Chapter Ten

The next morning, Inuyasha and Kouga found themselves at he kitchen table under the harsh glare of the Lord Inutashio. The dog demon was unhappy, and his glare showed it.
"I cannot believe you went behind my back and did something this important without even asking!" Inutashio snapped.
"Sesshomaru took that bitch, Kagura for a mate without asking." Inuyasha protested, glaring at Kouga. "I didn't make the choice-he did."
"Kagura is pregnant with Sesshomaru's second child and he had no choice but mate her or I'd have kicked him out. You on the other hand are far too young for this!" He was almost yelling, enraged at the thought of his once supposed seme son now mated to a male. And a wolf male at that.
"Oh, so if Kouga were a female you'd be okay with this?" Inuyasha pouted a little.
"I don't care if you're gay-" Inutashio started but was cut off very rudely.
"Bi! I'm fucking bisexual!" Inuyasha yelled, not sure why he was yelling that. He didn't consider himself bi-sexual. He was straight.
"Inuyasha!" Kouga leapt to his feet. He threw one hand on the hanyou's shoulder and slammed him back down to sit in he chair. When his still tender brand hit the chair he yelped like a small puppy.
"What the fuck is with you two?" Inuyasha yelled, almost standing again but finding himself replanted in the chair.
Kouga's eyes narrowed to blue slits, "If you stand up one more time, I'll beat your ass, Inuyasha. Stop yelling at your father like that-he has every right to be upset. You have no right to act like a jackass about it!"
For the first time that day, Inutashio smiled, he liked this wolf's attitude and maybe this could work out for him. "Why, Kouga, I didn't know you could handle him so well."
"I am sorry we made this decision without asking you first but-I kinda lost control to my demonic side. I can promise you though- I will take care of him. I'll see to it he finished school-with high grades-and Ill provide for him while he finishes college." Kouga explained, his tone flat and serious, reeking of alpha.
"College? Who the hell said I was going to college?" Inuyasha yelled in annoyance, hating that his choices were being made for him.
"I did." Kouga growled. "You wanna be a rock star, I know. But damn it, that's not a certain career and I won't have you flipping burger somewhere! Oh no, no mate of mine, damn it."
"Inuyasha, you made a fine choice. I give you my blessing." Inutashio shook Kouga's hand heartily and turned to leave the room.
"No! Wait! Don't you dare bless this!" Inuyasha stood up and began a rant, a cold look from Kouga made him shut up.
"You should get to school before you're late, I need to think about finding another job." Kouga rubbed his chin.
"What the-so, now you're giving me damned orders?" Inuyasha glowered.
"Inuyasha, I don't have time for this-I gotta see if Gypsy decided to turn the tattoo parlor into a strip joint or not." Kouga sighed. "If she does, I'll have to find work elsewhere."
Inuyasha grabbed the army green book bag from the floor and stormed out the back door with a growled curse, this was quite possibly the worst day of his life. He couldn't believe he'd allowed Kouga to mark and brand him. The truth was he'd loved every minute of it, no matter how painful. He knew pain was temporary and sometimes very erotic. But what was better, was knowing that now he belonged to someone. That he was owned and someone cared enough to claim him-it was a feeling that thrilled him to the bone. He looked around at the bright sunny sky. Screw this-he was skipping today.

Sesshomaru bared his fangs, an anger like he'd never felt coursing through his body as he read the note left on his mother's bed. He read the clear round handwriting again before going in search of his father. He found the elder demon sipping coffee on the second floor balcony, contemplating the whole Naraku situation.
He sensed his son's arrival, "What is it? Your scent reeks of anger."
"That bitch! She double crossed and disgraced us." He snapped, a slight growl rumbling behind the words.
"What bitch?" Inutashio was afraid he knew. Sesshomaru handed him the letter he'd just found.

My dear Inutashio,

I apologize for this… but I am doing the only thing I can do to save my unborn grandchild and perhaps Sesshomaru. Naraku said he would kill Sesshomaru, Kagura and all their kids then come after you if I didn't give him Sounga. I am sorry-

Tsubaki.

He threw the paper down with a loud snarl, "That fucking woman doesn't know what she's done! If Naraku gets that sword he will seriously rule the world!"
"We have to go for it. He has my mate and unborn daughter! He may be coming for me and my son-or you." Sesshomaru shifted his weight.
"Sesshomaru, we cannot go rushing into things." Inutashio found himself talking to air. Driven solely on a seme moon charge, Sesshomaru had taken to the air and was hot on the scent of Kagura and Naraku. Ensuring that Jaken was there with the children, Inutashio followed.

The day wore on with no success for the two inu-demons, and they returned home to regroup. Kouga was growing more worried by the moment. The school had confirmed Inuyasha never showed up for any of his classes, and now at seven in the evening he still was no where to be found. A knock on the door drew Kouga' attention-Inutashio and Sesshomaru were conferring in the office with Myoga and Jaken about their next steps so Kouga took it upon himself to answer it.
Tsume looked at his son with dull eyes. "Can we have a word?"
"I don't really wanna speak to you," Kouga said, starting to shut the door. "My mate is missing and.."
"Fuck, this has something to do with Inuyasha." Tsume ran his hand into his slicked hair.
Kouga grabbed his collar and slammed him against the wall. "What the Hell, have you done to Inuyasha?"
"Nothing, Kouga!" He winced as he tried to breathe, "Let me go!"
"Tell me what you're going on about!" Kouga's eyes were narrowing, behind him a red tinged moon hung in the blue velvet sky.
"When I left Vegas I-I was in debt. I was in debt for loans I had with the Vegas ookami mob. They're looking for me, and I think they found me." Tsume looked away from the steel blue gaze that pierced his very soul.
"I don't give a damn about you, bastard. What does this have to do with Inuyasha?" Kouga's fist was shaking in anger; Tsume could feel it against his throat.
"They know you're my son, and that Inuyasha is your mate-they took him." He admitted slowly, relieved and shocked when he didn't feel sharp claws ripping out his claws.
Kouga looked like the panic in his was rising, and it was. "Where is the headquarters-where do I find it?"
"Son, you can't go rushing in there and…"
"The Hell I can't!" Kouga slammed the older wolf against the wall again, hoping to jar some common sense into him. "Now tell me where it is!"
"I don't know really, it's somewhere near Vince Street-but Kouga they said if I didn't have the money by sundown they'd kill him and well.." he nodded to the rising moon.
"I'm going to save Inuyasha, then I'm going to rip out your heart!" Kouga turned on his heel and took off at blazing speed for Vine Street.

Tsunade found Tsume sitting on the front porch with his face in his hands when she returned from the club. "Tsume? Right? You're Kouga's father."
"Yeah, but not for long. I need to find Inutashio but I can't get in." Tsume said with a sigh.
"Why do you need my husband?" Tsunade opened the large front door with her key.
"The mob kidnapped Inuyasha, and it was my fault. Kouga's gone after them but damn it he's under the spell of the Seme Moon and there's no telling what might happen." He explained.
Tsunade's eyes flashed amber, "Get off his porch and out of my sight before I kill you! Inuyasha was innocent in all this and you better pray he's okay!"
The older ookami muttered a long string of curses as he dove off into the darkness, Tsunade slammed her way into the office without knocking. "Inutashio, stop this. Inuyasha has been kidnapped."
Sesshomaru's eyes went hard; he silently loathed this woman who interrupted him getting his mate back. But Tsunade shot him an equally dirty glance and told the story.
When she was done, Inutashio looked at Sesshomaru with a downcast look. "You, Myoga, and Jaken go looking for Kagura. I'll catch up to you later. Does anyone know where Sephiroth is?"
Tsunade looked away, she knew. "We'll discuss that later-right now Inuyasha needs us."

Vine Street was mangled, a fruit cart was overturned, store front awnings were ripped and torn as if they'd been abused by the wind, three cars lay on their roof with a fourth smashed against the side of a brick building. The smell of smoke filled Inutashio's nose, he stopped and looked around for clues. He thought about asking some of the gawking locals what had happened, but his sharp ears caught the sound of someone talking--
"It was an ookami gone mad!" One old man described to a police officer. "He said something about his mate was in danger and when no one would give him the answers he wanted he just started tearing things apart until he flushed them out. They went east on Sunset Boulevard I think."
Inutashio turned to Tsunade, "Go help Sesshomaru, I'll handle this."
She didn't have time to argue, Inutashio took his dog form in a flash for blue light and took off after Kouga. Sunset Boulevard was strewn with trash, and a dozen more smashed cars. One in particular caught Inutashio's eye, it had a giant paw print on top of it.
"He's taken his wolf form." Inutashio nodded to himself, inhaling the scent of the ookami and following it. Kouga's usual spicy earthy scent was over cast with the scent of pure testosterone.
Kouga taking his wolf form, Inutashio knew, was a reaction to his mate being in danger and heavily influenced by the Seme Moon. It was to be expected with Kouga being an alpha wolf and all that he would have a bad reaction to his beloved being out in such a situation. However, Inutashio felt certain that had it not been the fourth night of the Seme Moon that the reaction would not have been so bad. Ahead he heard cars slamming on brakes and drivers yelling curses at something he assumed was Kouga.

Kouga was moving down Santa Monica Boulevard, making incredible time. The mob members who had Inuyasha tied, drugged, and gagged in the back of their car were weaving wildly in and out of traffic as they attempted to escape the three story tall wolf. In his wolf form, Kouga was as big as Inutashio and Sesshomaru; he was black with cutting green eyes that shone with a fearless fire. And he intimidated everyone.
Hiruki Amashi and his brother Kamal were the kidnappers who worked for a mob boss they'd never seen. They were both Kitsune, brave, and intelligent. However; right now, they were scared shitless and not sure what to do to get rid of the giant angry wolf now chasing them. His demonic body made bullets a useless weapon and their kitsune magic did nothing to stop the onslaught.
"What now?" Kamal pushed the gas harder and avoided a motorbike with ease.
Hiruki pointed to the speed odometer whish read 120, "We can't out run him-- he's gaining on us even now.''
In his wolf form, Kouga was the size of Inutashio and Sesshomaru in their true demon forms, so instead of getting bogged down in the rush hour style traffic as Hiruki and Kamal were, he simply ran over top of the cars-- straddling them as if they were children’s toys. As result, the drivers had either slammed on brakes to stare at the giant snarling wolf that stepped over them as if they weren't there, or swerved to avoid the car-sized wolf paw prints that were stamped into the cracking pavement. Kouga paid no mind to the honking horns, an idea rushing through his mind he jerked his body to the left, aiming for a strip of woods that lined the freeway. Inutashio stopped running, cocking his head in the direction Kouga had taken off in confusion. He could smell his son closely, even hear his muffled cries, but Kouga was going in the opposite direction.
Hiruki looked behind him in the mirror and his eyes widened, “What the hell is that? A giant dog?”
Kamal squinted, “That’s the Lord Inutashio. Inuyasha is his son, didn’t you know that?”
“No! I was just hired to grab puppy-boy back there, I didn’t ask if he had a pedigree!” Hiruki swished his tail in annoyance, and became even more annoyed that it as trapped between his back and the seat.
Inutashio snarled, not sure what the Hell the wolf was doing and not caring. He was going after his son. Hiruki stomped the gas pedal when he saw the dog advancing, squashing Kamal’s foot down under it and slamming the car into drive. But the car didn’t move. Instead the pair of kitsune looked up to see one very large paw on the hood of the car, Kouga was preventing them from leaving. Before the fear of this realization had set in that there was a giant wolf demon blocking their path, a menacing growl made the car vibrate. Kouga’s fang slashed through the roof like a can opened, ripping the roof back with the sound of ripping metal that tore under his demonic power like paper.
Hiruki summoned what courage he had to shoot his fox fire, but he may as well have squirted Kouga with water. He yelped when it had no effect, scrambling from the vehicle. Kamal followed and they made for the woods themselves. Kouga ripped back the roof enough to see Inuyasha, wiggling wildly in his restraints, gagged, but unharmed. Kouga turned to Inutashio, who understood and removed his hanyou son from the car. Kouga plunged across the road, pinning the smaller demon under him as he shifted to his humanesque form.
“Who was it?” He bellowed, holding both startled kits by the tail. “Tell me and I’ll let you live.”
Hiruki snarled, “Go to hell, ookami!”
Kamal struggled in the bigger demons grasp, “Please, we don’t know who he is. It was an order from the boss.”
“Who the fuck is the boss?” Kouga snarled, growing impatient.
“”We don’t know. We’ve never been permitted to meet him-but your father knows!” Hiruki supplied. “Let us go.”
“Damn that son-of-a-bitch!” Kouga tossed the useless and scared kits aside and moved back to where Inuyasha was clinging to his father, whimpering slightly in fear. He tapped the hanyou on the shoulder, eyes still blazing.
“Kouga!” Inuyasha lost composure for a moment and hugged his mate. “Thank you for saving me.”
“You won’t be saying that when we get you home!” Inutashio growled lightly. “Although I think I’ll let Kouga deal with you since I have other matters to attend.”
“Go,” Kouga said. “I will take care of Inuyasha. Then I’m going to take care of my father and this mysterious boss man.”
Inuyasha didn’t like the look on his father or Kouga’s face….
