“After everything, this is how it ends Kagome?” breathed InuYasha. His voice was barely audible  as he stared deep into the brown eyes of his fiancée, soon to be ex. After almost 2 hours of fighting, yelling and cursing at the woman he shared his heart with, he was dog tired and ready to give up. Ready to let go...ready to give up what? Clearly there wasn't much to give up since she was able to do what she did, with whom she did it with.

“There's no way we really could have had something if she was willing to throw it all away that easily”

With tears cascading down her cheeks, Kagome watched the various emotions cross her hanyou's eyes, despair, pain, rage, and finally exhaustion. Knowing that this would be her absolute last chance to make everything right, she shook her head furiously and tried to get the love of her life to understand why what happened today did in fact happen, and how they could save everything.

“No, no, no Yasha, NO!” she shouted as she grabbed hold of his left arm as he made to turn away from her. The ease she experienced in twisting the 6'4 220 lb man with her 5'6 125 lb frame only proved to her how utterly broken the situation, her decisions, had left him. Through a series of sobs and shrieks directed straight to his heart she reminded him that despite all that had happened over the past year, that he was her heart and she wanted nothing more than to marry him next Saturday under the stars.

They had been planning it for over a year. They chose to exchange vows at night as a way to commemorate their initial meeting. The colors, plates, and flower arrangements had been decided on months before. Being the typical guy, InuYasha didn't care much about the napkins, and he entrusted her to pick out whatever she wanted. But even with his limited involvement, planning the wedding had brought them so much closer together, and she just knew that they would live happily ever after. Until today, when he showed up during their wedding rehearsal, and everything came crashing down.

With her head embedded in his chest she told him, “Baby, I love you, do you hear that, I love you so much it hurts.” Lifting her face to meet his own, she looked straight into those sunset eyes she adored so much and said, “There was never anyone else, there will never be anyone else. I know I messed up, I messed up really badly. I know I hurt you baby, but I am sorry. I am so, so, so extremely sorry. But I love you, and you love me. I know that we can work this out together...”

But before she could finish InuYasha pushed her away from him. The exhaustion that had clouded the sparkle in his eyes was replace by a raging fire that had her seeking comfort from the cold she knew would follow.

“TOGETHER, TOGETHER, you talk to me about working stuff out together, you and me as a team, TOGETHER!!! You must be out of your motherfucking mind, because we have never actually done anything together. Since the beginning, it’s been Kagome doing whatever the fuck she feels like, whenever she fucking feels like, and the lovesick puppy following at her heals. I have never asked much of you Kagome, but I damn sure gave you my all. And you told me, you told me that it was enough, that I was enough. But it wasn't was it? I wasn't was I? You just needed to know, needed to do everything. And now, look at where we are TOGETHER. Arguing and fighting trying to delay the inevitable, but I'm not putting it off any longer. We're over Kagome. Get the fuck out my house. I'll have Miroku come over and get your shit because I can't even stand the smell of you anymore.”

Walking with hard heavy steps to the door, InuYasha ripped open the door and held it open for...for whom? He didn't even know anymore. He had just learned early that day that the woman he thought he had loved, the woman he thought was worthy enough to be his mate, the mother of his pups, his everything had been someone else, had been with someone else for the good part of a year. Right then he had no idea who this bitch was, but he did know that she had to get the fuck out of his house.

With an impatient sigh InuYasha snarled “I'm waiting, what do you need a text message, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE YOU CHEATING BITCH!!!”

Realizing that all was lost, with her head down and the proverbial tail between her legs, Kagome crossed the threshold to the penthouse that had been her home for the last two years without a second glance. Fearing the possibility that she might come across some nosy strangers while taking the 28 flight ride back to the lobby, she robotically made her way to the rarely used staircase to start her trek back. Back where?

This was her home, InuYasha was her home. Where could she go now? She knew that once Miroku got the full story as to what went down, he wouldn't allow her best friend Sango to let her stay with them. Not that she would expect Sango to want her to stay since InuYasha was like a brother to her as well. When Sango found out the extent of Kagome's betrayal, she might completely write her off too. Then what would she do?

With a depressed sob Kagome sat on the top stair of the twenty-second flight. “When did I walk down so far? I guess time flies when your world is crumbling.” Defeated, Kagome placed her head in her lap with a loud sigh and tried to think about where she could lay her head this late at night. She had no money, since InuYasha had been her sole source of income while she finished up her last year of her MBA program, but now they were over she didn't know what to do, who she could turn to.

Suddenly an idea hit her and she shot up with a new found fervor, at least for the night. “After everything that has happened, I know that he will take me in, he just has to.”



Alrighty, that's it for now. I left a nice cliffy for the next chapter where we'll be able to understand just what Kagome did and with whom she did it with. I know this was short, but I never realized how long it actually takes to write a chapter. I'll try to make all of the subsequent chapters much longer.
