InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Past Memories, Future Dreams ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )
Kagome looked up at her new school and sighed softly.
She was tired.
Tired of running from a past that wouldn't leave her. Her heart ached slightly.
Kagome shook her head slowly before walking up to the high School. She was early, but it was a huge three story building.
The air was cool as Kagome climbed laboriously up the stairs.
There were a few people milling about inside, chattering away about their summers and such.
Some people stared, as Kagome flinched slightly. They pointed and whispered to each other.
Kagome took it all in stride, silently lowering her eyes superiorly as if they weren't good enough to look at her eyes.
She fell into her memories, and winced as she recalled the cold brown eyes staring into her own dark blue eyes.
She nearly walked into someone, and mumbled an apology, stepping over to her left. Seeing a few silver hairs, she looked up slightly startled.
"Gomen," she muttered again, casting a glance at the cold golden eyes. He nodded slightly, and Kagome went to her homeroom. To her slight embarrassment, it was the same as his.
Walking up to the teacher, Kagome said her name quietly and patiently.
"Hello. You will be shadowing a student today, okay?" the teacher was a lady around thirty.
"Yes."
"His name is Inuyasha."
"Thank you," Kagome said monotonously, walking to her seat. She figured she'd know who he was without the teacher telling her so. And he'd probably be called on in class anyway.
Kagome opened her notebook, absently drawing a picture of her sister. Narrowing her eyes, she promptly ripped out the picture and threw it in the trash bin. It was too life like.
"SESSHOUMARU!!!!!" a boy shouted as he ran in. he had white hair, like the boy she'd ran into before, and the golden eyes, but he seemed less calm. Turning to her right, she nearly jumped. Sighing, Kagome realized the temperamental boy was running towards them.
He stopped, turning to her.
"Kikyo? KIKYO!!!" he threw his arms around her and Kagome winced, narrowing her eyes.
"Get off me you asshole!" Kagome hissed loudly. Fortunately, the teacher was out. <School hasn't started yet. They're just early, remember?>
"I'm. not… her! Never say that name in front of me if you want to live!" Kagome snapped tightly, gritting her teeth.
"Why? Hey, you are Kikyo. Why are you denying it?"
"I TOLD YOU TO NEVER CALL ME THAT…. BITCH'S NAME!!!" Kagome shouted, slamming the unfortunate soul on to the floor.
Growling, Kagome released him abruptly, sensing the teacher. She put on a calm and her fingers curled up into fists.
"Kikyo-"
"Shut up!" Kagome snapped. Resisting the urge to twist a knife into his heart.
"Bastard," Kagome muttered.
"Kikyo, I don't understand-"
"NO!!!! DON'T SAY HER NAME!!!" Kagome screamed at him, frustrated. Kikyo walked in.
"Kikyo!" Inuyasha cast a confused look at them.
"I AM NOT KIKYO!!!" Kagome shouted, aware of the other boy sitting next her who was smirking, obviously amused.
"I am Kikyo. Hello Inuyasha. Dear sister." Kikyo acknowledged.
Kagome didn't look at Kikyo, her skin crawling as Kikyo walked closer.
"Get away. I am not you." Kagome said coldly to her older twin.
"Yes you are. Isn't she, Inuyasha?" she asked innocently. Inuyasha just looked confused.
"Dammit, you mean you're Inuyasha?" Kagome hissed.
"Yeah, so what?"
"I'm supposed to shadow you today." Kagome muttered, ripping a piece of paper to shreds.
"Anger management." The boy next to her said, amused. He twirled a pencil between his fingers boredly.
"Yes, I've been there for three years and it fucking doesn't work." Kagome intoned bleakly, a grimace touching her face.
"Hi. I'm Sesshoumaru." He said, extending his hand to her.
"Kagome. And I don't do the whole touchy-feely stuff," Kagome said, glaring at Inuyasha ruefully, obviously not forgetting the hug.
"Oh, Kagome?" the teacher asked.
"Yes?" Kagome asked.
"I made a mistake. You're to shadow Sesshoumaru. You have the same schedule."
"Thank you." Kagome muttered, sitting down, flexing her fingers, and imagining herself tearing Inuyasha to shreds.
Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her clouded eyes and flexing fingers. "What are you doing?"
"In my world. Ripping the Bastard into shreds." She said simply, adding, "I'm the living proof that anger management doesn't work."
"I see." Sesshoumaru smirked slightly. He liked this girl. <A/N: hint HINT!!!!!>
Kagome followed Sesshoumaru around the school reluctantly. It was lunch time, and outside it was bright and Kagome frowned. She took one look at the food and grabbed a book and began doing her homework. Sesshoumaru and half the population of the students were staring blankly at her.
"Oh so now you're starving yourself? Though it would make all your fat go away," Kikyo said, smirking.
"Actually, if you starve yourself, you get fatter. Your metabolism slows down and your body stores up fat because it doesn't know when the next time you'll eat. And you start growing more hair on your arms and legs because your body thinks you're freezing." Kagome stated plausibly.
"Shut up." Kikyo snapped. The group of girls giggled, looking slightly nervous. It was obvious they didn't eat.
"Why don't you?" Kagome bit out, returning to her homework.
"KIKYO!!!!" Inuyasha shouted, hugging Kagome.
"I. Told. You. I. Don't. Do. The. Touchy. Feely. STUFF!!!!" Kagome screamed, kicking Inuyasha.
"What the hell? Oh, you're not Kikyo." Inuyasha's eyes showed disgust.
"Hell no. Get the fuck away, you bastard," Kagome said frostily, back going rigid at Inuyasha's clear revulsion.
"Hey!" Inuyasha said, huffing.
"…" Kagome returned to her homework, gritting her teeth.
"Don't call me a bastard, wench."
"WENCH?! Alright, that is so it." Kagome slammed her book closed and slammed hr fist into Inuyasha's face.
"MY." Slam. "Name." Kick. "Is." Punch. "Kagome!!!!!" she swung her foot lower and made him trip, knocking the air out of him. "I." Kick. "Have." Slam. "Been." Punch. "Trying." Kagome kicked him in the side. "To." Another slam in the face. "Be. Patient. But. You. Aren't. HELPING!!!!!!" Kagome shoved him down and stepped away from the dizzy and scowling Inuyasha.
The crowd oohed and ahhed.
Kagome grabbed her books and homework, stalking to the library.
After lunch and many ripped papers, Kagome finally relaxed. The librarian glared at her when she almost forgot to clean up the pile of previously absolutely good paper.
Kagome grumbled to herself the rest of the day, forgetting Souta except when she had already was a few blocks away from her house. "Oh well, I'll do it tomorrow," she said to herself, feeling a slight twinge of guilt at forgetting.
When she got home, Kagome collapsed on her bed, not allowing anyone in her bedroom. Her mother knocked on her door, but Kagome couldn't hear her due to the headphones blasting music in her ears.
The night seemed to come early for Kagome, making her yawn over the boring and easy homework. She finished it all around eight, falling asleep immediately after.
