A/N: Sorry about taking so long, my comp was down for a little while, because I was in Florida. By request, I'm gonna take a little brake from Mutations and do another chapter for Project Inuyasha....whom I do not own...

Kagome sat, cross-legged on her bed, hugging a pillow, and watching TV, but not really paying attention to it. 'I wonder what Inuyasha's up to...' she thought to herself, blushing. 'Why am I still thinking about him?' she asked herself as her gaze moved to the window. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small card. She stared at it for a moment, reading every small letter and number on it over and over to herself. "Agent Inuyasha Taisho...." she said to herself.

Picking up her phone, she dialed the number and waited for him to pick up.
................................................................... ...........................

Inuyasha looked around and sighed as he sat back in his chair. 'Nothing to do...Nowhere to be.....' He looked up at the sky. "God, I need to get a job."

There were a few beeps from a small pocket in his vest and he reached in, pulling out his cellphone. "Hello?"

"Um......hi," a small voice said, from the other line. "Uh....it's Kagome."

"Hey, how've you been feeling?" the hanyou asked, leaning back into his chair.

"Um.....I've been okay. Nothing too bad," she said, turning off the TV and laying down on her bed to stare at the ceilling.

"I've been meaning to ask you," he paused, trying to choose his words carfully.

"Hm?"

"Who were those guys in that alley, and why were you out so late?" he asked bluntly.

"I....uh..." Kagome stuttered for a moment, trying to think of an excuse. "I got lost. The...uh...bus wasn't running and I had to walk home."

Inuyasha narrowed his eyes. "You're lying."

"N-no, I'm not," she said, trying to sound sincere.

"Whatever. Why did you even call, if you're going to lie to me?" he growled.

"I'm sorry," Kagome said, her voice becoming small. "I just wanted to thank you for saving me."

"Well, now you have, so is there anything else?" he bit out.

"No..." she looked at the floor and sighed. "Goodbye, Inuyasha," she said, frowning and hanging up the phone.

Inuyasha flipped his phone shut and put it back into his vest pocket. "Stupid girl," he said to himself as he stood up and dove through the window, landing softly on the roof of the building next door. 'I guess I'll just have to find out the old fashioned way.'

............................................................ ........................................................................... ..

A silver haired figure landed softly on a tree branch, his breath misting in the cold night air as he looked through the window at a young raven-haired woman, laying on her bed, watching TV.

After a few minutes of watching her watch TV, he sat back against the trunk of the tree and yawned, trying to get comfortable.

A few hours later, Inuyasha watched as she stood up and walked into her bathroom, only to emerge a few minutes later, wearing black jeans and a black t-shirt.

Inuyasha looked at his watch. 'Where the hell is she going at midnight?' he thought to himself as he watched her walk through the door. He jumped down and stood in the shadows as the young woman walked out the front door, oblivious to his presence.

She walked a few blocks before stopping in front of a small seemingly abandoned store. It was completely empty and had boarded windows.

The hanyou watched from above as she looked from one side of the street to the other. Once she was sure she was alone on the street, she opened the door and walked inside, being sure to close the door behind her. Inuyasha jumped down to the street below and moved silently over to one of the boarded windows to peek inside.

Inside, Kagome walked slowly over to a small cardboard box and looked inside. "Hello, there, have you missed me?" she asked softly.

Inuyasha's ear flicked in confusion under his cap. Why was she talking to an empty box? His question was answered when he heard a small mewing noise from the box. 'She has kittens?' He sniffed the air. 'Dry blood...injured kittens...'

He moved slowly and silently to the door of the abandoned store.

........................................................... ........................................................................... ..

Kagome looked up one side of the street and then down the other. 'Coast is clear,' she told herself as she opened the door. She walked over to the center of the room and knelt down. "Hello, there, have you missed me?" she asked the tiny kittens softly. She smiled at them and began to lift the pure white one up when, suddenly there was a loud snap of something made of glass cracking. She turned around quickly and stood up, still holding the kitten to her chest. "Who's there?"

Inuyasha put his hands up. "It's just me."

Kagome stepped back, careful not to step on the box where her kittens were. "I-inuyasha? Why are you here?"

Inuyasha frowned. 'What's she afraid of?' "That's a question I should be asking you. Why are you being so secretive about kittens?"

Kagome looked down at the kitten in her arms. It looked back at her curiously and purred as it snuggled into her arms, making itself comfortable. "I.." she paused, thinking. 'No,' she said to herself. 'He works for the government. I could get arrested.' "I just want to, okay?" she said, hopeful that he would take the hint and go away.

The hanyou frowned. "Kagome, please stop lying to me. I promise, if you just tell me what's going on, I won't tell anybody. You have my word."

'He did save my life....twice,' she debated with herself. 'I guess I do owe him the truth.' "I...." she began, trying to think of a good way to say it. "...stole them."

Inuyasha narrowed his eyes slightly. "You what?"

"I stole them, okay?" Kagome snapped, tears forming in her eyes. "I knew it was wrong, but they were being tortured. Their owner wasn't treating them right! He was starving them....and.....and I just couldn't let it happen any longer, so I stole them and took them here, where I knew they'd at least be safe," she explained.

Inuyasha advanced slowly, as if moving toward a scared animal and trying not to spook it. As soon as he was only a foot away from her, she looked up. "What've you been feeding them?" the hanyou asked.

Kagome sniffled. "Bacon, ham, milk. Anything I could sneak out of my house that they would eat. I don't have any money for cat food," she said sadly.

Inuyasha smiled slightly. 'She kidnaps kittens to save them from an owner who was starving them, but has no money to feed them. Great.' He lifted the box of kittens up and began walking toward the door. He looked over his shoulder at the young woman and sighed. "Are you coming or not?" he asked, his voice as calm as he could make it.

Kagome snapped out of her trance and nodded quickly, carrying her kitten and following Inuyasha out of the store. "Where are we going?" she asked, watching him closely.
He walked about two blocks, before stopping in front of a black Jaguar and opening the back door.

"You wanna come, or do you wanna go home?" he asked, putting the box of mewing kittens in the back seat.

Kagome bit her lip. "Where are you taking them?"

Inuyasha sighed. "To my place. They'll be safe there, and they'll have my legal immunity," he said, looking at the sleeping kitten in her arms.

"Are you sure it's no trouble?" she asked, still looking at the box in the back seat.

"Keh. I've got nothing better to do," he said, leaning back agianst his car. "So, are you coming are not?"

Kagome nodded. "Okay."

Kagome looked around in awe at how nice Inuyasha's apartment was. It was huge, with all types of cool gadgets and really, really nice furniture. "How can you afford all of this?" she asked in awe.

"Beleive it or not, since it's the whole city that I have to protect, they're paying me a bit more than a police officer," he said, setting the box down on his dining room table.

"Oh...."
