Chapter One
Three years and two months of; jewel hunting, killing demons, arguing, crying and it was over. They had found the rest of the jewel shards, found Naraku’s castle and after two months of fighting it was over. Naraku stood no chance. Kagome was tired of fighting; ready to end it, called the jewel to her, and made it whole. Wishing for the power to defeat Naraku and restore peace, she took the jewel into herself, after a strong flash of white light that followed across Japan, Naraku was nothing but dust.
She and the group went back to Kaede’s, only to break up and go their own ways. Miroku, Sango and her brother Kohaku went back to repopulate the slayer village. Her, Shippo and Inuyasha stayed at Kaede’s. Kagome stayed because of the well, Shippo stayed because of Kagome and Inuyasha stayed because of Kagome, or was it because Kikyou was still alive?
She had found out his real reason for staying, this faithful day when Kikyo appeared and he went to her, spending his day with her in plain view of everyone. Thankfully, he didn’t kiss her but they did hug before they parted. When Inuyasha and Kagome’s eyes met, she for some reason ran and fast into the forest.
So here she was, sitting in this clearing of some sort, crying her eyes out once more, cursing herself for loving him.
“Miko, what are you doing out here, alone?” The stoic voice of the Taiyoukai asked from behind her.
She gasped in shock and wiped the tears from her eyes. “What does it matter to you Sesshomaru?”
“Lord Sesshomaru…” He growled low. “A miko who carries the Shikon comes into the forest alone with no weapons is certainly asking for death.” He said knowing that demons were in the immediate area.
“I can take care of myself thank you very much.” She said standing power radiating from her. So it was true, the miko was powerful, more than the Taiyoukai himself. Kagome was rather surprise at how many demons were in the area now that she had felt for them. “Leave now.” She called out looking around the tree line. A smirk played at her lips when they did just that. “See?” She replied letting her aura and power fade but letting that smirk linger on her lips a while longer.
“Indeed.” He said before taking a quick bow to her. “Why does a miko so powerful hang with such a hanyou as my brother?”
Kagome still shocked from the bow spurted out her answer. “Because he…I travel with him because…” Sesshomaru cocked an eyebrow at her, wondering why she didn’t know her answer, seeing this she snapped out of her shocked state and replied. “Your brother may be a hanyou but he is powerful and honorable.” She said folding her arms.
“Powerful...yes.” He said glancing at his still missing arm. “Honorable?” He again raised an eyebrow. “A hanyou who leaves his pack to see his dead past is not honorable.” He added, his eyes locking intensively with hers.
Kagome’s eyes glazed over and she looked away. “You don’t know him.” She whispered.
“I know enough to say that you should leave him.” He said watching the way her hands clinched and she tried to hold back her unshed tears.
“We aren’t together.” She exhaled.
“Yet you pledge your life and heart to him.” He said stepping within arms reach of her. “Knowing he will never return your feelings.” Swallowing the lump in her throat she looked up at him. “I’ve been watching you miko, ever since we first met. When it comes to the hanyou you only cry or are angry.”
“Well yea but I have Shippo, Sango and Miroku which helps me balance out my feelings.” She said with a weak smile.
“When it comes to the hanyou I have never truly seen you happy miko.” He stated his eyes narrowing at her stubbornness. Why couldn’t she admit it.
“Well….”
“My brother will never learn from his mistakes.” He said lifting her chin so that he could look into her eyes. “See that before it’s too late.” He added before leaning in and pressing his lips against her own. Kagome’s eyes opened wide as his lips touched her own, she didn’t responded nor did she fight. “This Sesshomaru will be watching. If the hanyou hurts you any more, I will take you from him.” He said gently pulling away from her lips and releasing her chin. “Remember what you’ve been told, Kagome.” He stated before he completely disappeared.
