Hey everybody, I back! I know I said that I would try to update once a week possibly but what can I say life happens. I just got a new job and I'm trying to find a good school online and haven't been having any success. Busy, busy, busy these days!

This chapter might be a little shorter than most and that is only because of the timer I set myself on today. Also I wanted a little cliffy and to keep you begging for more. I got a lot of things to do in such a short amount of time.

`Choose, choose, CHOOSE!'

 

“NO!” Bellowed the hanyou. Right before their very eyes the mighty Inuyasha crumbled. Falling to the forest floor on hands and knees.

 

He was having an eternal struggle. Battling his human half and his demon half. His inner demon all but screamed save Kagome, `She's our mate, she's the one. She's alive and you can trust her with our lives and secrets. Kagomes never been afraid of us. She comforts us. She makes us whole! There is no choice!'

His human half reminded him about Kikyou. `You can't forget about Kikyou. She's your first love…. She died because of your inability to protect her, to trust her. It's your fault she's back in the first place.'

He cared for the two women greatly it was his human half that struggled with the decision. Guilt that one of them was to fall because of his inability to save them both.

`What means more? My honor or…..my heart!'

 

Naraku had the biggest, evilest smile on his face. He was enjoying this immensely . Taking such satisfaction from the look of complete despair on Inuyasha's face.

`That's it suffer. After I'm through you, Kikyou and her reincarnation you all will know the true meaning of HELL!'

 

 

 

“Tsk, tsk, I grow impatient.”

“Come now Inuyasha, It can't be that hard a choice. I'm sure one takes precedence over the other. One you love more than the other, one that means more than the other.” Naraku said with a leer on his face.

Inuyasha raised his face toward the sky hoping that maybe it would give him the answers.

Standing up he looked to his friends. They all had anxious faces. Searching their eyes he could see they all were begging him silently to choose Kagome.

Sango and Shippou had fearful expressions on their faces. Shippou didn't want to lose his mother and Sango looked to Kagome as a sister

But it wasn't that simple. He made a pledge to Kikyou also.

`Please Inuyasha choose Kagome. This shouldn't be a tough decision. Kikyou doesn't even love you the way Kagome does. Can't you see that? SHE'S DEAD FOR GODS SAKE! If I lose another sibling I don't know what I'll do!'

`Come on Inuyasha get this over with! Choose already! The sooner this is done the sooner I can bring my woman home. After this is over I'll take her back to the mountains and heal her broken heart. I know she cares for the mutt. Only god knows why. But she'll see things my way. And when the mutt finally draws the line and chooses to save the dead woman over her she'll finally see him for what he is…..a half breed who doesn't deserve her love.'

The wolf prince was waiting in the cut to make his move.

He couldn't see past his selfishness to see that this was going about getting Kagome's love all wrong. That it would do her more harm than good.

“IIEEEE!” Kagome screamed with tears streaming down her face.

Naraku was losing his patience and had tightened the tentacle wrapped around her neck. She was struggling with each breathe.

Kikyou continued to hang limply and lifelessly. If something didn't happen soon they both would perish.

“I'm losing my patience boy!” He sneered.

“Continue to diddy daddle and you will lose them both. I'm a being most gracious at letting you save one of them even with them both being a thorn in my side.”

He continued to squeeze and squeeze at their necks.

Kikyou had come to and was looking at Inuyasha with that look. Silently commanding him to come to her aid.

Kagome helplessly clawed at the tentacle on her neck gasping for air. Praying for a miracle. Just when she was on the verge of passing out she heard Inuyasha.

“ENOUGH!” Inuyasha roared. He realized he was out of time. It was time to choose. This was the hardest decision he would ever have to make.

“I made my choice.” Was his solemn answer. His eyes where glossy and his body numb.

`I'm making the right choice, I'm making the right choice!' He chanted over and over in his head. Trying to convince himself. If it was why did his heart feel like it was shattering?

“Pray tell who do you wish to save?” Naraku was just itching to hear him say it.

All eyes were on him. Silently he looked to the miko and prayed that his eyes told her what he couldn't.

 

`I'm sorry. Please forgive me.'

And she knew without a shadow of a doubt.

 

 

“KIKYOU.”

Several startled gasps rung in the clearing. They couldn't believe their ears.

Kagome had her head down. She didn't want to look at him anymore. She wasn't his choice.

`Almost, almost. My cue is coming.'

Kouga was readying himself for his appearance. It was almost time to outshine Inuyasha.
