Kagome had just finished a mountain of make-up work for school. She was tired and it was already 11:30 p.m. Studying would just have to wait until the morning. Kagome snuggled under her bed sheets in her oversized t-shirt and closed her eyes. But she must not have been as tired as she thought, because ten minutes later she was still awake. She felt restless; like there was still something she needed to stay awake for.

Without even realizing it, her thoughts drifted back to the feudal era and certain hanyou. She couldn't help but wonder if he was still awake or sleeping high in the braches of a tree. She always felt like this whenever she was back in her time. She couldn't stop thinking of him, wondering if he was okay. But she had so much work to catch up on that going through the well early was not even an option. Kagome sighed and closed her eyes and tried to focus her thoughts on something else.

Kagome heard the sound of her bedroom window opening and froze. She clamped her eyes shut and willed herself to believe that it was only her imagination. But then she heard footsteps and her body immediately went on red alert. With reflexes faster than she knew she had, Kagome grabbed the intruder's hand that was stroking her cheek.

She opened her eyes and tried not to scream at large figure looming over her. But then she looked up into bright amber eyes and went calm. She held Inuyasha's wrist in a tight grip, still a little shaken up.

"Inuyasha what are you doing here?" She asked sitting up.

"I-um" He turned his face away from her. Kagome knew something wasn't right. She stood up so she could look at him. His eyes were illuminated and flashed brilliantly in the dark. They darted all around her room but never looked at her directly. Kagome didn't understand. Why did he look so scared? She had never seen Inuyasha look so frightened as he did now and it was terrifying her.

"Inuyasha is everybody okay?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah they're fine." He looked so jumpy. She had a feeling that if it weren't for the grip she had on his wrist he would have leapt out of her window a long time ago.

"Inuyasha what happened to you?" She was trying to read his emotions but he kept breaking eye contact with her.

"Look Kagome, I'm sorry for coming in your room and waking you up. So I'll just go now."

"Inuyasha I don't mind, I wasn't even asleep yet. Tell me what happened."

"I-I just don't want to talk about it."

"Okay, it's fine if you don't want to talk about it right now. But I'm not letting you go back in the state that you're in."

"What?" Inuyasha looked completely shocked.

"I'm not letting you go back until you've calmed down and gotten some rest. Now wait her." Kagome walked out of her room and to the hall closet. She got a blanket and one of the extra pillows. When she walked back into her room she was happy to see he was still there.

"You can sleep here." She said as she placed the pillow on the floor right next her bed and handed him the blanket. Inuyasha was still standing as still as a statue looking at her like she had lost her mind.

Kagome ignored him and drawled back into bed. After a few minutes she heard him settle himself on the floor next to her. She peeked over the edge of the bed to look at him.

`He still looks so tense.'

Hesitantly, Kagome reached her hand out and began running her fingers through his hair. He stiffened up for a second and then relaxed under her ministrations. Eventually her arm got tired and she stopped, but she still had trouble getting to sleep. She couldn't help but wonder what could have happened to him.
