Chapter nine: Keep Me Safe

Kagome looked up to InuYasha. `he looks...so peaceful' Kagome thought this as a blush stained her cheeks. She was in his warm bedding. That's when she remembered how InuYasha seemed to be having a nightemare and she'd just heard a distanced noise. She'd gotten freaked out and crawled over to InuYasha.
Kagome heard a growl and gasped when she saw a youkai sitting across from the fire. She knew she couldn't fight it off due to the fact that her bow and arrows were to far from her and by the time she got the weapon the youkai would be at her throat.
Kagome could only cling to InuYasha's shirt. She held her breathe until finally, the youkai left. The less fortunate part of the youkai leaving was that InuYasha awoke.
"Kagome? What are you doing? Let go of me." InuYasha growled.
"I'm sorry, InuYasha." Kagome apologized and continued, "A youkai came and I got..um..scared.."
"A youkai!? Did it have any jewel shards?" InuYasha asked as he shook Kagome.
'Does he care that we could've been attacked?' Kagome pondered and stood angrily prying InuYasha's grip away from her shoulder. She stormed away deeper into the woods. She finally came to a hault `A jewel shard coming from the right...Wait! The left too? Ugh from the front of me and behind me as well as right and left?' "I forgot my bow and my wounds aren't healed!" Kagome accidentily put her last thoughts into words.
Four youkais surrounded Kagome. "We are the demons of season and time." They claimed in unison.
'I could care less.' Kagome thought with a small grunt.
"I am crystal of winter. You have crossed our territory." Smirked a feminine youkai with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She wore a blue kimono with snowflakes for a pattern. She was the first Kagome had sensed.
"I'm sky of summer. You shall be punished for crossing us." Announced the girl that had blackish gray hair that was put into a high ponytail. She had red eyes with a red kimono that had flames up the side. She was the second Kagome had sensed.
"I am Caren of day. You've angered us." The third youkai Kagome sensed spoke up. She had own a sky blue kimono with clouds and a sun by the chest. This girl had amber eyes and raven black hair that was to short to do anything with.
"I'm Alex of night. You'll be destroyed with no mercy." The last demon Kagome stated. This youkai was a male. He wore a black yukata. He had pointed ears with short black hair that fell in his eyes often. He had gleaming blackish red eyes.
Kagome raised an eyebrow, but fell back with a gasp when all of the youkais attacked at once. Her fall made the four miss.
"Let me take her on." Crystal pleaed, but didn't wait for an answer she pounced on Kagome "I'm gonna freeze you over!" Crystal yelled.
Kagome noticed the jewel shard within Crystal's forehead. Kagome pushed Crystal off, grabbed a stick and bashed Crystal with it. She took advantage of the moment and pushed her hands forward to the shard. The shard was within Kagome's hands now. She looked down to see a small pile of snow that melted. `So, they die after the jewel shard is removed?'
The three youkais looked at each other. They didn't look happy. (a/n: Not at all) Alex let a smirk dance upon his lips. "I am the only boy in this family.. I shall make her our new sibling." He stated.
"You just can't claim me with words!" Kagome yelled.
Alex pinned Kagome to the ground. He grabbed her shoulders and leaned in trying to kiss her.
"W-what are you doing let me go!!" Kagome shouted at the top of her lungs, but Alex didn't free her. Kagome turned her head to keep her first kiss. "INUYASHA!" Kagome shouted out.
InuYasha appeared by Caren. "What the hell is going on!?"
"InuYasha, once you remove their shards they disenegrate. They all hold the jewel within their foreheads." About then Kagome realized that Alex's jewel was in his throat. ' I may have to do some acting.' Kagome pondered.
Caren and Sky smirked. Caren spoke up, "I'll take him."
Sky watched her sister battle. She crossed her arms. "Get him! C'mon Caren you can do it!" Sky cheered.
InuYasha punched at Caren. He didn't really like the idea of hitting a girl,but he'd have to. He reached for her forehead, but she jumped back and sent a fire around InuYasha. 'So, they use elemental powers?'
Caren smirked. "Your such a stubborn hanyou."
InuYasha let a vibrating, low growl out. "I'll kill you!" He yelled and jumped out of the ring of fire and slashed at Caren's forehead. The jewel went flying out, but InuYasha caught it. A small fire glew and blew out. InuYasha looked at Sky.

Kagome saw that Alex's attention was on the fighting. She clung to hi shirt.
"I see that you've given in." Alex gave a cocky smirk. He felt Kagome's smooth and small hands raising to the shard in his back. "You'll be punished! Keep her in an orb that absorbs her energy. Let it be dark and lonesome." Alex chanted as a dark orb engulfed Kagome.
InuYasha walked toward Alex. "Your the last one." InuYasha smirked. "Wait a minute..Where is Kagome!?" He yelled.
"Don't worry she is within that orb." Alex pointed to the orb.
"I'll just remove that jewel shard within your forehead!" InuYasha exclaimed.
"Hmmm....You may have gotten to destroy my sisters that way, but my jewel fragment is somewhere else." Alex explained.
InuYasha let a growl rumble through his throat. 'I need Kagome.' He thought and toward the orb continually slashing at the orb. Nothing happened. InuYasha pulled out his sword, Tetsuiga. He attacked the orb and broke it. He spped into it. "Kagome! Kagome!" InuYasha yelled as he searched for Kagome. He saw a small figure and ran at full speed to it. He skid to a stop.
"The..Shard is in his...ba..ck.." Kagome said in a pained voice. She looked into InuYasha's ambery eyes with her chocolate ones. "Defeat him...for me." She breathlessly requested this and her world went black due to fainting.
InuYasha picked Kagome up in bride style and put her by a tree after leaving the strange orb. He walked toward Alex. This was going to be so much fun. To know he'd pained Kagome would make InuYasha fight harder.

Kagome opened her eyes and took in view of her surroundings. She looked confused especially since the last thing she recalled was telling InuYasha where the jewel fragment was within Alex. Then she recalled cold, blackness. She looked at the night sky. She finally noticed InuYasha on the other side of the warm fire. She slowly crawled over to him. "InuYasha, please...Keep me safe." Kagome pleaed in a whisper.
InuYasha looked down at Kagome. "Are you okay?" He inquired.
"I'm cold, but I guess that's all." Kagome replied.
InuYasha couldn't help, but hug Kagome. "I'm sorry.. If only I'd gotten there sooner." InuYasha apologized.
"InuYasha?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I sleep right here tonight?" Kagome quietly asked.
InuYasha sighed."I don't care do whatever you want." He answered her question.
"Good night." Kagome softly murmered.
InuYasha looked down at Kagome's peaceful face. She was smiling. He remembered the first time he laid eyes upon her.He then recalled his nightemare. She'd died in it because of him. His embrace tightened around her. "I'll protect you.." He stated and drifted into a slumber.
