Hope you like this! I got my idea from the episode after “Kohaku's decision” at least I think that's what it's called. See bio if you're confused.

Summary: The Shikon no Tama is complete which means Naraku's dead, Kagura's free, Kohaku's safe and best of all, Kikyou's gone for good. It's Kagome's 18th birthday. What surprise present will her Hanyou Koibito, InuYasha, give her? Read. Inu/Kag, Mir/san, Hobo/dirt.

Rated PG for the romance but mostly for InuYasha's vocabulary.

Chapter 1: Memories

“INUYASHA!” A crying miko screamed. InuYasha had just taken a blow from Naraku in their final face-off.

“Feh, I'm fine Kagome, do you really have that little a faith in my saving my own ass?” Came the voice of the tiring Hanyou. “BAKURYUUHA!” He yelled, as the scarlet colored Tetsusaiga threw Naraku's attack right back at him.

`Thank Kami he's alright' “Kikyou NOW!” Kagome screamed as she shot one of her purifying arrows alongside Kikyou. Their arrows merged and flew directly into the middle of Tetsusaigua's attack. With a blinding pink light, both attacks hit Naraku dead on. He had already lost the ability to protect himself with a barrier thanks to one of Kikyou's arrow. When the group could finally see again, all that there was left of where Naraku used to be was the tainted Shikon no Tama. Kagome caught it and brought it over to Kikyou to help her purify it. Kohaku immediately collapsed. As did Kouga.

“KOHAKU!” Sango cried.
“KOUGA!” Ayame cried.

“ Damn it Ayame, keep it down I-oomph!” Kouga was being suffocated by Ayame's bear *Ahem* Wolf hug.

“Oh Kouga, I thought…Oh never mind, you're ok! Oh I'm so happy!”

“Kohaku! Please Kohaku! Don't die on me! KOHAKU!”

“Move you pathetic excuse for a Taja-ya, he'll be fine as soon as you…Ah, what the hell, MOVE NOW WENCH!” Came a deep, demonic voice from behind her.

“Sesshoumaru!”

“Unless you want to bury the boy, I suggest you move this river over top of him, and move him a safe distance away from the corps of Naraku. Otherwise Tensaiga will revive him too.” Sesshoumaru stated coldly.

“Right. Sango come on, Kohaku will be fine. It's ok.” Kagome gently pried the Demon Exterminator off of her little brother's prone body.

“I swear Sesshoumaru; if you hurt him I'll kill you.” Sango threatened between sobs.

“Somehow, I'm not scared.” He answered as he swiped Tensaiga across the boy's motionless body, slaying the invisible hell demons sent to fetch him.

“Ugh. Wh-where am I? I- NEECHAN!” Kohaku shot up only a few minutes later.

“Kohaku! Oh Kohaku, I was so worried that I'd lost you! You're free Kohaku! You're free, we've slain Naraku!” Sango ran to her little brother and hugged him like no tomorrow.

“I have one question Sesshoumaru: why? Why'd you save Sango's brother?” Kagome asked hesitantly.

To answer Kagome's question, Sesshoumaru merely pointed down to the base of his tail. There stood little Rin-chan, with her eyes shut, as if willing the sight of Naraku's corps to go away along with everything else. She opened her eyes and said “Rin-chan asked Sesshoumaru-sama if he could help Rin-chan's friend Kohaku. Rin-chan didn't like to see him get hurt.”

“Well that was very grown up of you Rin.” Kagome said as she patted Rin on the head. Rin beamed.

Well, let's go. I think you girls will want a bath ne?” InuYasha said as he grabbed Kagome and Kikyou and pushed them atop his back.

“Yeah, thanks InuYasha.” Kagome smiled, he had gotten a lot nicer since she'd met him.

“Yay! Now we don't have to worry about freaky guys in monkey pelts coming to kill us anymore!” Shippou joked as he leapt onto Kagome's shoulder. Everyone, even InuYasha, laughed at that as they set off towards Kaede's village.
