Chapter Two: Thoughts of You
“Inuyasha what was that?” Kikyo asked Inuyasha, clinging to his clothing.
That was Kagome awakening from a thousand year slumber…” Inuyasha's eyes grew worried. Kikyo was confused, she gave a confused look. I don't know the exact details, but it was said that about a thousand years ago there was a family that was very poor. Kagome's ancestor, Sayuri, was apart of that family. Her mother had longed pasts away, and all she had left was her father.
Her father eventually had to pay lots of debts so he sold her to an okiya, a geisha house. When her Mizuage was sold some guy bought it for a crazy amount of yen! Of course she couldn't deny the bid. So when she was a full geisha, now that her Mizuage was sold, she could take on a Danna. The man threatened her that if she didn't take him on as one, he would kill her… he wasn't exactly the nicest person around. He was also the emperor of the Northern castles, so that I was a reason too I suppose.
Sayuri accepted and she became his wife, paying off her debt with her Mizuage money. He soon felt a need for an heir to his throne, so he asked Sayuri to bear his child. Sayuri, being his wife, had to say yes, but she didn't want to. She loved another man.
“Who was it?” Kikyo asked, obviously interested.
Inuyasha sighed and murmured, “At first it was my father, Inutaisho, but as soon as he learned the horrible fate he would bear he left her,” Inuyasha jumped down from the tree, setting Kikyo lightly on her feet. She looked up to him with amusement, suppressing a fit of giggles.
What horrible fate?” Kikyo asked almost innocently.
Sayuri was the reincarnation of Wrath,” Inuyasha explained plainly. He found it hard to believe it himself, full of regret that he never got a chance to tell her; since he was just told a few months ago by Lady Kaede. He wondered how it was possible though, some things just didn't quite fit… something seemed a little bit off about this story, and he was determined as ever to find out.
Kikyo rolled her eyes ignorantly, “But that can't be right the Sins aren't real people!”
At the beginning they were….” Inuyasha said plainly, “Wrath was the most evil of them all and eventually all of the sins decided to lock Wrath away in the depths of Mt. Hakurei. Wrath eventually died away and her spirit filled the world, creating hatred. But the Sins thought they had murdered her, so they never thought that she would reincarnate. But Wrath is the most powerful Sin; she has the power to revive herself. When the other sins saw this they decided to make themselves like Wrath, so that every human would have the same amount of sins.
But that still doesn't explain Kagome,” sighed Kikyo impatiently.
Every once in a while something would go wrong and a human would be given too much Wrath, which created a demon,” continued Inuyasha.
“Once again what does this have to do with Kagome?” asked Kikyo.
Let me finish woman!” Inuyasha glared at Kikyo, Kikyo glared back, “Anyway, all of the Sins cut off a piece of their hair before they set themselves free into the world. In about 1 million years the earth would be filled with humans and they would come back as themselves.
But since Wrath was awoken first she burned all of the sins hair so they would not be able to come back. Wrath was only a spirit and she needed to find a host. Kagome, the ancient one, was just a baby, so she hid in the child.Sayuri's parents soon realized something was wrong and hired a monk to try and do something, but unfortunately all he could do was seal Wrath, not destroy her.
“I get it so Kagome's Wrath,” said Kikyo stupidly.
“Right…” Inuyasha moaned silently, shaking his head.
Where are Miroku and Sango at? They didn't get caught in the attack did they!?” asked Kikyo exhibiting false hurt. Inuyasha turned to look at her, and then looked around the terrace. He couldn't see them, but he could sense them, and heard a faint woman's voice as his eyes poked up.
“Hey Inuyasha, over here!” called Sango from behind them. They were riding Kirara, Miroku held a tired Shippo in his hands. They land and Kirara immediately transforms out of her demon form. Inuyasha are you all right?!” Sango yells frantically, running up to Inuyasha, keeping her distance from Kikyo. “What happened?” asked Sango looking for answers.
Inuyasha's expression changed, and became frightened, but immediately returned to normal. “Naraku appeared out of nowhere and released this new attack, well, look for yourself,” Inuyasha lied, knowing very well that it was Kagome who had done it. He moved out of the way, showing him the destroyed terrace.
“We should go back to Kaede's.” said Kikyo, and with that they left.

Kagome once again woke up in a dark room, asking herself the same question that everyone else in Naraku's castle had been wondering, “What happened… I remember everything… but… what did exactly happen?” she thought back again. And all she could remember was just getting really angry. She felt pain, hurt, and anguish, all of the things you could think of. She sighed to herself, “Wait… Bankotsu!” she gasped and sprinted out of her room and next door into Bankotsu's.
“Bankotsu…” Kagome stepped silently into his room, closing the door behind him. She looked down upon the motionless man on a futon. She smiled, realizing that he was breathing. Kneeling down beside him, she tucked her feet in under her. He was all bundled up in 3 blankets, and a large bandage was wrapped around his entire torso. She sighed, “If it weren't for me you wouldn't be in this situation.” She stroked his hair as tears begin to coat her cheeks.
A hand touched hers; she looks down, realizing that is Bankotsu's pale light brown hand. “Why the hell are you crying?” Bankotsu asks laughing hoarsely. He smiles up and while she glares down at him, narrowing her eyes. “Sorry, but I'm completely fine. Just a bit tired though,” he sighs, grabbing Kagome by the waist and pulling him down on top of her. Her cheeks flare up seeing that their faces are only a few inches away from each other. Bankotsu laughs to himself and sits upright; his blanket falls off, leaving him nude.
All Kagome can stare at is his bottom half, her eyes widen; she can't take her eyes away from it. Bankotsu obviously is confused and gives her an odd look. Kagome points down, covering her eyes, she whispers a word, “Penis.” Bankotsu grasps the blanket, wrapping it around his entire self, yelling, embarrassed.
Suddenly his face flushes red, and his expression becomes angry, he yells, “Jakotsu!” Jakotsu quickly runs in, laughing hysterically. He holds his stomach, piling over with laughter. Bankotsu's hand wraps itself into a fist. Bankotsu closes his eyes, fighting the urge to punch Jakotsu squarely in the face. “You unclothed me!? Why the hell! I didn't get attacked in any other area besides my torso, and you decide to take my entire clothing off!?”
“Sorry…” Jakotsu says unapologetically. His laughter continues to echo through the halls of the temple until Renkotsu shows up with a confused and bothered expression, shrugging his shoulders to Jakotsu. Jakotsu stops her laughing abruptly, “Okay here's what happened…” Jakotsu and Renkotsu begin to walk away from Bankotsu and Kagome. In seconds you can hear the two laughing hysterically.
Bankotsu frowns to himself, looking solemnly at Kagome, “Are you alright…?” he blushes as he asks this, remembering the previous event. Kagome shakes her head. Bankotsu narrows his eyes, “Get over it already! It's not like you've never seen one… right?” Bankotsu pries.
Kagome blushes, “Just go put on some clothes, striper!” Kagome stands up and begins to make her way out the room, obviously flustered. A laugh is heard from behind her, she turns around to see Bankotsu a few inches away from her face again. She blushes even more than before. She worries if he noticed or if it amuses him. Kagome begins to panic and breathe heavily. No other person, not even Inuyasha, has made her feel this way before.
He grins. “Well, I'm going to wash up quickly… and then I'll come back. 15 minutes top, I promise,” he says sliding his way through the doorway which Kagome is partly blocking, “feel free to pry through my personal belongings,” he winks and is off. Kagome sighs, and watches as he walks off. She blushes to herself, thinking herself as obsessed. “I just met this man… well not really, but he's my enemy. Or well, used to be my enemy. Why am I so drawn to him? This is… this is insane.
Kagome is wrapped up in her own thoughts to notice too much of anything. She tries and concentrates on her family, wondering how worried they are. She hasn't been home for more than 4 months. 2 months had been spent here with Naraku and company. She wonders how Sota, her mom, and grandpa are doing. Are they okay? Are they in a mid-life crisis? “I'm going to the well one day soon. I want to see my family. But I have to promise myself that I'll act as if nothing has changed. My mom will worry even more if I tell her what actually is going on. Kami knowsshe doesn't need more worry than she already has.
Bankotsu barges in and knocks her out of her thoughts. He's dressed in his casual wear, the same thing that he wears all the time. “How many pairs of that does he own; or does like just wear the same thing all the time, without washing it? I mean, how many times have I seen him in that? I'm sure he has other clothes, but is that like his favorite outfit? His definition of fashion? Wait - what am I? An editor of Vogue?
“Well, I'm obviously done,” says Bankotsu running his fingers through his ankle length hair. Kagome gasps, realizing how long and beautiful it is. He takes notice of what he's looking at it and announces, “I want to cut it, but I can't find the heart to.” He reaches behind his back, grasping the hair in a fistful, “Braiding it is like hell…” he moans.
“I'll do it.” Kagome rushes over to Bankotsu, ordering him to sit down. He does, obviously pleased that there's one more task he won't have to do. She begins, but first combs it through, seeing as there are many knots. When done, combing, which had taken five minutes at the most, she attempts to braid. “Dear Kami, you really should cut it. It's excruciatingly painful to braid you hair.” Kagome sighs as she finishes.
Bankotsu laughs and turns to face Kagome, feeling around his braid. He nods, “Decent job, but of course I could've done better. But it's alright, I'll live I guess.” He shrugs, smiling, and stands to his feet.
Kagome rolls her eyes, “Go play in traffic.” She stands up, furious. Begins her march out of the room but her hand is captured by Bankotsu, “you heard what I said, no go do it!” she huffs and puffs, crying for Bankotsu to let her go. He just smiles, wrapping his arms around her waist. Instantly the blush comes back into her cheeks.
“What's traffic?” Bankotsu plants kisses up and down her neck. Kagome stiffens up, her eyes widening in wonder. A light moan escapes from her mouth, one that she will ever regret. He seems to not notice, for she feels no tug at the corners of his mouth. He continues kissing up her neck to her collar bone. “You didn't answer my question, Kagome…”
Kagome's breath sounds very uneven as this slips out, “Umm, it's in the 21st century. We have things, well, they're called cars. Like… well… they take you where you want to go. It's, well, very mechanical. And umm… we have these things called highways… and well… if too many cars are on them it causes…” Kagome stops her words, as she is now aware of his tongue moving along her neck. She gasps and tries to form a sentence, “accidents…”
Bankotsu looks Kagome in the eyes, blankly saying, “Like I said, you talk way too much.” Bankotsu crushes his lips into hers again, pressing his body against hers. Kagome kisses back fervently, willingly wrapping her arms around his neck. Bankotsu's tongue runs into her mouth, exploring it hungrily. Kagome does the same, her breathing becoming heavy. Bankotsu pulls away while Kagome is reluctant to though. “Oyasumi.” Bankotsu closes the door to his room, leaving Kagome outside and puzzled.
Oyasumi…” Kagome smiles to herself.
Everybody wake up! Naraku wants us at Mt. Hakurei stat! It's supposedly urgent! I swear why the man got to be keeping us down? yelled Kagome as she ran through the halls banging pots and pans together like a 4-year-old. She pauses at Kagome's, throwing open the door, “Oh and Kagome wear this!” Jakotsu throws clothes into Kagome's face, waking her up abruptly.
Why?” Kagome yawns, throwing the clothes aside.
I don't know…” Jakotsu shrugged her shoulders and continued onto Bankotsu's room “Wake up Bankotsu!” Jakotsu bangs the pots and pans together again, creating the racket that awakens everyone in the temple. Everyone responds with a well deserved: Damn it all Jakotsu! Jakotsu simply laughs and wanders off, continuing with the banging of pots and pans.
Kagome decides it's about time to get out of bed, she tells herself that she'll bathe later, when she has time. So she throws on her thigh length kimono over her head. The kimono is purely white, long leggings cover her slender legs; her feet are basking in sandals. She brushes her hair, noticing how it's lost its curl. Now her hair is altogether straight, like she'd always wanted it. “Sweet, I'll never have to touch a flat iron again.” She then adds black eyeliner, heavy black mascara, and eye shadow. Kagome smiles to herself, pleased with the way she looks. She skips off to Bankotsu's room to see him in the process of pulling his shirt over his head. “So Bankotsu what do you think?” Kagome questions, blushing.
Bankotsu turns around, now braiding his hair. He smiles, “You look gorgeous. No surprise there.” He smiles and a huge yawn escapes his mouth. “Let's go, Kagura's waiting. And I think we all know how much she despises waiting. Not exactly her strong point, right?” Bankotsu walks forward, talking Kagome's hand in his.
The five of them jump aboard Kagura's feather, and off they set to Mt. Hakurei. Kagome is deathly bored as they head over, and no matter how much Bankotsu mutters on about his past she can't seem to think of Inuyasha. But, day by day, the more time they spend with each other the more she is able to forget Inuyasha. They jump the feather when they arrive at their destination. When making it into the depths of Mt. Hakurei they see Naraku regenerating.
“Um, why is Naraku regenerating?” whispers Kagome to Kagura.
“Your attack almost killed him, idiot. I don't think he was expecting that, so he didn't have time at all to put up a shield. Not like a shield would have stood up against that anyhow,” snorts Kagura. “And yes, before you say anything it was your fault. I don't know what exactly happened though. It was quite a task to get away without getting blown to bits.”
Kagome sighs, “Oh…”
Naraku stares long and hard at Kagome before speaking loudly, “Kagome I need you to go and take the jewel shards from Kikyo and bring them back to me. Now go,” says Naraku blankly. Kagome simply stands still. Apparently he had forgotten their deal, but of course she wasn't going to be the one to remind him. Naraku stares at her and smiles. “If you wish.”
Kagome nods and is off. “Maybe they're at Kaede's. We always used to go back there to regroup and what not. Well, this is surely going to be quite the ordeal. I wonder if I'll see Inuyasha… I hope I don't. He's the last thing I want to see right now; right beside that dreadful Kikyo that is. If I see her I swear I'll kill her.
Inuyasha sits under a tree, pondering very hard about what Kaede had said to him when they had returned early this morning. He was bothered by it; in fact he was disgusted by it. He was disgusted by himself, all that he stood for, all that he was, all that he had done in order to hurt and demolish Kagome. Thoughts of her consumed him these days. She was all he could think about, and all he wanted to think about.
Flashback
My dear sister has finally come back to me!” Kaede resounded, looking at Kikyo proudly and full of glee. She was tempted to throw her arms around her dear sister, but held back the temptation, she knew Kikyo would not allow such a show of affection.“Inuyasha where isKagome?” she questioned Inuyasha now. Not seeing Kagome anywhere in sight. She had seen Miroku, Sango, Kirara, Shippo, Inuyasha, and Kikyo, but not the one that she had wished to see.
“Um, she left,” announcedSango, her eyes clouding.
Inuyasha I need to talk to you,” Kaede narrowed her eyes at him, and Inuyasha had to admit that he was afraid at this point. He began to follow, but Kaede noticed that Kikyo was following also. She shot an irritated glance at her sister, “in private.” Kikyo backed up, giving her sister the same glace. Kaede and Inuyasha proceed into the tent. She angrily narrows her eyes at him and whispers harshly, “Why don't you tell me what really happened?
Inuyasha breathes in slowly, “I told her to leave and threatened to kill her…I…Ididn't want to hurt her that badly! But it was either that or an even worse consequence! You don't know what you're talking about Kaede! You're jumping to conclusions in your head, but you don't know the whole story!”
You fool what were you thinking!” spat Kaede.
“Kaede! She is Wrath! The most evil being that has ever walked the face of the earth! You know what will happen if she stays with me! Wrath will awaken again and she will kill her! I don't want that to happen! I was thinking of her! Only of her!” cried Inuyasha furiously. The dog demons eyes began to glowa faint red, but Kaede was not shaken a bit.
Inuyasha you really don't get it do you?!” yelled Kaede a tad to loudly.
Inuyasha's facial expression was confused, “Huh?
I'm sure that Kagome would have rather died knowing that you loved her than live with a broken heart!” said Kaede bitterly. Her face was a mixture of anger and sadness. She had made it seem that Kagome had died, but with her predictions that might come true. “You've made a mistake,Inuyasha, now fix it.
End Flashback
Inuyasha walked out of the tent in a rage. In a rage that Kaede would say something like that to him, in a rage that he knew Kaede was exactly right. It was wrong what he had done to Kagome, but he couldn't take it back, but sooner or later he would try to fix it. But his top priority right now was to make sure that Wrath would not awaken. Or else the world itself would not have a future.
“Inuyasha what's a `matter? What'd she say?” Kikyo wanders up to Inuyasha, placing her hands softly on his chest. He glances at her, but then looks back into the sky. Kikyo is annoyed, “why won't you tell me Inuyasha? What's wrong with you? Ever since we've gotten back all you've been able to think about is her,” said Kikyo spitefully.
Inuyasha sighed, “Kaede said nothing worth mentioning. And thanks for caring, I'm great,” Inuyasha moves past Kikyo and begins to walk to his own tent, but stops himself, “She has a name you know, and it's not her.” With that he stalks off to his own tent, leaving Kikyo to her own thoughts. As soon as he enters his tent Inuyasha falls into a restless sleep.
Kagome is running through the treetops, wondering how she even acquired this skill. She was lucky if she could run 2 miles in her time, but now, she was running on the tops of trees? She's never been one of the swiftest people, but not it seems as if she is alert 24/7 all day, everyday. Something's going on with her, but she can't quite put a finger on it. It's puzzling, it's nerve-racking, and it's just plain annoying.
Kagome comes up to the village where Inuyasha and Company are likely to be staying. She pauses in her steps and observes the area. She notices that almost everyone in the village is shopping around for goods, tending to their children, young girls whispering and squealing. She doesn't see anyone she knows, meaning no Sango, Miroku, Kaede, Kikyo, or Inuyasha. She sighs, deciding this is going to be easy.
Kagome sets off to the end of the village on the trees, keeping her feet light and movements swift. Covered by the vegetation she can easily see what is going in the back of the village, and notices that no one is there. But she does see a sleeping figure through one of the tents. She recognizes the tiny ears, and realizes that it is Inuyasha. Her senses keen and she realizes that the jewel shards are in the same tent as him, obviously Kikyo doesn't have much regard for the Shikon No Tama.
She tiptoes into the tent, making sure not to awaken Inuyasha. Her scent won't awaken him for sure, for she has on some kind of spell that masks her scent. She sees the jewel shards a corner, and swiftly but slowly grabs them. The shards glow, sensing some kind of power. Kagome pays it no attention, but instead heads out. Upon her retreat Inuyasha senses that the jewel shards are gone, having a good clue of who it is.
Inuyasha sprints out, following the scent of the person. Recently, Kikyo had put a spell on the bottle that held that held the shards. Whoever was holding them, if any spell had been placed on them, it would be immediately diminished with a single touch. No one knew of this except for Inuyasha and her, and they planned to keep it that way, “Damn.” Inuyasha sees her on the treetops, not running very fast. He yells out, “Kagome! Give the jewel shards back!” Trying to forget what Kaede said to him earlier has expression changed to pure madness. Not ready to fix what has happened yet.
“Make me half-breed!” Kagome called out, mocking him. Inuyasha swung out his sword, going for Kagome's ankles. Kagome back flips out of the treetops and onto the ground below. Kagome reaches for the three shurikens in her hair, holding them between her fingers. She throws them at him as he dives from the trees; in the process getting cuts on his arms.
Kagome turns her head and runs further into the woods, Inuyasha speeding after her with the agility of a lion. Inuyasha sees that this is a chance for him to strike, noticing that all she's focused on is dodging the trees. He lashes out at her arm with his Tetsaiga, making her stop in her tracks. Holding her arm Kagome looks up, noticing that Inuyasha is about to release the Wind Scar. “Stop it!” yells Kagome as she puts her able arm in front of herself. The Wind Scar abruptly changes direction, heading straight for Inuyasha.
Kagome runs up to him, kneeling by him. “Dear Kami, you're just a bunch of trouble… I could leave you here, but that wouldn't be me, Inuyasha. I'm not Kikyo.” She lifts his arm around her shoulder, and carries him to a nearby spring. Pulling off his shirt she begins to blush, but doesn't notice it herself. She looks at how finely toned his chest is, but then thinks of Bankotsu's finely toned chest, and weird thoughts begin to swarm her mind. She shakes her head. Grabbing bandages from inside her kimono she quickly bandages his chest and arms; and then bandages her own arm.
While Kagome is over by the lake, Inuyasha's eyes flutter open sleepily. He looks around, trying not to move his body too much. He realizes that he doesn't know where he is, but he does smell something: Kagome's scent. Inuyasha turns his head, but realizes it causes pain. “Kagome!” he shouts her name, and she reacts. Spinning around she stares at him. Despite his pain, he sits up; Kagome rushes to him and orders him to lie down.
“You're just going to open your wounds; it was hard enough to bandage them,” Kagome sighs, resting a hand on his chest he gently lies back down. “You might not want to move for at least another thirty minutes, so just stay still, alright?” Kagome says massaging her bandaged arm. Suddenly Inuyasha remembers what he had done and also notices what she's wearing. Her kimono top is pulled down; only a white fleece bra covers her chest. She quickly pulls her kimono back up, noticing that he is staring.
“Kagome…” he moans, reaching a hand out to her. She reacts by back flipping and throwing three daggers, marking the no passage” point. She quickly jumps to her feet and flees. He sighs, realizing that he's lost her. He lies still, enough time that he'd think was at least and thirty minutes to an hour. He sits up and realizes that he feels somewhat better. He notices a note to his right, picking it up he reads it aloud:
Dear Inuyasha,
Inuyasha… you're an idiot, a pure unadulterated idiot. What has made you such a push-over, such a jerk, such a…there's no words to describe you at this point. Anyway, I've left the jewel shards, so I'd keep them under better watch if I were you. It'd be great if you could put them around the scrawny bitches'neck, I would love to ring it. But don' t make this harder than it already is Inuyasha, don't act like that, not even for a moment that you're sorry, because I know you're not. You love Kikyo, and I can accept that… Bust I still love you, in many ways. And that's never going to change. I hate you though. I hate you so much. I can't help but love you though/ Pshh, whatever.
Sincerely,Kagome Higurashi
Inuyasha found the jewel shards on the ground; he noticed there was a gold chain intertwined with it. He untangled them and realized that it was a heart locket. He suddenly remembered the time he and Kagome had went to her time and taken a picture in some sort of box, and how when all of that was finished she had inserted it into a tiny heart-shaped locket. He always thought it was girlish, but chose to wear it anyway. And then he observed that while putting the locket on the Beads of Segregation were no longer there. He looked around and found them near the pond, he snuggled back into those also; just didn't feel right without them. He began his walk back to camp and admitted it to himself once more. “I was wrong, but I'm going to right that wrong. But I have to play along first, with Kikyo; I must convince her that I'm on her side and her side only. I have to act as if I never cared for Kagome and never will. Hmm, well, the game begins.
A/N: Edited… this one… I'm just really disappointed in myself. I must have ruined your eyesight with that. I mean, seriously. How could you read that? It was just like, RAWR. Just terrible! I want to hurt myself… but I think I did a good job editing; even though it took forever! Sorry for the inconvenience!
