CHAPTER 4: AND THE WINNER IS…

 

They practiced everyday after school and on the weekends. Since Kienna and Kagome already knew the song by heart it didn't take long to get the performance perfect. Sango and Miroku felt good being back to playing the guitars. Inuyahsa was the same way. He was like inseparable from his drums. He gave them up when his mother was near close death one time. He spent all his time making sure she was safe. Now that his father and brother are just as protective of his mother as he is he has more time to spend with his drums.

Kagome is happy she gets to sing again. She stopped singing when her dad left them and was thrown in depression, when she came out of her depression state she started doing the things she loves but singing never came back until she met Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha. Kienna was somewhat the same way. She stopped singing because of her dad also but in a more tragic way. She wouldn't tell the whole story but they all knew that her dad would always put her down and singing was one of the things she loved doing. He told her that she had the worst voice on earth and that a crying baby would sound gorgeous against her voice.

 

Kienna got back to singing when her family found out that her little sister Cherri was blind. Cherri said that she loved Kienna's voice and wanted to sing just like her when she gets older because she can't do much since she's blind.

 

Now it's 1 week before the contest and all of them are pumped.

 

“Omg I can't wait for the contest! We are soooo gonna win!!” Shouted Kagome.

 

“Yeah I know! We are gonna rock!” Sango agreed. They were all walking to Inuyasha's house since it was a Friday and Inuyasha invited them over. Kagome was excited to see where he lived. Inuyasha was just as excited. He was the one that suggested the idea because he wanted to show Kagome the gardens he had because he knew that she loved flowers. When they arrived at the house Kagome's jaw dropped. His house was gorgeous!! It was at least 10 times bigger than hers was!

 

“Uh…Kagome are you okay…?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Huh? Oh yeah I'm fine just surprised. When you said your house was big that was an under statement. Your house is HUMUNGOUSLY HUGE!” she said to him.

 

“Is that even a possible combination?” He asked smirking trying not to laugh his ass off.

 

“Oh you shut up!” Inuyasha couldn't take it and he just burst out laughing. He wrapped an arm around her waist and walked her inside her house the whole way Kagome was blushing. When they got in the house…a.k.a. mansion Kagome was awestruck.

 

“So you like it?” Inuyasha said obviously teasing her.

 

“Wow…it's…gorgeous.” She replied still in la la land. Inuyasha smirked and led her and the others to his game room. The others all have been to his mansion before. Kienna had only been here about 2 times but she was used to big houses.

 

“Ki I'm surprised that you're not just like Kagome.” Inuyasha teased.

 

“I've been here before though.” She said back.

 

“Yeah but only like 2 times.” Miroku said.

 

“Yeah well I guess I'm just used to big houses.” She sighed.

 

“How? Don't you live in an apartment? Even though your apartment is big.” Miroku said back.

 

“Yeah but you forgot that I haven't lived there all my life so far.”

 

“Huh? What do you mean?” Kagome asked.

 

“Oh I must have forgot to tell you before. I used to live in Matsuyama. And I was kinda…their princess…” She said shyly. Kagome stared at her in awe.

 

“Omg are you serious?” Kagome asked.

 

“Yeah. That's also part of the reason why I left. I hated being princess I felt like the most spoiled thing ever.”

 

“What's the other part?” Everyone was quiet. Kagome looked over to see Kienna looking really angry about something. Kagome didn't want her to be mad at her so she tried to change the subject.

 

“Uh…I'm sorry Ki it's none of my business.” Kagome said

 

“No it's okay it's just that…” Kienna sighed. Kagome walked back over to her and hooked arms with her.

 

“It's okay you can tell me whenever you want to Kay?” Kienna smiled brightly and hugged Kagome. When their hug ended they still had their arms hooked.

 

“Thanks Kags.” They spent most of the day hanging out and playing games. Now Inuyahsa had gotten Kagome alone and asked her if she wanted to look at the garden. Like expected she immediately said yes and they were walking and talking in his garden.

 

“Wow the flowers look so pretty at night.” Kagome said. It was around 9 and so far Sango and Kienna had left. Miroku was going to be leaving in about 10 minuets. They didn't know that he actually left with Sango and Kienna leaving them completely alone.

 

“Yeah I guess. Hey what time do you have to go home?” Inuyasha asked her.

 

“Um I don't know. Why do I need to leave now?”

 

“No, no. I was just wondering if you wanted to stay over.”

 

“Huh? Like spend the night?” Inuyasha nodded.

 

“Uh I don't have any of my clothes and-.”

 

“Relax we can just go over there and get it. That is if you want to stay the night and if it's okay with your mom.” He looked at her pleadingly. Kagome laughed.

 

“Okay okay I'll stay. I'm pretty sure my mom won't mind.” Inuyasha smiled and walked her to his motorcycle to go get her stuff.

When they got back from Kagome's house they went to the living room to watch a movie. Inuyasha wanted to watch a scary movie but Kagome was not for it. So in the end they watched bring it on in it to win it. Kagome was sitting on the couch with her kegs up on it also. Inuyasha lay down so his head was on her lap and his feet were on the arm of the couch and dangling.

 

“Hey! Who said that you could lie like that? Get off!” Kagome tried to get him off but he always came back.

 

“Oh shut up Kags I'm not gonna bite ya.” He said getting comfortable again. Kagome rolled her eyes.

 

“what ever.” Then they just sat there watching the movie and enjoying each other's company. When the movie was over Inuyasha got up expecting Kagome to come with him to show her where she was gonna be sleeping but looked back down and saw that she was still sleeping. He picked her up and carried her to his room. She was supposed to sleep in the guestroom but he thought that she wouldn't mind. On the way there he was thinking about how he wanted to be with Kagome. He didn't know why but he wanted to know everything there is to know about her. He wanted to love her and give love to her. Inuyasha sighed.

 

No one wanted a half-breed. He was a lowly dirty half-breed that no one like Kagome wanted. All the other girls in school just wanted to go out with him because he was hot and he had lots of money. But other then that he was nothing. As he laid her down on his bed he couldn't help but wonder what she thought about him.

The next morning Kagome woke up in an unfamiliar room. She wondered where she was for a while and got up to wander around and see if she could figure it out. The second she stepped out of the room she knew that she was at Inuyasha's house. She smelled a sweet aroma coming from downstairs so she went to where Inuyasha showed her as the kitchen. She saw Inuyasha sitting down eating pancakes. He noticed her and smiled.

 

“Morning sleeping beauty.”

 

“Uh…morning.” Inuyahsa walked over to her and led her to a chair next to his at the breakfast bar.

 

“You hungry?” Inuyasha asked. Kagome nodded. Inuyasha got her a plate of pancakes and eggs.

 

“OMG!!!! THEY'RE CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES!! EEEEEEEEEE!” Kagome screamed and Inuyasha covered his sensitive ears.

 

“oops. Sorry…hehe.” She apologized then went to rub his ears. Inuyasha froze like he did at the park when he first met her. He relaxed against her touch. He only allowed her to do that, and Kagome was happy when he told her that she could do that but only her. Now Kagome was trying to get him to let her do this when they were in front of people. At least their friends.

 

Kagome then ate her breakfast and enjoyed very much the pancakes. She knew Inuyasha did that on purpose. She remembered telling him that her favorite breakfast food was chocolate chip pancakes. When she finished eating Inuyasha dragged her up to his room.

 

“Hey! What are you doing?” She questioned. He threw her backpack at her and she caught it with ease.

 

“Go change, we're goin' shopping today.” Kagome took out what she was going to wear today and went to Inuyasha's bathroom to change. She wore dark jeans with a skull jean chain hanging down with a black shirt that said `rock my world' and had a pink guitar on it. She put on her pink and black dc shoes and put on pink earrings. When she walked out Inuyasha was already dressed in dark baggy jeans and a black shirt that said `no bitchassness'.

 

“Wow you look great.” Inuyasha said. Kagome blushed.

 

“Thanks you too.” Inuyahsa smiled and went over to her took her hand and led her to a 2007 silver jeep wrangler.

 

“Wow didn't know you drove something else besides your motorcycle.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

 

“Shut up. I told you before that I had other things, I just like my motorcycle more.” He huffed. Kagome laughed at the way he was acting.

 

“Hey I start going back to work tomorrow so I was wondering if you wanted to come have lunch with me during my lunch break.”

 

“Sure why not?” Kagome smiled. Inuyasha smiled back and then they were off to wherever Inuyasha was taking her.

 

Inuyasha ended up taking her to where he works.

 

“So this is where you work huh?” Kagome said looking around the mechanics shop.

 

“Yup. This is the shop.” He said.

 

“So why are we here?” Inuyasha pulled her into the shop where the customers go to…also known as the front desk. There she saw shelves and cabinets of things that you could buy. Inuyasha pulled her towards a large cabinet filled with motorcycle helmets.

 

“I told you that I'm gonna get you a helmet, so today's the day.” Inuyasha said. Kagome smiled and started looking at what helmet she wanted.

 

“Omg that one is really cute!” She said as she pointed to a helmet that was pink and had white flowers decorating them. (http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/7187h7RTY-L._AA280_.g if) Inuyasha smiled and went to the cabinet, taking a key out to open the cabinet.

 

“Well then it's yours.” He said as she took out the helmet and handed it to her.

 

“Here try it on.” Kagome nodded and slipped it on her head. It fit perfectly.

 

“Looks good on ya. Alright take it off and we'll go buy it.” Kagome took it off and had slight helmet hair. Inuyasha laughed.

 

“O shut up Yash.” Kagome said as she handed him the helmet and ran her fingers through her hair to make it straight again. Inuyasha saw that a piece of hair was out of place and he pushed it back behind her ear. Kagome blushed and looked away. Inuyasha chuckled. He walked to the front desk to go pay for it, and Kagome followed.

 

“Hey Inuyasha how you doing?” The store clerk said. She was a young lady probably the same age of Kagome and it was clear that she wanted Inuyasha. For some reason Kagome felt jealous and really wanted to burst that clerk's bubble by acting all lovey-dovey with Inuyasha. But Kagome left that feeling behind and let Inuyasha do whatever he was doing.

 

“I'm fine.” He said back in a happy kinda tone.

 

“That's good. What are you doing here? Not that I don't want to see you, it's a pleasure to see you.” She smiled at him. Inuyasha smiled back a fake smile and walked back to Kagome and wrapped his arm around her and brought her to the desk.

 

“I'm just buying my girlfriend her own helmet for when she rides with me on my motorcycle. The clerk's smile dropped and it instantly turned into a glare shot at Kagome.

 

“Oh. Well that will be 11,00 yen.” She said in a bored tone. Inuyasha smirked at her and paid the money and saw that Kagome was staring at him in surprise.

 

“Oh my god Yash if I knew it was that much I would have paid for some of it.” Kagome said. Inuyasha just laughed.

 

“Kagome I live in a huge mansion and you think 11,000 yen is a lot of money?”

 

“Uhh…I guess I have to get used to it.” Kagome said shyly. Inuyasha laughed and gave her the helmet.

 

“What about you? Don't you need a helmet?” Kagome asked.

 

“Yeah I have extras in my little office thingy.” He took her hand and led her to the part of the shop where all the workers went to build or repair the cars and where the owners drop off their cars. He took her to a door that said Inuyasha on it and inside was just like Inuyasha said. A little office thingy. It had a desk, cabinets, and some shelves with tools, and helmets.

 

“Wow. Nice office.” Kagome said about to bust out laughing.

 

“Oh shut up. I don't even come in here a lot. Just when I have to.” He said grabbing a silver helmet off the shelf. (http://www.cyclestuffusa.com/ProductImages/zox/tavanisilver .JPG) Then they went to his jeep and were off to enjoy the rest of their day.

Now it's Thursday night and the gang is hyped up!!! Kagome was working on a biology paper when her brother Souta ran up to her room screaming that someone was on the phone.

 

“Hello?” Kagome answered.

 

“Hey Kagome what's up?” It was Kienna

 

“Oh hey Ki nothing much you?”

 

“Same. Are you psyched for tomorrow?”

 

“Hell yeah!” Kagome and Kienna started laughing. They talked for two hours and did 3 way with Sango and all three of talked for about 4 hours. When they got off the phone Kagome went straight for her shower and got ready for bed. Right when she was about to lie down her cell phone rang. She groaned and picked it up.

 

“Hello?” She answered kind of angry.

 

“Whoa next time I'll remember not to call you at 10:00.” A voice laughed.

 

“Yash what the hell do you want?”

 

“Nothing just bored.”

 

“…YOU CALL AT 10 BECAUSE YOUR BORED?!?!” Kagome shouted.

 

“Yup.”

 

“I'm just gonna pretend that you didn't call me and go to sleep. Night Yash.”

 

“Night Kags.” They both hung up and Kagome went to sleep, while Inuyasha just stayed up thinking about her and tomorrow.

 

In the morning Kagome woke up pumped for today. She immediately ran to her closet and picked out the outfit she was going to wear for the performance. It was a short (but not to short) black skirt a pink tank top that said `Ocean City'. It was October but the weather was unusually warm. She looked at the clock and it was 7:30. `Great I have time to eat!' When she got downstairs she gasped as she saw Inuyasha sitting on her couch eating a piece of toast. He was talking to her brother who was looking at him with admiration.

 

“Inuyahsa! What are you doing here?!” Kagome asked. Inuyasha just looked at her and smiled.

 

“Well duh I'm here to take you to school.” He said with his grin still on his face.

 

`Uhh… okay just let me grab my backpack.” She ran back up stairs to get her backpack all the while thinking that Inuyasha was in her living room ready to take her to school. She smiled and thought, `oh my god this can't be real I mean we kind of just met but I guess that he really wants to be friends.' When she went back downstairs she saw Inuyasha standing at the door with his backpack over one shoulder.

 

“Ready?” He asked. She nodded and they went outside to be greeted to his motorcycle.

 

“Aww come on!” Kagome shrieked. Inuyasha just laughed.

He got on the bike and waited.

 

“Come on if you don't get on we'll be late for school.” She sighed and got on the back and they sped off to school.

“KAGOME!” Two girls yelled.

 

“Sango! Kienna! How are you guys?” Kagome said as they ran up to her locker.

 

“We're just great! OMG Kagome are you ready to rock!!” Ki said.

 

“Hell yeah!” They laughed.

 

“Well good because Kikyo entered the contest too and she wants to take Inuyasha with her on the trip.” Sango said.

 

“WHAT THE HELL!! NOOOOOO! NOW WE HAVE TO WIN!!” Inuyasha shouted. They all laughed and went to their classes waiting for the contest.

Now it's lunchtime and it's time for the contest! The gang is all hyped up.

 

“This contest is so ours!” Miroku said.

 

“Okay! Calm down! Our first contestant is Hojo Sakiumi (totally just made that up!).” The assistant principal said. Hojo came p on the stage and said, `Thank you! I'm gonna sing `Break my heart' and this is dedicated to the lovely Kagome! (This song is from the movie spectacular! I love that movie!!!!!) Kagome blushed and Inuyahsa growled.

All the time she was singing she was singing straight to Inuyasha and Kagome felt jealous. They called up about 5 more people and finally the assistant principal called up Inuyasha's group.

 

“All right guys lets do this!” Kagome said as they all got on stage.

Kienna and Kagome broke off at the right parts so the song was like two people were singing instead of one. When they were done the crowd cheered.

 

“Okay, Okay calm down! This is what gonna happen I'm going to put my hands above a person or group and you have to make the most noise for the person or group that you liked the most. Okay y'all ready?” the crowed cheered and she began. So far the most was for Kikyo, but when she got to Inuyasha's group the crowd roared wildly and everyone stood up. Some people were even on the tables cheering!

 

“Okay! The winners are Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Miroku, and Kienna!”

 

“Who are you guys gonna take on the trip to Hawaii?”

 

“SHIPPO, KILALA,KOGO,AYAME,AND BANKOSTU!” Sango shouted into the microphone like she rehearsed it. All of them jumped up and down and went on stage to join the group.

 

“Okay! There you have it!” The assistant principal said.

 

“Omg! We're going to Hawaii!!” Kagome shouted. Kienna and Sango joined her in her shouting and jumping while the guys just looked at them like they were crazy.
