-Friday Night, FoxFire-

Kagome was pulled from her thoughts when the sound of skin on skin and an angry shout of “HENTAI!!” rang out from behind her. She turned to find Miroku sprawled out on the ground, a glowing red handprint on his cheek. A fuming Sango towered over him. She heard a small. Barely audible exasperated sigh beside her and found herself standing next to Sesshoumaru, who was currently shaking his head.
“He’ll never learn.” His voice was even and emotionless, but Kagome saw the amusement and slight exasperation in his golden eyes.
“He gropes women often I assume?”
“You are correct. Miko.” Startled sapphire eyes met golden ones. Turning her head quickly she schooled her features.
“The name’s Kagome. Not wench, not woman, not miko. How did you know?” Her voice was even and betrayed no emotion.
“You are a powerful miko, even if you try to mask it. It clashes with my youki.”
“I see.” A slight nod of her head. They had been standing there in a comfortable silence when Shippo’s unmistakable voice blared from all the speakers.
“YO EVERYONE, LISTEN UP! FOXFIRE’S GONNA BE CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND. THAT MEANS NO RACES. CREWS WILL BE ALLOWED TO COME IN TO WORK ON THEIR CARS, BUT THERE WILL BE NO RACING. ANYONE WHO FEELS COCKY ENOUGH TO VIOLATE THIS RULE WILL FIND THEMSELVES BANNED FROM FOXFIRE, GOT IT? NOW LET’S START THE CAR RACES!!”

Kagome stood alone in the Midoriko garage, fresh nitro boosters in hand. Changing the nitro, she listened as the commentators talked excitedly.
“Kikyo and Hakudoshi have tied for first, Ayame takes second, and Kaijinbo takes third!!”
“And that concludes the third race!!!”
“Will the contenders for the fourth race please take their places? Shima, step out please!” Kagome shut the hood and stared at her car, tracing the soft silver streaks. ‘Fourth race. Good luck Asuka.’ She left the garage quietly and went to watch the race. Winding her way through the crowd, the noticed the red eyes of Naraku watching her. Sapphire stared back at ruby. ‘I won’t lose to you, Naraku.’

“SESSHOUMARU TAKES FIRST! SANGO COMES IN SECOND AND KAGURA TAKES THIRD!!!! THAT CONCLUDES THE FIFTH RACE.” Kagome watched from her car as Sango stormed out of hers, her brown eyes burning. Shaking her head to clear her mind, she steeled herself for her race.
“AND NOWWW FOR THE FINAL RACE!!”
“SHIMA BABY, YANNOE WHAT TO DO!” Kagome released a breath as Shima sauntered into her line of vision. ‘Hurry it up Shima, we haven’t got all night.’ She steadied her shaking hands on the steering wheel. She felt the adrenaline coursing through her body, felt her blood pump and burn like liquid fire. Her sapphire orbs sparkled with anticipation.
The flags slowly rose, the black and white squares stirring in the breeze. They hovered for just a moment and time stood still. Black and white descended and Kagome pressed her foot down upon the pedal, shooting forward in a black and silver blur. She noticed the other cars beside her and time suddenly sped up again. Hitting the gas again, she separated from the mass but Inuyasha and Naraku followed. With skill and deft, she shifted gears as the curve appeared, she and her car becoming one, drifting the curve like a leaf caught in a whirlwind. From her passenger side mirror, she caught sight of Bankotsu gaining on and passing Inuyasha and Naraku. As she drifted along the second curve, Bankotsu came up alongside her, but was left behind as Kagome sped up again and fled from the bend. Inuyasha and Naraku soon bypassed him and the race went on, the racers navigating and ghosting the turns and bends. Kagome flew down the final length of straight track, Inuyasha and Naraku flanking her. She wrinkled her nose as she realized there would probably be a snake curve coming up soon. It helped to know the track designer sometimes, no matter how crazy the Kitsune was.
Gassing hard and shifting the gears, she swerved and drifted into the frenzy of turns and bends, watching through her mirrors as Inuyasha and Naraku’s eyes widened as they furiously worked to shift their cars to accommodate the new terrain. With one last graceful swerve, Kagome ended up on black asphalt, straight and stretching to the finish line. Slamming her foot down onto the pedal, she sped down the road. She was soon accompanied by Naraku and Inuyasha, the tree neck-and-neck. And neck?
As the finish line came into view she kept her cool and waited for the other tow to break first. Finally, Naraku broke, using his Nitro boosters to pull away. Inuyasha did the same and Kagome grinned to herself. ‘Suckers.’ She pressed the pretty little button on her steering wheel and shot forward, barely discernable against the dark black asphalt of the road, bypassing Naraku and Inuyasha and crossing the finish line. She drifted into the large semi-circle in a graceful arc, and stepped out of her car. The crowd roared, her girls cheered, and she smiled brightly, still high from the adrenaline rush. Inuyasha crossed, followed by Naraku, Bankotsu, Kaguya, Toran, and Hiten. Kagome found herself swallowed in a giant hug, courtesy of Team Midoriko.
“AND KAGOME TAKES FIRST!!! FOLLOWED BY INUYASHA AND NARAKU COMES IN THIRD PLACE!! CONGRATULATIONS KAGOME!!!!!!!!!!!”
Kagome suddenly found herself hoisted onto Kouga’s shoulder and the entire Midoriko and Fang crews made their way to their garage. Everyone crowded into the loft and the music began to blare as drinks were passed out. Shippo came by to congratulate everyone, slipping Sango two huge manila envelopes before leaving. Sango pulled herself up onto the counter of the bar and whistled for everyone’s attention.
“First of all, I just wanna congratulate everyone. Good job, ladies, gentlemen! Second, Shippo just dropped these off.” She lifted two manila envelopes. “Yannoe what these mean, right?” The girls of Midoriko cheered.
“PAYDAY!!” Sango grinned.
“Right! Sesshoumaru, here’s Team Fang’s first paycheck.” The silver-haired Inu-Youkai stepped forward and accepted the envelope. Both he and Sango began to distribute the white envelopes from the manila envelopes. Then Sango resumed her speech. ‘Well done everyone, you earned every dollar. Now, I think our Kagome should give a little speech, ne?” The crowd agreed and Kagome was pulled up onto the counter. She gave Sango a glare before smiling at everyone.
“Girls, you did good today. You all made me proud. And as for Team Fang, you guys really impressed me. Great job everyone. Now go have fun. Remember, if you’re gonna get drunk, have someone drive you home! Or else you’ll be sleeping in the loft tonight!” She scolded, emphasizing her words with a finger.
“Typical Kagome,” the ladies of Team Midoriko muttered simultaneously. Kagome laughed and stepped down. Immediately, she frowned. While she’d been up there, she hadn’t seen Inuyasha. Spotting Miroku near by, she walked up to the raven-haired man.
“Hey Miroku. Do you know where Inuyasha is?” Sapphire orbs looked into violet ones. She saw a hint of mischief among the swirls of concern.
“He’s probably off sulking. He’s a sore loser.. In fact, this is the first time he’s ever lost.” This startled the blue-eyed girl.
“Really? Wow..” Miroku laughed a bit at her awe-filled voice. Just then, Enju stepped up to Kagome.
“Kags, you got company waiting for you outside.”
“Thanks, Enju.” Kagome gave the girl a nod before walking over to the loft’s railing, and saw Naraku, Bankotsu, Hiten, Kaguya, and Toran standing outside. She descended the stairs and approached them, everyone else watching from the loft. Toran was the first to come up to her. The panther demon gave her a hug.
“Good job, Kagome.” The miko smiled when they pulled apart.
“Thanks Tora-chan. You did good too.” Kaguya came next, smiling softly and Kagome found herself swallowed in a tight hug.
“I’m glad you won, Kagome. I would rather lose to you than one of those arrogant, so-called men.” The two laughed and Team Gouhara’s leader stepped away. Hiten came next and gave her a loose hug. “Not bad, wench.” She raised a brow, causing him to grin sheepishly. As soon as he released her, Bankotsu swept her up and spun her around a bit. He gave her a soft kiss on the cheek and laughed as she blushed.
“I guess it’s okay when you lose to a goddess,” he said as he set her down. Kagome smiled.
“Thanks Ban-kun, but I’m no goddess.” He merely shrugged while giving her a dazzling smile. Really, she’d probably be in love with the guy if he was just a teensy bit more mature. Shaking her head, she turned to face Naraku. He stayed where he was and regarded her for a minute. Sapphire and ruby stared at each other unflinchingly. He gave her a curt nod, which she returned, before turning on his heel and walked off. The others said their various farewells before departing for their own garages. Kagome turned around and was greeted with the sight of the entire Team Midoriko and fang staring at her from the railing of the loft. Blinking, she scolded them. As they scattered away from the rail, she laughed.
Noticing a glint of silver from the corner of her eye, she saw that Inuyasha was lying on the hood of his car, parked a little ways away in front of the old, empty garage next door. Her breath caught as she studied him. The full moon shone down on him, making his silver hair seem otherworldly. His eyes were closed; his inky black eyelashes resting on his cheeks. His tanned skin glowed in the moonshine, highlighted by his white shirt and black jeans. He lay there, arms crossed behind his head, one knee bent while the other leg was stretched out before him. ‘He really is beautiful, you gotta admit that.’ She approached him quietly, but she caught his adorable puppy dog ears swivel in her direction. Standing before him, she greeted him softly.
“Hey.”

Sprawled out on the hood of his car, he watched as the five racers finally left Kagome. Closing his eyes, he succumbed to his thoughts. ‘I. . .I lost. To her. But I’ve never lost to anyone. Except Sesshoumaru, but that’s different. But she. .Kagome. What is it about her? Her scent is unique. I’ve never once met a woman, Youkai nor human, who bears the scent of Sakura blossoms. And Kagome’s scent goes beyond that. There’s a hint of sunshine. And when you really focus, you can detect a hint of morning dew. A spring morning. That’s what she smells like.’ He froze. What the hell was he doing? He was obsessing over some chick’s scent. He was mentally scolding himself when he heard someone approaching. He took a discreet sniff. Sakura blossoms with a hint of sunshine. ‘Shit.’
“Hey.”

He cracked open an eye and looked at her for a moment. He closed his eye again. “Yo.” He heard a rustle. She was fidgeting.
“Mind id I join you?” He scooted over. Carefully, so that she didn’t scratch his paint, she settled beside him, hugging her bent knees and staring up at the moon. He cracked open an eye and studied her.
Her azure eyes sparkled and her full pink lips rested in a small smile. Her long, black hair cascaded behind her and his fingers itched to run through those silky, ebony locks. With his eyes, he traced the line of her jaw down her throat, over the swell and curve of her breasts, and down her toned tummy; to which her tiny black top gave total visual access to. The short, black skirt she wore revealed lots of leg, lots of creamy, silky skin, lots of juicy thighs, lots of. .Inuyasha snapped back to reality as she spoke.
“Inuyasha?”
“Yeah?”
“Mirok u. . Miroku told me that this was, uh, the first time you. .ah. .”
“Lost?”
“Yeah.” Silence fell between them. “I’m sorry, if it helps any.”
“S’alright, it was bound to happen sooner or later.” She made small sound of acknowledgement. Turning to him to say something, her breath hitched. The silver-haired Hanyou was staring at her. Sapphire orbs stared into golden depths. She watched as his gaze lowered to her lips. He dipped his head and then--
“Kagome! Inuyasha!” They jumped apart at the sound of Miroku’s voice.

“But Sango, my sweet, I want to spend time with you!”
“Miroku, you only want to cop a feel! Now go look for them, I’m getting worried!” Miroku sighed.
“As you wish, Lady Sango.”

“Kagome-sama, Sango and I were very worried. I hope you and Inuyasha have worked things out?” Kagome nodded, a slight blush tinting her cheeks. “Shall we return to the party?”
“Alright.”
“Keh.” Miroku turned away from them and smiled mischievously. ‘Don’t try to hide it, Inuyasha. I know what you were about tot do.’
