Sango froze in fear, her heart hammering in her chest in alarm and the from the lingering arousal. His eyes were closed and he was still kissing her, licking and sucking at her lower lip while his hands sought flesh. He was teasing her nipple with his fingers, pinching and tugging gently at the nub while the other had somehow managed to remove her green outer skirt and part her pink kimono. She attempted to slide out from beneath him, but he shifted his body as well, laying fully on top of her. His erection pressed against her throbbing core through the fabric of his hakama, and Sango bit back a moan. 'This is wrong' she thought 'I'm sure he's asleep... he doesn't know what he's doing..' Breaking the kiss she turned her head to the side, and his wandering lips explored the delicate line of her jaw.
deep burning ache filled her body, and she couldn't help but feel guilty over being this aroused. This was her friend, and her best friends husband! She had no right to be here like this with him, even if it was accidental. 'When he comes to his senses, he's going to be mortified.' she thought grimly. She pushed against his chest with her hands, trying to lift him off of her. 'Maybe if I get him off of me without waking him I can just sneak away, and he won't have to know.' She prayed that it would work, as the poor man would be devastated over his actions. 'Besides, I really don't want to have to deal with the discussion that would follow him waking up to this." She couldn't deny, however, the small part of her that demanded she let him finish what he started.
Yasha wrapped his arms around her and held her close in response. Apparently, he didn't want her going anywhere. Sango debated smacking him around until he awoke, much in the manner she used to wake the hentai monk when he would grope her in his sleep. The man above her buried his face in her neck, and ceased his sensual touches. She felt his warm lips brush against the skin of her exposed neck, and his barely audible voice reached her ears. Sango strained to hear the whispered plea that he kept repeating against her skin. "Kagome.... don't leave me."
eyes widened with realization, knowing now why he was acting the way he was. He was no longer touching her so intimately, but holding onto her the way he had earlier in the evening. She still felt terribly awkward, as she was laying beneath him with her kimono completely open. She tried to pull away again, but the strength of his grip told her she wasn't going anywhere any time soon. 'Damn... he's stronger in this form than I remembered.' She lay still for a few moments staring up at the ceiling, trying to come up with a course of action. Inu Yasha seemed to slip once again into deep slumber, and he relaxed on top of her. It wasn't long before the dead weight above her made her legs fall asleep and her breathing difficult. Sango struggled to lift her right shoulder and hip from the floor, using her hand as leverage. She hoped to roll him off of her, and her heart cried out with joy when he began to do so. The joy quickly vanished though, when his head hit the floor with a 'crack'. His eyes shot open and his body stiffened with tension. Sango hastily tried to tug her yukata closed, and succeeded in drawing the one thing she didn't want. Inu Yasha's attention.
awoke to a sharp pain on the back of his head, and opened his eyes. He found himself staring up at the ceiling of a room that wasn't his own, his back to the floor and his hardened member straining against his fundoshi. 'What the fuck...' he thought, trying desperately to remember how he had come to fall asleep in a room other than his own. The memories from hours earlier came racing back to him at the sound of a startled intake of breath and the rustling of fabric. Inu Yasha turned towards the source of the noise, his disorientation quickly replaced by fear when his gaze settled on the taijia. Her hair was wild and unkempt, framing an unusually pale face. She was propped up on an elbow, and her free hand was drawing her yukata closed. His face flushed the color of his fire rat robes when he made out the exposed curve of a breast and thigh in the dim light. His breath caught in his throat, and his violet orbs snapped back to her face.
"Sa..Sango..." His voice was shaky with fear, and Inu Yasha was unnerved when he heard a faint trace of need in it. Tiny teeth and kiss marks dotted the pale skin of her neck, and he could feel where moisture soaked through the crotch of his hakama that he prayed was his own. Her nervous eyes met his for a moment before she turned her body to sit facing away from him. 'I... I... no, I couldn't have' he argued with himself. His fingers dropped to the damp fabric of his hakama, touching the wetness briefly before holding them beneath his nose for a sniff. The tantalizing odor sent shockwaves down his body and into his erection. There was no mistaking that scent, even without his hanyou senses. Arousal, deep and alluring, and it certainly was not his own. His body betrayed his mind at the realization, and Inu Yasha berated himself for his lust.
in his human form, some of his hanyou needs and desires were strong. This time of year, his desire to bed a woman was disturbingly strong, and he was horrified to think that he had acted out on that basal impulse. To touch her in that manner without permission... it made him no better than his brother. He watched Sango's back for a few moments, praying she would break her silence. 'Yell at me, hit me, curse me... please do something!' He interpreted her lack of movement and communication as a desire to not see or speak with him, and he did not blame her for it. 'She must hate me....'cause right now I really hate myself.'
waited several minutes before trying to answer him. She didn't know how to begin... afraid that no matter what she said, she would upset him. He must think very little of her right now, and very little of himself. While she felt embarrassed that it had happened, Sango knew that he would take it much harder than she. 'He probably feels like he betrayed Kagome-chan... but it really wasn't his fault. It never would have happened if I had not tried to comfort him earlier. I've made such a mess of things..' Sango sighed and closed her eyes before turning to face him. "Inu Yasha.." she began. She opened her eyes to discover she was addressing an empty room.
slipped quietly into his bedroom and stripped himself of all clothing. 'I have to get her smell off of me' he thought, changing into his light sleeping yukata. He balled the fabric tainted with the scent of arousal and threw it violently into a far corner of his room, as if banishing his transgression from his soul. He paced the room, incapable of staying still for longer than a few seconds time. His arousal persistently lingered, demanding attention before it would wane. Reflexively his hand parted his yukata and wrapped around his erection, stroking the engorged flesh. 'No... I don't deserve it..' he thought, his hand dropping to his side. 'I don't deserve it after what I've done.' He shook his head, trying to clear his mind. He needed a cold bath, and some solitude in which to think. Yasha exited his room, heading towards the bath house. He turned a corner and collided with Sango, and only his fast reflexes kept them both from hitting the floor. He held her steady by the shoulders until she regained her balance, and attempted to walk around her towards the door. He felt a sharp tug at his hair, and he turned to face the taijia. Her expression was one of anger, and he stood before her, prepared to take the brunt of it. 'The shock must have worn off and now she wants to kill me..' he thought morosely. He watched as she dropped her hold on the thick rope of satiny black hair and made a fist, and he closed his eyes and clenched his jaw, waiting for her blow. When none came he cracked open one eye and stole a glance at her. She was visibly annoyed, but it was hardly the "run for the hills before she bludgeons you with hiraikotsu" angry that he expected. He relaxed and made full eye contact, hoping she would take it as her cue to voice her frustration.
glared at him for a few moments, her arms crossed over her chest in a defensive position and her right eyebrow twitching slightly. Sango reached forward and grabbed a fist full of the front of his yukata, tugging him towards her. Her face was just mere inches from his own before she hissed to him in a voice barely above a whisper. "You and I will talk. Now." He nodded his response, and followed her lead as she dragged him physically by his yukata towards her room. She slide the shoji open and pushed him inside, and when she closed the screen she remained facing away from him.
not.... I'm not mad at what happened.... it was an accident and we both know it. I am embarrassed by it, but not angry. Demo, for you to walk away from me like that without so much as a word.... that was simply deplorable." Her voice was quiet and controlled, and Inu Yasha was left with the impression that she continued to face away from him in an attempt to keep her anger in check. Her frame visibly trembled in the dim light of the room, and he cursed himself in a variety of ways for putting this emotional strain on her. He remained silent, unsure of where to start and unsure if she was done yet. Two years of married life taught him to wait until the woman said her piece, and then give his side. Unfortunately, Sango seemed to misinterpret his silence for something else. "Well? Say something, damnit! Do you despise me so much now that you can no longer speak to me?"
what gave you that idea... I don't despise you. I thought that you..." His sentence trailed off when he heard her begin to cry, and he again chastised himself for being such a bastard. "I thought that you didn't want me to... you were so quiet... and you wouldn't look at me.. I thought you wanted me gone. What I did.... you have every right to be angry. I touched you without permission, and that makes me no better than my asshole brother." He dropped his chin towards his chest, effectively obscuring his vision with his bangs. He heard Sango begin to pace the room, and continued to keep his line of sight focused on the floor in front of him. 'I don't deserve to look at her.... Hell, I don't deserve to be on the same continent as her. After all she's been through, what kind of friend am I to do that to her?' He heard Sango's footfalls some to a stop a few feet in front of him, and he paused his self-depreciating rant.
don't hate you. Like I said... it was an accident. Inu Yasha, have you ever slept beside a woman other than Kagome?" She watched his face flush in the dim light as he shook his head in the negative. "I didn't think so. You were calling her name, you know." His startled eyes met hers, and she watched his facial expressions shift rapidly as he processed that information. When his countenance became pained and withdrawn, Sango knew who his thoughts wandered to. "I told you before, she'll come back. She loves you too much to stay away indefinitely."
"Maybe... but I really fucked up this time... Kagome's furious with me. She thinks I don't desire her anymore... that I'm replacing her with you." He sat indian-style on the floor, his arms propped up on his knees and his face buried in his hands. "She's been pushing me away so much lately... and not just after you came here. Kagome won't let me become human for her, and I just know that it's my fault. I'm afraid she'll leave me after what I put her through..." His voice was hoarse with emotion, and Sango wondered what would make him want to become human after all this time.
"I don't understand... what is your fault?" she asked, kneeling in front of him. She listened as he took a few shaky breaths before continuing. She couldn't imagine what event or action would cause Kagome to pull away from her husband. They went through so much together during their journey for the kakera and Naraku that it was nearly impossible for her to comprehend the miko pulling away from the hanyou in front of her.
"We never told anyone... Shippou and Kaede know, but only because they were there the first time it happened. Kagome was pregnant twice before.... each time she miscarried before the fourth month." Sango's startled gasp resonated in his ears, and Inu Yasha felt guilt over not telling her sooner. In the end though, it was Kagome's decision whom they told. "The first time, I wasn't able to protect her in battle.... it was a really noxious smelling demon, and we both know how well I do against strong odors." He gave a dark chortle of laughter, and Sango recalled hearing about his encounter with the Hell Painter. "Kagome fired one of her purification arrows at it, and I guess her miko powers saw the youki of our child as a threat. The second time..." He paused again, taking another moment to collect himself. Sango watched as his gaze dropped to the floor and his frame began to tremble slightly. "The second time, we... we had just made love and she felt this pain in her stomach...." He was unable to stem the flow of tears with this admission, and was not surprised when Sango's arms wrapped him in yet another supportive embrace.
"She's been so distant since then, and she started getting depressed. It was my fault, I know it. If I wasn't hanyou, this wouldn't have happened. She even said 'no' when I asked her to become my life mate... something I was sure she would want. " He leaned his head on her shoulder, his heart easing slightly now that he said the most difficult part. The taijia made a mental note to discuss the "life mate" business with Kagome when she returned. Sango's knowledge of youkai and their customs included some of the marriage and mating practices, and she knew that what Kagome did by declining was tantamount to saying she did not love the hanyou completely.
"That's why when I learned she was pregnant this time, I got so adamant about you coming to stay with us. She needed a friend for support, and I needed help protecting her and the tama while she can't use her purification powers. But now I have to protect you both.... and the way I have to do it isn't fair to either of you." He observed her face, trying to gauge her reaction to that statement. "I love Kagome with all my heart, and I know she deserves my undivided attention after the Kikyo debacle. I can't turn my back on you either. You are one of my closest friends, one of the few people I've ever trusted completely."
stood and walked towards the window, lifting the corner of the blind and gazing out into the moonless night. She did not desire to have this conversation with him, but was certain that it had to be done. Inu Yasha was never this open or talkative any other night besides new moon, and he would only come after her later if she left without a word. "Why is our marrying the best solution? It's not fair to any of us, including you, Inu Yasha. Why can't we just hunt the bastard down and be done with it?"
"The healers from Kagome's time told her not to travel or strain herself too much physically during this pregnancy. If I went, she would insist on going with, and I can't put her or the baby at risk. There is always the chance that I will lose... with Naraku gone, my asshole half brother is one of the most powerful youkai in Nippon. If he were to defeat me, he would most likely kill Kagome and take you against your will. You would not even be free in death as long as he possesses Tenseiga." He paused, letting the impact of his words sink in. Sango was a proud woman, and taking her life to escape Sesshomaru would be an option the taijia probably considered. "If word got out that he tried to take another youkai's wife as his own, he would loose too much face. It's one thing to have your subjects fear you as Lord, but another to not have them respect you. There would be too much dissent among the noble youkai, and I'm sure we have a cousin or two that would be more than happy to overthrow his pompous ass if he stepped too far out of line."
"If we are married, I can perform a ritual to make the child you are carrying my own by youkai standards. Sesshomaru could not take the pup, and the ass wouldn't try and take you until the pup is weaned. The marriage wouldn't necessarily be forever, either. The first year is kind of a provisional period... you know, to make sure that the couple can get along. We would still be married, but after the year ended we can break the vows. The child would have to stay with me, though, for Sesshomaru to have no claim to it. You could stay here, safe and secure, and I wouldn't have to share your bed after the marriage is annulled. I don't want to have to protect you and the pup this way, but it's the best way to guarantee all of our safety. It's your decision, though. I will protect you, married or not."
"Why are you doing this for me, Inu Yasha? You have no reason to stand by me through this. You're putting yourself and your relationship with Kagome in danger, and I just don't understand why!" She spun to face him, only to find he had left his position on the floor and now stood only a foot away from her. 'How did he get so close without me hearing him?' She felt unnerved at the lack of distance between them as well as the serious look on his face. "You keep saying that I'm your friend, but that doesn't tell me why you are so adamant to do this. You could loose everything that you have, everything I know you have waited your entire life to find, just to.." She was cut short by his hand cupping her chin and his thumb pressing firmly against her lips, effectively silencing her.
"Do you remember the first time I transformed?" he asked. When she nodded her head, he continued. "I heard you and Miroku talking that night. I was some distance away, but hanyou hearing has it's benefits. Miroku was saying how he would be long gone when I would make my wish on the tama to become full demon." She nodded again, remembering the cool evening and the serious conversation with the houshi. Her eyes widened in surprise and nervousness when his hand left its position on its chin to tenderly stroke her cheek. "You said that you would stay with me, regardless of what I may become or the danger you would be in. You accepted me completely then, something only two other people had done in my lifetime. That number's grown a little over the years, but it meant more to me back then. If this happened to any other woman, I would not even consider it. Yours has been the second most important friendship to me in my life, even if we were never particularly close during the journey. I didn't know how to show my gratitude then, but I can do it now by protecting you ."
"Inu Yasha..." she whispered, blushing when she felt him wipe away the tears that started to fall down her cheeks. He would never love her as he did Kagome, but his words told her how much he loved her as a friend. Her gaze slipped from the infinite pools of amethyst to his lips for a second, but it was long enough for him to notice. His hand on her cheek slid around to the nape of her neck, tilting her face towards his. Inu Yasha took a small step forward and leaned in, somehow keeping his lips and body merely an inch from her own. He was not touching her save for his hand on the back of her neck, and her body ached in anticipation of more contact. Sango felt the incredible heat radiating off of his body and tried to still her heart as it hammered excitedly in her chest. He searched her face for any signs of fear or rejection, and when he was certain there was none, he closed his lips gently over her own.
bwa haha! how do I top the last cliffy? With another one! Oh ho ho ho ho! *dangles juicy lemon in front of her readers*

stood and walked towards the window, lifting the corner of the blind and gazing out into the moonless night.
