Night Time XIV

Sango was so embarrassed that she couldn't even look at Inuyasha anymore; she could hardly speak to Kagome or Miroku either. That incident on the mountain where she threw herself at Inuyasha, telling him to dump both Kagome and Miroku so they could fight and defeat Naraku themselves… it was chewing her soul inside and out and then back again.

She fell back as the group headed back to Kaede's village. Kagome was flaming mad at Inuyasha for being an asshole and not push away Sango when he had the chance. She refused to talk to Sango as well. Miroku was angry too, jealous of Inuyasha for having the opportunity to feel Sango so close.

"It is all my fault… I should not be with them at all.."she thought bitterly and wiped away a few tears that escaped their bonds behind her thick eye lashes. The only one who hadn't said anything harsh to her about the whole thing was the only one that should have some scolding, but Inuyasha remained silent. She saw him sometime look at her oddly and she couldn't help but blush, which of course was noticed by Kagome and Inuyasha ended up eating dirt and Sango got a death glare. "Kagome-chan… you should not take this out on Inuyasha, because it is me you should pound to the ground." thought Sango and she stopped walking. Her trustworthy companion stopped as well and jumped into her arms, nuzzling her to give her mistress some comfort.

- Thank you Kirara-chan, I don't know how much longer I can take this, cried Sango now that she was out of sight of the others.

- You shouldn't do this to your self Sango, said a voice behind Sango and she turned around on the spot and saw Inuyasha standing there.

The sudden softness in his voice shocked her and her eyes widened but she nodded.

- She'll come to her senses…

- Sango, give it a rest. Ignore them until they get their minds back on track again, said Inuyasha. - Sometimes they just have to face that we feel things that they never thought we could feel.

- What things Inuyasha… What things??

She saw him turn red in the face and he bolted off, leaving a stunned taijya behind, even more confused than before. She found a tree stump and sat down with Kirara in her lap and she cried, not knowing what to do or believe anymore. Inuyasha had been acting very strange too. It was three days since she hugged him, and they had been in a few battles after that. And the hanyou had been acting very protective around her, making sure she was ok all the time. Guess how much that tipped off a certain miko from the future, not to mention the dark glares Miroku sent them both. "This is not good, not good at all. What ever shall I do?" thought Sango and wiped the next flood of tears away.

Inuyasha was not very far from the taijya. Walking with Kagome and Miroku right now almost equalled suicide and he had a little bit more to do in life he decided and stayed behind with Sango and Kirara. He was worried about her. Sango was hurting, and she was hurting to the point where her heart bleeds with open wounds. His mind wandered back and he remembered the hug she gave him. That had made something inside him snap, or rather, all the pieces of a complicated puzzle just came together and formed a perfect balance. It had never been Kikyo and it had never been Kagome that was destined for him - it was Sango. At first he had been caught off guard and when he tried to gently push her away from him he ended up hugging her back. But before he nuzzled his face into her neck, accepting her as his mate he found his logical mind and he untangled her hugging body from him and then… baaam - he chewed dirt, again and again and again and again. Damn, Kagome went on a drunken rampage with her subduing spell that day. But the tingling sensation of having Sango's strong body so close it wouldn't leave him alone. It was all he could think about and it was all he wanted to feel again. As they encountered a few low life demons he was always at her side, making sure that she didn't got hurt. And after the battle… baaam - he was right back where he started, his face smacked to the ground. And now Sango was crying because she felt guilty about what happened and that was the thing that really hurt Inuyasha. Kagome's sitting was nothing compared to what Sango's tears did to him. "Sango, how am I suppose to tell you that I love you? That I want you as my wife? Would you understand me? Will you ever love me back?" he cursed darkly when he felt his own tears drop down onto his hands and he snarled and swallowed hard and jumped down from the tree he was hiding in when he saw Sango was on the move again. She seemed so very lonely and he decided that he didn't care what Kagome and Miroku thought. For the first time in his hanyou life he was certain on his feelings and he wouldn't deny them, never. He loved Sango and he was going to stand for what he believed in and felt. They could say what ever they wanted, he didn't care.

Sango swallowed a sob when she saw Inuyasha come running towards her. He began walking next to her and soon she felt his clawed hand take hold of hers and squeezing it gently. She looked at him, confused at his actions but he held his eyes towards the horizon. But it felt good in her tormented soul and she accepted his little gesture of comfort. They walked next to each other with their heads held high. They hadn't done anything wrong, not really. They had just found a new level of understanding, yes, that was it.. The other two just had to understand that.

- Thank you Inuyasha, whispered Sango softly.

- Keh! came the instant reply but she could see the smile that tug the corner of his lips.

"I like you too Inuyasha…"she blushed as a shy lily but the sparkle in her eyes would not be denied.

Two days later all hell broke loose. They encountered Naraku and his minions and a huge battle took place near the magic well. Miroku managed to push Kagome into the well just before Naraku blasted it with his tentacles, destroying it for all time to come. The magic well was no more, Kagome was not going to return - ever and that was final. Sango cried and launched against the evil Naraku, her huge youkai bone cut through layer after layer of deadly tentacles and Miroku sucked them into his wind tunnel, making sure that the bastard wouldn't regenerate himself again. But it was Inuyasha that made the last and final attack that ensured their victory. But Naraku had one last card on his hand, he sent Kohaku to attack his sister. Sango, unable to fight her brother, just defending herself, but in the end she was hurt, badly. And when Inuyasha saw this he turned full demon and shredded Naraku to small pieces until there was nothing left of him. Before Miroku's wind tunnel disappeared from his hand he managed to suck up the last pieces of the evil asshole and the jewel lay on the ground. The monk picked it up and was a bit surprised to see it become purified in his palm. That was something he never would understand. He gave it to Kikyo whom had appeared right after Kagome had been pushed into the well. She nodded and walked over to the unconscious boy Kohaku and removed with out making a flinch, his shard. Kohaku was dead. Then she looked at Inuyasha, his blood red eyes was glowing as he rushed over to the fallen Sango and he picked her up, very gently considering his state. It was then both Miroku and Kikyo knew - Inuyasha had found a mate. He was never going to hurt Sango, it did not matter that he was in full demon mode, his demon side recognized the taijya as his mate and now he was running away from the battle field, leaving one hentai houshi and a walking clay pot to ponder what to do next.

Inuyasha carried his precious cargo far away from the battle field; he sniffed her neck before he went to lick her cheek when she whimpered in her unconscious state. He was acting on instincts now, raw and pure instinct. He found an abandon house and he went inside. He sniffed around to make sure that it was safe. He placed Sango on the floor and ripped her suit open. He needed to find her wounds. The blood scent was making him even more mad. He had not been able to protect his mate from being hurt, he had failed her. "Sango…" her name echoed through his blood crazed mind. He found five long gashes on her back and he lowered his head and began licking the wounds. Her injuries began to heal up, his saliva saw to that. When he was sure that she wouldn't bleed to death he removed his red haori and dressed her in it. He lay down behind her and scooted her close to his chest, embracing her warmly.

- My mate, he purred darkly into her hair.

He closed his eyes, made a last sweep with his keen hearing to make sure that they wouldn't be disturbed or attacked while they were sleeping. He wanted to claim her fully, but it was going to have to wait since she was hurt.

Sango awoke several hours later; her body ached with sublime pain. Her mouth was dry and she wanted some water. As her eyes opened she saw that she was inside an unknown house. She tried to remember what had happen before she lost consciousness, and tears welled up. "Kohaku…" her little brother had attacked her and she couldn't do anything else than protect her, but he had been well trained and he ended up slashing her back with his weapon. "Kohaku…" she cried. But when she felt her body being cuddled closer into something warm she stiffened up and then she heard a purring sound. She realized that she didn't wear her own clothes; instead she had Inuyasha's red haori. What happened after she passed out?

- I-inuyasha?

- Sleep mate, he ordered her.

- B-but…

- You are injured mate, sleep, heal.

- Inuyasha, you are acting weird, she whispered and tried to look over her shoulder. - What happened?

He didn't answer her; he just tucked her closer in his arms. She could see his claws and they were a lot longer than usual, which only could mean one thing. He was in full demon mode, but she was still alive… Why? She should be dead. She frowned but decided it was best not to question him while he was overtaken by his demonic blood. "Mate..? - Sleep, he repeated.

Sango swallowed hard and tried to relax. It was a bit hard, knowing that you had a blood thirsty half demon spooning you against his chest. But her blood lost was making her tired and she closed her eyes and it didn't take her to long to fall asleep again.

Inuyasha could feel her fall asleep and once he knew she was lost to the world he removed his haori to look at her wounds. She was healing very well and he licked her again just to make sure. New skin had already formed on most parts of the gashes and if he looked after them, they would not scar her back. But her other scars he could see and it hurt his soul to know that he wasn't able to take them away as well. She was strong, she battled and killed demons for a living, she was human, she didn't have the ability to heal as well as him, but in the future he was going to make sure that she never scarred again. He dressed her again once he was satisfied with his cleaning.

Almost a whole day passed before Sango awoke again. Just before she really had awakened she nuzzled her face into something warm and she wished that she could purr in content. Then reality came back to her and she bolted up but was gently but firmly pushed back down. And before she could open her mouth and say anything Inuyasha kissed her. She could feel his clawed hand on her cheek, caressing her face. His lips were soft and she could feel his lengthened fangs nip her lower lip. Sango thought she was going to loose her mind when she felt his tongue lave over her back. At first she thought it might sting, but in reality it felt very good, soothing. She closed her eyes and enjoyed his ministrations. Sango shivered when she heard him say that. She wanted to be his, but her mind was still plagued with guilty thoughts. And as if Inuyasha read her mind he moved her to sit in his lap.

- She can not hurt you again Sango, the well is destroyed.

- She was jealous Sango, and it clouded her mind to the brink of madness. And we can not decide the ones our hearts chooses to love. I love you, and I will always be with you.

Sango cried and for every word he said she released a tear. Her hands moved up and cupped his face, those magenta streaks on his face dimmed away as he spoke, his red eyes reverted back to those amber orbs that she had come to love so much.

- What happened on that mountain? Was there somebody that put a spell over us Inuyasha? asked Sango as she moved closer to kiss him lightly.

- No Sango, what happened was something that was destined to happen. We just haven't got the moment to figure things out until then. Do you want to be with me Sango, will you be with me always..?
