Nonexistent Fairy Tale
Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or any of the characters. This is the rewritten version of the story, Punks Are Better Than Preps, with more details, and an actual plot.
For a while, the group went on much as they did that day. The perverted man fit in instantly as though he had always been there. Even though the disgruntled female hated the wandering hands of their newest friend, she as well as the other two, learned to like him for who he was despite the little touching problem. The miko loved her friends unconditionally and was content with spending her time with them. The hanyou was satisfied with his life thus far. He had a best friend that was always there for him, a second best friend that helped keep him in check when his miko couldn’t, and now finally a male friend that he could relate to, err…sort of.
One night the friends happened to be staying the night at Kagome’s house. They loved her shrine for its warmth that radiated from it and tended to stay there, when none of them wanted to go out, or when they weren’t at Inuyasha’s house. Ms. Higurashi was always running around cleaning or baking. She treated all of them as if they were her own children, even though she already did have two of her own.
Now, Ms. Higurashi was a kindly widow with short black hair and chestnut brown eyes. She always seemed to have a delightful look upon her face. However, her eyes told a different story when you looked deep enough. When one looked deep enough, they could see the sorrow and grief she suffered after the loss of her husband. She had gone through a bout of depression after the death; nevertheless, she had merely shoved her feelings aside to care for her children. Now, she would do anything she could to make sure her daughter was happy and that she never lost the spark of bliss in her beautiful brown orbs like her mother had.
Kagome and Sango were laying on her twin bed trying to figure out what the two boys upon the floor wanted to do for the weekend to come. Kagome’s eyes drifted to the room around her. She stared at her simple pink walls that separated her from the outside world when a thought struck her.
“I’ve got it!” She shrieked, jumping up to further show that she had something to say. The other three occupants of the room were startled by the girl’s unexpected outburst and the looks of alarm and shock were apparent on their faces. She giggled and looked at her feet.
“How about a party?” The miko requested meekly.
“Kags! You’re clever.” The other female retorted, grinning. This caused the first girl’s face to redden.
“Yeah, Kagome, that’s a perfect idea!” Miroku nodded and looked at Inuyasha for his opinion.
“Where?” Was all the hanyou asked.
‘Gee, he doesn’t even say, “What a great idea!’, or ‘That’s why I like you! You always know just what to do!’ This isn’t like him…He usually has some smart-ass remark or a compliment…’ “Well…I was thinking at your house because it is a considerable amount larger than the rest of ours…” The girl pointed out earning a “Keh.” In response to her remark. She glared hard at the back of his head, causing his ears to twitch. She silently motioned for Sango to hand her the address book lying on her desk, never taking her intense stare off the aforementioned boy.
He could feel her stare on him and was getting a tad bit uncomfortable. He gradually turned around to face the full wrath. He pulled his best puppy face, which induced a giggle to force its way out of her mouth.
“Oh Inuyasha! You know I can’t stay mad at you when you do that!” She exclaimed throwing her arms in the air and taking the book, that were handed to her. “Okay…Now…Sango and I will set the house up, hopefully Sesshomaru doesn’t mind…Miroku and Inuyasha, you guys will be in charge of the beverages…Please don’t disappoint me!” She looked sternly at the two. “I will invite everyone!” The smile had returned to her face as she rushed to her computer to start working.
“Okay, what do you think of the invites? And, how about the people?” The miko questioned upon plopping down next to the hanyou on the couch and shoving papers in his face. He looked irritated for a moment before looking them over.
“Kouga!? You invited Kouga!” Now he looked infuriated. “You know I can’t stand that fucking wolf!”
“Calm down!” She patted his arm in a comforting way, “You know he’s my friend! I can’t just blow him off and say, ‘Sorry, but if my best friend is going to be a jealous ass you can’t come!’ now can I?” She asked with fire in her eyes.
He was about to respond, but he stopped to think about it… ‘Jealous? She called me jealous?’ “Well no, you would say, ‘sorry, my best friend is looking out for me and doesn’t want me to get hurt, so he says that you can’t come, goodbye.’” He said in an almost perfect mock of her voice. The uncanny alikeness in his mock-voice and her own freaked her out and she scooted further away from him on the couch.
“So…Besides Kouga everyone is fine. The party is on Friday, I assume?” He questioned quietly.
“Yeah…At nine…Don’t forget to tell Sesshomaru. However, I have to go; I’ll see you at school tomorrow. Bye!!” She promptly embraced him and made her way out of his home. He shook his head as he watched her leave, ‘I don’t know where that girl gets her determination and vigor…’
It was a beauteous Thursday morning and a girl awoke to the sound of a car speeding by. She grumbled and tiredly pulled herself out of bed. She glanced over at her alarm clock and looked stunned. She swore and jumped up to hastily get ready for school. She brushed out her long raven locks and threw on a shirt, some jeans, and socks. She grabbed her yellow school bag and her invitations and ran downstairs to put on her shoes, grab a bite to eat and head off. ‘It’s a good thing Souta stayed the night at Kohaku’s house!’ She thought mentally as she left.
Closer to school sat another girl almost indistinguishable from the previously mentioned girl. She sat in front of her vanity to revere her handiwork.
She wore no make-up and her brown, nearly black, orbs glistened with barren emptiness. Her long raven locks were pulled together at the nape of her slender neck, and fastened with a white ribbon. She had a look of stoic expression on her face. She had practiced until perfected. She was wearing a white blouse with long billowing sleeves and a long red billowing skirt. She was wearing socks and thong sandals.
She gazed at her reflection for a few more minutes before promptly leaving for school.
‘I vowed to get you back Inuyasha…And thus I will!’
At an apartment complex, not too far from the previous woman’s home sat another girl.
She had her brown hair in a bun and recently cut bangs were covering her forehead. Her ruby eyes stood out and brought out the natural reds of her hair. She was wearing a dress with one of the lengthy sleeves blue with lighter blue flowers and the other sleeve red and white striped. The striped sleeve happened to be on the left and the stripes extended to all the way to the bottom of her dress. She was wearing dangling emerald earrings and thong sandals.
Her best friend had told her that she had a plan. She was supposed to follow along and do everything she was told to do. She complied. She had always been extremely good at masking her emotions. This would come in handy now. She had to do as her best friend said and appear stoic at all times. She momentarily let her mask fall and let her true exhaustion show.
She sighed and went to see if her little sister was ready.
Her little sister appeared before her as she usually did. She was just as good at masking her emotions as her sister. Her shoulder length white hair had simple flower clips, one on each side, and she had on a simple short white dress with little bows here-and-there. She as well was wearing a small pair of white thong sandals. She was carrying a mirror and nodded to her sister to signal she was ready.
‘Kikyou…This better damn well be good for us to have to change who we appear to be…’
‘Why is sister so different?’
Kagome slumped into her chair. She had finished passing out her invitations just in time to be at her homeroom on time. Everyone had either complied or said they would call her and let her know what their parents said. She attempted to focus on what the teacher was lecturing but her mind kept wandering to what the party was going to be like.
See, I made Kikyou how she was at the beginning for a very important reason. She is no longer the slut I made her appear to be at the beginning. I have a much bigger role for her. Thank you, and please review. The exquisite Marissa edited this.
