Chapter II

A few hours had past after they left the castle. The clouds had disappeared and a clear blue sky watched over the group. The sunlight filtered through the thick leaves of the trees.

“Damn it! I let Naraku escape again.” InuYasha thought to himself angrily.

He walked in a steady paste with his hands crossed on his chest with a serious look on his face. He was thinking about what Naraku told him as they fled the castle. Kagome, now awake, noticed InuYasha's pondering look and asked what was the matter.

“Oh it's nothing…” He replied.

“Are you sure? You seem bothered.”

“I am telling you there is nothing wrong!” InuYasha said angrily as usual.

“Fine! You don't have to be so mad about nothing!” Said Kagome with the same tone as InuYasha in a glare.

“Here we go again.” Mumbled Sango in a sigh.

Kagome slowed down her walk to meet up with Sango and the others who were trailing behind. She noticed that Kirara and Shippo were still unconscious due to the miasma.

“I don't think it's a good thing that those two are still unconscious after a few hours since we left the castle.”

“Yes I agree, replied Miroku. Perhaps we should pay a visit to Kaede and see if anything is wrong with them.”

“I also think that's a good idea. Added Sango as she held Kirara in her arms. She is unusually warm. I think she is getting hotter.”

“I don't know what your all so worried about. Said InuYasha aggravated. So the miasma was stronger than before, that doesn't mean anything. It will only take a little longer for them to get better. Besides, we're okay aren't we?”

They had now stopped their walk. “I guess that makes sense…” Replied Kagome somewhat convinced.

“One thing for sure, we need some rest.” Miroku added with a yawn.

“There's a small village not far from here. We could stop and rest there for the night.” Sango said with a calm voice.

“And besides, what else do we have to do? Besides Naraku of course.” Added Kagome.

InuYasha agreed with a sigh.

They arrived at the village just before it started to rain. The clouds filled the sky quite quickly and the wind picked up.

“We made it just in time.” Said Kagome as she walked into the cabin.

“It's a good thing you know some people in this village who were kind enough to lend us this cabin, Sango.” Said Miroku.

They settled down and lit a small fire in the middle of the room to keep warm. By this time, Shippo and Kirara had woken up. “Oh boy how long was I out?” asked Shippo rubbing his eyes.

“You were unconscious for almost four hours.” Replied Kagome.

“I don't remember a thing and I don't feel so good.”

“Don't be such a whining brat Shippo!” Said InuYasha, sitting on the floor with his arms crossed.

Shippo sat in a daze without saying any remarks towards InuYasha.

“Don't worry Shippo, we will go see Kaede first thing tomorrow morning if you and Kirara still feel sick.” Kagome said in a comforting voice after giving InuYasha a glare.

“It has been a long day for all of us, it would be best that we all get some rest.” Said Miroku in a yawn.

All but InuYasha went to sleep. He stayed awake and kept guard over the cabin. He had a pondering look in his eyes. What Naraku told him earlier that day kept floating in his mind. “I am not sure what he meant but knowing him, it can't be good.” He mumbled to himself. The rain hadn't stopped falling since they arrived. The sound of the water dripping from the tree leaves seemed almost soothing to InuYasha until he heard a noise that got him out of his trance. He turned towards the direction of the sound. It was Kagome who coughed behind him. InuYasha sat beside her as she awoke.

“Are you okay?” he asked concerned.

“Yeah I am fine, she replied in a cough, it's probably because of the rain…might have caught a cold.” She knelt her head on his shoulder. “Thanks for caring” she said in a smile. InuYasha blushed for a moment.

“I wonder what's going to happen once we get rid of Naraku and we have the Shikon jewel back into one piece,” said Kagome pondering. “Miroku's curse of the Wind Tunnel will be lifted from his hand and then he might settle down with Sango.”

“And I will become a full demon!” added InuYasha with a smile.

Kagome looked at him.

“Is that really what you want? Even after everything you have seen?”

“Of course! I wanted to become full demon for as long as I can remember.” InuYasha quickly replied. Kagome didn't add anything else.

“I know what everyone will do once we're done; but I don't know what I will do… Once were done, I guess I will just head back to my time and stay there. It's not like there's any use for me here once the jewel is complete…” Kagome said as she turned her face away to wipe a tear from her right eye.

“Nonsense, I still need you.” Replied InuYasha as he turned her face back to his.

She smiled as she closed her eyes. InuYasha could tell she was very tired. He placed her on the bed. He walked back to his spot near the entrance and continued his watch. A small thunder erupted from the sky and the rain kept coming down to earth.

Morning arrived very quickly. The sun was out and everything looked alive and well. They got up and started to get ready to leave since they had a long walk to go today.
As they were getting ready to leave, Sango noticed that Shippo and Kirara were still asleep.

“Kirara, Shippo, its time to go. We are leaving.” She said, as she was about to step out of the cabin.

They didn't move at all. Noticing something was wrong, she walked over and tried to shake them out of their sleep.

The other three were outside waiting. “Where did Sango go?” one of them asked.

Just as InuYasha was about to say some rude comment, Sango's voice was heard coming from the cabin.

Her voice was filled with anxiousness and fear. “Everyone! Something is wrong with Shippo and Kirara!”
