thread and continued to sew Sota's jeans. She sighed heavily, so, the day was just around the corner then. Tomorrow, she'd be a wife, and tomorrow night, she'd fill the part. Kagome tried not to think about it too much. She wondered where they would eat dinner, and how Sango would react when she saw Inuyasha's ears.
~~~ <.< ~~~

I can. ^.^
Chapter four will Not be the wedding night, at least not the good part. That shall be chapter 5. Lucky number five...
Anyways, I'm not too feeling the love peoples, I want to feel the love, show me the love!
Man that's awkwardly dramatic...
