It was noontime when Kagome woke up. She heard commotions outside her door. She looked confused and went to her door to see what was going on. Before she reached the door, she heard people talking at once.

 

“It's magic, I tell you magic!”

 

“Nonsense, he had a growth spurt. Men have that a lot while they are growing up.”

 

“No way. He is only ten years old! Ten year old boys do not look like they are teenagers.”

 

Kagome looked even more baffled. In the pit of her stomach, she knew that they were talking about Shippo.

 

She opened the door slightly and peered through the crack. Many servants were talking to each other. One of them saw her and went to her.

 

“Afternoon madam, I suppose you are wondering what's going on?” the servant asked.

 

“Yes, I heard that Shippo has aged quite extraordinarily?” she answered.

 

The servant giggled. “Well, you have to see it yourself. Please follow me!”

 

Kagome opened the door wider and followed the servant. They went through the halls and into the throne. Before her eyes stood a mature male. His red hair was pulled back with a green ribbon. He had on silk, violet pants with a navy blue shirt. When he turned around, his face was an almost adult face. Kagome couldn't believe it. How did this happen?

 

“Good afternoon, my lady Kagome,” he said in a deep voice. Kagome just shook her head in response. She could not speak.

 

She looked pass his shoulder and saw Hojo sitting in his chair. His hand was holding his forehead. He was probably speechless too.

 

“How…how…how did this happen? This can occur overnight,” Kagome choked out.

 

“Well, let's just say that something supernatural happened,” he told her. Kagome just looked at him. She knew that he was hiding something from her. She is an expert on that department.

 

“Sure, OK, well, I am going to go. I need to get dress,” she said and left. Without her noticing, Shippo was looking at her lustfully.

 

`You will be my queen, soon, Kagome. It's not that far away,' he thought.

Kagome was staring into her mirror. To her, the definition of supernatural was magic. Something was going on. But this time, she is not going to ask Miroku. It might be something she won't like. She'll just find out on her own, eventually.

 

She was already dressed. She had on a lavender kimono with a cream obi. There was floral imprint around the bottom hem. She put her hair in a low ponytail. She didn't apply makeup.

 

She stood up and exited out the door. She passed Shippo's voice talking and another voice. It sounded very feminine. Kagome felt nosy, so she leaned her ear to the door to eavesdrop.

 

“Well, when you are you planning to prepare war with Hojo?” asked the feminine voice.

 

“I don't know mother. Maybe tomorrow. I think it's best when we get the throne while we still can,” answered Shippo.

 

Kagome made a frown. Mother? His mother lives all the way to Hong Kong. How can his mother be here? Then she remembered what Kaede told her way before she passed on. Shippo's mother is a witch. She must have done something to go between two countries. She has the kind of power inside her.

 

But the words they said were making her scare for her husband's life. Shippo wants the throne. Hojo did declare one day that Shippo was the rightful heir and he will succeed the throne and not InuYasha, anymore. So, why is he going to take it by force? Are they that greedy?

 

Kagome was starting to get curious what Kikyo looked like. She opened the door ever so gently and peered in. Kikyo was beautiful. Her hair was long and ebony. Her complexion was white as a cloud, but her eyes were dull and cold. Kagome thought she should leave before she gets caught. She closed the door smoothly and walked away. She should tell her husband what she heard. The woman knew that he would never believe her, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Kagome saw her husband in the library. `Probably to catch up on the past's mistakes; he does love history,' she thought.

 

She walked over towards him and he looked up. “There's something you need to know.”

 

Hojo nodded, telling her that he was listening.

 

“I overheard a conversation. It appears that your sister is here, in Shippo's room. I heard that he wants to go to war with you, so he could get the throne,” she explained.

 

Hojo started to laugh, “That's ridicules! Shippo would never do that; he already knows that he is going to get my throne soon. I think you were just imagining it. Why don't you go off and do your duties.”

 

Kagome was appalled, but she knew that she couldn't go into that thick skull of his that his son wants him dead. She supposed he would find out that she was telling the truth the hard way.
