Past Becomes' Present

Ambition

The very substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow

Of a dream.

Shakespeare (1564-1616) Hamlet, II, ii, 268

Last Time:

"Huh duh that was what I was meaning to do," Angie spoke. Kikyo walked up, which was less intimidating to the fact that she was limping, and said in her most chilling voice.

"Now that you did that I don't think that you will live and here I was going to let you." Kikyo stopped to breath. "But now I'll kill you when Maku is ripping out both our Queens' heart and her mates' heart."

"You won't because if it comes down to it, Maku won't be ripping their heart out he would be mine though." She paused to glare, "Because I would rather die protecting my Queen then live and watch her die. Now if you don't mind your scent is making me noxious." Angie jumped back to vanish among the trees and darkness they provided.

"I will kill you before Kagome dies. I promise you that!" The dark priestess screamed in the area that Angie left in. For the dark priestess knew of the times to come as well, may they be good or they are bad. She knew it was a test for all that was involved.

This Time (Note that most of the chapter is in Maku's point of view):

`That damn Taiyoukai! Why must he interfere and get the delicious miko upset?' I pondered as a nameless woman tried, without avail, to get a reaction out of me. It was pathetic and a bothersome. But hey if the woman wanted to die because of pleasure then be my guest. To bad Kikyo and Kagura had to interfere-I was already fed up with both those lousy wenches.

"Maku we have information to tell you," Kikyo's calm voiced, it sounded a little strained to my ears, invaded my thoughts. Another thing I disliked about them was that they always had a knack to deter my thoughts when they turned somewhat hateful towards their beings. `Like I am never thinking hateful thoughts against those to idiots.'

"What is it?" The woman didn't seem to notice to more occupants; she still went on rubbing herself against me and nibbling on my earlobe. It was mildly distracting.

"It is about the Taiyokai and the Miko. There is also someone else involved now as well." It was Kagura this time. Kagura was more pathetic then she was in Sengoku-I had to recreate her because even though she tired to kill me she was powerful. I pushed away from the offending woman; she got the message to leave.

"Come in," talking to this idiots wasn't my idea of a good afternoon but I needed to kill the western lord so my pleasures would have to wait. `How sad is that,' I saw the dark priestess limp in with a scratch on her once flawless face; Kagura was trailing behind-I couldn't see anything wrong with her.

"What is so important that you must interrupt me during my pleasures?" I inquired with a chilling voice-the wenches didn't even flich. That irked me to now end. Kagura stayed standing, at a distance but Kikyo sat on one of the cushions on the floor-a blood red one.

"As you know Maku, there is someone betraying you and is feeding information to a new person. Her name is Angie-that is a fake name. I once trained her in a former life---…"

"What does she have to do with anything?" Growling I braked out an order for the standing wench to go get sake. She did so without a second thought-even though I am the reincarnation, I still hold all the memories, emotions, and…obsessions when I was Naraku.

"Angie is the High General for the Pure Heart Army; even though there are very few Pure Hearts aware of being Pure, she can still call upon them if necessary. Because I was once a Pure Heart she can even call upon me-I would be rendered into a trance like state and forced to obey her. There are also many of your subjects that were once Pure Hearts; that could be very bad Maku." Did she mean to tell me that a good majority of my slaves could turn against me? Oh utterly rid---.

"And if Kagome called upon her ancient powers as queen, then they would be no hope for you." She paused long enough to make me agitated. "As Queen of Immortal and of all Eternals she has-let us say friends, in places were you would be condemned and have no hope of ever being gifted with a body. She could also bring you into the trance-like state I was speaking of, even though you are a forgotten Eternal. She has that type of power." I never remember even being up to that kind of power when I was Naraku. But the final battle was a slight blur in my memories, a hazy picture not seen clearing. Something extremely annoying.

"Is there any way for Kagome to become powerless?" I hated asking this dark priestess question that could possibly kill me but I had no choice. I didn't remember my time as a Eternal and I had to trust her word. Something I had not done since she cared for me as Onigumo.

"Hai there is Maku," an extremely slow-almost sinuous smirk flittered over the cold face of Kikyo before she resumed talking. "You can kill her mate. Taiyokai of the Western Lands."

------------------------------

I am very sorry for the shortness of the chapter but I wanted to get this chapter out. I also have the added stress of trying to get Maku's point of view and his feelings on everything. I also wanted to explain a little more on Kagome's newfound powers as Queen of Immortal. I hope I wasn't to confusing and I am sorry about the short chapter-the next one will be longer but it will come out later. I have "finals" next week and I HAVE to do excellent on them. Well peace and much love to the peoples that have reviewed; your reviews help me! Seriously~!
