Past Becomes Present

Youth

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,

We shall remember them.

Laurence Binyon (1887-1943) For The Fallen

Last Time

"So you are not going to be my voice within?" Midoriko's sweet soft laugh filled the air around Kagome's person.

"No I will not," Midoriko stopped to think for a second before continuing. "And you remember about the baby inside of you that refused to be born?"

"Hai I do remember Midoriko-Chan."

"Well since my presence is not going to be inside your body, it will finally grow into a baby."

"Midoriko-Chan, I have a question." Kagome wanted for the nod to go on. "Well I know that I am not even from the world I was born into. So am I ever going to meet anyone from my world? You know to help me out in times of confusion?" Midoriko's face turned serious in an instant.

"Hai you are. I cannot tell you in what form but all I am allowed to say is that it cane be any child, adult, or elderly person that is from your world. Now I must go, once you step from the light, you will have changed into your true form." With that Midoriko vanished.

This Time

When the light faded, it revealed a newly transformed Kagome. Her black onyx hair glowed with a soft white light, something similar to that of the moon, her hair glowing it's light for the dark world to see. Her sapphire eyes were lit up in anger, and surprisingly love, the flaming red gown that once adorned her figure was gone, replaced by a midnight blue toga, inlayed with an exquisite pattern of diamonds. Her newly formed wings that were five feet long looked as fluffy as clouds, making them almost impossible to touch. The only real noticeable aspect of her new change - - besides her wings - - were her features, they seemed more sharp yet approachable and soft. (A/N: Sorry if that seemed difficult to understand.)

The crowd gasped at the seer beauty at the once human mate of a Demon Lord who turned into a foreign creature not fit to be on Earth but some Heavenly place, fit for Gods.

The young girl smiled knowingly and departed without too much notice to tell a certain teenager who was looking for Kagome.

Maku backed up to resume his position on the Grand Stair case. `Of course she had to become even more incredible!' Maku escaped before anyone could comment on anything.

SesshoMaru could barely believe his own two eyes. His unsure feet lead him closer to Kagome, making him stand in front of her.

Kagome's sapphire eyes soften as SesshoMaru walked to her in a semi-dazed state.

"Kagome?" The Demon Lord's cold - - yet Kagome could tell unsure - - voice rang out.

"Hai, it is I, Kagome." Kagome surveyed the room with one quick yet purposeful glance. "Maku has escaped, we shall leave." Kagome grabbed SesshoMaru's hand and left out the front door.

In The Limo

Kagome suddenly laughed heartily after they had started moving.

"What is so funny Kagome?" SesshoMaru asked smiling at the true smile that still lit up her eyes and her mouth as her lips curved into a smile.

"Gomenasai! Sess-Kun, I just cannot believe after being kidnapped for a month, I just walk out the front door." Kagome again lapsed into a fit of giggles before beginning to speak again. "And then how I acted . . . So high and mighty. So unlike me!!"

"It suited you well, Kag-Koishii," Kagome smiled at the endearment as SesshoMaru went on to speak. "I am going to take you to my home, then tomorrow I am going to have you see your mother."

"Of course Sess-Kun." Kagome suddenly smiled wickedly. "I would never mind going to your house!"

The limo fell silent after that comment. There would be some comment here and there but the most of the conversation was normally about the weather but nothing important. When the limo came to a stop the driver went out and opened the door.

"We are here."

Kagome stepped out and was instantly tearing up. `This is the home that everything happened. I so wish Rin and Shippo were here right now.' Kagome's sad thoughts were invaded when SesshoMaru snaked an arm around her petit waist and lead her to the front door.

"Anything seem familiar?" The once feared Demon Lords' voice softly rang in Kagome's dainty ear.

"You still live in here?" Kagome touched a familiar side table on the way to SesshoMaru's study.

"Of course."

SesshoMaru stopped walking, letting Kagome continue without him. Her wings slightly moving at each step she took, her toga leaving a small trail behind her.

`Oh how I wish that Rin was here throwing herself at my leg, hugging it like it was a life line and Shippo in my arms seeking comfort that I only seemed to be able to give to him.'

Kagome turned a corner and almost broke into tears. Almost being the key word. The corridor she was standing at the beginning of had been, maybe it still was she didn't know, was the Family Wing. The Family Wing had housed Rin, in her absolutely pink and plush room; Shippo in his manly blue room that held action figures that Kagome gave him. Then there was SesshoMaru and Kagome's master/lord room. It was done in a black and white motif. The futon was plain black with plush cushions and blankets done in a stunning white, the room had a vaulted ceiling with elegant designs of ancient gods and goddesses. Kagome recalled a bookcase in a corner with books on the lay of the land and past lords and mates.

`Wouldn't surprise me if her still had the book I gave him….' As a thought struck Kagome like a lightening bolt would, she stopped. `I wonder if he still has the picture of me he took.'

SesshoMaru stepped next to Kagome soundlessly. Grapping her small hand in his left hand he took her towards the room they once shared. The double door was different, Kagome noted.

But as soon as she stepped inside, it was the same. The futon had changed to a western style bed but the blankets and cushions looked to be the same. Arching her head to look at the ceiling she saw the same Gods and Goddesses adorning the vaulted ceiling. Even having the vaulting ceiling he managed to make the room seem cozy, Kagome thought absently walking to the bookcase.

"Shippo lives here still." SesshoMaru's deep voice startled her out of her own thoughts.

"He does?" Kagome thought aloud. "He does, I can feel him."

SesshoMaru moved to lead the newly transformed woman to a closest that roofed various clothing.

"Get changed and then head to bed. I will be in a little bit, I need to call some," SesshouMaru pause to think of the right word. "People."

Kagome was going to protest but SesshoMaru was gone by the time she turned around. "I hate it when he does that."

An Hour Letter

SesshoMaru

It wasn't like he wanted to call her, but he had to. She was her mother in all actuality.

"Hai Higurashi-San."

"Is she safe?" The worried Mother kicking into full gear as Higurashi-San finally heard word from SesshoMaru Yokaishino.

"Yes she is safe and sound." The tiresome woman was giving him a headache.

"Oh, be sure to come by tomorrow so I can see her. I need to make sure she is safe."

"Of course, I will drive her by."

"Is she awake?"

"No she is sleeping soundly, which you should be doing Higurashi-San!" SesshoMaru summoned the concern needed for that line.

"Of course, remember tomorrow. Goodnight Yokaishino-San."

"Goodnight." SesshoMaru hung up.

It wasn't like he didn't like the lady, hell he did like her, thought she was a cool old lady. But when you needed sleep (you haven't had a full night's sleep for two months), you needed sleep, quite badly at that. Quietly walking to the Family Wing, SesshoMaru took in the smells.

A wood scent that spoke of innocence yet strangely powerful being. That would be Shippo.

An old yet strong scent was softly present. That would be Ah and Un in their chambers.

An old, swamp like scent was also faintly present. That would be Jaken.

And of course a scent that was all innocence, soft carnations among tough (and yet deeply beautiful) white roses. Kagome.

He followed the last scent until it led him to his room. Softly opening one of the two doors, he was stunned at the scene the greeted him.

Kagome was asleep in one of his casual dress shirts - - which he only had about two - - and was sprawled all over his king sized bed, messing his silk covers, his thick (hand-made) cotton blankets, and even some of his pillows were on the floor. If he were not wrong, he would even say Kagome was drooling.

After shaking his mane of hair in an amused manner, he changed into his black silk pajamas and slide into bed. That is after setting everything right, meaning Kagome, blankets, and pillows.

Kagome awoke to a fairly warm blanket wrapped around her. Blinking the sleepiness from her eyes and slightly rubbing them to remove any sleep "boogers", she realized it was no blanket but SesshoMaru. His arms were locked around her miniature waist, one of his legs draped carelessly over her legs (pinning them down), and his face nuzzled in her neck.

"I thought you were never going to get up." Her mates' silky voice rang clear even though his mouth was mere inches from her pulse.

"Don't scare me like that!" Kagome gently scolded, though she didn't mean it. Getting up from her comfortable position, and having the loss of warmth, Kagome went over to the closet (that the Lord had shown her yesterday) and just stood in front of it.

"You know actually picking something out is all the more rewarding."

"Blah blah, I know that. I just do not know what to wear." Kagome turned to see the forgotten Taiyokai getting dressed in casual outfit that off set his graceful and gorgeous features and looks. "It's not every day that I have to pick something out of someone else closet."

"I picked every piece of clothing in there for you," SesshoMaru stopped to look at her choice of sleep wear, once again, "it is so nice to know that my shirts look nice on you." Kagome blushed.

Kagome turned around and fought hard to find something to wear that fitted her mood. Happy yet in preparation of something to come. Picking a "smart" outfit of denim jeans and a blue sweater, with ankle socks, and a pair of underwear. Slipping into brand new clothes always rushed the "Girly-Girl" in Kagome out to the surface.

"These are the coolest Sess-Kun!" Checking her self out as she squealed in delight.

"Welcome."

Once they had eaten breakfast and were off in SesshoMaru's Convertible Coupe '04 with a white paint job, Kagome realized something.

"My wings!" Trying to think of a way to make them disappear, she only imagines them gone and suddenly with a small "pop" they were gone. "Okay that was just plain weird. Pop?"

SesshouMaru only sent her an amused glance. Stopping in front of a tall building, SesshoMaru stepped out. Kagome realized she had to follow.

"This is?"

"The police station." SesshoMaru answered as he took Kagome's hand.

As soon as they stepped foot in the station, a young woman squealed in delight but stopped as she caught sight of Kagome.

"Who are you?" Was the first rude comment to come fourth from her brightly pained red lips.

"Where is Detective Dallas?" SesshoMaru questioned annoyed at the woman.

"Oh well…She's in her office." The woman shrugged thinking then pointed down a corridor. The Taiyokai and his mate followed the corridor until they came upon a door that read "Detective Dallas". They were shouting coming from behind the door, one was young and the other was an older woman's.

Knocking briskly stopped the talking however.

"Come on in!" The older woman's voice rang out.

SesshoMaru walked in with Kagome behind him. There was a woman seated behind a desk that, surprisingly, was clean and organized. Then there was a teenager, about the age of fourteen, sitting in a hard chair rocking out to, what Kagome assumed, some American band.

The woman, Detective Dallas, was pretty, shoulder length hair drawn into a hair ponytail, dark and deep brown eyes, and a figure that came with being extremely active. She looked like someone who was royally pissed at the moment, Kagome concluded.

The teenager was a fairly pretty girl, a prettiness that had yet to be developed. She wore her larger than waist length hair up in a high ponytail, her green eyes defiant against the dark lashes. She had reddened cheeks that looked natural, a long yet delicate neck that had a look of Audrey Hepburn, and had a petite figure that was maybe natural. Her clothes consented of a pair of tight denim pants and a navy blue shirt with white American printing that read "BOYS LIE", both articles of clothing fit her small figure but gave enough to the imagination to say she either didn't know what kind of figure she had or she didn't like showing it. (A/n: Audrey Hepburn is actually my favorite old movie actress, if you do not know who she is I truly feel sorry for you because she was a very gorgeous creature (a little to skinny but hey), if you wish to she why I said anything about the neck, here is a link - http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/folha/almanaque/images/givenchy_tiffany1.jp g. Cut and paste)

"Yokaishino-San, has is the search going?" Detective Dallas asked, completely ignoring the teenager.

"I have found Higurashi Kagome," SesshoMaru tilted his head towards Kagome slightly, "This is she."

"That's great." Dallas paused to glance at the teenager who was staring intently at Kagome. "Don't mind Kobayashi-San, she is defiant."

Kagome stared back at her and was completely scared when Kobayashi spoke to her inside her mind.

I must talk with you. Try to get out of here.

"Higurashi-San? I need you to fill these out." Dallas handed her two papers and a pen before turning back to Kobayashi. "You know that running into the streets is frowned upon, you could have caused a major accident."

"I understand that." Her voice rang soft yet strong. Like a flower among a hurricane.

"Then why are you being defiant at telling me your parents names? I need to call them!"

"I do not have parents!" Kobayashi screamed standing up, SesshoMaru glanced over at her and saw what she truly was. "I have come over from America, I changed my name to fit in and I'm now broke! Is that what you wanted to hear? Detective my ass, you just get your kicks from harassing fourteen year olds!"

Dallas almost growled, the sound not making it because of her human vocals.

"I do not get my kicks that way! You stupid figgin' teenager, I need someone to take care of you so you wont come into my office again. What happened to you isn't even in my department!"

"Well then I am leaving!" Kobayashi turned to Kagome when she looked up. "If you want to find me I'll be in Yoyogi Park." With that Kobayashi grabbed her huge navy blue coat and was out of the door before she had it on. Dallas deeply sighed as the door slammed shut.

"Gomen about that, teenagers these days are different from they are when I was one." She looked over at the couple. "You done yet?"

"Hai, I am." Kagome handed them back and walked out of the door, SesshoMaru following behind.

"Kagome, why were," SesshoMaru's question was lost to the wind when they stepped out of the station because Kagome took off running at full speed towards Yoyogi Park. Stealing a quick glance to his car, he followed his mate in his demon speed.

Yoyogi Park

The teenager, with her head arched back, was just standing in the middle of a Cherry Tree clearing looking up at the sky. She broke into a grin suddenly with a giggle she spoke.

"That cloud looks like a rose…."

Kagome came upon that scene. She still had her wings hidden from view and was not wearing her toga. The teenager turned in a swift motion that the Mate of the Taiyokai of the Western Lands could barely see.

"It took you long enough to come," Kobayashi shrugged helplessly and shook her head at a thought. "I would expect that from your brother not you My Lady."

"My Lady?"

"But of course, I would never disrespect my elders and the woman who is my queen." Kobayashi spoke in a trained voice and stood in her own kind of grace, meant only for her.

SesshoMaru jumped onto the scene to snatch Kagome back when he hit a barrier, to which he growled thunderously. Kobayashi laughed slightly at the madden look on the demon lord.

"Yokai are such impatient creatures. Do you not agree My Lady?"

"Why are so afraid that he would do something? He is only trying to protect me." Kagome spoke as she swung around to look at the laughing teenager with such anger bubbling inside of her that she almost swung in a full circle.

Kobayashi waved a hand at the outburst. The shied disappeared and was only a memory now. SesshoMaru leapt at the teenager with great speed to only be knocked back by a gaze in his direction. A thump was heard as he hit the ground by Kagome's feet.

"I thought you were supposed to be cultured Taiyokai, I have watched both of you and this is what I am supposed to train?" Kobayashi turned around and transformed into something close to what Kagome looked like.

The teenager's once dull blonde hair took new light that made it glow with golden light. Her green eyes glowing emeralds, her lashes thicker then a pencils' width, and the red that once adorned her cheeks disappeared to reappear on her high cheek bones. Her emerald glowing eyes were a lit in anger, confusion and a softens that resembled an animals. Her jeans and shirt were gone and replaced with a gown that had a split quarter sleeves and a round neckline that didn't show anything, it was a silver-ish black (on the sides) and white. Her wings, they were red and black, her left on was black and her right was red. They seemed to be sharpened in comparison to Kagome's fluffy white ones. (A/n: This dress can be seen at http://www.stitchinwitches.com/silvergown6.jpg.)

"You…" Was all Kagome could manage at the shock that racked her system at the sight of the teenager. SesshoMaru saw what had happened and knew what was going to happened, he got to his feet in a graceful motion to lock Kagome in the circle of his arms.

"Hai me." The teenager seemed to consider something, but shook her head sadly. "Did Midoriko-Sama speak with you? She was supposed to when you changed into your True Form."

"She did."

"Well," Kobayashi stepped closer then bowed so her left hand was touching the ground with her right knee touching also. "It is a deep pleasure to see you alive, Queen Kagome."

"What?"

"I assume I should tell you what you are first before I tell you that you are the Queen of a sub-race of Gods and Goddesses." Kagome nodded her head dumbly, while SesshoMaru held on tighter.

"Okay, you are an Eternal, an elite race of the sub-races of Gods and Goddesses, we are in all actuality demigods and demigoddesses." Kobayashi started to speak when she sat down on the now completely dry grass. "Eternals are peace keepers among the gods and demigods, for there is always fights of who is stronger, smarter, and all around the best race among the gods. Even the peacekeepers have armies, which is only for the use of keeping the peace, in Eternals there is only Pure-Hearts. Pure-Hearts are looked on as the strongest but are weakened because of their kind and pure hearts. When Midoriko came into power, she knew the danger of becoming Queen of Eternals, but still she went on, believe me I tried with all my might to stop her.

"A year after she was in power, Naraku came. He plundered and stole our most treasured gifts, our powers. Our powers are what sustained us, without our power we have no life and we are only a speck of dust or the air your precious humans breathe in. We are actually life itself and without us there would be now life." Kobayashi wiped away a stray tear as memories flooded her mind. "Naraku had killed 90% of our race and was heading to the Queen with evil intentions. In the final battle, Midoriko risked her life to transport ever Eternal to a world just in the beginning of life, Earth. During the trap there Naraku had changed to a simple human with incredible burns that a normal human could never survive and Midoriko turned into a powerful priestess. When Midoriko died in battle with those barbaric demons, the Shikon No Tama was created with her pure heart and soul, the jewel then fell into the hands of an un-pure priestess by the name of Kikyo. I believe Kikyo knew what the Shikon No Tama was and choose to wield it's great power, to bad her heart was un-pure because only one Eternal with a pure heart could draw power from it. InuYasha, after the final battle, died because of his stupidity.

"He gave his life to protect a person, I mean demon that had hated his birth and his life. SesshoMaru maybe you can tell Kagome what occurred next." Kobayashi turned violent emerald eyes on SesshoMaru.

"He died in own stupidity to save me." SesshoMaru began. "I do not what had happened next but I remember seeing Midoriko and her telling me something, I did not hear her because of InuYasha's last blood curdling scream. But what you have said does not explain why Kagome came to Sengoku in the first place." Kagome's eyes welled up with tears that were as pure as her soul; they fell from her eyes leaving small rivers on her fair skin.

"Is it not obvious? She came to retrieve her Mother, Midoriko." While Kobayashi spoke SesshoMaru wiped away any traces of tears from Kagome's eyes.

"Who are you?" Kagome's voice rang clear even in these conditions.

"Oh sorry about that," Kobayashi stood up in one graceful motion and bowed her head. " I am Angela Kobayashi, High Grand General of the Pure Hearts Army, I have come to help and train you."

"Okay." Was all that Kagome said before she changed into her True Form. SesshoMaru stepped away for Kagome's wings to expand, turning to look at Angela he spoke.

"Kobayashi, you need to train Kagome?" SesshoMaru stepped closer to the teen. "You are a general, but why did you not just stroll on up to Kagome and tell her the story of Eternals? Why have to go to the trouble with the police?" Angela narrowed her green eyes on SesshoMaru's molten golden ones.

"You should really not be so conceited, my lord." Angela wiggled a finger at his chest, "I know what I am doing. You should just back off, it'll be good for ya."

"You wench.."

"No that's High Grand General Angie," Angela's green eyes flashed to orange in a brief second, "to you Taiyokai." Kagome sensing the negative energy going off of both of them in waves cleared her throat to gain attention.

"Angie I sense horrible terrible things coming from Maku, I must know what is going to be the plan of action." Kagome paused, "I mean we really cannot just start a climatic battle in the middle of Tokyo."

"That is right. We can't why don't we just train and have Maku come to us. To fight on our home would be better than fighting on his turf."

"I would have to agree with the midget." SesshoMaru glared over to Angie.

"Oi! I am not a midget!" Angie fumed. She leapt at SesshoMaru to which he easily dodged. Kagome held a miko barrier around Angie before she could leap at her mate again. "My Lady let this barrier fall, I must defend my pride and honor. Meaning," Angie flashed a quick grin towards Kagome and SesshoMaru. "I must totally destroy that Taiyokai! Moohahahaha…" Angie finished with a spectacular choking act after her "evil" laugh.

"Huh, Angie even if you are a High Grand General, you really do act like a teenager." Kagome said giggling slightly.

"Well I am a teenager mind you." Angie said as she changed back to her human form. As soon as she had done that an animal walked into the clearing seemingly looking for someone. Angie's squeal of happiness was a dead give away who the animal was looking for. The furry animal rushed forward to leapt into Angie's open arms. "Kami I thought you were a goner! How'd you escape, Tink?"

"I bit him in the behind." The animal, strangely, spoke. The animal, what Kagome assumed was a native animal in Immortal, had a small furry tail that was bright green, two equally fuzzy black ears resting on the top of it's head, and a body of bright white, and bright violet eyes. It almost looked like a cat except the fangs, body colors, and eyes told a different story. When the amazing eyes turned to Kagome they changed to a fiery red. "Who's she Angie?"

"Oh that's the Queen. `Member that really white girl? Well she told me `bout the change and I had to get in trouble in order to get to her." Angie explained to "Tink".

"Angie?" Kagome asked, "What's your animal?"

"Gomen, this is Tink, short for TinkerFell. Tink had always fallen when running when she was younger so I named her that. But Tink is a native animal from Immortal, one of the only animals that survived the transportation." Kagome nodded her head in understanding. That animal gives me the creeps, Kagome thought while staring into the violet depths.

"Might we leave? I do have business to attend to." SesshoMaru spoke up; he had felt the surge of energy as Kagome looked at "Tink".

"Hai lets go." Kagome headed out all the while having the feeling of being watched. SesshoMaru had been walking, elegantly, in the front but as soon as thunderous music sounded from behind him he spun around to destroy the object that was the source of the noise. Of course it was Angie happily whistling away with Tink resting in her arms.

"Get those offending things off your head and stop that blasted music!" SesshoMaru roared at Angie. Angie didn't even filch with the angered demon lord in her face the only thing she did do to show she heard him was turn the volume up. Now a two-foot radius with human ears could Linkin Park.

"I said turn that down." SesshoMaru's voice going deadly calm.

"And I thought `Get the hell away from me or I might just have to teach your spoiled butt a Lesson!'" Angie roared as Chester screamed about being "Numb", Tink could sense the angry energy coming off of her master.

"Why you!" SesshoMaru swiped at Angie, she got hit with four of his claws, and the cuts left thin lines going from the left side of her forehead to the right side of her chin. As Angie looked up from her view of the ground she reopened her eyes, staring straight at SesshoMaru with an unblinking stare. Shaking her head sadly she walked past him towards the exit of the park. Leaving the transformed Kagome with SesshoMaru.

Okay peps that be all! And gomen but it may be a looong time before the next chapter comes out. Also I am not going to do all the response, recommendations, and dialogue. I may do some of it if (1) I get an important question (2) I read a great fanfiction or (3) I have to say something really important.

~Mistress Fluffy

Thank you all that have reviewed thus far. And Youkai Yume thanks for reviewing every single chapter. I know there may be more people that have reviewed every chapter but I am too lazy to go check who has. I'll put up the people next chapter. Promise!
