Making the Most of Our Lives: Chapter Three

Kagome watched with wide eyes, her sapphire orbs sparkling with delight as she took in the line of cars. A sleek, red car led the small fleet, followed by a white car and a royal blue one behind it. Several other cars and bikes followed. Entranced by the red hot car before her, she stepped forward and caressed the hood.
“Mm, Nissan 240SX.” Kagome continued her inspection, murmuring its features to herself.
“Glad you like my car, wench.” The girl inspecting his car shot up and to his satisfaction, blushed a deep red. She saw his smirk and felt the anger rising in her body.
“I’m just surprised you have such good taste, baka.” They both turned when they heard a bark of laughter.
“Hah! Look dog-turd, we’ve found someone who agrees with me.” Turning to Kagome, he took her hands in his, ignoring Inuyasha’s growl. “Hey there, beautiful. My name’s Kouga.” The girl blushed prettily and nodded.
“Kagome.”
“Ah, Kagome. A fitting name for a beauty such as yourself.” Kagome blushed again. His face hardened into something more serious. “Can I ask you something?” She nodded hesitantly, looking to Inuyasha for help, but the Hanyou didn’t notice because he never took his angry glare from Kouga. “Kagome, will you be my woman?” Shock played over Kagome’s face and she stared at him for a few seconds before pulling away.
“YOUR WHAT??!” Inuyasha finally decided to step in and pulled Kagome to his side.
“Back off Kouga, she’s not your woman!”
“I don’t see your name on her Inu Trasha!”
“What did you say, wolf cub?”
“Look who’s talking, puppy!” Kagome felt her patience and sanity wearing thin.
“COOL IT!” She barked. Both their jaws shut with an audible snap as they stared at her in surprise. “I’d appreciate it if you two would stop bickering like children. Inuyasha, you should be prepping. And Kouga, it was very nice meeting you. And since we’ve only just met I’d prefer if we were just friends. Now I have to go get ready so I’ll see you two later.” With that she walked off, leaving behind two very stunned men.

“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!! WELCOME TO FOXFIRE!!!!! I’M AIKO!--”
“AND I’M EIKO!!”
“AND WE’LL BE YOUR COMMENTATORS FOR TONIGHT!!”
“Okay Aiko, first up tonight will be bike races, then we’ll follow up with cars.”
“Alright Eiko, sounds good.”
“BUT FIRST, LET’S INTRODUCE OUR CREWS AND THEIR MEMBERS!!!” The racers gathered behind the stage where Eiko and Aiko stood. While the other crews were arranging themselves, Midoriko and Fang lounged around, knowing they would be the very last two. Inuyasha found Kagome and they talked, that is, if you could call teasing and taunting talking.
One by one, the teams were announced and their members introduced. Finally, only three teams were left, Midoriko, Fang, and Miasma.
“AND NEXT WE HAVE. . .MIASMA!!! HEEEEERRREE’S NARAKU!!” A pale man with long, wavy black hair stepped onto the stage, a quiet smirk planted on his face. Inuyasha was taken back by the man’s red eyes. He turned to Kagome, catching her visibly flinch at the name.
“Kagome? Kagome? What’s wrong?” But the ebony-haired girl only shook her head. The Hanyou turned as he felt a hand on his shoulder. He came face-to-face with Sango.
“Don’t worry about it. Naraku used to be really close with us. He was the one that got us into racing in the first place. But one day, he just turned cold on us, acted like we’d never been friends. Kagome was hurt the most. They were really close, he was her hero. He and Miasma have been our biggest rivals since.” Inuyasha nodded as she gave him a half-hearted smile. He turned back to Kagome as Sango left and watched as she snapped out of her little daze. The faraway look in her eyes faded to a fiery determination.
“So, he’s back huh?” She noticed Inuyasha’s questioning gaze. Smiling, she explained, “Naraku’s been gone for two weeks. He’d warned Midoriko that when he returned, he wouldn’t lose again.” Inuyasha snorted.
“The bastard will lose. But maybe to me, not you.” He smirked, but inwardly hoped it wasn’t too early for jokes. His prayers were answered when she arched a brow and retorted.
“Hah, I’ll never lose to either of you. Especially you, puppy.” She imitated his smirk. His comeback was drowned in the next announcement.
“AND NOW. . .IT’S TIME TO BRING OUT THE LOVELY LADIES OF TEAM MIDORIKO!!! TAKE IT AWAY, EIKO!!”
“YOU KNOW HER, YOU LOVE HER, YOU WANNA GET IN HR PANTS -GIGGLE- THEEE ONE AND ONLY-- KAGOME!!!!!” The audience went wild, screaming and shouting. Kagome sweat dropped as Inuyasha raised a brow.
“Ehehe. . .they overdid it again.” Regaining her composure, she gave him a quick wave before walking to the platform, smiling the entire time. She walked to the other end of the stage and waved before winking with a seductive smirk. The crowd roared, voices both male and female.
“NEXT UP IS OUR SEXY SLAYER!! SHE’LL CAPTURE YOUR HEART BUT’LL KICK YOUR ASS, GIVE IT UP FOR SANGO!!!” Said girl walked confidently across the stage to stand next to her sister. They shared a smile as they prepared for the long and embarrassing introduction.

“AND NOW FOR THE HOTTEST MECHANICS TO EVER GRACE FOXFIRE, OUR TEMPTING TWINS, ASUKA AND AIJI!!!!!” The twins stepped out, dressed in black miniskirts and tank tops, their hands bandaged to show their rank.

“THE BUBBLIEST BIKE BABE, RIN!!!” The brown-haired girl smiled gleefully in her brown skirt and white blouse ensemble, her bandaged hands contrasting with her tanned skin.

“KIKYO, COLD AS ICE YET HOT AS HELL!!” Kikyo stepped out, straight black hair perfectly in place. She wore a long-sleeve white button-up blouse and a blood red skirt that revealed a wrapped right thigh.

“KISS-AND-TELL KOHARU!!!!” Another girl stepped out beside Kikyo. She too had black hair, but it was pulled up in a loose bun. Wearing a short, black jacket over a pink strapless top, her matching black skirt revealed a wrapped right calf.

“SWEET AND SLEEK, HEEEERE’S SHIORI!!” A rather young looking girl took two timid steps out. Her loose silver hair fluttered in the breeze. Her Hanyou ears perched atop her head and lavender eyes were the only indication of her demon heritage. She wore a lavender blouse and a white skirt that exposed the bandages on her left calf. The pale clothes she wore contrasted with her dark skin.

“THE ENTICING ENJU!!” A pale woman stood beside Shiori. She had red eyes, but they weren’t ruby red like Naraku's. Hers were a soft red that shone red-orange, framed by exotic and long eyelashes. Her hair was so dark a brwon that it was almost black, but shone red in the light. Her bangs framed her face, the rest of her hair pulled back into a bun, some hanging in intricate loops. Dressed in a golden-yellow blouse and a sunset-colored skirt, her outfit showed the bandages adorning her left thigh. After nodding slightly at Shiori, the two eighteen-year olds walked across the stage together.

“AND WE HAVE THE TANTALIZING SUZUNA!!!!” Said girl walked out, in white jeans and a brown tube top. Her shoulder-length, chocolate-colored hair was streaked with crimson. The ferret demon’s smile revealed pointed fangs.

“AND THE DECADENT SETSUNA!!!” The lynx Youkai joined the ferret Youkai. Her lightly tanned skin was well complimented by the blue-green halter top and matching skirt she wore. Her golden caramel-colored hair set off her light brown eyes, giving her an exotic look. Together, she and Suzuna crossed the stage. The light caught around her waist as she walked, and everyone saw the gold chain that encircled her slim waist, part of the piercing in her bellybutton. Both she and Suzuna had their upper right arms wrapped.
Kagome allowed her crew a couple more minutes in the lime light before she motioned for them to leave. The girls all gave one last smile and wave before they walked off. The commentators took this chance to introduce the final group.
“OKAY EVERYONE, LISTEN UP!! AIKO AND I HAVE ONE MORE CREW TO BRING OUT!!”
“BUT FIRST! LEMME GIVE YALL A LITTLE BACKGROUND INFO ON. . .TEAM FANG!!!” The crowd roared. “Team Fang is a force to be reckoned with. They’ve come from the infamous Western Palisades in Kyoto!!” The crowd gasped at the prestigious name mentioned.
“Yes, that’s right, the Western Palisades, so y’all know that Team Fang comes from a fast breed. But to top it all off, Team Fang was and is known to be one of the fastest crews from Western Palisades. Now if you all don’t mind, LET’S BRING THEM OUT!!!!”
“FIRST UP, WE HAVE INUYASHA!!!!” The Hanyou stepped out and smirked at the crowd. The women went wild.

“Oh baby take it off!!”
“Lemme get a piece of that!”
“I bet he’s hidin’ a tight ass!!”

Inuyasha continued to smirk. He notice Kagome on the side of the stage closest to him. He waited for her attention to fall on him before winking at her. She merely arched a brow at him and gave him a disapproving look, but he didn’t fail to notice the slight color in her cheeks. Satisfied with her reaction, he turned his attention on to the introduction of his teammates.

"ALRIGHT! AND NOW FOR THE FIRST BIKE RACE OF TONIGHT!!"
"WE HAVE. . .BYAKYU FROM MIASMA!"
"GINKOTSU FROM THE SHICHINITAI CREW!"
"SHURAN FROM KUROHYOU!"
"TAROMARU FROM IKAZUCHI!"
"SAYO FROM TEAM GOUHARA!"
"SUZUNA FROM MIDORIKO!"
"AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, FROM OUR NEWEST CREW, NAZUNA FROM TEAM FANG!!!" The crowd roared after each introduction, pumped with excitement and adrenaline.
"Without further ado, will Shima please step out with the flags?" A girl in a shiny, pink leather skirt and a white bikini top stepped out, black and white checkered flags in each hand. She moved to the starting line, standing before the bikers. Slowly, she raised the flags. With a wink, the flags swiftly descended and the bikers took off, making Shima's hair fly.
"And the race has started with Byakyu, Suzuna and Nazuna in the lead!!"
"Sayo of Gouhara is steadily advancing on the three.. But NO!! Nazuna and Suzuna have broken apart from the others and are now neck and neck!!!"
"And they round the turn!!!"
"Nazuna's in the lead! They're approaching the finish line!!! AND--"
"SUZUNA OF MIDORIKO WINS!!!!" The crowd cheered, money was exchanged, and the races continued. Team Midoriko got four more wins, Miasma and Fang three each, and Gouhara one.
The start of the car races was announced and the bike track was pulled underground, replaced with a drifting track, all done in a burst of flames. Yeah, having a Kitsune specializing in magic as the owner of FoxFire sure did come in handy.
Kagome was getting a little worried. She knew Inuyasha and his crew were good. The last three races had her worried. Asuka would be up against Miroku, and Kanna. Then Sango would have to race against Sesshoumaru and Kagura. Kanna and Kagura were Miasma members. They were good, she only had to worry about them and team Fang. The last race had her downright nervous. Each team would be pitting their best racers against her. Bankotsu from Shichinintai, Hiten from Ikazuchi, Kuran from Kurohyou, Kaguya from Gouhara. And then there was Inuyasha, from Fang, and Naraku of Miasma. Kagome wasn't a fool. She was one of the best, not the best.

A/N: Good News! I have just finished writing Chapter Eighteen! But I won't be posting more until I'm sure people want me to continue!
