Prologue

 

 

When 16-year-old Kagome Higurashi arrived at her apartment building, early one Monday afternoon, she knew something was wrong. Going into the underground parking lot she immediately takes notice of the fact that her fathers car was not there. She took the elevator up to the third floor, unlocked the first door she came to then called out.

 

“Dad?”

 

With no response she walks into the kitchen, sets her stuff on the counter, and then calmly checks the answer machine. There where three messages, the first was from her school saying she did not make it to her last three classes. The second was from her mother asking if they could come over sometime during the summer, and the last was from her dad.

 

“Hey, Kagome, I know your worried … but … uh … I had to stay late at the office, I'll be home by 3 … 3:30 at the latest, I promise…Bye.”

 

Sighing in relief she glanced at the clock, it was 2 o' clock. She had time for a bath and start lunch before she had to go pick up Shippou.

 

 

Stepping out of the bathroom fully dressed she checked the time before heading into the kitchen; she had twenty minutes to start lunch before leaving. Opening the pantry she took out four packs of chicken flavored ramen and a medium size pot. Filling the pot half way, she opened all four packs then just as she was turning on the stove there was a knock on the door.

 

Glancing though the peephole she saw two uniformed officers. “Yes” she said opening the door as much as the chain would allow.

 

“Ms. Higurashi can we come in and talk?” the younger of the two said and a low, soothing voice.

 

“What about?” she asked now a little panicked at the tone of voice he chose to use. But she did open the door to allow the two officers entrance.

 

“Ms. Higurashi it's about your father. It appears he was in a car accident around 1:30 this afternoon.”

 

“OH MY GOD, is he okay?”

 

“We tried to reach you at school, but were told you already left. I'm sorry to have to tell you this but he was pronounced died at the scene.”

 

A/N: So how was it this is my first fanfic; please review I need feedback. And to those how have already read this story I change the ages and some of the dialogue so let me know what you think of the changes
