The Inu-hanyou in question, kicked his feet all the way to the god tree where Kikyo was waiting, he had hurt Kagome. No, he had scarred her and he knew this, but what could he do now. Miroku and Sango were going to skin him alive when he returned in the morning. Looking up at the stars, he sighed, wondering how things would be between him and them now.


“Inuyasha?” Kikyo called walking over to him from under the god tree where she stood. “Are you alright?” She asked reaching out and touching his cheek.


Cold, she was cold to the touch, had she always been? “Yes, I am fine.” He replied dully his eyes far gone.


“I take it you told her then?” She asked and he nodded in response as he brushed her hand lightly away. “What is it that bothers you, my love?”


“None of them will talk to me any more, this I am sure.” He said sitting down on a root.


“I am sure they all understand that no one can deny the heart.” She replied kneeling next to him. Staring at the ground he said nothing. “They will forgive you, I know it.” She added lay a hand on his knee reassuringly.


“Forgive him, hmm, what makes you think he deserves it?” Sesshomaru’s cold voice came from behind the tree.


Jumping up, in front of Kikyo, Inuyasha grabbed Tetsusaiga’s hilt. “What the fuck are you doing here Sesshomaru?”


“I would say it is no concern of yours but I’m afraid I am here because of you and your foolishness.” He replied as he slowly stepped out from behind the tree, his head slightly down so that his bangs were covering his faces. “Brother.” He added lifting his head, his blood red eyes glowing in the moon light.


Kikyo eyes went wide and she stepped back, realizing she was defenseless; Inuyasha was also surprised at his brother appearance. “W-what did I do that concerns you?” He asked swallowing the lump of terror that risen in his throat.


“Tell me brother how does one choose the dead over the living?” He asked his lips turning up in a quick smirk as Inuyasha’s scent spike confusion.


“W-what?” Inuyasha stuttered.


“Why does one break the heart of an innocent by choosing a creature without one?” Inuyasha could say nothing as his brother words sunk in. “Tell me brother, how could you throw away something so precious and priceless for something like such?” he added turning his cold eyes to Kikyo who in turn glared at him. “It would be wise to tell your bitch not to glare at one such as myself unless she wishes to find her miserable existence cut short.”


Kikyo went to retort but Inuyasha growled at her telling her to listen. “Look Sesshomaru, why don’t you just get to the point of why you are here so we can both be on our way.”


Sesshomaru smirked, a perfect pointed fang poking out from between his lips as he did so. “If that is what you wish, dear brother.” He replied his smirk growing into a deathly grin, as he cracked his fingers, which glowed green and began dripping poison.





Kagome lay silently in bed, her eyes staring off into the distance she was dead to the world lost in a darkness of the sky.


Shippo lay just above her head trying to fall asleep but shot up as he felt a rather strong and fast approaching demonic aura. “Mama?!” Kagome heard him but made no notion of it. “Mama, a demon’s coming.” He said his fur bristling. Sango and Miroku heard his statement and got up out of bed reading themselves for a fight. His eyes grew wide as he realize who it was that was coming. “S-Sesshomaru, it’s…it’s Sesshomaru.”


“What? Are you sure Shippo?” Sango asked rather confused as to why Sesshomaru would be heading towards them and now.


“Yes, it is rather implausible that he would come all this way at this indecent hour.” Miroku replied not believing Shippo either.


“No no I am sure it’s him and he’s headed right…right…” Shippo said and with every word his eyes grew larger.


“Right where Shippo?” Sango asked wanting to know where he would attack from.


“Right to the, well?” Shippo said his voice and face showing confusion.


‘The well, hmm I wonder why?’ Kagome asked herself. ‘This Sesshomaru will be watching. If the hanyou hurts you any more, I will take you from him.’ Sesshomaru’s words repeated in her head. Kagome shot up her eyes as big as saucers. “No, Sesshomaru.” She whispered before it all total sunk in. Throwing off her covers she climbed up and out of bed, forgetting about her shoes she took off to the well. ‘No, please…’


“Kagome?!” “Lady Kagome?!” “Mama?!” They all called before following.


Panting and feet hurting from the rocky dirt path, Kagome slowly climbed up the small mound that lead to the well. Once at the top the clinging of metal filled the air along with a string of profound words that of course belonged to the Inu-hanyou and several deep growls from the Taiyoukai. Kikyo stood by the tree holding her breathe. Kagome couldn’t believe this; did Sesshomaru really mean what he said? Did he really care about her? Unconsciously her hand went to her lips and her breathing hitch as realizations of the situation set in. ‘He’s going to kill him.’ She couldn’t let that happen no matter how much he had hurt her, she couldn’t let him die. “No, stop.” She whispered unable to find her voice.


Their swords met again and Sesshomaru couldn’t help smirk as he notice his brother was growing tired. “What’s wrong, tired, brother?” He asked pushing his brother off then charged up his sword with jaki.


Inuyasha came to a skidding stop but quickly regained his bearings and just in time to see Sesshomaru charging at him, growling he charged as well.


“No.” Kagome called out again a little louder this time.


“Kagome.” Sango called as they had just reached her but as she reached out to touch her shoulder the miko took off running towards the battle. “Kagome!”


‘I DON’T WANT THIS!’ Her mind screamed knowing she would never be able to live with it.


‘You will die this night hanyou.’ Sesshomaru thought his sword poised at the read.


Inuyasha couldn’t hide his smirk if her wanted to. ‘Fucking bastard, I’ll run through you with my sword.’


“NO!”
