Well, well that was a nice cliffhanger. If I do say so myself. What’s going to happen next I wonder?

“Kagome, Kagome? Wake up.” Kagome felt someone shaking her. The last thing she remembered was watching a live news broadcast, Toshi was preparing to attack, then nothing. Kagome slowly opened her eyes and saw the open sky. She realized that she was laying on a futon. Inuyasha was besides her.

“Inu...yasha?” Kagome said softly. “What just happened.” Kagome sat up and looked around in shock, they were in Kaede’s hut. “How did we get here in the feudal era, where is everyone!” Kagome asked frantically.

“Kagome, we aren’t in the feudal era, we are still on the shrine grounds.” Inuyasha said lowering his head, his bangs covering his eyes. “You’ve been unconscious for a while, Tokyo has been completely destroyed. The feudal era has merged with this time and Toshi disappeared.” Inuyasha explained. Kagome felt the tears slide down her cheeks.

“Is everyone okay,” Kagome asked with hopeful eyes.

“Yes, the shrine was completely destroyed because Yagi made the barrier smaller and stronger.” Inuyasha picked Kagome up and carried her out of the hut. Kagome saw her friends and Family and Family talking with the villagers of Kaede’s village. Some were gathering up the remains of her beloved home. Kaede was talking to Sango, who was holding Buyo, Rin was hugging her dear two-headed Dragon and crying. Sesshoumaru and Satsuki was sitting away from the villagers in silence. Kagome noticed the kitsune Yagi was floating slightly above ground, within a barrier. Her eyes were closed and she held open her scroll, which was glowing. Eri, Yuka and Houjou was talking with some of the local villagers. While Miroku, Shippou and the rest of her Family were helping some villagers pick up the pieces to her home. Kagome hid her face in Inuyasha’s hatori. Inuyasha took to the skies and finally stopped at the hill over looking Inuyasha’s forest and Kaede’s village. Kagome looked out in shock. It was true, familiar buildings were laying crumpled on the ground, plant life coming out from broken windows. The same fields she looked out on during her adventures in the Feudal Era, were now crossing the very streets she used to go to school everyday. Kagome didn’t even try to hold back the oncoming tears.

“How could he do this.” Kagome said softly. She soon realized that her sense of hearing and smell was extremely heightened. She could smell something coming, she looked at Inuyasha, he was looking in the direction of the scent. “You smell it too.” Inuyasha looked back at his mate and gasped. Kagome’s eyes were different, yellow with her remaining specks of brown. Two small fangs grew in her mouth, and she had claws.

“K-Kagome?” Inuyasha stuttered.

“Yo.” Kagura’s voice, came out from behind them. Inuyasha turned quickly, and began growling as he took hold of the hilt of tessagia. Kagome turned and was shocked to realize that she to was growling. “Well, well look at you.” Kagura said to Kagome. “You’ve really changed since I last saw you.” Kagome stopped growling and looked at Kagura confused.

“Kagura, what do you want.” Inuyasha interuppted.

“You want to know where Toshi is don’t you.” Kagura asked. She turned to see Sesshoumaru and Satsuki walking towards them. Kagura smiled sadly when she saw Sesshoumaru, she wished him all the happiness she felt he deserved. She turned back to Inuyasha. “When Toshi destroyed the land he passed out. Kanna said we hadn’t reached his full power yet.” Kagura explained.

“Why are you helping us, didn’t he bring you back from the dead.” Inuyasha growled.

“Kagura looked at the beautiful clouds in the sky. “I was free in death.” Kagura looked to Sesshoumaru. “I welcomed a new life, because I thought...” She trailed off when her eyes moved to Satsuki. “Anyway, the castle was destroyed in the attack, he is in a village far from here. In a place where there is only death. You may think that what he did was bad, but that is nothing compared to what he plans to do.” Kagura continued. “I cannot take you there, for I must be killed.”

“What. Why?” Kagome asked.

Kagura smiled. “It is the least I can do for your family. I know about the Tashio curse”

Toshi laid on the futon inside the hut. He was struggling to wake up.

‘My power, I need more power.’ He screamed to himself. ‘I will be stronger than my Brother!’ Toshi felt his heart beat stronger. When he began to regain consciousness, he heard a woman gently singing. Her voice was soft and hauntingly beautiful. Toshi struggled to open his eyes. He looked besides him to see a lovely, young woman sitting besides him with a bowl of water. Toshi was awe-struck by her beauty. She was tall and shapely. She was slightly pale with long, white hair. She had two pale, pink flowers in her hair. She had sad, brown eyes and wore a long pastel pink dress that matched the flowers. Her dress had a long sleeve on one side and no sleeve on the other, revealing an soft, fair shoulder, it had a long slit on the sleeved side, showing a beautiful thigh. She resembled a older Kanna in many ways. But her eyes said something different. They were the eyes of someone in love. The woman noticed that Toshi was awake and smiled exquisitely. Toshi wanted to speak, but he couldn’t find any words to describe the feelings that grew within. She took a cloth and placed it on his forehead. Toshi had never been touched so gently. He lifted his hand to hers. Soft and fragile. He opened his mouth to speak, but felt a pain in his chest and he shut his eyes. When he reopened them he found that the angelic woman was gone. He was holding the small, pale hand of Kanna.

“K-Kanna? That woman...where is she?” Toshi choked out.

“There is no woman here, My Lord.” Kanna held a bowl of water in her lap.

‘She was just a dream?’ Toshi said to himself. ‘But she was real.’ Toshi looked into Kanna’a dark and expressionless eyes. ‘Could she have been...’

“My Lord, Kagura has escaped.” Kanna said taking her hand from Toshi.

“Hmm, she intends to betray me.” Toshi smirked as he slowly stood. He noticed that his sword was by his side. He chuckled as he took the sword from his obi. “So, my powers haven’t weakened as much as I thought.” Toshi replaced the weapon. “We are going, Kanna.” Toshi left the hut and saw that the skies were dark. There were the dead bodies of villagers all around them. Kikyou and Kohaku was sitting on each side of the entrance. They stood when he and Kanna emerged. “Come it’s time to finish what we started.”

“Toshi is going to create a army from the spirits in hell. And invoke the powers of heaven to become immortal.” Kagura explained. “Once he does that you won’t be able to stop him.” Inuyasha and the others where intently listening. They had went to the village so everyone could hear what Kagura had to say. She looked to Sango. “Your Brother is not lost, I saw the look in his eyes. He is possessed by something strange. But I don’t know how to bring him back.”

“Kanna’s mirror,” Satsuki said. “Kanna brought Kohaku back by putting his tainted soul back in his body. Break the mirror, save Kohaku’s soul.”

“Will he die.” Sango softly asked.

“He is already dead. His soul will not find peace while it resides in that body.” Satsuki responded.

“What about Kikyou,” Inuyasha asked. “She was made of clay before, but when I struck her, she bled.”

Kagura answered his question. “She didn’t have a body, so Toshi made me kill a young priestess. He gave the body to Kikyou. When she took the body, it changed and resembled her own appearance.” Kagura explained. “But she is like a mindless zombie. Toshi says that the shikon no tama purged her soul of all her memories. She wasn’t powerful enough to change her fate.” After hearing this Inuyasha looked away.

“What about the Tashio curse, why do you have to die?” Kagome asked.

“Kanna told me of the curse the Yukino’s have on the Tashio’s.” Kagura began. “As long as a descendant of a Yukino is alive the curse can never be broken.”

“What does that have to do with you?” Miroku asked.

“I was born from Naraku and he was born from Onigumo, a Yukino.”

“So the Yukino line lives on within you.” Satsuki replied.

“Yes, if I die the Yukino curse will be broken.”

“What about Kanna?”

“Kanna wasn’t born of Naraku’s flesh, she doesn’t have a spider like I do. She is my older sister, so I’m not exactly sure of the details of her birth.”

“Kagura, you don’t have a soul...so where do you go when you die?” Kagome felt bad for the wind demon.

Kagura smiled sadly. “I go wherever the wind takes me.” She answered. “I have only one request, I wish for Sesshoumaru to take my life.” Kagura fidgeted with her fan. Satsuki looked up at her mate. He was looking towards the wind demon. Kagura stood and walked to the door. She looked back before exiting. “I’ll wait for you on the top of the hill.” Kagura said to Sesshoumaru, she looked back at the other members of the group. “Toshi is resting about day’s travel, just north of here.” Kagura gave them one last smile before disappearing out of the hut.

Satsuki still looked at Sesshoumaru. “Will you go?” She asked.

“She will die with honor.” Sesshoumaru said without looking at her. “I will give her that honor.”

“Poor Kagura, she’s actually going to die for a second time. I wonder why.” Sango said.

“Isn’t it obvious.” Inuyasha huffed. “You saw the way she was looking at Sesshoumaru. She loves him.”

Satsuki began to walk out of the hut. “Do as you please.” She said never pausing. Sesshoumaru didn’t try to stop her.

“Hmph, what’s with her.” Inuyasha snorted.

“She wanted to be the one to kill Kagura.” Sesshoumaru said.

“How come?” Kagome asked.

“A female inu youkai must protect her mark. If another female tried to become even a harem to her mate. It would be her responsibility to kill that competition.” Sesshoumaru explained.

“Wow,” Kagome said.

“You will have that responsibility now inu miko.” Sesshoumaru continued.

“Inu...miko?” Kagome repeated with a confused tone. Everyone looked at Kagome. They noticed the change in Kagome’s appearance and Miroku could sense a small amount of youki coming from her.

“Yes Kagome has youkai blood now.” Myouga bounced from Kirara’s fur.

“How?” Inuyasha asked.

“I notice that she carries your mark, Master Inuyasha.” Myouga pointed out. Inuyasha and Kagome both blushed. “Not much is known about hanyou’s and when they take a mate. But my guess is, to keep your youkai blood line strong you transferred some of your blood to Kagome when you marked her.” Myouga looked up at Kagome. “Maybe her strong emotions caused the transformation to finally become complete.” Sesshoumaru stood and walked out the hut. Everyone stayed in silence, each said their own small prayer for Kagura.

Sesshoumaru saw Satsuki waiting at the edge of the village. She was holding her sword. Sesshoumaru stopped and looked her in the eyes.

“Sesshoumaru, I must preserve my honor. If I can’t complete my duties in person, I will do it in spirit.” Satsuki took her sword out of the sheath and stuck it in the ground. She said nothing else and walked away. Sesshoumaru didn’t move for a while. Finally he pulled the sword from the ground and headed for the hill, where Kagura was waiting.

Kagura sensed Sesshoumaru’s presence behind her. She sat for a moment and twirled her feather between her fingers.

“When I was first born from Naraku all I could think of was the beautiful skies. Kagura said looking up at the skies she loved. “When he told me that he held my heart in his hands, I hated him. He deprived me of my skies. I wanted freedom to fly, to feel the wind in my face whenever I wanted. Then I met you, and I wanted freedom for another reason.” Kagura stood and turned to Sesshoumaru. She inched closer to him and placed her hands over his chest. Sesshoumaru remained still, he knew she wasn’t going to die in vain. “I don’t want to die with any regrets.” Sesshoumaru’s eyes grew wide when Kagura reached her head up and pressed her lips to his. Sesshoumaru looked her in the face. Her eyes were closed and tears were streaming from them. She didn’t even know that she could cry. Sesshoumaru closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around her pulling her deeper into their passionate kiss. Suddenly Kagura’s eyes shot open and she gasped out of the kiss. She backed away and looked down. Satsuki’s saruka blade jutted from a wound in her stomach. Sesshoumaru allowed Satsuki to keep her honor, while Kagura kept hers. He swallowed hard as he watched Kagura fall to her knees. Kagura looked into Sesshoumaru’s eyes and gave him a sad smile, her tears stopped flowing and she fell over dead. Sesshoumaru pulled saruka from Kagura’s life less body. Slowly her body turned to dust and blew away in the wind until all that was left was a single feather. Sesshoumaru picked up the feather and lifted his hand until that to was taken by the wind.

Sesshoumaru sat on the edge of the hill alone for a long while looking into the sky. Satsuki came up the hill and sat besides him. She didn’t look at him, she just rested her head on his shoulder. Sesshoumaru shifted his eyes to her.

“I will remain by your side always Sesshoumaru.” Satsuki said as she closed her eyes. “You will never be alone again.” Satsuki continued. Sesshoumaru gave the smallest smile without responding and looked back into the skies.

‘Thank you, Satsuki.’
