Chapter eight:
Sesshomaru drove into the camp and it instantly became silent as they watched him drag the enemies prince through it making sure everyone saw, all the way to the end where his hut is. He stopped the horses about twenty feet from his hut, untied the rope from the chariot an pulled Hector’s body by the rope up to the side of his hut and glared at everyone watching. He didn’t do this for the war, not for this side, not for Naraku, not for himself, he did this for Inuyasha. For the love of his brother. He walked into the hut, an the first thing he saw was Kagome hunched on his bed against the wall. She looked at him, she’d been crying. She started crying again, he’d killed her brother, and he just glared at her tears as he walked over to the washing bowl, took off his chest armor throwing it to the ground and started to rinse his face. It was late afternoon now, the sun was starting to set. He’d taken care of the prince, took out the spear still in his shoulder, closed his eyes, and untied the rope around his feet. Then walked back into his hut where he sat across from Kagome, she still had silent tears running down her face. They sat their in silence until the sun fully set.
“You lost your brother..... now you’ve taken mine..... when will it end?” She asked she, finally stopped crying when he came in. He sat there not moving a muscle staring at he floor by his feet.
“It never ends.” He said emotionlessly. She unwrapped the blanket she was holding to herself and stood walking out of the hut. No one would bother her, Sesshomaru made sure of that days ago. She went and sat on the beach a few feet from where the tides came in. She couldn’t cry anymore, she ran out of tears it seemed like. She’d lost her older brother to the man she loved. And she had no doubt in her mind that she loved him, but she also knew, that he didn’t love her, he had been with a thousand women just like her, he couldn’t possibly love all of them, and what made her so different? Because he had her two nights in a row and saved her? She didn’t think so. She didn’t want to think anymore.

Sesshomaru sat in his hut, he heard the flap pen and a hooded figure stumbled in, and kneeled at his feet. The hooded figure, took off his hood. It was an old man, he reached for one of Sesshomaru’s hands and brought it to his mouth he kissed it, and then the other. Sesshomaru peered on in confusion, sitting up straight as he asked. “Who are you?”
“I have endeared what no one on earth has endeared before. I kissed the hands of the man who killed my son.” The old man said shakily.
“Pream?” Sesshomaru said sitting even straighter as he peered at the old man’s nod with amazement. “How did you get in here?” He asked.
“I think I know my country better than the Japanese.” HE said starting to stand as Sesshomaru grabbed him by his upper arms, helping him and setting him on a stool behind him as he stood.
“Brave man. I could have your head on a spit in a blink of an eye.” Sesshomaru said letting go of the old man and peered down at him with respect as he peered up at him with the same.
“Do you really think death frightens me now?” He sighed. “I watched my son die, I watched you drag his body behind your chariot. Give him back to me. He deserves a proper burial, you know that. Give him to me.” The king begged with unshed tears in his eyes.
“He killed my brother.” Sesshomaru spat.
“How many brothers have you killed? How many fathers, and sons, and cousins? How many brave, Sesshomaru?” He took a pause, then peered back up at the man who killed his son. “I knew your father, and he died before his time, but he was lucky enough not to see his son fall.” Sesshomaru slowly lowered himself into a stool. “You have taken everything from me today. I watched my oldest son, air to my throne, defender of my kingdom, will the gods give me a small mercy. I loved that boy from the moment he opened his eyes, until the moment you closed them. Let me wash his body... let me say the prayers... let me place two coins on his eyes for the boatman...” Te old man was on the verge of crying, grieving for his son.
“I let you walk out of here, let you take him... it doesn’t change anything.” Sesshomaru whispered to the old man, meeting his eyes with the old weary ones of his enemy’s. “You are still my enemy in the morning.”
“You are still my enemy tonight.... but even enemies can show respect.” The old man sighed.
There was a short pause where Sesshomaru was deep in thought. “I admire your courage.” Sesshomaru said standing and walking to the doorway, but stopped. “Meet me outside in a moment.” Then walked out to get the old man’s son for him to take home. He told Midoris to get a chariot an for another to help him wrap and lift the body onto it.
The old man sighed with relief stepping out of the hut seeing them strap his son’s body to a chariot, allowing him to take his son home.
Sesshomaru finished tying the last strap then whispered to the dead prince. “We will meet again soon brother.” Then the old man walked towards the chariot Sesshomaru standing next to him. “Your son was the best I ever fought. In my country the funeral games last twelve days.”
“As it is in mine.” The king whispered.
“No Japanese soldier will attack for twelve days, then, to honor the prince.” Sesshomaru said, then turned as did the King as Kagome walked up from the beach head down.
~~~~
Kagome walked up from the beach sick of thinking head down until she was almost to Sesshomaru’s hut, she raised her head and their standing there was her father. She ran to him and they embraced Sesshomaru watching from a few feet away. She watched Sesshomaru over her father’s shoulder as they embraced. “We thought... kiss... you were dead.” He r father said as he kissed her forehead, then backed away from her, and walked to the chariot to say his thanks to Sesshomaru’s men. Kagome stared at Sesshomaru slowly walking towards him.
“You are free now.” He said when she stood next to him. He leaned in and gave her a kiss on the forehead, then handing her a neckless which she took, but didn’t look at it as she stared at him, her tears coming back. “If I hurt you, it isn’t what I intended.” He whispered to her. She nodded hearing her father call to her to come on, she slowly backed away from him and stepped onto the chariot with her father. “No Japanese will stop you, you have my word.” He nodded to Midoris a few of his men walked behind the chariot until they were out of camp. Kagome stared at him until they were out of sight never breaking eye contact as tears ran down her face, until then.
~~~~
Sesshomaru watched until he couldn’t see Kagome anymore. Then he slowly turned around and walked back to his hut, as he told Midoris to tell Claudius about the no attacking for twelve days.
~~~~
Sesshomaru makes a secret packed with the enemy king, no attacks for twelve days and I have to honor it! It’s and outrage!” Naraku bellowed at Claudius and his advisor that night. “Of all the warlords the gods blessed I hate that one the most!” Naraku yelled pacing in his throne room of the giant tent. “Their prince is dead their army is leaderless! Now is the time to attack!”
“Even with Hector dead, we have no way to penetrate their walls.” The advisor spoke.
“I will crush the walls of Tokyo. Zeus, father of the gods, hear me, I will crush their walls!” Naraku yelled to the sky.
~~~~
It was still early in the night. Kagome was sent to become presentable as her father and brother washed and dressed Hectors body. No one but her father knew she was back yet, so when she walked into the ceremony it caused quite a stir. Everyone thought she was dead. She waked to the thrones where Ezmerelda an Helen sat. Ezmerelda in the middle largest throne, and Helen to her right holding her baby son. When they saw Kagome walk up the steps to join them before he ceremony, they started crying all over again. Kagome ignored their cries for her and all the cries period as she sat down on a throne. She wouldn’t cry anymore, she was sick of crying. She had her heartbroken by two men, neither of which she would ever see again. She watched as they brought in her brother’s body an placed it on the large platform. She watched her father place two coins on his eyes and he and her brother lite the fires, then climbed down the latter. They walked up the steps both heads bowed, when Souta saw her he ran to her picking her up from her throne and hugging her. She leaned against him like a limp doll, she wouldn’t even hug him back. Soon there was nothing left but ashes and she was the first to leave the ceremony. Souta with Helen on his arm following. When they were outside her chambers she opened the door an Souta let go of Helen to pull her back, and she yanked her arm out of his grasp to glare at the couple, she spit at their feet a sign of disrespect.
“Get off me you heathens and stay off me. I don’t want either one of you near me.”
“Kagome, what is wrong with you? Why are you so filled with hate?” Souta j=hissed back at his sister.
“That man we honored tonight died because of your selfishness and her’s too!” She yelled at him. “Thousands of fathers, brothers, sons died because of you two! And what do you do?! From what I hear from Sesshomaru you ran back to Hector’s feet like a spoiled little scared brat you are! Some prince of Tokyo you are!”
“You would have died then?!” Souta yelled. “If you were me you would have fought and died what would that prove?!”
“YOUR LOVE! Love for this whore!” She jutted her head towards Helen who just bowed her head, while the two argued. “Love for your country! For your people! That’s what a real leader would have done! That’s what I would have done!”
“YEAH?! What would you know about love?!” Souta countered even though he knew his older sister was right.
“I have loved more than you ever will! I loved a man, and still do, but I left him, I left him for this family! For this country and it’s people! Which includes you!” She panted from her yelling she felt her throat start to become hoarse. Her brother had nothing to counter, noting he could do. “I loved that man with all my heart, but the gods have cursed me, because I am no longer a priestess, I am not pure anymore.” She whispered silent tears running down her face as Souta looked at her in shock.
“You aren’t a virgin? But you aren’t married.”
“Neither were you.”
“It doesn’t matter for men.”
“It doesn’t if you love them, I’d rather be cursed by the gods for the rest of my life and have that one night with the man I loved than, deny him and have the gods bless me. But you brother and this slut of your’s are now cursed by me, so I don’t want either of you near me, and if you are, don’t think I won’t hesitated to kill both of you, for I have more courage than you ever will!” She yelled at him stepping in her room and slamming her door in their faces. As they both stared at it before walking away still in shock and hurt by her words.
Kagome leaned against the other side panting for breath as she slid down to crumple at the foot of the doors, crying herself to sleep on the cold stone floor.
A/N: Intense, now that wasn’t in the movie or story I don’t think, but I hate how this one selfish woman started the whole war and everyone just forgave her like it was no big deal. I mean yeah they were in love, but can’t anyone fight their own battles back then instead of starting a war?! Geez, sorry still a little worked up about their little fight. She told him, I’m telling you! Anyway review and tell me what you think! And if you think of a title for this please send it to me in a review! Byes!
