Disclaimer: If I can’t own Inuyasha I’ll just go work for him! Japan here I come!!!
This chapter consists of a series of flash backs here you will finally understand Toshi’s motives and why Inuyasha and his family is so strong. On another note I have never heard Inuyasha’s father referred as anything but his title, Inu no Tashio. I hear that he is called Toga but until I hear or see that on anything officially produced by Rumiko Takahashi that confirms or denies this, I call him Inu no Tashio or Tashio for short. Anyway enjoy this no Inuyasha and the gang in this chapter!
“My daughter will never be the bride of a mononoke!” Kouji yelled out. Kouji the Father of Kaoru and the most powerful Lord in the lands. His family was pure human though they had power even stronger than any Youkai. It was said that they were to be the only humans to ever receive this power at birth. Their Family maintained peace between humans and Youkai. Kouji wanted his family to remain pure, Kaoru was to marry the son of a powerful priest. Although Kouji’s blood would be diluted his descendant would still be very powerful. A messenger knelt before Kouji.
“I apologize Lord Kouji, but Master Tsutomo informed me that I couldn’t return without Princess Kaoru.” The quiet messenger resembled a small dog. He had small brown eyes and was covered in yellow fur. The dog demon kept his tail under his butt in fear of Kouji’s wrath. Although Kouji had the power of one hundred Daiyoukai, and he could wield the most powerful youkai weapons ever created. He had a strong prejudice against them. If even a youkai looked at a human the wrong way he would kill them without mercy. The messenger had good reason to be afraid.
“I do not wish to hear anymore.” Kouji said angrily. “My daughter will not bear that hideous dog’s child.” Kouji motioned for the Messenger to leave. But the messenger did not move. He imagined his Master looking down at him with his large red eyes and dripping fangs. Whatever Tsutomo did to him would be much worse than anything Kouji could think to do.
“I’m sorry M’Lord my orders are to take the Princess to Tsutomo’s Castle.” Kouji narrowed his eyes.
“You would die for that beast.” Kouji growled.
“Yes M’Lord.” The Messenger bowed.
“Hmm,” Kouji muttered. “I will not give my Daughter to Tsutomo. You will stay and watch over my Kaoru.
“But M’Lord...” The Messenger pleaded.
“Your loyalties now lie with my daughter. Do you understand?” Kouji roared. The messenger lowered his head, at least within the castle he would be safe from Tsutomo’s wrath.
One year had past since Tsutomo has sent for his bride. It was obvious his messenger had betrayed him. Tsutomo knew a attack directly against the castle would be fruitless for Kouji was much to powerful. The Yukino Family was promised to merge with the Tashio family by their ancestors, but Kouji prejudice had destroyed that vow. Now it was war.
Kaoru sat in the garden with her newborn son. The messenger that came to retrieve her sat beside them, he didn’t have a name until Kaoru gave him one, Youta. Kaoru looked down at her son. He wasn’t what she expected, he had a strange aura about him, and Kaoru feared her husband had not been completely honest with her family.
“Youta?” Kaoru called.
“Yes Princess?”
“Does this child seem strange to you.”
Youta didn’t want to say anything but when the child was born, he sensed a powerful youki coming from him. He wondered why the Yukino Family could not sense it. “My Lady I believe this child to be hanyou.” Youta flinched, although Kaoru was nothing but kind to him, Youta was afraid that calling her child half Youkai would cause her to become extremely angry. But she didn’t.
“This child was not supposed to be.” Kaoru thought of her husband and how he died in battle. She never did like him, or his spider scar on his back, he always gave her a bad feeling. Who knew he was a mononoke that was able to hide his youki. “What of Tsutomo, would he have been kind to me?” Kaoru didn’t have the same feelings toward youkai as her father did and she was more than willing to honor her ancestors vow. They must have made it for a reason.
“Princess, is there something wrong.” During the year Youta had come accustomed to Kaoru’s body language and facial expressions, Youta had come to love the sweet Kaoru and he would do anything for her.
Kaoru smiled sadly as she looked down at her sleeping child. “Youta, help me fulfill my Family’s vow.” Kaoru said softly.

Youta used his invisibility powers to sneak off the grounds in the dead of night, a precious bundle he held close to his chest, shifted and grunted.
“Take this child into the night and end it’s unholy life.” Youta could hear the princess’s voice echo in his mind. Youta knew it hurt Kaoru to part with her child. But she sensed a strong evil growing inside it. Youta looked into the child’s eyes as he walked to a misty pond. The boy smiled as did Youta. Here would be the place he would complete his mission. Gently he placed the child in the water, Youta could see the face of the baby as it frowned looking for air. Youta’s heart began to ache and he quickly pulled the child out of the water. He didn’t want to disobey the Princess but he couldn’t imagine ending the life of this innocent child. Youta bundled the child in his own yellow cloth and disappeared into the woods. Youta ran for miles trying to figure out what to do. Finally he rested at a village, where the village headsman offered him a place to stay.
“I’m sorry I cannot stay.” Youta said softly. He held the child close.
“Where did you get that child Mononoke?” The headsman probed.
Youta couldn’t tell the truth, it would surely get back to Kouji, and Kaoru would be angry with him for not killing the child. “I saved it from a group of youkai, they killed his parents and was about to eat him.” Youta lied. The wife of the headsman took the baby in her arms and cried.
“Please forgive her, we recently lost our son to illness.” The headsman sighed.
“Well, this must be the will of the gods, for I cannot keep this child and you have lost yours.” Youta smiled. The headsman and his wife thanked Youta and cried as he headed on his way leaving the baby at the village. It was many miles from Kouji’s castle so the odds of the Lord and Princess crossing paths with that child again was slim. Now for phase two.

Kaoru sat in the darkness of her room, gently she wiped tears from her eyes. It was be morning soon and Youta still had not returned. She held a bundle in her arms, in it was clothes and herbs, she was to go to Tsutomo that night but she needed the aid of Youta’s abilities. Just as she was about to give up, Youta brightened her night as he jumped through her window, empty handed.
“Youta,” Kaoru whispered. “I was growing worried.” Kaoru hugged the dog demon tightly. “I thought you were caught by father or some mononoke.” Youta sighed, he didn’t want to lie to the princess but saw no other way.
“I’m sorry Lady Kaoru, I wanted to take him far from this place.” Youta couldn’t look her in the eyes.
“Youta, have you disobeyed me.” Kaoru asked gently. She had the feeling little Youta didn’t have the heart the kill an infant.
“I’m Sorry Lady Kaoru.” Youta lowered his head in shame. Kaoru knelt besides her friend to kiss his cheek. She didn’t really want her child to die, and she didn’t want Youta living with the guilt of killing a defenseless child. Youta smiled he loved Kaoru and was happy she approved.

The sun barely peaked over the horizon when Kaoru and Youta slipped away from the castle grounds and torwards Tsutomo’s territory. Kaoru looked back at her Father’s castle once more. He would come looking for her if her masking spell did not work. The dolls were especially made for that moment, a mother, a child and their servant. Kaoru wasn’t one to exercise her abilities so giving the dolls their appearances took a lot out of her. She would miss her home though.

Tsutomo paced in the grand hall of his castle, he was more than angry, his red eyes now maroon with hate for the Yukino family. Tsutomo new if he sent his army into war it would be suicide. He slammed his might paw into the ground, growling. His beautiful white coat seemed to flicker and dance in the shadows of the rising sun. Tsutomo loathed the beginning of another day, a day his Family’s promise was shattered. Tsutomo turned quickly to the sound of a creaking door. Cautiously Youta peeked his head through the massive doors. Youta had barely taken a breath when Tsutomo towered over angrily.
“Infidel!” Tsutomo roared at the cowering Youta. “You dare show your face to me!”
“Stop!” A voice called out from the morning mist. Tsutomo peered through the haze as the beautiful fair skinned Princess Kaoru appeared before him.
“K-Kaoru.” Tsutomo said his voice much softer. Kaoru stepped closer her beautiful jet black hair fell and acted as a train that swept gently on the fallen leave. She had deep golden eyes, that filled Tsutomo’s angry heart with love. Tsutomo bent down to the Princess and he allowed her to gently stroked his muzzle with her silky hands.
“Tsutomo, I have come to fulfill our Families wishes.” Kaoru said as she wrapped her arms around the neck of the great dog demon. She wasn’t afraid of the mighty beast, but she was afraid of her Father’s wrath if he ever discovered the truth.
