~*~*~* Ten Years Later*~*~*~*
"WHY AREN'T YOU FIGHTING BACK DEMON?!" yelled a demon hunter as he threw Inuyasha into a wall.
"This is the strong demon we've been hunting? This is pathetic!" The other said as he swung a bat at his head.
Inuyasha just stood there. He was unresponsive to their beatings, bleeding everywhere, covered in dirt, his hair mangled and nasty and clothes ripped to shreds. He was not the same hanyou that he was before. He was barely a shell of himself. The past ten years had litterally killed him. There was nothing left in him. It was like he lost the will to live, but couldn't die.
"If anything he'll make a great training device," the first hunter said.
"Yeah right. We should just beat him to death for the hell of it right now, he isn't gonna fight back anyway."
They proceeded to beat him until he was curled in a feeble position. He could feel everything they were doing, but found no point in doing anything. The hunters were taking a sick pleasure in his beating. They laughed and made jokes while kicking and swinging their bats at him.
"HEY!" yelled a girls voice.
They stopped their torture of the hanyou and looked down the ally to find a girl clad in leather with her black hair pulled back into black pigtails standing with her arms crossed. She looked no older than fifteen. The hunters laughed.
"What do you want little girl?"
"I want you to stop what you are doing, or face me."
They laughed harder.
"Just what do you think you can do to us? Go home and play with your dolls or something."
She threw off her leather coat, revealing her form fitting black leather midriff top and hip hugging leather pants. She walked toward the hunters and clenched her fists together with a sickening crunch. When she got close enough, one hunter raised his fist to knock her out, but she grabbed it quickly and twisted it. He screamed as it broke and she slammed her other hand into his arm, causing it to break as well. The other hunter raised his bat to attack her from behind. She reached back as it decended upon her and stopped it. Using it as a work out bar, she pulled herself up and did a spinning back kick into his jaw and let go so she landed on her feet.
"YOU LITTLE BITCH!" yelled the first hunter.
She reached up and punched him in the neck, effectively knocking the wind out of him and removing his ability to breathe tempoarily. At the same time she had kicked the second in the balls with the spiked end of her boots. Both fell to the ground in pain. A grin of satisfaction curled at her lips.
"I don't want to see you guys harming anyone else again, got it?"
In responce, they scrambled to their feet and ran off. She looked over at the one they were hurting, curious to see who it was.
Inuyasha had retreated to a corner, curled up with is head between his knees, his hair draped over his body like a veil. He shook violently from pain and the cold air. She picked up her coat, put it on and walked over to him.
"Hey... its ok. They're gone now. You can go."
When he didn't react to her, she got down to her knees and reached out to touch his shoulder. He looked up quickly and growled at her. She brought her hand back and stared at the growling hanyou. He looked so..... familiar. Her eyes reached the top of his matted silver head and located the two silver dog ears that were now laying flat against his head. She gasped.
"You..... I remember...." she said as she reached to him again.
He growled louder before she could touch him, but she ignored it. He backed away from her hand until he couldn't go any further. Her hand came in contact with his shoulder, which lacked the cover of his kimono. His growling subsided a little.
"It's ok. I won't hurt you. I promise. I'm going to help you."
Her voice calmed him, but he was still cautious. She suddenly realized all the bruises, scractches, wounds, broken bones, improperly mended bones, and his lack of a decent kimono. Was this really the dog eared man who saved her ten years ago? Even if he wasn't, she couldn't possibly leave him in this kind of condition.
She lifted him up and carried him partially on her shoulders. She intended on taking him to her place. It wasn't really hers, just an abandoned dojo no one lived in anymore. But it was better than here in an alley. She took him there by going down roads and alleys that hardly anyone would go. Those who were there wouldn't question them.
He may have been too skinny, but he wasn't light. It was already a long way to the dojo, but with him, the trip would be longer as she struggled to keep him up with her tired arms.
