Chapter seven:Trust :
"How could you?! I never forgot you! I told you to leave! I could not forget you when you disappeared and that was a year ago!!" Inuyasha yelled.
Kagome grinned. "I don't listen to you. Your not my master!"
Naraku gave a wicked laugh. "Kagome, Finish him off with no mercy!"
Kagome sprung forward. She threw a punch at Inuyasha, but he caught her fist.
Inuyasha looked into Kagome's eyes. Her eyes weren't the same. They were pure black. Inuyasha held Kagome's fist in one hand. He twisted her to face the opposite way of him. He flexed his claws. His nails dug into Kagome's left shoulder.
Kagome pulled herself away from Inuyasha. She looked toward Naraku. She was waiting for an order.
Naraku was shocked. Inuyasha had just tried to set Kagome free of his control! "Kagome, come!" Naraku commanded.
Kagome looked around. Naraku had already gone to sleep in his room. Before Naraku went to sleep he had told Kagome to train in the 'prisoner's room'. He didn't shackle her. He most likely thought that she was under full control, but he was wrong!
Inuyasha sighed. He had his haori off. He'd tried to help Kagome, but it didn't work. He looked to the hut door. "Huh!?" Inuyasha gasped.
Kagome walked over to Inuyasha. "Inuyasha.. Please.. Remove the shard.." She pleaded.
Inuyasha stood. "Tell me... Why'd you betray me?" He growled out. He noticed that she was still an inch shorter than him.
"I... Naraku kidnapped me a year ago. He jammed a jewel shard in my left shoulder and whenever he says to do something.. With the shard in.. I have to." Kagome explained.
"He never made you do anything physical with him..Did he?" Inuyasha asked.
"Nope." Kagome replied. She was relieved that she didn't have to get close to Naraku when she was under control.
Inuyasha roughly pulled Kagome toward him. He began to dig his nails into her left shoulder. This made her whine. He looked down to her form. "Shh!! Do you want me to do this or not?" He murmered as his nails caught onto the shard within her. He withdrew the shard. "There." He whispered letting her go.
"Thanx." Kagome said gratefully.
"Keh! Whatever!"
Inuyasha was asleep. Kagome was sure of it. She crawled over to him and whispered his name in question.
Inuyasha yawned as he awoke. "Yeah? What?"
"I'm cold." Kagome answered as she looked to Inuyasha.
Inuyasha sighed and sat up tiredly. He looked over to Kagome. She was shaking. "Okay..You can ummm..." He paused He was to tired for this. He groaned and finished what he was saying, "Take my shirt.." He threw his shirt to her. He layed back.
Kagome put his shirt on. It was a little warmer, but she wasn't going to complain. "Thanks." She answered as she crawled back to where she was.
Inuyasha sat up. It was morning. He saw Kagome asleep. He rubbed his eyes. He was still tired. He stood, walked to the door, stepped out and looked around. He jumped into a near tree. He was going to watch for enemies. He also wanted to see if Kagome would run back to Naraku.
Kagome yawned. She decided to go out for fresh air and realized Inuyasha was not around. She was outside now and was looking around for Inuyasha. "Inuyasha!?" She called out. Kagome panicked. 'Where could he be?'
Inuyasha hopped down from the tree he'd been in. "I'm right here." He said. He had on his regular red haori and red hakami. He noticed Kagome was wearing her regular clothing. (an:school uniform,but blue)
Kagome smiled with relief. 'I'm glad to know he's o.k. and that I'm not alone!' Kagome happily thought.
"C'mon we're going to the next village.." Inuyasha said as he picked Kagome up.
'Wow..He didn't growl at me about how he has to carry me and he didn't make me walk!' Kagome thought as Inuyasha ran toward the village.
Inuyasha stopped in a forest. "We won't make it on time." Inuyasha plainly stated as he put Kagome down.
'It's only noon..And we still wouldn't make it to the village before nightfall..' Kagome pondered. "I'll go gather some herbs and food." She announced.
"Okay..I guess I'll get the firewood." Inuyasha said and headed off into the forest. Inuyasha sighed as he approached a tree and chopped it in half. 'This may take a while.' He thought to himself.
It wasn't until Inuyasha had gotten back to the camp site that he heard Kagome scream.
Kagome screamed at the top of her lungs. A youkai had her in it's grip. It looked as if it was a mix of youkais. The demon hissed.
"I'm going to make you my dinner.."It hissed.
Inuyasha approached with a snarl, "You put her down you bas**rd!"
The youkai threw Kagome back. "Oh..A hanyou..pathetic"
"Half is all I'll need to kick your butt!"
The youkai and Inuyasha began to throw fists. Inuyasha had almost disposed of the youkai when it turned and attacked Kagome! Usually an attack like that would leave a human souless. The youkai grinned.
Inuyasha was outraged! He yelled in fury and finished the youkai off. Inuyasha walked over to Kagome. He knelt down beside her looking at her wounds. They were serious wounds. "Kagome?" Inuyasha waited for a reply,but she seemed to be out.
Later that night was when Kagome finally opened her chocolatey eyes. "W-Where am I?" Kagome questioned herself.
"Your with me..And we're still in the forest." Inuyasha answered. He looked at Kagome with anxiety. "Are you okay?"
"I am in pain and feel sick.."Kagome answered weakly. She gave a weak and yet supportive smile.
"Ohhh..Well..Is there anything I can do?"Inuyasha kindly inquired,but maintaining his distance from her.
"You can...Tell me..Why.." Kagome paused as she held back tears,but began to sniffle. She burst into tears. She didn't want to cry infront of Inuyasha, but she couldn't help it.
"Why what? Tell me Kagome!" Inuyasha roughly grabbed her by th arm and turned her to face him when she turned. "Tell me, Kagome!"He growled.
"Why..Why don't you trust me!?" Kagome cried out.
Inuyasha stared at Kagome. "I...I...shh...Please don't.." He started,but Kagome interrupted him.
"I'm not like Kikyo! I don't want to be with Naraku! I want to be with my only friend..and that's..you." Kagom'e voice got quiter by the second.
Inuyasha let go of Kagome's arm. "I'm going to bed.." He sighed.
Kagome wiped her last tears away and thought 'Does he even care? Am I just a shard detector?' "Inuyasha..Where do I sleep?"Kagome asked in a hushed voice.
"Ummm...You can sleep on that side of the fire and I'll sleep on that side" Inuyasha pointed to opposite sides. He still didn't really trust her.
"Alright.." Kagome yawned heading to her side of the fire. Kagome layed down and fell asleep in an instant.
Inuyasha fell asleep easily and frowned at his dream. Kagome was pleading him to never forget her.
