InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Notice Me ❯ She Remembers? ( Prologue )
She Remembers?
Inuyasha watched Kagome Higurashi enter the library, like every period 4. He loved her since the second grade, but she had yet to even know his name, or look his way. Now they were seniors in high school, and he still loved her. He watched her every move, he thought about her 24/7, and he knew everything about her.
He knew that she had a boyfriend. Damn Kouga. But then again, Inuyasha also knew that Kagome wasn't happy with Kouga. He could tell when she was happy. Like when she was reading. This period was when Inuyasha would watch Kagome read.
Inuyasha was mesmerized every time she let out a faint laugh, or when tears strolled down her face. Did she really feel all of that from a single book? Miroku sat by Inuyasha, talking about god knows what, and Inuyasha just ignored him. He was too interested in Kagome who had chosen a book, and settled at the next table over.
Inuyasha let out a barely audible sigh as she opened the book, and her eyes showed a great deal of interest, and contentment. Now she was truly happy. Not when Kouga put his disgusting arm around her, saying, "Kagome's my woman!" Inuyasha cringed at the thought of the rotten wolf. Kagome was only dating him because her friends forced her into it, anyway.
Kagome let out a little giggle, causing Inuyasha to hold back a smile. 'I wonder what's so funny…' What ever it was, it made her happy and he loved the soothing sound of her laughter. He noticed she looked up, with a red face. 'She must be embarrassed for laughing out loud.' Inuyasha figured.
Suddenly, Inuyasha realized something. She stared directly at him! Her icy blue eyes glimmered in the dim light of the library as they met Inuyasha's honey golden specs. Inuyasha thought he'd faint right there. How beautiful her eyes were! And she was looking directly at him.
Suddenly he snapped into reality when Miroku said, "You're drooling again, Dog Boy!" Inuyasha growled at his clueless friend, and hit him over the head. Despite the giant lump on his head, Miroku managed to laugh. "Just tell her how you feel!" Miroku teased, "Didn't you see the way she looked at you?"
Inuyasha turned to look back at her, but she was now engrossed in her book, again. Inuyasha let out a sigh. 'No, I don't deserve someone like her…' He told himself. He remembered the day he fell in love with her. The day he knew she was the one. 'Okay, maybe it was in the second grade, but…' His thoughts trailed off as he relived the moment in his head.

Flashback
Inuyasha had just moved to Tokyo, and it was his first day of the second grade. All of the kids just ignored him, or laughed at him. Inu Yukai were new to Tokyo, and these kids weren't about to accept him. So, he sat alone at recess, on the steps.
These two kids; Kouga, and Hojo decided to pick on him. They walked over, and began laughing at him, and teasing him. Inuyasha just sat there and took their abuse. Kouga had even taken Inuyasha's snack, saying, "Aww, do you want your doggy food back, boy?" Then he threw it onto the ground, "Fetch!"
All the kids were laughing, and Inuyasha thought he would start crying any minute. "Kouga, stop or I'm telling!" A little girl's voice interrupted. Kagome walked over to the three boys, and stepped between Inuyasha, and Kouga. "Stay out of it, Kagome!" Kouga snapped, but Kagome just folded her arms.
"I'm going to tell!" She repeated. Kouga just groaned, and walked away. She then turned to Inuyasha, and said, "Here." She handed him a fruit by the foot, and sat next to him. She was giving him her snack!
She hadn't talked to him while he ate but stared with fascination. "You have very cute ears!" She had told him before skipping away to play with her friends. Inuyasha knew it was love since that day.
Back to reality!
Kagome let out another little laugh. But she didn't seem to notice everybody look in her direction. She looked up at the clock, and got up to put the book away. Inuyasha was now trying to see what that book was. He was really interested in what was so funny.
He didn't catch the title but she put it down on the library shelf so he walked over to see it. (When he was sure she wasn't looking.) It was a plain red book. 'Not the Average Love Story' Inuyasha held it in his hand, and skimmed through the pages. 'So, what's so funny about this?' He wondered.
Suddenly, a soft voice startled him. "You should really read that." It was Kagome! He turned to look at her. "Huh?" Was all he could manage to say. He waited ten years for her to speak to him, and he couldn't even talk back!
"I said 'You really should read that.' She repeated. She wasn't annoyed. A sweet smile came across her face, melting Inuyasha's heart. "Oh, this?" He asked, nervously, holding up the book, "I-I was just wondering what made you laugh like that…"
A faint blush spread across her face, "Oh, it was that noticeable?" She giggled. He smiled a little. "Yeah, it was." She looked at her feet. "Well, you really should read it. I've read it three times already." He just looked at the book. 'Three times!' "Yeah, maybe I will." He said.
The bell rang, and people began to clear out of the library. "Well, I should get to next class." She said, meeting his eyes, again. "I'll see you around." He smiled at her. Those gorgeous eyes of hers. "Yeah, I'll see ya." He managed to say. She turned ready to leave but seemed to be frozen.
Suddenly she turned to look at him over her shoulder. "You still have cute ears." She said shyly, with a huge smile on her face. He stared at her in shock. 'She remembers?" All he could do was laugh nervously, and nod. She walked out of the library without a second look back.

She did it. She finally spoke to the dog boy that she remembered from elementary school. She felt her heart going crazy in her chest. Why was she so nervous to talk to him anyway? It wasn't like she liked him… like that!
She had always wanted to talk to him, but since the second grade she just couldn't. She had nothing to say to him. That's why she was relieved to see him holding up that book. It was a great way to start a conversation.
It was true that he had adorable ears. Ever since she first laid eyes on the dog boy, she wanted to rub his ears, but she couldn't just say, "Excuse me, my name is Kagome. Can I rub your ears?"
Also, that dog boy hadn't the slightest clue. She wasn't laughing at her book! She laughed every time his triangular ears perked up, twitched, or drooped down. She didn't let him know that, though. Whenever he looked at her curiously to see why she was laughing, she stuffed her face into her book.
Kagome had almost made it to her locker before that jerk, Kouga came up to her. "Hey, Kagome!" He said, throwing his arm around her shoulder, arrogantly. "How's my woman doing." She pulled away from his arm. "Kouga." She sighed, "We went on one date! I'm not your 'woman'!" He just laughed, cockily, "Kagome, don't worry! Everybody already knows we're an item."
"Kouga, we aren't an item!" She cried, "I'm single. We aren't dating! I don't like you like that!"
With that, she shoved Kouga away, and stormed down the hallway. She hated how he told everyone that she was 'his woman'! "Call me later, babe, okay?!" Kouga called after her. She just rolled her eyes. 'Some people never learn…'

Inuyasha sat on the sofa, engrossed in the book. It was really kind of funny! What he like mostly about it was the plot. The guy was in love with the girl but she couldn't tell. They turn the whole situation into a joke. Suddenly the door flew open, causing him to leap up.
"Damn you, Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha growled, when his brother came laughing in. "Hey, what the hell are you reading?" Sesshomaru asked, glaring at the book. "Don't tell me it's a love story!" He smirked. Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "I have to read it for school.' He groaned.
Sesshomaru just smirked some more, and went upstairs to his room.
"Stupid Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha mumbled under his breath, before turning back to the story. He let out a sigh. 'Kagome…' That name resounded in his head. 'Could this bring me closer to her? Maybe we could be…friends?' He let his shoulders slump over. 'I hope so.'
