Chapter 13: Feminine Bonding
Aoi's POV
Since our little encounter in Hana's chat room, she and I were really determined to get Kikyo back one way or another. We didn't know how yet but we would do it.
Anyway, the following Monday after school and work Hana called me with some very exciting news.
“Hey Aoi-chan!” Hana said happily.
“Hey chickadee! You sound kinda happy there...”
“Cuz I am. I just finished talking to Sessho-chan!”
“Ah…that's nice.”
“But that's not all…you like C-ute and Berryz, right?”
“Yeah sweetie, I mean we do like most of the same music.” I said kind of sarcastically.
“Yeah most, not all, that's why I had to ask.”
I rolled my eyes (not like she could see me), “Anyway…why do you ask?”
“Oh well Sessho-chan told me that he's treating Rin to a joint C-ute and Berryz concert that's coming up and asked if you and I wanted to go with her!”
I gasped and said “Really? Sweet! I've never been to one of their concerts.”
“Neither have I. So you want to come?”
“Heck yes! Sign me up!”
Hana laughed and said “This isn't a contest Aoi…”
“I know.”
“Anyway he said I could invite Sango and Kagome too so I'm about to call and see if they want to come.”
“Alright. Well I'll talk to you later! Ooooh, Massara Massara...” I started doing the `Massara Blue Jeans' dance, and then like a genius I let the phone fly out of my hands and it crashed into the wall. “Shit!”
I ran over to the wall to pick up the phone, “Hello? Hana?!”
“What the hell was that?” She asked.
“I was trying to do the `Massara Blue Jeans' dance and the phone kinda slipped out of my hands.”
“Oh wow...I'll talk to you later!”
“'Kay bye!” Click
When I hung up the phone I tried to work on my homework but I couldn't. I was too excited thinking about the upcoming concert. I started doing the dance to `Ookina Ai De Motenashite' out of the blue, when Aunt Risa came into my room unannounced, catching me in mid-pose.
“Aoi, what are you doing? You look like a duck!”
“Um, nothing! Just dancing that's all!” I said standing straight up.
She shook her head and left. I just shrugged my shoulders and continued dancing.
Hana's POV
After getting off the phone with Aoi I called Kagome first and then Sango. Kagome was more than happy to come; she said she needed some time to get away from Shippo and Souta ( her other brother) and she loved the two groups just as much as Aoi and I did, but Sango on the other hand said she didn't want to go. When I asked why she said they were too `cutesy' and `happy' and `pink'. I just shook my head and told her she'd be missing out. I was a bit disappointed though, I was looking forward to all the girls spending time together. Suddenly I got an idea. I asked Sango if she would be willing to come to a sleepover even if she wouldn't come to the concert with Aoi, Kagome, and me. She said that'd be cool. So then after getting off the phone with her I called Kagome and Aoi back to see what they thought of my sleepover idea. They both thought it'd be cool too and Aoi even volunteered to be the host (we actually ending up talking on three-way about it). So once these arrangements were settled I called Sesshomaru to let him know how many of us were going so he could get the tickets. Even though the concert was near and tickets were almost sold out, he was still able to get them because he had `connections'. When I brought up the sleepover I asked if Rin could stay with us too and he said he didn't care (even though technically he had to ask her foster mom but he said she wouldn't care either). So with the arrangements made I began to prepare for our little get together.
That following Saturday…
The day of the concert had finally come and of course I was excited. I had only been to one other concert in my entire lifetime and that was a Minimoni concert (which everybody knows, is for younger kids).
Well, when I was halfway done getting dressed (I was `dressing for the occasion' by wearing all pink) my cell phone rang. It was Aoi and she said she was on her way. So of course I began to get frantic and quickly finished getting dressed. The concert started at 6:00 PM (it was currently 4:30) but we had to leave a bit early so we wouldn't get caught in traffic and so we could get a good parking space.
When I was completely ready I heard the doorbell ring. I grabbed the tickets (Sesshomaru gave them to me on Wednesday) and my purse and ran downstairs. But when I opened the door I realized it wasn't Aoi. It was Sesshomaru and Rin. Rin immediately hugged me and said “Hi Hana-san!”
I bent down and hugged her back and said “Hey Rin-chan. How are you?”
“Fine! I can't wait to go to the concert!”
I smiled and said “I know I can't wait either!”
I then stood up and Sesshomaru suddenly grabbed me by my waist and kissed me. I kissed him back and Rin giggled as she watched. When we broke apart he smiled at me and said “Have fun.”
I nodded and said “Sure thing. It's kinda sad that you won't be joining us though...” I said drawing a fake tear down my face.
“Me? At a concert with a bunch of ten year old girls in bright pink and miniskirts? I don't think so...”
He then handed me Rin's bag, hugged her, and left. And just as he left, Aoi arrived. “Alright Rin, you ready?” I said.
She nodded and said “Yeah!”
“Alright then let's go!”
Aoi's POV
Before picking up Hana and Rin, I decided to pick up Kagome at her `crib'. She lived by a shrine so in order to get there I first had to climb a massive set of stairs, but once you get up there it's a nice, cutesy little single family home. I knocked on the door, and the response scared me.
“I'll get it!”
“No I'll get it!”
“Move, Shippo!”
“No you move!”
I heard bumping and scraping and banging, What in the world?! I thought
“Calm down you two, I'm opening the door!” I heard Kagome yell. Just then she did in fact open the door, with her two little brothers clinging on to either of her legs. “Hey Aoi!” she said.
“Hey sweet cheeks! You ready to go?!”
“Yeah, just about! Just let me get my coat...”
“Kagome where are you going?” Her brother, who I assumed was Souta, asked.
She sighed and said, “I already told you I'm going to a concert!”
“Ooh, is it a date? I didn't know you were lesbo!”
“What?! You are in the third grade, what do you know about...anyway, just go away Souta! Go play video games with Shippo!”
“Aw alright...” and with that Souta ran off to his world of violence and animated bloodshed. However Shippo decided to hang around, he wouldn't let go of Kagome.
“Kagome I wanna stay with you!” The little kitsune said rubbing his head of reddish-brown hair against Kagome's leg.
“I'll be back tomorrow Shippo! Besides you have your toys to play with! And Mom and Grandpa and Souta will be here so you won't be lonely!” she said trying to comfort him. At that moment, from further inside the Higurashi household we all heard Souta yelling something about someone getting their head chopped off in his videogame. Shippo then looked at Kagome with pleading eyes.
“Umm, it won't be as long as it seems, trust me!” She said patting him on his head. “Tell Mom that I'm leaving...” she said grabbing her stuff.
“Okay...” the still-nervous-looking Shippo said.
“Sayonara!” She closed the door behind her and sighed heavily. “Man Aoi, you should thank whatever holy being there is that you don't have any siblings...well...that you weren't adopted into a family that already had children.”
I laughed and said, “Yeah, after seeing all the stuff that Hana goes through with her brothers, how Sesshomaru and Inuyasha get along, and now you and your brothers, yeah I'm kinda happy that I didn't get any siblings besides Hana. I am kinda curious though.”
“No, you're really not!” Kagome said shaking her head. I couldn't help but laugh.
“Here, gimme your bags so I can put them in the trunk.”
“Okay...Aoi...”
“What's up?” I said while putting her bags in the back of my car.
“You're wearing a miniskirt again? It's December!”
I was in fact wearing a miniskirt. It was a really cute miniskirt too. It was bright pink with a cute little heart-chain belt.
“I like miniskirts! Is that so wrong?!”
“It is when you have a possibility of catching pneumonia from wearing them!”
After putting her bags away I closed the trunk and patted her on the shoulder. “Don't worry about me Kagome! Come on, let's go get these chicks...”
“Who?”
“Hana and Rin...who'd you think I was talking about?”
“Ohh...umm...I dunno.” She said slightly embarrassed. I sat down in the car and waited for Kagome to get in. But she just stood there looking at me as if she didn't know what to do. “The passenger seat won't eject you from the car; you can sit down in it, boo.” I said patting the passenger seat. “Oh, okay!” she said sitting down next to me.
This girl is so strange I thought as I drove off to Hana's house.
When I arrived at the Miyashita household, someone else was driving away from it really fast. So fast it almost gave me whiplash. “What in the world?!” I yelled. “Isn't it illegal to drive that fast?!”
Kagome shrugged her shoulders, “I think that was Sesshomaru that just drove away. The car looked pretty darn expensive...”
“Figures...” That showy son of a...
“Don't you finish that sentence!” Hana yelled at me pulling Rin along with her.
“Oh, hey twin!” I yelled back at her waving frantically.
Curious about Hana's outburst, Kagome leaned in closer to me and asked, “Um, all you said was `figures...' why did she tell you not to finish the sentence?”
“Um...I have no idea!” I said innocently as Hana and Rin jumped into the backseat.
“Hi, um, Lady! And um, Lady that looks like Hana-san!” Rin said to Kagome and me.
“Hey, cutie!” I said laughing, “My name is Aoi.”
“Uh-wee?” she said confused.
“Nu-uh, Aoi, kinda like how you pronounce your vowels...ahh-oo-ee...
“Aoi?”
“Yeah, there you go!” I said.
“Yay!”
I laughed again. “And this is Kagome.”
“Hi Kagome-san!” she said.
Kagome waved back at her and smiled.
“Well now that we're all acquainted let's get this road on the show!” Hana said pumping her fist in the air.
“Hana sit down...” Kagome said.
“Okay.”
Hana sat down and we were off to the concert.
We were driving for a while, when Rin piped up and asked me, “Aoi-san how long do you think it'll be `til we get there?”
“Um, I don't know...not too long.”
“Oh-okay...”
“Drive faster, slave...!” Hana yelled from the back of the car.
“You shut up, backseat driver!”
Hana's POV
When we finally got to the concert hall it was packed. Partly because there were only ten minutes until the show got started.
“Wow, there's so many people here!” Rin said.
“Yeah, I know. Hopefully we got a good seat!” I said, “Hold my hand Rin; we don't want you to disappear!”
“Yes ma'am!” she said grasping my hand as hard as she could. I pulled her along with me and Kagome until we found our seats at a spot very close to the stage.
“Wow, Sesshomaru-kun got really good tickets!” Kagome said.
“I know! I told you my boo has connections...” I said smugly. Just then I felt someone's hand brush against my backside. I figured that it was an accident until I felt the hand lingering there...
Pop!
I smacked some old, nasty-lookin' dude right in the face. He ran away like a little punk.
“Hana, what did you hit that guy for?!” Kagome exclaimed.
I rolled my eyes and said, “He was groping me!” I huffed and folded my arms over my chest. “Honestly, what are perverts doing at a C-ute and Berryz concert?”
“Are you kidding?” Aoi said. “Think about it Hana...
Oh God, here she goes...
“Two singing groups. Both of the singing groups are made up of adorable little girls no older than fifteen years old. These girls parade around in short little outfits and bright colors and shake their little booties on stage. Besides that, the general audience members are no older than fifteen themselves. You're seriously asking what a pervert would be doing here? Please, this is a pedophile's dream come true...'
I nodded in understanding. “Now that I think about it, that's kinda like what Sessho-chan said to me when I was talking to him about it.”
“Speaking of him, why didn't Mr. Man-Hotness join us on this lovely evening?” Aoi asked.
“Sesshomaru-sama said that he didn't want to go to a concert with a whole bunch of little girls.” Rin said.
Aoi laughed and said, “I see, I can just picture it now...Sesshomaru backed up into a little corner...No! Make them stop! The pink...the cuteness...it's all too much for me...get outta my head!!”
Aoi was now spinning around like an idiot holding her head like it was about to explode.
“Hey, it's about to start!” Kagome said as the lights dimmed down.
“Yay!” Rin said jumping up and down waving her little neon stick that we got her at the entrance.
“You ready to show these girls our mad dance skills, Hana?” Aoi said.
“Heck yes.” I said.
Lights flashed and smoke covered the stage as the girls appeared on stage. We heard the music for `Massara Blue Jeans' start up.
“MASSARA BURUU JIINZU!” Said Kanna of C-ute, introducing the song.
Ooooh, Ooooh, Massara Massara

“I'm mad you two know the whole dance to this song, though!” Kagome said to Aoi and me.

Ooooh, Ooooh, Massara Massara
After the song ended everyone applauded and whistled and cheered. Aoi and I of course, were the loudest.
Not too long after `Massara Blue Jeans' ended, C-ute performed `Ookina Ai De Motenashite'. Just like `Massara Blue Jeans', Aoi and I knew the whole dance to the song.
Ookina Ai De Motenashite

The song went on and my sister and I kept dancing throughout the whole song. When it was over they performed `Soku Dakishimete', `Wakkanai (Z)', and `Endless Love-I Love You More'. They even performed their latest single, `Sakura Chirari'.
Aoi's POV
After C-ute left the stage, there was a brief intermission before Berryz made their appearance. In that time, Kagome went off to buy t-shirts or something, and Rin stayed with us as Hana and I collapsed from the exhaustion of dancing so much.
“Are you two okay?” Rin asked with concern in her voice.
“Oh no, we're okay sweetie!” Hana said.
“Yeah, we've just been shaking our money-makers this whole time and it's worn us out!” I said with a deep breath.
“Oh,” Rin said matter-of-factly, “Ooh! Kitty ears!”
Huh? Hana and I thought. We looked up to see what Rin was talking about, and we saw Chiyo-chan above us smiling with her cat ears twitching.
“Hello little peoples!” She said with a grin.
“Chiyo-chaaan!” I said giving her a strangle hug along with Hana. I suppose Rin felt left out because she gave her a hug as well.
“I feel so loved it's just wonderful!” she said. “It's also wonderful to know that I am in fact not the only person over the age of sixteen who listens to C-ute and Berryz!”
“Hell no...! Don't repeat what I just said...” Hana said making sure she told Rin not to repeat her words.
“Anyway, yeah! As human beings...and catgirls...we have the right to listen to any type of music we want to listen to.” I said.
“True enough...” Chiyo said. At that moment Kagome had returned with shirts for everyone. As she was distributing them among the masses she noticed that Chiyo had found us.
“Hey, it's the catgirl!” she said.
“Meow!” Chiyo said twitching her ears. Rin giggled at the sight.
“Um `catgirl' has a name Kagome, her name is Chiyo…you know…the one that made our cake...” Hana said.
“I know who she is! I just forgot her name!” Kagome said. She then turned to Chiyo and bowed in apology.
Chiyo shook her head and said “It's okay. We haven't known each other long so I don't blame you for forgetting.”
Suddenly someone's cell phone rang with the ring tone `Crazy in Love'. It turned out to be Chiyo's. She picked it up and said in a flirtatious tone “Moshi moshi koi…”
Hana and I automatically figured it was Kazuya.
“I told you already! I'm at a C-ute and Berryz concert!”
Kazuya said something and then Chiyo sighed and said “Yes…I'll call you when it's over.”
Suddenly the lights dimmed and smoke appeared on the stage, as it did before as Berryz took the stage. “Look Berryz are on stage! I gotta go! Okay bye!”
Chiyo got off the phone and cheered with the rest of us as Berryz opened up with `Piriri to Yukou'.

After `Piriri to Yukou' the girls preceded with the songs `Very Beauty', `Special Generation', `Jiriri Kiteru', `Gag100 Kaibun Aishite Kudasai', and finally `Nanchuu Koi wo Yatteru You Know'. When Berryz finished their selections C-ute came back on stage and the two groups said a few words before their encore. When the concert was over, Hana asked Chiyo if she wanted to come over to my house (without even asking me, you see how she does me?). She said that she'd love to join us, so Hana gave her my address so she could go to her house and get her stuff and come back to mine.
Hana's POV
On the way to Aoi's house, Kagome, Rin, Aoi, and I talked about the concert.
“Oh that was so much fun!” Rin said.
I nodded and said “Yeah it was. I've got to remember to thank Sessho-chan again.”
Rin nodded and said “Me too!”
“Man I wish I knew those dances as well as you two do.” Kagome said with admiration.
“Well we can teach you if you want.” Aoi said.
“Me too?” Rin asked.
I nodded and said “Of course!”
“Yay!” Kagome and Rin said.
When we got to Aoi's house everyone unloaded their stuff out of the car. When we got in the house Aunt Risa was just leaving out to go to work.
“You know the rules,” she said before she left, “Don't open the door for strangers, don't break anything, no boys...”
“Oh darn...” I said. Everyone looked at me as if I had done something wrong. “I'm just kidding!”
Aunt Risa shook her head and continued on, “Just be good okay? Love ya!”
“Sayonara!” We all yelled as she walked out for good. When the door shut, Aoi let out a huge sigh.
“What's wrong, Aoi?” Kagome asked.
“Nothing,” she said looking at her nails, “I mean, I'm used to Aunt Risa working late at night by now but...sometimes it's kinda lonely being here by myself all the time...eating dinner alone.”
This made everyone sigh.
“Well, you're not gonna be by yourself tonight Aoi-san because you have all of us!” Rin said. “So cheer up!”
Aoi smiled at Rin and said, “You know what? You're right. Let's do this...thing!”
Aoi's POV
So after everyone got settled into their respective rooms we decided to delay no more time in starting our little sleepover. We debated for a moment on what we were going to do first, but eventually a match of janken (that's rock-paper-scissors) decided that we were to play Dance Dance Revolution while we waited for the pizza we ordered. Kagome and Hana went against each other first, both of them on standard mode. Kagome was good, but Hana ended up winning. Rin and I went against each other next; I put Rin on beginner mode while I played on heavy mode. Even on beginner mode Rin still had a little trouble keeping up with the steps but everyone was cheering her on so she was determined to keep going. She eventually lost, but since I didn't want her to get her feelings hurt I told her she earned a higher score than I did, which made her happy.
I heard the doorbell ring so I went downstairs to see who it was. It turned out to be both Chiyo and Sango. “What a coincidence that you two got here at the same time!” I said giving them each a hug.
Sango nodded and said “I know, right? With all that traffic though I didn't think I'd be able to make it here at all.”
I led the two upstairs only to have to go back downstairs when the bell rang again. Alright now I'm not going to be running up and down the stairs all night answering the door. I thought. Of course it was the pizza guy and after taking one whiff of it I almost ate it right out of box.
Foood.... I thought.
“C'mon ya'll! If ya'll don't want me to eat all this pizza ya'll better get down here now!” I yelled upstairs placing the pizza boxes on the table. In an instant all the girls ran downstairs in a manner quite similar to the stampede scene in `The Lion King'.
“Girl how many times are you going to say `ya'll'? You sound like you're from Osaka.” Hana said getting some plates and cups.
“No sweetie. This is `Osaka': I reckon ya'll bout to help round up the cattle.” I said putting emphasis on my accent.
Rin laughed and said “You sound funny Aoi-san!”
“Oh you think that's funny? Check this out...” Hana did her own little impression.
Back and forth Hana and I battled over who did the funniest impressions until everyone was laughing on the floor. After a few minutes Sango clutched her stomach and waved her hand and said “Girls please stop! I'm about to laugh my guts out and I haven't even eaten yet!”
“Oh sorry…” we said giggling.
After Hana distributed the plates and cups and food I helped her serve the beverages. Of course, Chiyo wanted milk, (`cat girl, duh!' she said when I made a comment). While we ate we watched `Spirited Away'. Most of us wanted to watch something that was a little bit more mature, but since Rin was present we had to watch something kid-friendly.
But when she's sleep we're breaking out the horror movies! I heard Hana think. Ju-On, Ringu, Jisatsu Saakuru, and of course Rinne...
Uh uh! You know I don't do horror movies! I thought, shaking my head.
You're such a scaredy cat…
Maybe, but I'll be a scaredy cat who doesn't have nightmares about girls coming out of wells...or jumping in front of bullet trains...
Hana's POV
When we were done eating and watching the movie we went back upstairs to play more DDR. But of course now that Chiyo and Sango were there we had more people to play. I told Aoi that before I met her Chiyo and I would play DDR together all the time. But like Aoi, Chiyo was always better then me. At first I thought her and Aoi were the only ones that could do heavy mode successfully but I found that I had thought wrong. Sango was also able to do heavy mode and she was so good she could do it with invisible arrows and both mats! When she did both mats we all watched in shock and disbelief.
“She's amazing!” Rin said.
“Man! I'll never be that good!” I whined.
“Sure you will. It's just like a sport…it takes practice, practice, practice!” Sango said.
After we got all exhausted from playing DDR, we decided to just chill out for a little bit.
“So, how was the concert?” Sango asked wiping the beads of sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand.
“It was great and just as I predicted-you missed out!” I said pointing my finger at her.
“Well I'm glad you guys had fun…but like I said I'm not into the `cutesy' and `pink' stuff.”
“You're weird Sango.” Kagome said shaking her head.
“Oh you're one to talk Kagome! At least when I was little I didn't think your mom's shoes were monsters!”
Aoi and I gasped and said “What?!”
“Hey I was five! Besides I had every right to be scared! Those shoes were big and pointy and red! How could any child not think that they were tengu?”
I laughed and patted Kagome on her shoulder. “It's okay. I used to be afraid of the dark.”
“Hana, everyone was afraid of the dark.” Chiyo said.
“Not me! I'm not scared!” Rin said proudly.
“Oh really…”Sango said with an evil look in her eyes. Suddenly she got up and turned off the light.
“What the-?! Sango!” Aoi said surprised.
We heard some feet patter out of the room and the next thing we knew the hallway and downstairs lights were turned off, making the entire house pitch black. Sango began to laugh menacingly. “Ku-kuku!”
“We're not scared Sango!” Kagome yelled.
We all stumbled out of the room, not bothering to turn the lights back on.
“We're going to find you Sango-san!” Rin yelled.
“You can try…” Sango said, still using her fake creepy voice.
“Alright, Chiyo and Kagome you check downstairs. Hana, Rin, and I will check up here.” Aoi said.
Everyone nodded and separated. Holding Rin's hand and sticking close to Aoi we all crept to her aunt's room. When we couldn't find her in there we went out. Suddenly somebody behind me screamed, which made me scream. I then felt somebody hit me upside the head with a pillow. I figured it was Sango and before she could escape I grabbed one of her ankles and she fell. “Gotcha!” I said.
Aoi was about to grab her arms when suddenly she began tickling her. Aoi laughed and Sango struggled away from me and ran downstairs.
“She's heading your way Chiyo and Kagome!” I yelled downstairs.
As Rin, Aoi, and I ran downstairs we heard a series of screams, laughs, pattering feet, and the `whooshing' of a pillow being swung. The rest of us grabbed our own pillows and headed downstairs and the next thing we knew a huge pillow fight had broke out. Chiyo and Kagome had grabbed pillows of the couch and were participating too.
“Calm down you all,” Aoi said, “you heard what Aunt Risa said about breaking stuff and I don't wanna get in trouble so...”
“Girl you better lighten up!” I said hitting her with a pillow.
“Oh no you didn't-!”
Between swinging and throwing pillows Chiyo, Sango, and I would try to tickle Aoi, Rin, and Kagome. From that we played a little game of Hide and Seek and I was the first to be `it'. After I found everyone we went back to our mindless pillow fight. Suddenly, while we were playing, the front door opened and the light was switched on. It was Aunt Risa.
“What are you girls doing?” she asked.
“Uh…acting like idiots.” I said.
“I see…” she said shaking her head. “Well I'm glad you're having fun.”
“What are you doing here? I thought you had to go to work.” Aoi said.
“I was on my way but I realized I forgot my ID so I had to come back.”
“Oh, uh, let me get that for you...” Aoi said rushing up to her aunt's room. She returned within a couple of seconds with Aunt Risa's ID in hand.
“Here you go!” she said with a smile.
“Thanks, and remember what I said!” With that Aunt Risa walked out of our good graces once again.
We all dropped to the floor from exhaustion.
“That was fun!” Chiyo said. “This brings me back to the good old days when I myself was in high school...”
“And how many years ago was that, Chiyo?” I asked. “One or two?”
“Shh!” Chiyo hissed, “I'm reminiscing...”
“Wow...” Aoi said.
Rin picked up a pillow from the pillow fight off of the floor and hugged it.
“You like that pillow Rin?” Sango asked.
She nodded, “Yeah, it's soft, white, and fluffy. It reminds me of Sesshomaru-sama.”
I wasn't looking at them, but when I felt their eyes on me I felt inclined to look at them. I looked to my left to see Sango and Aoi looking at me, suppressing their laughter.
I told you he was fluffy... I heard Aoi think.
Be quiet, `spo!
Oh no you didn't just take my word...
“So Rin,” Kagome said, “How exactly did you meet Sesshomaru?”
I think everyone was interested in hearing this story, because everyone leaned in closer to listen to what Little Rin had to say.
“Well, when I met Sesshomaru-sama, I was only six years old.” Rin began.
“How old are you now?” Kagome asked.
“Seven!”
We all laughed, except for Rin who looked confused as to why we were laughing at something so important. She just shrugged it off and continued.
“Well, it was a bright sunny day so I decided that I would go to the park. But when I was walking there, I got lost.”
“Lost?” Aoi asked. “You got separated from your mom?”
Rin shook her head, “No, Kizuna-san let me go to the park by myself. She wasn't with me at all.”
Aoi squinted her eyes at me, Who's Kizuna-san? And why the hell would she let a six year old girl go anywhere by herself?!
She's Rin's foster mother. And from what I hear, she's not too good at her job if you know what I mean...
Aoi nodded in understanding as Rin continued.
“I kept walking and walking but eventually I just kept getting more and more lost. When I got tired I sat down by the gate of this really big house I saw.” Rin stretched her arms out to show us how big the house was. “I got scared and I started crying. Just then someone walked out of the gate, it was Sesshomaru-sama. He asked me who I was and why I was sitting in front of his house. I told him that my name was Rin and that I got lost. He looked at me for a little bit and then told me to follow him. He took me in his car and we went to go eat ice cream! Well, I got ice cream. Sesshomaru-sama didn't get any.”
Of course not, he might die if he were to eat something sweet.
Aoi, be quiet!
“After we got ice cream, he asked me if I still wanted to go to the park, but I said `no' `cuz I just wanted to go home. I told him my address, `cuz I remembered it from when Kizuna-san told me, and he took me back home. When I got home, Kizuna-san was mad at me because it took me too long to get back.”
She's a bitch...
Aoi cut it out!
She is...!
“I wanted to say `bye' to Sesshomaru-sama but he left before I could say anything. The next day I went back to Sesshomaru-sama's house, but I didn't get lost like before because I remembered my way. When he saw me he asked me why I came back, and I told him it was `cuz I wanted to say `thank you'. But he said he didn't care. I told him `thank you' anyway, and every day since then I kept coming back to his house. One day he asked me why I stayed around him so much, `Because I like you and you were nice to me!' I said. He said he didn't know why I liked him so much, because we're so different. I said `It doesn't matter what's on the outside, it's about what's on the inside, besides I love your pointy ears!'”
Rin sighed, “And that's how I met Sesshomaru-sama!”
Aoi, Kagome, Chiyo, Sango and I all clapped when she finished.
“That was entertaining.” Kagome said.
Strange though, that's not how Sesshomaru said they met... I thought.
“Yeah,” Sango said. “But Rin, why do you always call him Sesshomaru-sama?”
Rin looked at her, “That's because when I saw his house, it was so big that it reminded me of a castle, so I thought he was a prince!” she smiled.
“Wait…so if Sesshomaru's a prince…wouldn't that make you a princess Hana?” Sango said grinning at me.
“Yeah! She's right! Since you're Sesshomaru-sama's woman that makes you a princess! So I'll call you Hana-sama from now on!” Rin exclaimed.
I waved my hands and said “No no! Hana-san is fine! Besides it's not like we're married…”
“But you want to marry him, right?” Aoi said leaning close to me.
“Of course but we're not married yet!”
“Yet? You say that like you already know he's going to propose.” Chiyo said.
I threw a pillow at her and said “Because I do know!”
Rin giggled and then looked at us. “Hey…can you all keep a secret?”
We all leaned in close and said “Of course!”
“Well…” she said playing with her fingers. “Since I met Sesshomaru-sama I always looked at him…kinda as my touchan.”
“Awww…” we all said.
Rin continued “I mean… he protects me, spends time with me, and he buys me things I need…and even though he doesn't really show it, I know he cares for me and loves me. I know there are sometimes I almost call him touchan but then I stop myself. And you know…one day I hope that he'll adopt me…I know it's a bit much and he already does so much for me…”
I put my hand on Rin's shoulder and said “I'm sure one day he will, Rin.”
She looked at me and nodded and said “Yeah! And when he does you'll be my kaachan.”
I nodded. Even I had to admit having Rin as a daughter wouldn't be a bad thing.
“You know Rin, you need a nickname!” Aoi said.
“Wow where did that come from?” I asked.
“Well all this talk about names it just made me think: she needs a nickname!”
Just don't give her anything stupid, Aoi...
What makes you think I would do that?!
“Okay Rin,” Aoi said looking at her, “Your new nickname is...”
She thought for a second.
“Mini-chickadee!”
“What?! Aoi are you serious?!”
Aoi looked upset, “What?! I am serious! She's a mini-chickadee so that should be her new nickname!”
“I like it!” Rin piped up.
Aoi smiled, “Great! So from this day forward you shall be known as `Mini-chickadee'!”
“Okay!” Rin said smiling and giving Aoi a big hug.
The girls and I talked some more about several things and while we were talking Rin had slowly drifted off to sleep. I carried her upstairs and laid her in the bed I was using in one of the guest rooms. Before leaving the room I kissed her on her forehead and whispered “Oyasuminasai chibi Rin.”
When I got back down I yelled “YAY! It's horror movie time!”
Aoi shushed me and said “No Hana! I told you no scary movies.”
“But c'mon Aoi…horror movies are great.” Sango said.
“I dunno…I really don't like scary movies myself.” Kagome said.
“See? Kagome doesn't like them either.” Aoi said.
“I'm going to have to third with Hana and Sango! Horror movies are the shiznit!” Chiyo said.
I grinned and said “Looks like you two are outnumbered. Scary movies it is then!”
“Uh uh! That's not fair. This is my house.”
“And mine too. You did say this was my second home.” I said matter-of-factly.
“No you said that.”
“But you said to make myself at home and that I was always welcome here.”
“No Aunt Risa said that.” Aoi said once again correcting me.
I pouted and said “So what are you saying? I'm not welcome here?”
“No you little spo'! Hey that rhymed…anyway I'm just saying it's not right for you to make jurisdiction about what movies we watch in, technically, my house.”
I got on my knees and begged “Please Aoi-chan! I need to watch some scary movies! I need screaming, blood, and gore!”
Sango and Chiyo got on their knees too and made little pitiful puppy dog (well, in Chiyo's case, kitty) faces with me. Aoi, of course, didn't fall for it but Kagome did. “Aw. Look at them Aoi. Maybe one movie won't hurt.”
She rolled her eyes, “Kagome you're a little sucker...fine…but just one. If we have nightmares…I'm going to get the beat down on all of ya'll.” She said pointing a finger at each of us.
Sango, Chiyo, and I then jumped up and said “Yay!”
After debating on a movie for a minute, Sango, Chiyo, and I finally decided to watch Jisatsu Saakuru.
“NO! That's one of the worst ones!” Aoi said with a look of absolute terror on her face.
“Oh come on Aoi, deal with it!” I told her. Chiyo and Sango agreed with me.
The movie started and the image of a group of schoolgirls throwing themselves in front of a speeding bullet train flashed across the screen, Kagome squirmed and Aoi squeezed my arm, from then on I knew that it was going to be interesting. During the rest of the movie Aoi and Kagome constantly turned their heads or screamed. Finally after the movie was over we all went to bed. Though I had a feeling Kagome and Aoi didn't get any sleep...
