Title:Night's Candles

Summary:After almost four years, the group is still searching for shards of the Shikon no Tama. Kagome goes home to find out old friends of her parents are visiting. Kagome meets their son who catches her attention. Kagome always questions her feelings towards Inuyasha, but can this new guy in her life change her them?

Chapter One: Aisoku

I thought when I would fall in love with the one,

I will be loved back.

I longed for myself to be the happiest I ever been.

I wanted the greatest feeling in the world.

But in reality, it isn't.

The feeling of loneliness,

Shoots an arrow through my heart

And into my despairing soul.

The heart of mine longs to be loved by you and only you.

I can't help but care for you more each passing day.

Can I move on without you?

It seems impossible because I always end up thinking about you,

"D-demo Inuyasha!"

A stressful sigh can be heard coming from Kagome. She is standing with her hands on her hips as she looks down at Inuyasha who is in his 'Inuyasha-shaped' crater. As you can already guess she is trying to go home, but Inuyasha wouldn't agree… at all!

He is impossible!She only wanted to go home for three days! It wasn't even long compared to other times she went home for a week.

Kagome faces to the still cursing hanyou muttering on the ground. She waits for the spell to end and once it was, let's just say his vocabulary is colorful. All she can hear coming out of his muttering mouth was… "Baka wench" --and-- "Why does she need to go to her dumb world?"

"Look Inuyasha, I'm only asking for three days." Kagome tries to explain again.

"Keh!"

"Fine!" Kagome groaned.

"Keh!"

Is this the only reply I'll ever get from him?!Kagome had enough; she turns toward the well hastily. Giving up on him, she shouts her frustrations to the heavens. She proceeds to walk to her destination--the bone eaters well. She is about to jump into the well with her backpack. But before leaving, she shouts a little 'good-bye gift' to Inuyasha. She hears the achievement of her gift when she felt the ground tremble. A wide smirk can be seen crossing through time.

Kagome struggles out of the well with her backpack. Climbing out, she lets out a sigh of relief. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to come back to take her last of her finals. Her school year was closing to an end, and summer break would come. All she had to worry about in the summer was collecting the Shikon shards and how to handle her next school year. But, what Inuyasha didn't know is she would take a three month leave on school.

What he won't know wouldn't hurt him. If he ever found out about the vacation, she knew she wouldn't be able to go home for quite awhile. She was lucky she could stop Inuyasha from making her stay in Sengoku Jidai. Why can't we just agree about me coming home instead of all this shouting? She couldn't believe another year has passed since been with Shippou, Kaede, Miroku, Sango and... Inuyasha.

After roughly two years, her feelings for Inuyasha still hadn't changed. Kagome is astonished to find her feelings didn't fade away like she desired… Instead it grew stronger as months and years passed. She thought it was a crush… puppy love… But she knew better than that. Now after the years, she still hid the feelings from Inuyasha and he's still the same arrogant, rude, and stubborn hanyou she loves.

Suddenly Kagome clenched her head with her right hand as a ripple of pain swims in her head. Oh, Kami-sama. Now I have a headache. Just great! She starts pacing out of the well house and into her front porch. Kagome is about to get her key from her pocket when she notices the door slightly ajar. Hmm... Wonder if mom knows the door is open? With another sudden wave of pain, Kagome grabbed her throbbing head. Got to get a pill quickly!

With her mind set on getting a remedy, she swings the front door open and is greeted by an unfamiliar face... a cute unknown face.

It was a guy.

An attractive one too, She thought.

He seems to be a teen-aged boy. Probably the same age as her. His body was lean, but also slightly muscular for Kagome could see muscles hidden under his shirt. He was dressed casually with faded blue jeans and a gray shirt with a black Chinese symbol on it. He was perhaps as tall as Inuyasha… maybe even taller. He had dark hair, ebony, like the midnightsky. His hair fell straight and loose before touching his ears. He had bangs barely covering his eyes, but not enough to cover the brightness of them. His eyes were green, but not light nor too dark. His face was masculine yet delicate like reminding everyone around that he is still a teenager. He has an expression of surprise… or was it shock?

"Kagome, I see you've met Kisho Satoya."

Kagome thoughts of the unknown boy drift away as she recognizes her mama's voice. She looks behind him to spotting her mother, "Eh?"

Kagome's mother smiles at Kagome's blank stare. "We have visitors today," indicating to the boy in front of her.

"Oh!" Kagome turns to Satoya Kisho and bows politely. "Nice to meet you; I'm Kagome Higurashi."

Kisho smiled back and replies with a bow. "As Higurashi-sama said I'm Kisho Satoya. It's nice to finally meet you."

Kagome couldn't help herself from smiling back at his alluring grin.

"Well if you excuse me, I have to get my parents stuff from the car." Kagome moves out of the way to let him through.

Mother and daughter watch him till he disappears down the steps of the shrine. Kagome turns to her mother who is smirking at her knowingly. Kagome replies with a grin. Looking at each other, they suddenly bust out in a giggle together.

Mrs. Higurashi greets her daughter with a warm embrace. "Come inside Kagome; you can meet his parents."

Kagome nods and enters her house with her mama when she suddenly wonders about her headache that mysteriously disappeared.
