Chapter 12: Come Undone
The bedroom window was taped over with ducttape and plastic covering. Luckily, it had stopped raining. Sitting on her bed, Kagome leafed through a novel that was suppose to be for school. It was "Romeo and Juilet"; indeed, something we have all read once in school. She yawned, as she tried to decipher the lines of each character. After a while, she gave up and closed the book, laying her head down on a downy pillow. Sango hadn't called her all day, and the only thing that played in her mind was Inuyasha. Forever melting amber orbs, cologne, and cigarettes.
She sighed, closing her eyes, wishing to just throw it all away and stay in his arms forever. That is, if she could. But that would be wrong...
Her eyes shot open, "Why should it be wrong, dammit?! If this happened, fate had to have played a part!"
Kagome started, when she heard a crash outside. She jumped up and looked out the window that wasn't shattered. Nothing, but darkness awaited her searching eyes. She shrugged, letting the curtain fall back into place, "Man, I'm losing it."
Then another strange sound from outside. She walked back over to find a white blur jumping into the window. She could only let out a yelp, before she was pinned to her mattress. Hands secured her arms behind her back, and her face was pushed against the covers. Kagome had to cough, before she could say anything.
"WHAT THE FUCK?!"
She could hear the person's heavy breathing. Well, more like, a man's breathing. She felt a rope wrap around her wrists, and then another one around her ankles. The man let go, and she turned herself over to look at the culprit.
"Sesshomaru?" She whispered, actually stunned.
He only nodded. Beside him, Jaken seemed flustered, "Lord, if I may..."
"No. Higurashi, I've been sent here to see to it that you never see my brother again."
Kagome's eyes widened, "And how do you plan on doing that? We go to the same fucking school!"
"Not anymore."
A chill ran down her spine, "What the hell does that mean, Sesshomaru?"
"You're leaving here," he voice was low, concise. It seemed Sesshomaru only spoke when he actually had something meaningful to say. Kagome swallowed, hard, 'Shit.'
"You're not making any sense," Kagome said, flatly.
"Jaken..."
The toad immediately stood upright, "Yes, my Lord?"
Sesshomaru motioned him with one hand to explain. Jaken nodded, approached the apprehensive girl, cleared his throat, and stated, "You're gonna die."
Kagome blinked, "Oh."
"But, my Lord isn't going to do it. Naraku is," Jaken further explained, "it seems your 'relationship' with the hanyou is quite unhealthy. It will mess up the natural balance between humans and demons. Naraku won't allow such a thing. So, you're gonna die. Get it?"
"Well, um, not really..." Kagome muttered, wishing to stab the toad with one of her high-heels.
"Whatever," Sesshomaru suddenly forwarded, "I don't really care. You're coming with us."
"Like hell I am! I'm staying right-" But Kagome didn't finish, as Sesshomaru lifted her up and onto his shoulder, jumping out into the moonless night.

Inuyasha paced back and forth in front of the fireplace. He was in the lounge of the house his father, Inu-Taisho, owned. Normally, Sesshomaru would be in here as well giving the hanyou more hell about his human heritage. Tonight was the new moon. The night he turned mortal. His claws would become fingernails, his eyes a dark violet, his fangs would dissapear, and his hair faded into black. He hated these nights. It proved he did have a weakness.
Plus, it would flood him with mortal emotions, which he considered useless.
But this moonless night, his thoughts were filled Kagome. And, strangely enough, it was actually nice to feel this way about someone. But Inuyasha would never tell Kagome that, and he didn't want her to see him like this. It might change her feelings about him. Maybe it would turn her away. Either way, he was still paranoid.
"Inuyasha?"
He looked up to find his mother, Izayoi, standing in the doorway. She was still such a beauty, even after all the years. Inuyasha tried his best to smile, and it turned out to be a lot easier then it had been before, "Yes?"
"Is Sesshomaru here?" She questioned, one trimmed eyebrow arching up slightly.
"No."
"I don't mean to bother you on such a night, Inuyasha, but could you fetch him for me?"
He hesitated, not wanting to be an ass, but also not wanting to have to deal with an even bigger ass. He sighed, long and deep, before answering, "Fine, mother."
"Thank you, dear," with that, she departed.
If Inuyasha still had his claws, he'd been scratching the expensive wallpaper off the walls.

"Kagome Higurashi. How nice of you to join us," Naraku's low voice greeted the pissed off girl in front of him. Sesshomaru had dropped her as soon as he reached the basement, nodding for Jaken to leave. Kagome groaned, and shifted herself into a cross-legged position on the cold concrete floor. Naraku gave her a rare smile, and asked, "Cigar? Wine?"
She rolled her eyes, "Why bother? You're just gonna kill me."
Naraku's features seemed to show that he was shocked at her words, "And who told you that?"
"The little toad that follows around Sesshomaru," she said, simply. The inu-youkai behind her made a face and glared daggers at her back. Naraku shook his head, waving his hands around, "Absolutely not, dear Kagome. I wasn't going to kill you."
Kagome looked confused, "What?! Then why did you kidnap me?!"
"I wish only to keep you and Inuyasha apart. You see, youkai and human alike agree that your relationship isn't all that 'clean'. Imagine, for example, a fish and bear mating..."
Kagome stuck out her tongue in disgust at that image. Naraku noticed this and nodded, "Exactly. Disgusting. That's how it is with you and Inuyasha."
She glared at him, anger burning in her brown eyes, "You have no right to judge us!"
"Well, you're quite wrong about that. I have every right. I suppose you haven't noticed, but I am God here, Kagome. I rule Tokyo, and everyone in it."
"Then, why are you going to high school?"
"Its simply a cover. You wouldn't believe how old I truly am," Naraku replied, thoughtfully, "when you were a mere child, I was ruling here."
Kagome sighed, obviously bored and frustrated, "That's wonderful... whatever. But why am I here?"
"I'm here to offer you something. Better than the hanyou."
"What?"
"Me."
