Chapter 2

She didn't know where she was running to. She just knew that something inside her was telling her to keep moving, to go as far away as she could. To escape reality. To escape pain.
The muscles in her legs were sore and ached. She could feel her heart beeting rapidly in her chest. Her lungs felt as if they were on fire as she gulped for oxygen. She winced slightly when a tree limb slashed a wound across her arm, but tried to keep up with her running.
Kagome's body screamed in pain before she finally came to a stop, sighing heavily and glancing around. She closed her eyes, leaning against a near-by tree once she deamed the area as safe.
“He chose the living-dead over the living?” she whispered to herself, opening her eyes halfway. With out warning she lunged forward punching a tree trunk with her fist. She then brought her other hand up to repeat the action. She continued as her knuckles turned red and the scratches on them started bleeding.
“He could have gone to hell some other way,” she sobbed. “His promised could have been done another way! I HATE HIM!” She stopped punching, falling against the tree, sobs escaping her lips.
`At least he'll be happy.'
Her eyes widened slightly at her own thought.
“I'm hurt because he killed me so he could in ture die himself, but not because he picked his love over me?” She sobbed once, fresh tears sliding down her face. “Mabey…I never really loved him?”
She shook her head from side to side, laughing bitterly. “I really am going insane….But yet….somehow…..I think its true.”
She giggled lightly at her own stupidity. Letting out a sigh she ran her fingers through her hair. “Mabey….just a crush?”
She shrugged her shoulders looking up towards the light blue sky. She smiled a soft smile to herself when it finally hit her that Nuraku was dead. Gone forever.
“I'm sorry Kagome…”
She clamped her hands over her ears, a new wave of tears falling. That voice was in her head, haunting her. Those words tormented her mind.
“Sorry dosent make it hurt anyless!” Kagome sobbed out.
Her mind could still see the soft look in his eyes. The turmoil that lay behind those golden orbs.
Sobs shook her small frame as she stood there, her hands still pressed to her ears.
She fell to her knees once more, her hand moveing to fist in her hair as her skin burned from the salty tears trekking down her cheeks.
“I'm sorry…”
She screamed out in frustration. Crying freely, she sat there, frozen in her own little world of dispare.
“Sorry…”
“JUST GO AWAY!” she screamed to the voice inside of her head. The voice that was causeing a deep ache in her heart. The voice that was slowly pushing her to the brink of insanity, urging her over the edge. “Just…go…away…” She let out between sobs.
After a few moments the tearsfinally ceased as she looked around her, laughing yet another bitter, cold, laugh.
“I'm all alone. Good, good. I wasen't meant to have anyone.
“Kagome?” A soft masculine voice called to her.
She looked up to see Kouga standing there, Aymie a few feet behind him. [A/N HA! Thought I was gonna make it THAT couple ^_^] .
Kagome let out another bitter laugh as she stood, wipeing the tears from her eyes. “Isn't the world just full of happy couples today.”
Kougas eyes narrowed slightly. “What did bog breath do now?!”
“Nothing…”
“I swear if he hurt you I'll…”
“GIVE IT A REST KOUGA!” Kagome yelled suddenly. “You have Aymie now, remember? Shes the one your supposed to care about.”
Kouga growled lowly. “And I'm not allowed to care about you? My friend, my comrade?”
“NO!”
Kouga and Aymie stared at her in shock for a moment.
“No ones supposed to care about me! Care about someone worth careing for! I'm as disposable as a childs broken doll!” Kagome turned to walk away but stopped, looking over her shoulder.
“Just leave me alone…”She stated while beging to walk again before calling out, “And please, be happy!”
With that she walked away.
She sighed, comeing to a small opening in the woods. A small stream trailed through the center of it.
Kagome leaned over the clear water, dipping her hands into the cool liquid before splashing it on her face lightly.
She stood straight again, wipeing the water off her face and looking to the sky.
Sh didn't movewhen she herd soft foot steps running toward her.
Warm arms wrapped around her knees as a small face rested against her legs.
“Kagome-sama!”
