Of Aggravated Women and Clueless Half Demons
*Author's Note: I am soooo sorry this took so long to update. I've had this chapter done for a while but I was waiting for my reviews to reach 20. I'm hoping that future chapters will not take nearly as along. Please forgive me and enjoy.
Also on a funny note, on May 1, 2005, from 18:32 SDT—20:10 SDT one reviewer posted nine consecutive reviews just so I could reach my 20-review-update-quota. I was watching it as it was happening and it was hilarious. My family was giving me funny looks because I was sitting at the computer just cracking up. I was laughing so hard I couldn't answer them when they asked me what I was laughing about. I almost fell out of my computer-chair from laughing so hard. Just thought I'd share that with you all.
Chapter 5
Just as Inuyasha and Kagome pull apart from their hug Kagome's grandfather, Yoshida Okimoto, knocks on Kagome's door and walks in.
“Kagome, your mother asked me tell you that supper is ready and that….” He trails off as he notices Inuyasha is in her granddaughter's room. “Aaaah, Demon!” He screams and slaps a sealing paper onto Inuyasha's forehead.
Inuyasha's expression turns irritably dead-pan as he marvels at how normal the old man can be for such a bizarre and outlandish day-and-age. Before Inuyasha can cause bodily harm to her crazy grandpa; Kagome decides it's and excellent time to ask he grandpa what her mother made for dinner.
“So Gramps, what were saying about supper being ready? What are we having by the way?”
“Ah yes, supper, you mother has made you favorite Kagome…oden.” Her grandpa replies. “Also, she want you make a list of the supplies you will need for you next trip to the feudal era.”
The rest of Mr. Okimoto's words are lost to Kagome as her eyes grow widen in delight and she begins to drool. Her only response is, “Oooo…oden!” Then she dashes to her door nearly knocking her grandfather over, and charges down the stairs to the kitchen. Inuyasha and Yoshida look after her just shaking there heads in bewilderment.
“Well come along Demon you may as well stay for diner. Akina would be angry with me if made you leave.” Yoshida states dryly.
Inuyasha nods and gestures toward the door, “After you Old Man.” he says then they both walk out of Kagome's room and downstairs to the kitchen for supper.
As Inuyasha and Kagome make there way to the well-house they discuss what they should do when they get back to the Warring-States Era.
“I think we should talk to Kaede and the others first before beginning the next hunt. Just to see if there have been any new rumors about the Jewel Shards.” Kagome explains. “I also need to stock up on healing herbs and arrows, I'm nearly out.”
Inuyasha just shrugs his shoulders before replying. “Well alright, I s'pose your right about seeing if there's any new rumors. But, why do you need more herbs I thought you were going to bring along more of your future medicines?” Inuyasha asks in slight confusion.
Kagome sighs. “I am bringing along my first aid kit but I like to have herbs for the feudal era because I don't like polluting you world with my future technologies.” She explains.
“Oh, well, okay whatever.” Inuyasha replies nonchalantly. “How long are you planning on staying this time anyway?” Inuyasha inquires cautiously as the reach the door to the well-house.
Kagome stops to think for moment before response. “Hm, well, I think I'll be able to stay for at least a month.” She says in contemplation. “I'll have to come by then to continue my home scho…training with my instructor and I'll probably have to stay here for a week or two.” She finishes with certainty.
“A month huh, I s'pose that's alright, tell me again what this “home training” thing is again.” Inuyasha says.
Kagome sighs in weariness. “Argh, Inuyasha we've been thought this.” She retorts.
“I know but I keep forgetting. Just tell me what it is one more time before we leave.” Inuyasha requests defiantly.
Kagome sighs again before stating. “Okay, you do remember everything I explained to you about school right?”
Inuyasha nods before reciting, “Primary School is a mandatory institution in which children ages five summers to twelve summers old go to learn the basics of reading, writing, arithmetic, science and history. Junior High School, also mandatory, which you were in, is where young adults ages thirteen summers to fifteen summers go to learn advanced forms of reading, writing, arithmetic, science and history. Senior High School and Collage, which are not mandatory but optional, are were adults ages sixteen summers to twenty-three summers go to learn even more advanced forms of reading, writing, arithmetic, science and history.” He finishes unenthusiastically.
Kagome beams up at him. “Very good Inuyasha, I'm so proud of you for remembering that!” She exclaims cheerfully.
“Keh.” is Inuyasha's only response.
Kagome frowns at him but decides to ignore it and continue with her explanation. “Well, all you need to remember is that home training or home schooling, is exactly that, learning at home and the instructor or teacher comes to you and that I don't have to been here for it as much as do for regular school. But when I say I need to come back here for home school than you had damned well better let me. Understand now?” Kagome finishes firmly.
Inuyasha only response to that is; “Keh, whatever, lets just go.” then he begins to walk through the door to well when Kagome stops him. “What is it now?”
Kagome ignores his rudeness but answers anyway, “I just remember that I never gave you your birthday gift.” She states proudly.
“Huh, what are talking about? It's not my birthday.” Inuyasha retorts in bewilderment.
“Well, know that but I don't know when your real birthday is so I just figured I'd go with the day I released you for the Sacred God's Tree of Ages.” Kagome explains cheerily. Inuyasha just stares at her in astonishment as she drops her yellow backpack, which is bursting at the seams, and flits off back to the house to retrieve whatever it was that she got him.
She comes back a few minutes later carrying a semi-flat rectangular package about the size of her torso. Kagome struts up to Inuyasha and presents the package to him. “Open it...carefully.” She states after he'd taken it and just looked at it in confusion. Inuyasha shrugs and rips the paper off with his claws. “You wouldn't believe how difficult it was for me to find this so you had better appreciate it.” Kagome declares in warningly.
Inuyasha looks up at her again once he has the paper off which had revealed more paper. Kagome sighs at his actions. “It's just to keep what's inside safe.” She says reading his questioning expression.
“Keh.” Inuyasha responses before tearing off the rest of the paper and revealing what had been rapped up. Realizing what he's looking at his eyes grow wide and his mouth drops open in astonishment. “Kagome…! How…where…” He stops trying to talk and closes his eyes and takes a deep breath to calm himself. When he's sure he has control again he asks. “Kagome where in the Seven Hells did you get this!” He demands gesturing at the medium sized portrait or his mother.
“Actually, Myoga told me about it a few months ago and while you were off one day doing gods knows what, I ask Myoga and Kirara to take me to the abandoned castle not far from Kaede's village where this was located.” Kagome states evenly while inside she was just bursting with uncertain excitement. Uncertain, because she was not sure whether Inuyasha like her gift to him or not.
Through her entire explanation Inuyasha had remained relatively calm; but at the thought of Kagome running around Japan during the Time of Warring States all by herself, in search of something he had given up on long before he had even met Kikyo not less; he became anything but calm. “You did WHAT!!! Are you crazy Bitch…or are you just stupid!!! Nothing is so important that you should think its okay for you got traipsing off all over Warring Japan by yourself!!!” Inuyasha exclaims no longer able to hold his temper.
Not want to start another fight after just finishing the last one Kagome represses her indignation at his livid pronouncement understanding that he was just worrying about her in his own way. “Alright calm down Inuyasha, I'll never do anything like that again without telling you.” She concedes dominance to him for the moment. “But for your information I was not all alone. As I said already I had Myoga and Kirara with me. And we both know Kirara is invaluable in a fight. So I was perfectly safe, and came back with portrait in tacked and without even a scratch on myself or being missed for that matter. So you can just stop while you a head, Inuyasha. And I'll say it again just so you can be reassured.” She pauses to make sure he was listening. “I will never wonder around the Feudal Era without you again. Okay?” She finishes half-pleadingly.
“Keh.” Is all Inuyasha has to say but secretly he is relieved, very relieved.
“So…” Kagome asks as she begins walking thought the well-house door again.
“So…what?” Inuyasha asks fallowing her with the portrait in one hand and her overstuffed bag in the other.
Kagome rolls her eyes but once again ignores his rudeness. “So…how did you like you birthday gift?” She asks excite taking over again. They were both just standing by the well now looking down into its depths.
“It's ok.” He states nonchalantly.
Kagome's head snaps up abruptly irritations taking over. “What…`It's ok'…?” She asks disbelievingly. She had thought for sure that Inuyasha would love her gift to him. “How can you say that do know what I want thought to try and get that for you.” She asks still not looking at him.
By this point Inuyasha is doing everything he can not to laugh at her indignant tone. “Yea, it's ok. I mean it's not like couldn't have gotten it on my own if I had wanted to. So it's not big deal.” He replies with a huge smirk on his face. Setting the portrait and Kagome's bag down again he fully turns towards her and awaits the storm soon to come.
Unable to hold it in any longer Kagome turns towards Inuyasha; fully intending to give him a peace of her mind, still not looking up at him. “ No big deal?!?!” She exclaims in disbelief. “How can you say that you….” She trails off finally looking up at him and sees the fully blown smile-of-mirth on his face. Realization hits her like a slap on the cheek. “You…you were teasing me. I can't believe you big jerk you were teasing me. Argh!!!”
Chuckling aloud Inuyasha scoops Kagome up into his arms and spins her around eliciting a giggle from her. “I'm sorry for messing with you. I just couldn't resist. You're so cute when you're irritated sometimes.” He confesses as he stops spinning and pulls her more closely into his embrace and nuzzles her neck. Absolutely speechless at his behavior all she can do is wrap her arms around his neck and return the embrace. Taking a deep breath of her sent Inuyasha tells her the truth of what he thought about his gift. “I love it Kagome. I had given up on finding this a long time ago. Thank you.” He tells her softly.
Confused and slightly light headed Kagome can do nothing more than burrow further into his embrace and breathlessly reply, “You welcome.”
Inuyasha tightens his arms around her one last time then finally, reluctantly releases her. “Come on Kagome we'd better get back before the other start to worry.”
Shivering slightly at the loss of warms all Kagome can do is nod her agreement and gather her things as she follows Inuyasha into the well house.
“Ready?” He asks once she's standing beside him in front of the well.
“Yes I'm ready.” She replies, and Inuyasha nods then snakes one arm around her waist, pulls her snugly against his side and jumps into the well.
Well that's it for chapter five I'm working on chapter six now so hopefully I'll have it done soon. I'm planning on writing two more chapters after that to reach eight and then I'm not doing any more until I get another twenty reviews. You are forewarned. MWAHAHAHA!
