Chapter Two: A Meal,and Runaway
The house was absolutely silent. I decided I needed to change that.... my mother should be in the study with Lord Inutashio. And I'm getting hungry. I hope they won't mind the interuption...hehe. I walked down the hall and did not see my dear fiancee. Where could he be? All well, doesn't really matter anyway. As I neared the library I heard two voices. One being my mother's the other the Lord's.
"Do you think they are getting along?" my mother asked worriedly.
"I hope so. There are not many more options," Inutashio said.
"Have you has trouble as well finding a suitable wife for Sesshomaru?" So that's his name....
"Yes. The mothers complain about the lack of emotion. They do not want their daughters married to an emtionless man. So what problems have you had with your daughter?"
My mother sighed. "Well, many prob-"
"Mama!" I yelled running into the library and onto my mother's lap. "I am hungry!"
"Kagome, you know better than to ran in here like that!" my mother said.
"But mama!"
"No 'buts'.Now, where's Sesshomaru?"
"I do not-"
"Right here."
We all turned to see him standing there with that same bored tone and same bored expression. "Sessy! Where did you go?"
He glared at me. "Do not call me that degrading name." He stated plainly.
"Why not? It is quite easy than saying Sesshomaru." I replied and smiled after recieving another glare.
"Kagome." I turned to look at my mother. She looking quite amused with my little name for him. "If he request for you not to call him that name, than do not call him it."
I pouted. "Yes, mama." I turned to look at Sesshomaru again. "Where did you go, Sesshomaru?"
He looked at me but did not reply. "Dinner is ready, my Lady and Lord." We all turned now to look at a maid in the doorway.
"We will be there shortly." Inutashio told the maid and she left.
"Come on! Let's go!" I said joyful and skipped out of the room. I skipped all the way to the dinning room and sat down in my sit and was not that surprised when I had to wait a while for the other three to arrive. The table was set and there was food already decorating the table. When the others sat down Sesshomaru was across from me, Inutashio sat at the head with Mrs.Higirashi sitting next to him on one side, while I was sitting down a chair from her. The seat next to Inutashio was not taken and neither the seat next to it. "Whom are the other seats for, Mama?"
"My wife and younger son will be joining us, " Inutashio answered.
I turned to Sesshomaru. "I did not know you had a brother."
"Half-brother," Sesshomaru corrected immediately.
"Oh really? He's still your brother," I said and smiled at his glare I received and said something else before he could say anything. "Lord Inutashio?"
"Yes?"
"Will they be arriving soon?" I asked. At my mother's look of interest I continued. "I'm sure we're all hungry." My mother scowled out me for a second but remember who was there and stopped.
"They should be arriving any time now." As if on que the door bell rang.
"I'll get it!" I yelled before anyone could say or do anything else. I skipped to the door happy as ever. Not only was I getting on my fiancee's nerves but now his brother was coming as well. Oh, tonight was going to be so much fun!
"Good evening," I said, mimiking Sesshomaru's phrase from early. In the door way stood a beautiful woman with long black tresses pulled into a loose ribbon along her back. Beside her was a boy with long silver-white hair, not as long as Sesshomaru's, but long still. He even has those same eyes though his held emotion. All his emotion was clear in his eyes and right now it was clear that he was very annoyed.
"Good evening," the woman said. "Might you be Kagome?"
"Yes. Might you be the lovely wife of Lord Inutashio and you the youngest son, and brother, of my soon to be husband?" I replied, sarcasm laced in "soon to be husband" but neither seemed to notice or just didn't mind.
"Yes. This is my son, Inuyasha." she said as Inuyasha opened his mouth to say something but closed it, she pushed her son forward.
"Hello, Inuyasha." I said smiling at him.
"Feh," he said looking away. I didn't like him already. He was just as arrongant as his brother.
"Shall we go eat? I'm sure you both are hungry, I sure am." I said moving away from the doorway, allowing the two to enter.
"We shall," she said smiling at me and I smiled back.
"This way," I said leading the way. I liked their mother at least. Well, his step-mother.
~*~*~*~*After Dinner, in the Library*~*~*~*~
Dinner was uneventful as always. Afterwards though, the adults had gona out onto the porch to talk and sent us into the library. "Sooo," I said trying to start some sort of conversation instead of the weird silence. "You to don't get along very well, huh?"
"So you figured that out, wench," Inuyasha said glaring at her. Sesshomaru had been staring out the window looking off into space for the past ten minutes they had been in there and Inuyasha had sat at a table glaring a his back while I walked around eyeing books disinterestly.
"I have a name ya know!" I yelled at him.
"Feh." Inuyasha said and went back to glaring at Sesshomaru instead. I stomped in front of him.
"Don't you 'feh' me you little brat," I snapped, all he had said to me was "Feh" the whole time here and then when he does speak he calls me a wench! "I have a name. Say it with me. Ka-go-me."
"Who you calling little brat?! I'm older than you!" he spat at me.
"Well, you dont act like it!" I spat back.
"Yes I do!"
"No you dont!"
"Yes I do!"
"No you dont!"
"Yes I do!"
"Yes you do!"
"No I don't!"
"HA! So you do agree with me!" I laughed in triumph. Inuyasha looked at me dumbfounded. "Good night, I am going to bed now. I am mighty tired." I said and left the room and upstairs before they could even try and stop me.
~*~*~*Kag's Bedroom*~*~*~
I watched as the carriage left from my bedroom window. It was late at night and my mother had come in early, and in thinging I was asleep left. I was leaving tonight. What I had told Sesshomaru was true. Life isn't about what you want, but what you have. But some things can be changed. Like to led a life I think is worth living. And that's exactly what I'm going to do.
I picked up my small bag that only had some of my play clothes in it and some other needed items and walked out of my room. I walked downstairs quietly, not making a single sound. I went around to the back and walked out of the house and into the night. The sky was spotted with tons of stars and the moon shone brightly.
I walked into the stable and got a horse and rode it to the nearest town that was not my own new one. There I let the horse go in a nearby field and he trotted away happily.
To be free. It was a great feeling, I thought walking to the edge of the fiels to a cliff and looked over towards the harbor.
I'm almost there.
I'm almost free.
