[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A/N: Hi everyone! Thanks to everyone who actually said something. It's going to get a little slower, but don't worry! I'm not going to die, or anything horrible, though lots may like that. This will turn into a Sess/Kag, just a warning. If you don't like them, run now. (AND TAKE YOUR FLAMES WITH YOU!!!! DO NOT SET MY STORY ON FIRE!!!!!!!

**BZZT BZZT BZZT**

Kagome groaned slightly before turning off her alarm clock. Sitting up tiredly, she smiled slightly. Her room was still covered with boxes marked with her neat handwriting.

Kagome got up, stretching slightly. She yawned and blinked. To her right, the window open, the green curtains flittered softly in the summer wind.

glancing at her alarm clock, Kagome groaned slightly. Five-o-clock. Wonderful. She stretched slightly, telling herself, `Better early than late.' There seemed to be a slight dullness in the house.

Frowning, Kagome tried to shake off the feeling that there was something terribly, horribly wrong.

Dressing in an outfit that consisted of a pair of leather pants, a red shirt, and a black trench coat, Kagome washed her face and brushed her teeth, going downstairs.

Kagome froze for a second when she heard crying and hushed comforting.

"…" Kagome walked over to where they were sitting, confused.

"Why are you up already-"

"Shut up!" Her grandfather hissed in a very uncharacteristic way.

Taken aback, Kagome blinked slightly.

"Souta…. Souta…" Her mother cried.

"What? What about Souta?"

"Why don't you- oh yes. I forgot!" he mother looked angrily at her. "You….. Souta… was hit by a car. You promised you'd walk him home! YOU PROMISED ME!!! YOU PROMISED HIM TOO!!!!"

Kagome felt tears prickling behind her eyelids. She had promised. But she was so hung up on Inuyasha and Kikyo she forgot…

"Leave this house, Kagome. Don't come back for a long time." Her grandfather whispered.

"I…" Kagome nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat, she numbly walked over and picked up her backpack, eyes hollowing every inch she moved away from the house. Kagome's feet took her automatically to the school, it being the only place her mother had trusted her to go to.

Tears ran down her face. Why? WHY? Why hadn't it been her? She deserved it. So much more than Souta did. he hadn't done ANYTHING wrong…

"Kami why?" Kaogme found herself whispering the cool fall sky. The air had a slight chill to it, but Kagome didn't notice as she walked in the tall doors. She stopped by her locker and slammed her fist into it, tears running freely down her face.

"Why? Why couldn't it have been me?" She whispered. Curling into a small ball and sobbing, Kagome didn't notice the silhouetted form nearing her smoothly.

"Who are you?" The man asked, cold gold eyes (That should be enough to tell who it is) staring down at her.

"You can't be the same girl who shouted at Inuyasha yesterday. She would never cry. You aren't the girl who didn't swoon over me yesterday-"

"You can't judge me for one day." Kagome whispered.

"Can't I? I knew that was you, the true you that you try to hide."

"You would be crying too if your brother was dead. And it was your fault."

"Actually, I would be drinking champagne and having a party," Sesshoumaru said calmly.

"What if it was your younger sister?" Sesshoumaru inwardly winced at the mention of Tora.

"I would be thanking kami for taking her away," he grumbled, knowing it wasn't true.

"Hah."

"…" Sesshoumaru knew she was right. He wouldn't be happy if Tora died, no matter how annoying the hyper speedy demon (and he uses that term loosely) was.

"Sesshoumaru, you really shouldn't judge me for one day," Kaogme said, restating her proclamation.

"Hmm. And you shouldn't judge me for one day either."

"Have I judged you now?" Kagome asked expectantly.

"Yes."

"Fine. I give up. But some people sometimes need to mourn. And that some person is me." Kagome said flatly.

Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes mildly. "I never said you couldn't mourn. Just don't cry," He mumbled the last part. He hated it when girls cried. (aww)

"Oh, now that's sweet," Kagome said, softening.

"What? I just don't like the stickiness," he muttered, glaring at her. Kagome managed a small smile, but it vanished as Kagome scolded herself, "You aren't supposed to be happy when your brother's dead."

The two talked comfortably, sitting in the middle of an empty hallway. They watched form the roof as the sun slowly rose, basking in it's own glory. Kagome busied herself with watching Sesshoumaru's eyes while he watched the sun. the clouds seemed over color of the rainbow, spread out like wildfire.

~~~~~~~~~~ (turn time back a little)~~~~~~~~~~~
The morning chill didn't effect the cloaked and masked figure <A/N: I am SO not going to spoil the surprise, so I'll just call it an it for now….> as it crept up to the mourning shrine. (no I didn't spell that wrong)
Nimbly jumping, it entered the house, quietly clicking open the blood thirsty blades.
~~~~~~~~~

Sesshoumaru stared at Kagome, eyes transfixed.

Kagome turned and blushed slightly.

They inched closer and closer.

~~~~~
The figure smirked at their silent screams, eyes wide with horror and held an emptiness it loved.
~~~~~

"OI! What'chya doing?" Inuyasha asked, making them spring apart as if burned.

Inuyasha didn't notice their closeness or their glares as he sat down.

"Well, we were talking before you rudely-" Sesshoumaru started.

Inuyasha interrupted. "Eh, okay. Anyway, did you hear?" He asked, eyes wide with anticipation.

"What?" Sesshoumaru asked, still annoyed.

"Uhm, I think I should tell you first, Sesshoumaru." Inuyasha mumbled.

"Fine," Sesshoumaru sighed, exasperated.

Kagome frowned as they went behind a different bookshelf, glancing at her every once in a while.

"Some one… murdered everyone at the Sunset Shrine. Whoever did it knew what they were doing. It was torched after they were tied up inside. Kagome lives at a Shrine, doesn't she?" Inuyasha asked. <A/N: Don't ask how he knew…. That's a surprise…>

"Yes."

"Hey, Kagome? Uhm… Where do you live?"

"The Sunset Shrine." Kagome asked, shrugging mildly.

Inuyasha took a breath. "Uh…."

"I think we have some bad news for you." Sesshoumaru said quietly.

~~~~~~
The sirens blared as the house was doused with water. But it was in vain. The house was drenched with gasoline, so much that the neighbors (uhm sure) called the police, complaining. The firemen tried to soak the house, but the gold crimson flames licked up the sides of the wall, but everyone who had gathered could hear the anguished screams of the people trapped inside.
The masked intruder watched silently as the police frantically searched for any ways in or any ways to help.
None, of course, could be found.
The intruder slipped away in to the foggy morning.
~~~~~~

"…I…" Kagome whimpered as Sesshoumaru quietly told her the information.

Kagome finally collapsed in sobs. Inuyasha watched enviously (uh oh big word you know what that means…) as Kagome was held and comforted by Sesshoumaru.

"Why… How…." Kagome cried.

Inuyasha slunk darkly off into the school, sullenly moping.

As he got further and further away from the crying of the girl he knew he wanted, the air seemed to thicken (uh oh).

"Huh?" Inuyasha said, blinking.

A small tap on his right shoulder made him swerve around-

To face-

"Kikyo?" Inuyasha asked, voice dazed. She had her school uniform on, her hair done up Miko style. She seemed fuzzy, almost dream like.

"Inu-chan…" Kikyo laughed.

"I didn't know you went to school this early," Inuyasha said, backing up.

"Oh Inu-chan, I thought you loved me," Kikyo whispered, eyes taunting and haunting him as his eyes widened.

"I-I do! What are you talking about Kikyo? I love you!"

"Inu-chan. Why were you thinking of her?" Kikyo asked sweetly,

"Hmm? I-"

"Inuyasha, tell me the truth." Kikyo said, suddenly cold.

"I- I just was thinking of the murder of her family." Inuyasha protested.

"You're trying to get both of us. You'll end up with nothing." The misty figure disappeared.
