Fairy Tale
Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Right now, I’m light in Nonexistent Fairy Tale, and Kagome’s Story, and deep into Do I Loathe Thee?. It’s not my fault…I go for whichever gets me the most reviews.
WARNING: Major scene with Kikyou, again.
Slowly she crept towards the slumbering man. With tears dripping down her face and mixing with the rain dripping off of her hair, she stood next to his bed.
“Naraku…” She whispered in his ear. With a start, he awoke.
“Kikyou?” He wiped at his eyes to better his vision. “Kikyou, what are you doing here?” He mumbled out before sitting up and stretching. She let the tears flow. His eyes widened. “What’s wrong?” Fore, you see, he did care for the woman, just because he was as cruel to her, as he was to others, did not mean he wasn’t in love with her.
“Oh, Naraku!” She flung herself at him. “It’s horrible!” She sobbed against his bare shoulder. He pulled her to him and patted her back comfortingly.
“What’s horrible, dear?” Okay, so he had his moments of lapse where he showed his true feelings for the girl.
“This…” He looked confused as she pulled away from him. His eyes widened in horror to what was in her hands. The light from the candle glinted off the warm steel. She had stowed the dagger in her boot. Now she planned to use it for forgiveness from Inuyasha and Kagome.
‘Please…Kami…Please forgive me for the sins I’m about to commit’ She plunged the dagger into the man’s throat and pulled it back out. She watched in horror as blood spurted from the wound. With tears falling as heavy as the rain outside, she plunged it in again and pulled the knife hastily across his neck. None of this before hearing his last words.
“Kikyou…I love…you…” The words rang out in her head as she watched the light fading from his deep eyes. She had never loved him in return…But he was the only man who loved her for the horrid wretch she was…And he had finally told her…Told her as she murdered him.
She looked up at the ceiling as she felt the warm blood running down her hands.
‘Please forgive me!! Please!!’ She stood up and wiped her bloodied hands on the bed sheets. She withdrew a slightly dampened piece of paper from her shirt. She set it next to the lit candle and picked up the phone. She dialed the number she knew by heart.
“Hello? Inuyasha? I know you probably want nothing to do with me…But I just want you, and Kagome to see me one last time…Come to Naraku’s…If you don’t know where it is, call and ask Kagura.” She hung up before receiving a response. Tears never ceasing fell down her face. Tears never ceasing to fall, she clutched the dagger tightly in her hand. Without a further thought she plunged the weapon into her chest.
Kagome stared at the sight before her eyes. Inuyasha stood beside her, seeing the same horror as she. He took her hand and squeezed it comfortingly. They saw the bloodied mess that was Naraku, and the same for what had been Kikyou. The two teens may have had a hate that ran deep for the two, but the sight of them dead…It killed them both inside. Kagome, who couldn’t get thoughts of her mother and grandfather out of her head as she looked upon the two, tried to remain brave. She looked to room over once more, ready to leave, before something caught her eye. It was a piece of paper next to a half-burned candle. She moved closer to investigate. It had her and Inuyasha’s names on it.
“Inuyasha…come look.” He looked to his girlfriend and to where she was looking. Quickly he snatched up the paper before using his cell phone to dial the cops.
“Listen, Kagome. I think we should leave before we read this letter…In case…I just have this gut feeling we don’t want to be here when the cops arrive. Besides…Look.” He pointed to Kikyou’s body. Not wanting to, Kagome looked. She saw another piece of paper in Kikyou’s grasp. She could plainly read the words, murder, suicide, and forgiveness. Nodding, she followed her hanyou out of the room, out of the house, and home.
Tears were falling down the girl’s cheeks as she handed the letter to the boy whose arms she was in. She cried softly into his shirt as he read the letter, feeling pain wretch at his heart, but remaining passive.
Kagome and Inuyasha,
As you have by now realized, I have killed myself, and Naraku. I did it for you. I know you both loathe me…But I wanted to make things right again. I wanted to make sure things were okay between you and me before I left this world. Kagome, you are safe now. Your threats in this world are gone. Naraku, the real source of all of your pain and suffering is gone. He was not a man, at least not one in my mind. He was a horrid beast who deserved what he got. He was going to kill you for the jewel you possess. Keep it safe, for me please. I did what I did to save you. I hope you forgive me.
Inuyasha, I truly did care for you. I was under Naraku’s power. I’m sorry for causing you pain. I never meant to hurt you. I did what I did for you as well. So you and Kagome can live together, forever, happily ever after.
To fairy tales, there’s always the bad guy. Yours is gone. Live in peace,
-Kikyou
They felt so horrible. How could they not forgive the girl? She killed the two threats that Kagome had against her. She saved her. She did what she had to make sure her enemy lived. That takes heart.
Without words, the two teens comforted each other. They just spent that night in each other’s consoling embraces.
Neither wanting to think about the fact that they had to face school the next day. Kagura. How would she look at them? Would she hate them?
Neither wanting to think about Kagome’s mother’s and grandfather’s funerals in two days. Then, soon to come, Kikyou’s and Naraku’s. Of course they would go. How could they not?
Now was such a depressing time.
‘My jewel? What’s so great about it?’ She twirled the jewel on its chain and stared at it. Wondering how such a small insignificant object could mean so much as to have someone want to kill her over it.
I know most of you don’t like Kikyou, and I don’t either…But just writing like that made me sad!! T.T
In the end, the bad guy always loses for the fairy tale to come true,
