CHAPTER 1 --- THE BAD BEGINNING

"RRRRIIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!!"

Kagome Higurashi was suddenly shaken from her thoughts by the abrupt ringing of her phone. `Damn phone', she thought as she quickly reached across the mahogany desk of her office room and snatched up the phone from its receiver.

"Hello," she responded irritated at the person who had broken her concentration. It was a long day at work and she really didn't need another client calling to set up an appointment with her boss for fashion designing. But the voice on the other end quickly caused all her troubles to fade away.

"Hey, babe. How's it going?" Inu Yasha Tamna asked, grinning from his end of the phone line.

"How do you expect?" Kagome answered her boyfriend nonchalantly from her seat, pushing back her chair so she could stand up and stretch. She walked over to the window that covered most of her front wall, allowing her to get a great view of downtown New York.

"Well, from your usual complaints about work, I'd say it's going great," he casually replied.

"Ha ha, very funny. Listen, I get off work in about 15 minutes," she observed, briefly glancing at the clock on her desk that read 3:45 pm. "I'll pick up some Chinese on the way back home so we won't have to bother about food. That'll also give you some time to talk to your brother as well," she gritted.

"Kagome, I've told you before, I can get my own job. I don't need to go begging at some bastard's feet," Inu Yasha sighed, walking toward the exit of the mechanic store.

"Inu Yasha, you promised you'd do this for me and you still haven't. You know you have to do your share of the work if you want us to be able to continue living with each other. It's either today, or never," she lectured, grabbing her purse from her desk.

"Ok, fine, I'll do it, but only because I have to," he answered after a pause.

"Oooh, thank you Yash. I gotta run, Sango's calling. I'll see you later babe. Bye." With that said, Kagome quickly hung up the phone and ran toward her best friend Sango standing at her door.

"Hurry Kagome, I got Kikyou to let us leave work earliy. Seriously, I can't believe she's our boss. She's so conceited," Sango complained as Kagome locked the door and headed for the elevator.

Inu Yasha walked grudgingly toward the large Tamna Corp. building. As he walked in, the security guard glared at him and let him pass without questioning him. Everyone knew he was Sesshoumaru's half-brother, and everyone seemed to give him the exact, tiny ounce of respect that his half-brother gave him. Sesshoumaru was of course, respected by all, since he was the owner of Taman Corp. The company was started by their father, who had passed away, leaving the company in the hands of his sons. Inu Yasha was supposed to work side-by-side his older brother, if he ever agreed to work that is. And now Kagome was finally forcing him to do so.

Inu Yasha took the elevator to the 20th floor, where his brother's office was. He walked down the hallway toward the 1st door on the right. He didn't bother to knock, he never did. So he flung open the door and looked toward the desk for a sign of long silver hair. But what he did see made his jaw drop.

There, on his brother's desk, lay a woman in barely anything at all. She scrambled for her clothes as he opened the door. Beside the desk stood his cold-hearted brother, giving him a deadly, icy glare that would cause even hell to freeze over.

Inu Yasha gulped, Boy was he in for BIG trouble now.

Well, there you have it, the first chapter of ONE LIFE 2 LIVE.

I hope you liked it. This is my very first fic and I'm REALLY nervous writing it. I still have to organize most of my thoughts. I know this chapter is really short and I promise to make a longer chapter next time, explaining a lot more to. This chapter was just to get me started and to give you a view of my style of writing.
