InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Predestination ❯ Predestination 8 ( Chapter 8 )
When they entered western lands she was resting against his chest half awake holding on to her kit. Even though he wouldn't particularly mind if the little runt would fall, thus getting out of the miko's arms and not ruin her smell. He loved the way she smelled it was captivating, even though he tried to talk himself out of liking the smell, but each time she would come near him the honey and rose scent would send his senses into a frenzy. He peeked down at her to see her pressing the slightly shivering infant kit to her warm breast. Dear Kami it took all will power not to sling that child as far as he could physically throw. He listened and watched covertly as she hummed a beautiful tune to the kit to relax him, and he watched as the kit responded by snuggling in deeper. A growl escaped his defenses and vibrated his chest and the miko lying upon it.
She felt a vibration on Sesshoumaru, weird she thought, as she turned around to investigate. But he was staring straight ahead as if nothing ever happened. She shrugged it off just hoping that it wasn't some type of youkai thing to just growl, vibrate or whatever whenever.
What was he thinking, why was he even thinking this way about her. He Sesshoumaru the taiyoukai of the western lands, getting jealous over a lower infant youkai. It was just unacceptable, from this point on he thought he would have to learn to control the strange thoughts and urges around her. Even though she was a beautiful and acceptable female inu youkai, he would not harbor such thoughts. She was a forced ally.
As they flew he caught a certain smell, smoke! He quickly looked to where the direction was coming from, he looked to see a huge fire in the eastern parts of his lands.
"Oh My Kami!" he looked down to see Kagome's eyes huge in shock.
He said nothing, he wrapped his arms around her form tighter as he steered the dragon towards it. As they approached his thoughts were confirmed, it was the ningen village he allowed to stay on his land, and it was being attacked by fire demons. Some of the villagers were either trapped inside a burning hut or being cornered by a youkai. Some of his patrolling soldiers were there killing off most of the youkai. He nodded at the leader of the squad and started to leave.
"What are you doing!!" Kagome shouted, she couldn't believe he was going to leave and let the villagers die.
"It is not my concern, I want only the invading youkai dead." He said coolly his stoic face ever present. He grabbed the reins to take off, he never expected to hard shove though, moving him and distracting him just enough to leap in the air towards the danger. He growled and went after her.
She landed near the people cornered by the fire youkai. They were backed against some rocks by the youkai huddled together. The men stood in front of the women and the children doing their best to protect them. The fire demon was slashing at him mercilessly with his claws. She wanted to send a purification ball at him but she was just so angry she couldn't believe what they were doing to these poor people. Everything started to slow down. Without thinking she grabbed the youkai by the neck, effortlessly she picked him up and slung him towards the burning hut. She heard his screams of agony but she didn't care she was just so mad, her fury was burning through her like a storm. She looked down at her hands top see that her claws were about five to six inches long. She turned to see five fire demons coming straight for her, but it was like they were moving so slow. Two started slashing at her with their claws but she avoided them like feathers. Ducking the other three's streams of fire she sent a dozen purification balls at them, all hitting their target with a deadly aim leaving ashes in their wake. She turned to see Sesshoumaru guards staring at her while Sesshoumaru killed the last youkai, turning towards her she saw shock in his eyes. But she didn't care, she was already turning towards the burning hut.
As he rushed after her he was intervened by a swarm of fire youkai. He slaughtered them quickly with his whip, he quickly turned towards the direction she ran but he heard a familiar little scream he turned to see the kit backing away from a youkai. Knowing it would be far worst to see her reaction about her kit than his suffering with the kit, he unsheathed his sword and sent a spray of power to the opposing youkai before it could strike. As he and his soldiers killed their last prey he noticed the direction they were looking in, standing before them in a torn miko's outfit was a slowly transforming Kagome. He couldn't hid his shock as he stared at her long hair blowing wildly in the wind, while her eyes and hands glowed a deep indigo, with the fire blazing behind her she gave him a look of anger before leaping into the burning hut with the trapped villagers.
The soldiers watched as their lord faced his mate and watched her jump away, but when they turned back he wasn't there. They all caught a glimpse of white go into the same building. Seconds later they witnessed their lady and lord burst through the top each holding a few villagers in each arm.
When the villagers huddled together they turned to their Lord and the Lady and bowed deeply.
Seeing there grateful faces made everything speed up again. She slowly looked around and realized that she saved those people. Oh my kami she thought, she could feel the strange stares from the soldier's but most of all she could feel Sesshoumaru's inquisitive one digging into her back. Deciding to ignore him she bowed in return to the people and gave them a huge smile. She was about to say something to them but a shivering and crying furball collided with her chest.
"Wow mommy you just went crazy and killed a lot of youkai, it was just amazing, I was sitting her and thinking about the time…"
"Shippo why don't you tell me after we get to the castle ok?"
"Are Thanks to the Lady and the Lord of the western lands, for graciously saving us while our hunters were away." One of the men said obviously speaking for the entire group. He bowed deeply before her.
This was way too much, she quickly grabbed the guy by his shoulders, "please don't its ok I was just glad to help, even though I have no clue how I did," she said smiling and scratching her head perplexed. "I'm just glad you're all alright." She said hugging the guy, she could tell he was shocked at first but quickly returned the hug with strength lifting her off the ground causing her to squeal in shock. The people cheered at the sight while the soldiers slowly started to clap at the strange sight of their lady hugging a ningen. The clapping and cheering stopped as a deep feral growl shook them and the ground, startling everyone to complete silence. She turned slowly to see Sesshoumaru staring at her with red eyes while his tail swayed angrily. Before she could blink, she was in his vice like embrace. Growling towards the head guard, he ordered him to escort the kit on the dragon to the palace. She was in the air on his youkai cloud before she could protest. Looking at his dark red eyes, she decided it best not to say a word. She looked around his arm to see that the trees looked like specks from their altitude. She squealed in shock and buried her face into his arm.
He smirked at her reaction but his anger was still ever present. He was mad at her for reacting without his permission. He couldn't believe she made herself angry and almost lost control of her youkai power over a bunch of ningens. But deep down even though he tried his best to say it wasn't true seeing her in the arms of that filthy human was almost his brink of control. But he was convinced it had to be the other things that set him off.
When she felt her feet hit the ground she backed up and looked around, she was standing on the balcony to her room. She looked out to see Sesshoumaru flying away. Did she upset him? Well it's not like she cared? She should be the one pissed at him he was the one going to leave those people to die. Trying not think of it she walked to the springs, she bathed leisurely thinking of the fight. Wondered what happened to me? She remembered how everything went slow, she remembered how weightless the youkai and humans were. It didn't make since she had been even angrier than that a million times before. Slowly thinking about it, it dawned on her. She recalled the time when Sesshoumaru got angry during one of their battles, he transformed into that huge dog. If she were to have stayed angry any longer, would she have turned into that?
Before she went to sleep that night, she looked out the window one last time before going to bed. Gosh Kagome, get a grip he is okay. Any ways why am I worried, why do I feel the need to apologize to him? After a while, she finally let her body succumb to sleep.
<Boom> <Bam> and a loud <clap> She jumped up and looked outside the thunder and lightening made her heart race. With out even thinking of putting a robe one or to where she was going she raced down the hall until she felt a familiar aura. She quickly knocked on the door, but another loud clap of thunder sent her flying in towards the now awake demon. She didn't even wait for a response she just ran around to the other side lifted the sheet and dove in. After another loud boom from the sky she was instantly molded into the demon lord's side.
He was awake the second he felt a violent tremor run down his spine. He was about to get up but he heard the knock, and then saw the black and blue blur hop into his covers. He looked down and to his left to see Kagome's eyes squeezed shut, he felt her body shake violently. He was never one on emotional stuff; hell, he never even received emotional gestures. As of now, he was completely clueless as to what he was supposed to do, on any normal occasion he would have killed the intruder and went back to sleep. But he couldn't to her, he heard her whimper as the storm grew louder by the second. Instinctively he wrapped his arm about her waist and drew her closer, while taking his hand and tilting her face towards his. Slowly her purplish eyes opened to reveal her fear. How could the same girl who slaughtered the offending youkai earlier with no need for his assistance come running to him so scared over a storm?
"I have always been scared of storms every since my dad died. He was the one to hold me during one, but since he died I have been alone through my storms." She chuckled nervously. Reaching up she brushed some of the long bangs from his graceful face, "I am sorry if I made you angry today, but leaving those people to die would kill my soul. Please forgive me." She asked letting her hand linger on his shoulder as if forgotten.
He grunted his reply, for he couldn't say a word. He never meet anyone quite like her. Other youkai female just were not quite right. He could feel her pleasant form beneath her thin sleeping garment, and he knew one thing sleeping with her would lead to her demise and his immense pleasure, and he had no desire to take her like that. Even though his youkai blood would be more than grateful to hear her soft cries of protest, then having them turn into an escalading cry of pleasure. But he couldn't just turn her away, he was ashamed to admit it but he liked how she turned to him for comfort.
She wasn't sure why she ran to him? And she was surprised he didn't throw her out, but she knew that she felt safe from the storm. She could feel the strength in his long arms, she had to admit that the heat radiating off his body was quite comforting. Yet again she succumbed to the comforting blackness.
He heard her breathing slow into a steady pace, and he watched the storm passing. But most importantly he could feel his youkai blood rising at his situation. Slowly he got up with her in his arms, he walked slowly to the wall directly in front of his bed. He slid open the door with his tale to reveal the suite adjoining his. The room was made for his father and mother, symbolizing their nonexistent love. As he stepped in he growled at the fireplace, causing a beautiful roaring fire to start for the cold room. He laid her down in the cushy bed, and covered her small form. He watched as she curled into a ball at the loss of his warmth, letting out a small whimper. As he walked back to his suite he left the door open in case of anything. He fell asleep easier; he admonished himself for it knowing that he liked having his miko so close.
