InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 43 ( Chapter 43 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
*Hanyou*
"Where are we Red?" Yashi asked. The hanyou leader shook his head.
"I haven't a clue." Red scanned his surrounding, seeing little but a bright barrier all around them. "I don't know why we're here either." Just then, Red saw two people enter teh barrier. One was a male dog-demon and the other was a human female. They were holding hands.
"Who is your leader? We want to speak with him." The male yelled, effectively silencing everyone. Red stepped forward, barely having to push his way through the crowd. They parted for him. He walked right up to the male.
"I am leader." He said evenly. He sniffed, just enough to take note of what the two smelled like. To his surprise, he detected a human scent from the male as well. "You're hanyou!" Red said, not even realizing it.
"Yes, he is..... some of the time at least!" the female laughed. "My name's Kagome. This is Inuyasha." Red looekd at Inuyasha in surprise.
"Son of the former Lord of the Western Lands, Nuihasay?" Red bowed. "I did not know that you still lived."
"Of course I do. It'll take more then Sesshomaru or Naraku to kill me." Inuyasha grumbled. Kagome squeezed his hand.
"What do you want of us?" Red asked, a suspicious note creeping into his voice.
"Just to make peace with the humans and youkai-" Kagome began, but there was an upraor, much like the one the humnas had.
"No way!"
"They both hate us!"
"Are you both crazy!?" Inuyasha held up a hand. Red motioned for his people to be silent.
"That's impossible." Red said after silence fell. "Youkai would try to kill us all- it wouldn't take many of them- and teh humans would go out in hunting parties, like they do already." Red growled.
"That's why we wnat you to make peace with them. If you don't, they you'll be killed off. Peace is your only hope. Pick someone to form the peace treaty with teh youkai and humans. If you don't then just stay there." Inuyasha turned to leave. Red caught his sleeve.
"I'm leader. I'll come with you." he said. 'Am I doing the right thing? What if we do get killed anyway? Something though....... something tells me to go along.' Red followed Inuyasha and Kagoem outside the barrier. All taht was left was the youkai.
*Youkai*
"Who are you?" A youkai asked Koga. Koga sighed.
"Who is your leader?" Koga asked. The youkai looked down hsi nose at the pair.
"That is not your business. If-"
"Bring him here." That voice wasn't Koga's, or Kaguras. It was Sesshomarus.
"Did you not hear me? Bring them here." Sesshomaru flexed his claws. The lesser youkai hurried to comply.
"I remember you." Sesshomaru said to Koga, still flexing his claws, his face stotic. Koga nodded. "And I remember you as well." Sesshomaru said, turning to Kagura. She nodded as well.
"I would be surprised if you didn't." Kagura said.
"Why are you here, and where haven you taken me?" Sesshomaru asked.
"We summouned you and the other youkai. We want you to establish peace between humans, hanyou, and youkai, like yourself." Sesshomaru's face betrayed nothing.
"Why do you wnat this Sesshomaru to listen to you?" Koga looked him right in teh eye.
"You should know. Who got sick and you tried to get help for her?" Sesshomaru's eyes stayed the same, his face just as stotic, but he was thinking.
'Rin.' His ice king exterior melted slightly- just enough for Koga to detect teh slight change, but then he became icy again.
"How do you propose this?' Sesshomaru asked softly.
"We want someone with all the youkai's ineterests at heart to meet with a human and a hanyou to discuss a treaty. Will you come?" Koga asked.
"I will accompany you out of curiosity." The youkai nearby looked at him, flabbergasted. Sesshomaru was the strongest of them all, so they respected him. If he was a mountain, they were oaks on his surface. Someone as strong as Sesshomaru was actually agreeing to this folly?
"Sesshomaru......."
"....did you hear? He agreed......"
"...... peace treaties with THEM?" Sesshomaru ignored the whispers. He followed Koga and Kagura out of teh barrier.
*Meeting*
"We all know why we're here, so let's just cut to teh chase." Inuyasha said standing up. "We want everyone to be joined in peace. Name the conditions under which you will join together peacefully and we'll try to work something out."
"Why?" Kazui asked. "What exactly are you? I want an explanation! I was sitting in my throne room and suddenly I'm transported here! Wherever here is. You want us to amke peace? I demand an explanation first!"
"I agree with Kazui, Inuyasha." Miroku said. "We owe these people an explanation."
"So do I." Red said.
"I do too, little brother." Sesshomaru said. "I see that your aura has changed. You no longer wear Tetsusagia." Inuyasha sighed.
"Okay. We deafeated someone and now we're the rulers of teh land. Is that enough of an explanation? Can we move on?" Inuyasha sked irritably.
"Explanation?" Red asked, shaking his head. "That just confused me." Inuyasha was about to open his mouth to answer, but Kagome beat him to it, explaining everything.
"Now, why do you wnat us to make peace by ourselves? Couldn't you just order us to?" Kazui asked, once the explanation was over. Koga's expression darkened.
"That wouldn't work. Same ending, just a few years late. Say what everyone wants. We'll try a compromise."
"My people will want no attack from hanyous or youkai on our villages, and help from the youkai and hanyou if a village is." Kazui said immediantly.
"Youkai wish not to be bothered by silly human problems and hanyou ones." Sesshomaru said.
"Hanyous want to be able to walk in the sun and not be hurt or killed or looked at disgustadly by humans or youkai." Red added. "And hanyous don't attack humans."
"But....... I thought you did........ I heard about some fellow, 'Inuyasha' or something attacking a demon-slayer village......."
"Umm........ actually, Inuyasha didn't attack my village, it was another half-demon, named Naraku. Naraku is dead now, has been for about two years." Sango said.
"Oh." Kazui replied.
"I believe that the other demons will be able to refrain from attacking this vermin." Sesshomaru said. "Some might even take some of their precious time off to assist when needed." Koga nodded. He had expected this. Everyone else was shocked. Koga cleared it up for all but Kazui and Red.
"Remember Rin?" It dawned on them then. They nodded. Seeing teh confused looks on Red's and Kazui's faces, they explained.
"Rin is a human girl that Sesshomaru brought back to life." Kagura explained.
"She follows him now, and Inuyasha is his younger half-brother." Shippo said.
"A human?" Red said. "I never thought that I'd see the day when humans willingly trailed after youkai."
"I didn't either." Kazui said. Sesshomaru's face remained stotic.
"What does Rin have to do with any of this?" he asked coldly.
"She's the main reason you're here now." Koga pointed out. "She's the reason you're willing to agree with us for the peace treaties."
"Do we all agree?" Inuyasha asked. "Humans aren't attacked, and if they are, the youkais and hanyous help kill the renegade. Hanyous can walk around without being attacked, and youkai don't attack anyone. Got it?" Everyone nodded.
"Sign this then." Nari came up behind them.
"What is it?" Kagoem asked.
"It's a spelled paper. If everyone signs it with their own blood, everyone form that persons family or group is honor-bound to obey the agreement or agreements listed. I had Kohaku write everything out. The paper will include all youkai, humans, and hanyous if Red, Kazui, and Sesshomaru write their names in their blood. It's terribly ancient, so that's why its so barbaric." Kazui looked green but agreed to sign. Red and Sesshomaru had no complaints. All three of them signed, their cuts healing quickly and signitures drying fast.
"It's done." Koga said. "You are now all honor-bound to protect what's on that paper. Go tell your people. If any of them break the paper's laws, then you know what that means." Everyone nodded, though Sesshomaru still managed to look like it was beneath him. If they broke their honor, they would have to die.
"I am finished here." Sesshomaru said, walking out teh door. Red followed behind him, and Kazui after that.
"I'm glad that's over." Kagome sighed.
"So am I, but are you prepared for what comes next?" the Miko asked.
